We often eat onigiri for lunch when we are outiside It’s like sandwiches in western counries :) Allegedly, onigiri was born 2,000 years ago
when rice farming was introduced to Japan Samurai used to bring onigiri
when going to a battle ^ ^ 400 years ago when people started travelling, onigiri was often used as “travel food” Today there are so many kinds of onigiri ^ ^ You can buy it everywhere in Japan:
supermarkets, convenience stores etc. ^ ^ Today I’m going to show you 6 easy recipes :) The ingredients are easy to get outside Japan
so you can give it a try ^ ^ In the end, we are going to rank them ^ ^ I'm going to use this Japanese rice
for making onigiri I bought this from the Asian supermarket in Madrid Japanese rice is very sticky
so you can make an onigiri shape Actually I tried to film this video first
with European rice but it was difficult to make a shape
because it isn’t sticky enough > < So I recommend you to use Japanese rice ^ ^ I use 150g for each onigiri Canned tuna Drain the oil 1 tbsp tuna 1/2 tbsp mayo 1/2 tbsp soy sauce Mix well and then the filling is ready! I use plastic wrap to shape onigiri
because bacteria can spread if you don’t Sprinkle salt on the wrap 150g rice Dig a little hole for the filling Try to put the filling inside Make a triangle ▲ We often use seaweed for onigiri :) Next, I’m going to make sesame onigiri 1 tbsp white sesame seeds Some salt I highly recommend this Taiwanese sesame oil! 1 tbsp sesame oil 1 tbsp soy sauce Useful when you bring onigiri for outside lunch :) Cut the seaweed large enough to cover the rice ball And wrap it with aluminum foil like this Use masking tape now :) Fold the end of the masking tape And put it on the other side,
the one that is not open! Place the onigiri on the open side and wrap it :) I needed a larger piece of seaweed... When you want to eat, just pull the masking tape This way, you can keep the seaweed fresh and clean for hours! 1/2 tbsp miso 1/2 tbsp sesami oil Mix the sauce well Mix about 2/3 of the sauce with 150g of rice Press the onigiri as tightly as you can! Spread the rest of the sauce on the surface and bake the onigiri in the pan Maybe better to put some sesame oil ^ ^ Maybe this is the most compllicated one today! 1 tbsp sesame seeds Bonito powder!
You can buy it in an Asian supermarket :) 1/2 tsp 1 tbsp soy sauce 1/2 tbsp sesame oil Put cheese in the center ♡ You need to use cheese that can melt :) Fry until the surfaces turn golden Wasabi is always used for sushi! 2-3cm, depends on how much you like it :) 1 tbsp sesame seeds 1 tbsp soy sauce Wrap it with seaweed :) Last, I'm going to make a Western style one! Cutting olives and cheese! I found this recipe on the Internet
and it says it goes well with wine ^ ^ Let me try the cheese! hehe Explaining time ^ ^ We say it before eating to show appriciation Trying each onigiri to rank them ^ ^ Hard to decide ^ ^ I’m going to show you our total ranking later!
