The haircut was 20 Rupees which is equal to 0.28 US Dollars (28 cents)
That's really cool that he did that. It kind of blows my mind that a seemingly small amount of money can completely change another persons life forever.
Start at 13 Minutes
I knew a dude who went to Cuba about 15 years back and gave the cab driver that lucked into being the car they chose 2 grand (CAD) to be at their beck and call for the week.
Driver apparently wept
This guy could work at any high end barber shop. Iโve never had a haircut as detailed as the one he gave. The man deserved a nice break in the daily struggle.
"Hair saloon."
lol
I just imagine some wild west saloon with all the cowboys rocking big 80's butt rocker hair-dos. lol
When I was in India (Madras), I remember being able to have a full Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner for under $3 CAD and that's after they rip you for being a westerner. $400USD can make a HUGE change to this guys life.
"Yeah Englishman. We're back."
Made me laugh
Barbers are significant to Indian culture in lot of ways. They are often therapists to listen your gibber-jabber, hot spots for town level gossip, Old men visit them for socialising etc.
Wife of a barber serves an important role in a lot of Hindu ceremonies which includes formal invitation.
Shaving your hair in Hinduism have a lot of significance. For example men shave their hair if someone close in relationship dies.
A child gets full hair shaved twice at age of 1 and 4, those hair are parted as gift to gods. This ceremony takes place at most important places of Hindu pilgrims like near rivers or established temples.
Barbers performing such ceremonies are designated to carry out these rituals.
One of the great thing about these ceremonies are that some of these barbers are muslim(there is a whole line of barber families, which can be from either religion.) performing shaving ritual at prominent Hindu temples.
Also Priests etc get their hair shaved leaving just a bit of hair at top called as peak, which are performed by designated temple barbers.
