i'm really glad to get some emotion oh my god [Music] hey i'm jesse behind the camera is will and together we are top jaw and we're in copenhagen and dan we're happy to be here the city of fairy tales and reputably home of some of the happiest people on earth known for its canals architecture tavoli gardens exceptional food and brilliant breweries well apart from carlsberg we could not be more pumped to be here and i want to kick things off with a real-life danish pastry in copenhagen [Music] and for that pastry we have come to the oldest bakery in all of denmark started in 1652 this right here is also the oldest shop in copenhagen madness so they there can't be a better one right let's get that danish [Music] going for a vanilla cutter danish and like a cinnamon swell thing with icing looking good [Music] oh my god oh god bro that's ridiculous man drop your top tip there's no uber here we have that so it's old school taxis let's try and find one now on the road that feels vintage i know none of the apps have tried them all oh look at that [Music] okay this place is super cool i'm getting a bit of a bohemian vibe from it this conservatory right here is their kitchen everything goes on here and there's barbecued out here on the terrace it's smoked no they're barbecued i asked them for the smoke they said barbecue they were smoking a second ago so i've got a nice shot of like all the walks but it's not smoker's barbecue so there's a barbecue barbecue smoke yeah but they were just literally just billowing smoke there's no heat in it yeah i asked e-man if it was a smoker you didn't know it's barbecue give it the time hey man that isn't a smoke or is it that's just a barbecue well it is a barbecue but now you're using it to smoke something okay but it's not i wouldn't call it a smoker it's just barbecue right no no so are we both right yeah we've come to la vacana it's the little 14 seat blue house restaurant cafe offering food all day long specializing in vegetarian and seafood everything is cooked outside and barbecued and on a friday and saturday they offer a barbecue tasting menu we're here for a little lunch maybe a little glass of wine all here on the harbour it is beautiful [Music] so this right here is danish hummus made with barley [Music] brilliant the braised mushroom soup with smoked seaweed and potatoes it tastes so natural so like the flavors are very delicate extremely precise very well balanced it's cod on a risotto type base that is made again using barley the danish risotto [Music] [Music] legendary man thank you so much thanks for showing us around next time we'll be getting in the sauna oh yeah and in the water but not today not today [Music] so kind of say i didn't mention it we were in la banquilla but the prices there were very good copenhagen you will hear that it is it's costly right it's expensive but all those dishes we had there were like such good value i think the most expensive one was around 12 pounds amazing not bad well have you ever had schwartz before i haven't no i mean either you sure get the pronunciation right there i've got good money on that being nowhere near the pronunciation it is funny isn't it when there's a restaurant people watching you adam amantz is a well-known chef in denmark and he now has four restaurants this being his first opened in 2006. this is a deli specializing in shrimp so it's open sandwiches rye bread with a lot of toppings this is obviously a premium version but the schmobron or whatever is readily available in like market stores and everything it's just a danish sandwich always doing high-end one because we want to sample it at its best you know this one is herring with creme fraiche this is their chicken salad sirloin beef with fried onions and a berenice cream this is their butter fried place oh wow so very very creamy but then that pickled onion cuts right through a bit of honey and coconut oh i do i mean i expected copenhagen to be beautiful but not as sort of perfect as this really is a photographer's paradise everywhere you look it's aesthetic bang bang bang beautiful microbrewery bruce they do serve food but they brew their own beer on site everything's made by their head brewer tom was a chat from leeds it's quite fun there's a well-known craft brewer in denmark called tool they have a big brewery but this is their little standalone micro brewery come in here grab a few beers hang out mates proper beer hall vibes i'm going for dawn of the dave a west coast ipa that tom said he really likes was having a little apricot salad well that's good that's very good she had a very good time in there it wasn't the top jaw i think we've put a few more hours in you know what i mean clock out a little bit later however we've got to move and groove i think it's our cab [Music] why do you drop us here then [Music] hot dogs are a massive deal in denmark they are the street food of copenhagen and where to get the best one is at dop they're doing a sourdough bun with fried onions some gherkins about three quid one of these food on the go [Laughter] we're joining the first sitting at host a lively neighbourhood bistro with a very fun but laid-back atmosphere the food is serious however it is nordic three or five course dinner with some surprises in between we focus on shellfish and seafood this place is extremely highly coveted and well i'm kind of feeling hungry [Music] it's quite like a house like this woodwood and more wood so we've gone for a the rock star menu right one full taste menu between the two of us with two wine pairings so all the booze and all the food at host you have your courses right but they also dish you a lot of surprises this being one of them our very first dish some waffles with some cheese in it i'm very excited about that and some cod's row wow that's incredible this one here is our halibut with cauliflower and mussel sauce is amazing go put some wine with it because with any tasting menu sometimes the wine pairing is the best bit next up we have a next step on the honda civic we've got next next up we have smoked scallop served in shell with a horseradish snow yes what's that man this is another one of my little surprises mushroom soup they just poured in with a little teapot with a load of thyme in it it's not drinking an italian restaurant what kind of salad does that say oh it's a crab salt crab salad with a layer of celeriac and a shellfish blanket the fruitiness in that wine cuts through the creaminess of this these guys know what they're doing chicken's stuck with truffle with a truffle sauce artichoke chips a little salad oh my god what is it about danes and being able to cook this is an insanity wow wow wow wow wow love host we just got to go i mean we had a full tasting menu for less than 50 pounds matching wines less than 40 pounds incredible value amazing service what a great vibe in there i feel like my eyes are deceiving me like nothing's this cool to look at it's very cool it's like the petrol station in cars the disney pixar films we're in age 15. something to do with the road name that i can't pronounce it's number 15 on the road this building used to be an old knitting place where there's like ladies and older ladies would just knit produce all the textiles and jumpers and garments that copenhagen was so well known for making now it's the bar and a very cool one of that all i know is that this place is called honestly it's cooler than your eye whatever you will it's cool the most people in there it's called the matt damon shagolia dicaprio that's how cool it is [Music] thank you for watching our copenhagen film we really think it's one of the best we've ever made and you've his dad is played by vince vaughn and i gotta say it's great having vince back on my screen again now this is a very different role to wedding crashers but that innate cheeky charm and charisma still shines through the story documents the classic conflict between dreamer their parents and their childhood friends whilst michael commits to becoming a pro skater against all odds now north hollywood avoids a lot of the cliches that coming of age film could often fall into there are no heartthrob lids and abs in this one this film is spontaneous and engaging and if i've sold it to you it's awesome and there's quite a few surprises the rooms are awesome sticking with that bohemian barley vibe raw rustic delicious does this hotel pass their freestanding stone bathtub test yes it does will's backup station well that you've got to make you guys saw that lens out i can't deal with that big culture in copenhagen they're into their saunas their steam their cold showers cold water in out shake it all about hot to cold up on the roof you have a steam room and a sauna and world's bucket of death oh my god with this covered atrium even though it's like zero degrees outside it feels quite barley in here along with the rooftop bar man unless suites has its very own swimming pool in an atrium in the middle of the hotel surrounded by plant life okay bro time to get on with our day and seeing as we are in copenhagen maybe it's time for another danish pastry i'm ready round two [Music] come to the neighborhood of austin bro might be butchering how you say that but this is not a butcher's this is a bakery juno the bakery we just met with ml owner of june of the bakery and he is a former pastry chef at noma noma being just the best restaurant in the world so he probably knows a thing or two about baked goods okay gonna go for cardamom bun that's their like signature thing here's what they're known for roll with bread and cheese roll brunches a roll sort of butter and cheese and maybe that real sticky slice thing like the kefla or something [Music] [Music] yeah very good mate very glad we came here [Music] this place is called it translates to porridge and that's exactly what they do nothing less nothing more just sweet sticky beautiful porridge started by two friends martin and lass over there pure passion for porridge call me goldilocks will which is also recommendation and we've got the classic this has got apple almond and dulce leche as toppings that's bringing some warmth and soul to my corpse my body [Music] first with top jaw we are profiling a petrol station but we're not here for this type of gasoline i know we're here for a gasoline grill now i'm saying owner of gasoline grill klaus went on an exchange trip to america when he was 16 years old had a burger as his first meal and was like what is this burgers have now changed for me forever and then he started thinking i'm so annoyed that i can only eat this type of burger here i can't have this in denmark and then he came across this site an old petrol station in between two very popular roads in central copenhagen you thought let's do it that is brilliant there's no central kitchen everything is made on each site fresh they open at 11 and close when they sell out they were also in bloomberg's top 27 burgers in the world i don't know why they choose 27 however this is the only one in north europe that was on that list coveted [Music] oh that smells good the menu simple four burgers to choose from i've gone straight for the cheeseburger and will's gone for a butter burger which just has a big like knob of butter in it that flavor is brilliant and it's not oozing with like grease right well gonna have some of your bust one this this immediately feels a bit more naughty yeah do i mean like it's straight to the heart the arteries yeah that will um that will sort you out well that'll sort out big time [Music] gasoline grill fantastic i love that it was mostly different to other burgers it was clean it was neat the bun just melted away klaus what you've created with gasoline grill is remarkably good i can now understand why so many people were recommending it to us we're doing our touristy thing here this is me harvan maybe one of the best looking harbours docks i've ever seen all these buildings date back to the 17th and early 18th century and hands christian anderson the guy who wrote princess and the pea tinderbox a bunch of other brilliant fairy tales lived at number 20 here all these houses are full of restaurants bars i mean on a sunny day it's anywhere better i thought we'd have a cardboard because you know it might taste different when we're in copenhagen you know straight from the sauce right from the tap brew close by like when you drink guinness and dublin let's see [Music] ah still see these yes mate top of your sunglasses very nice bro designed by these two gents oh there's a little word from the old sea girl oh you're right there's one on your face oh comment yeah yeah [Music] when we're planning these shoots we put something out on instagram and lovely people give us loads of suggestions recommendations of where you want to be either you live in the place we're going you go there a lot you've been there recently when we put out our copenhagen post there was one place at number one warpix and here we are now it is lovely afternoon sun war pig's brewpub is part of nickella brewery they also do a incredible selection of smoked meats all smoked here in-house and of course serving up there unpasteurized beer made on site [Music] we all know i like my mango milk [Music] now's all there baby then we've got two types of sausage one they're pork jalapeno and cheddar sausage they're beef and fermented chilli sausage we've got pork rib beef ribs beef brisket pulled pork beans with brisket their famous mac and cheese their new potato salad pickles and a bit of bread okay let's go in bit of the beef rib oh jesus christ everything tastes so good and we've got some sauce on the table we have got kansas city bbq texas barbecue the flavors this place is one of the oldest restaurants in the meatpacking district that's the oldest i mean it's been about 20 years it used to be an old pate factory hence the name brilliant vibe lots of people come here for the cozy atmosphere candlelit sumptuous and the wine list is ridiculous everybody's very clued up in there it is a nice united family of pate paten middle eastern comfort food is the name of the game [Music] but this is real nice we've got three dishes here well crispy pork skin with peanut sauce we have three chicken little oysters complete with lemon tapioca chips with holiday dip i don't know what holiday dip was i thought it was maybe like lost in translation but apparently it's a very danish thing tasty dinner let's go mate that should be honey vinaigrette really makes it i like that a lot let's try some of that holiday dip will oh if you've seen me talking to someone off camera it is sally sally is gm of pate pate and good friend of nick parries [Music] right here is our lamb shank on a bed of planter oh man that's great grilled octopus with enduria the flavors are great and of course we couldn't come to pate pate without having some champagne pate that's great behind this very unassuming factory door is an absolutely wonderful friendly hug of an establishment and would you adam and eve it will and i about to take on a 15 course punk royale uh an institution that sort of thumbs its nose a little bit at full measure star dining 15 courses but almost designed by like if willy wonka met heston and tarl and they just had a love child and this is it there's a booze pairing but i'm choosing my words carefully i'm saying booze pairing and not wine pairing i think it's quite layering here where are you matthew i'm going to be drunk [Music] i can't back out there's like a year six disco or like a very dark underground party at like 7 a.m on a monday we got some waffles with what they call swedish caviar pickled fennel trout row some cress on something crunchy [Music] a little bit of broccolini [Music] i don't know we don't really have a cutlery [Music] the place was intense last night and that's coming from two intense glass yeah like we could normally hack it but that was really good fun great experience pricey for the two of us it's about 300 pounds which is a lot we didn't really know how much it's going to be and we were like okay copenhagen has been phenomenal i quite i sort of knew it was going to be great because i heard so many good things but just and look we have had very good weather whilst we've been here but the buildings the people the food the everything it's just a
