morrowind's magic system requires no introductions but there are some spells and spell effects that are typically missed by players in this game that's why in today's video I'll be showing you five more underrated spells that may just save your life during your next playthrough the first spell on our list is pound for pound one of the most powerful disengages in the entire Elder Scrolls series and the spell that I'm alluding to with this incredible introduction is turn Undead much like demoralized turn Undead works by raising our Undead targets flea rating so that they leave combat and run as far and as fast away from you as they possibly can now of course working on only Undead targets is a bit of a drawback but for that sweet sweet Costco 80 savings special well you can go even farther than calling this great value that's Walmart why did I say that but getting back to the point here a Target that is running away from you is a Target that is of course not attacking you so having turn Undead at this highly efficient Magicka cost is going to be something incredibly powerful and useful for every early game character and those that are not Mage specked again this works on all Undead so all of our greater bone Walkers yeah we're gonna talk some more about them later in the video our skeleton Champions even our liches in tribunal turn Undead is something that should not be missed out on when you're looking to get out of a very tight spot and I mean we all love demoralize but we also love a great deal now the next item on our list is not necessarily underrated but I would say underutilized even though it's talked about a whole lot and what I'm talking about here are our bound weapon and Bound Armor effects specifically the pairing of all of these effects for a short duration allowing your early game character to have a fully kitted out daedric armor set and Daedric weapon at the low level of one are you kidding me I think the way that they designed these spells shows just how little Bethesda a knew about balancing back when they made Morrowind or B just how little they cared about necessarily level gating their more powerful effects like I mentioned a full set of Bound Armor could easily be put on by a level one Mage specked character making it an absolutely mind-blowingly incredible spell for any character who's ever going to be in Morrowind now to put this in perspective if you were to cast a bound long sword spell then your thrust attack would have a 4 to 40 damage range pretty incredible especially when you pair that with the fortify Long Blade for 10 points effect that comes with casting the spell now let's pair that up again thinking about casting this at level one for a entire suit here let's pair that up with a level equivalent weapon the iron saber maxing out at a damage of 5 5 to 18. oh yeah and there's no fortify skill goodness so 4 to 40 fortified five to eighteen unfortified tell me which one you want I'll I'll leave it up to you and the same exact thing can actually be said about all of the Bound Armor as well with all of our armor pieces having an armor rating of 80 save for the helmet which has an armor rating of 75 let's then pair that up again with our level equivalent level being one armor set of iron armor where we hang out around unarmor rating of 10 for all of our pieces so again 80 10. which one do you want I'll wait and when you wrap all this up into the fact that these only have a base cost of two Magicka points well now you really start to understand just how powerful these are so even though the community already loves and recommends these spells all the time they're still underrated there is no way they should have been put into the game in their current state but hey that's why we love Morrowind isn't it the Jank the overpowered stuff that's what makes it all fun so go ahead make that level one Mage that has better armor than a level 25 Barbarian now for our third spell effect on this list well let's take a moment to talk about the most annoying enemies in all of Morrowind now when I say that the first thing that many people are probably going to think is Cliff Racers rats slaughterfish all of our really high spawn rate enemies that the fandom loves to cramp on and make fun of on the wikis and on the reddits and on Twitter Demar when people use Twitter Mickey does I have a Twitter I've posted there once but you get what I'm saying the face of the annoying part of this fandom seems to be morrowind's deadliest pigeons but the real enemy to every bun of us who plays this game a whole lot well we all know it is not the cliff Racers nor the slaughterfish is no it's the greater bone Walkers oh yes the bane of every adventurer's existence oh the hours you have stolen from me now for those of you who are not familiar with the greater bone Walkers well the problem with them and why all of us adventurers tend to hate them a lot is that they have an ability known as The Dread curse which is a damage strength effect for 5 to 12 points and the problem with using a damage effect on an attribute is that it permanently lowers that attributes level by the magnitude until a restore effect of that same type has been used so therefore if I get my attribute strength lowered by 12 points that takes down my damn damage and it also takes down my carry weight until I either drink a restore strength potion or cast a restore strength spell or happen to drop all of my crap on the ground because now I have an encumbrance of zero run all the way back to town and click the restore stats button at the nearest Imperial Shrine Now ladies and gentlemen I know that that sounds like a whole lot of terrible things but damage strength isn't all bad because you can use it too that's right damage attribute specifically strength or endurance is just as powerful when used on an enemy as it is when an enemy uses it on you so if you get a decent damage strength ability after just a few casts of your own dread curse your opponents will be glued in place wondering where they went wrong but the fun with damage strengths doesn't stop here in fact just using a few casts if you can't fully immobilize an enemy again like I mentioned before or your melee damage is tied directly to your strength attribute so if you lower an enemy's strength well then even if they aren't Frozen in place you've probably just saved your own life because now they're hitting you with a wet noodle instead of a glass long sword so as much as we love to hate on the greater bone Walkers man they were really on to something with this dread curse thing I mean damage strength why don't we think of that more often I don't know it always seems to slip my mind but not this time now talking about how horrible bone Walkers and really any enemy that uses a damage attribute effect is and I do say damage attribute here because they come in all shapes and sizes attacking every piece of you that you try to hide but that takes us to our fourth effect how do we get around this without being a mage or a paladin style character well the aperture is simple just takes a long time that's right ladies and gentlemen the fourth underrated spell effect that I'd like to bring up is restore attribute one point specifically for a extended duration of time see when you drag out the restore attributes spell effect duration it makes the spell much more efficient it costs again opening it up to our lower level characters and our non-mage characters which makes this spell that much more powerful I mean being accessible and being able to cast it that's worth its weight in gold because it doesn't matter how good a spell is is if nobody can use it so when we make a restore attribute spell like this with a low low magnitude and a long long duration we are saving ourselves because although we don't get it immediately we do save ourselves having to run all the way back to town or suffering through a dungeon with a now crippled mind and body because that's not fun all right we've all been there we've all tried so the next time you load up Morrowind instead of suffering in silence grab yourself a restore attribute 1.4 x amount of seconds as many as you can cast and you will certainly be thanking me later all right here we are our final spell effect you gotta end with a bang right isn't that what they always say the grand finale well ladies and gentlemen do I have a real treat in store for you here in effect that many people probably don't know is even in the game because nobody ever mentions it or talks about it because it only really has one use that's right ladies and gentlemen our final spell effect today is the spell lock and it is one of those spells that just makes Morrowind so incredibly wonderful now what makes lock such a powerful spell if it sucks you can't really call it underrated because it's not underrated it's it's properly rated it's bad but ladies and gentlemen lock is not bad in fact it is incredibly strong when used effectively that's because lock whether it is one magnitude or a hundred magnitude it doesn't matter it's the same thing so you can get a lock spell cast it for one Magicka every time and get this you can put an unbreakable barrier between you degoth or Divas fear anyone doesn't matter because Morrowind NPCs cannot cast Open spells or pick locks so you just did there by locking that door is create an impenetrable barrier and buy yourself as much time as you need to get back on your feet in a fight that's right as long as there is a door between you and whatever you're trying to get away from you have an instant get out of jail free card and no way for that enemy to follow you so if you're ever doing one of those power armor-esque runs like I've shown many times in my how-to videos and instead of standing around and fighting you just want to Dive Right to the real loot well ladies and gentlemen then lock is going to be your best friend because like I said NPCs can't get through locks even if it's only one magnitude so not only does its low low Magica costs make it incredibly accessible to everybody in the game it is also incredibly easy to get as well being purchasable from medilla in Darwin under the name of fenrik's door jam and fenrix is a great option for accessing this effect and honestly the only spell you'll ever need with this effect because with even a magnitude of 10 points it still only costs one Magicka so ladies and gentlemen run from your problems and just lock them away if you don't want to fight them they're not going anywhere but you don't have to deal with them right now and hey that sounds pretty good all right so ladies and gentlemen the next time you hop in a Morrowind go get yourself the lock spell and experience some of the incredibly janky goodness that is locking out a storm astronaut and just you know raspberries on the other side whatever you want to do to time them I I don't know I'm not going to tell you how to live your life I'm just going to tell you how to survive long enough to do it so there you have it ladies and gentlemen five more underrated spells from Morrowind that's gonna do it for me here today if you have any other favorite custom spells that you want to drop below or some spells you want to see in another video I'm sure I'll make another follow-up to this one five more more underrated spells is a really nice ring to it but thank you so much for watching be sure to stop by my second channel here on YouTube follow me
