4 Ways Palpatine Could STOP a Clone Rebellion | Galactic Republic

hello there friends welcome back to another episode of generation tank my name alan did you ever wonder why more clones didn't betray the republic like sergeant slake or just pick up and leave like cutler queen the cameron owens cloning techniques were solid but clearly after four years of constant warfare and contact with the outside world most clone troopers were beginning to develop their own individual personalities and worldview if order 66 and the rise of the empire had not been carried out it's very possible that we could have had some kind of great clone awakening followed by an uprising so what safety measures did chancellor palpatine have in place to make sure the clones stayed in check during the republic era that is what we're going to be talking about today we're going to take a look at a variety of different programs including some more obvious programs invisible programs along with some very secretive programs that you might have never heard of emperor palpatine lacked a non-cloned military force that was loyal to him in case the clone army woke up to their reality one day and decided enough was enough he had senate guards and commandos along with his own personal red guard but they were supposed to serve the political office and government system any type of extrajudicial killings of clones because they might be a threat to the empire would clearly be against their directive in his earlier years in the office chancellor palpatine had to be really careful with what he did with his executive privilege only in special cases when senators or chancellors were being threatened would these guards be deployed like during the senate hostage crisis created by cad bain or when fives tries to kill palpatine later on in the clone wars we would see the rise of the clone shock troopers these were clones who wore red trimmed armor and officially was assigned to guard coruscant they functioned sort of like a military police but also like a planetary defense force for core science more importantly these clones were actually secretly bred and trained on coruscant i believe it's possible that these clones were indoctrinated to be more loyal to palpatine they might even come from a different cloner like the sparta cloners from legends these troops were not palpatine's personal bodyguards but there was definitely some type of connection between him and their directives and so when jessica palpatine needed a situation taken care of he generally called in the clone shock troopers it was the clone shock troopers who took down fives after he attempted to kill palpatine and also exposed the biochip conspiracy it would be in the imperial shock troopers who accompany palpatine to grab the wounded darth vader from mustafar unlike most clone units the clone shock troopers were not associated to the jedi or commanded by the judge so they were not tainted by that specific organization and so when asukitano was accused for bombing the jedi temple it was the boys in red who were sent to chase her down the problem is the shock troopers were mainly deployed on coruscant if there was a runaway fugitive clone on the capital it'd be normal for the shock troopers to respond if some small clone protest or uprising occurs in the federal district again it would be the clone shock troopers are going to be called in but seeing why deployment of the course on guard elsewhere in the galaxy like on ryloth for instance after captain hauser rebels would be a strange and very visible sight one that would need some more explanation it's for this reason that palpatine cannot control the clones with the corsant guard alone it was only after the rise of the empire that we actually see the shock troopers deployed anywhere else besides coruscant like on kamino alongside tarkin so what if chancellor palpatine wants to carry out a hit on some unruly clones but he wants no one to find out what if he has some wet work that requires the ammo secrecy that can't be traced back to the chancellor's office well this is where the covert ops clone troopers come in these specialist clones actually have very few image dedicated to them but basically there were rank and file clones who are specifically chosen because they exhibited special forces potential and also obedience after the clone commandos lost more than 50 percent of their numbers due to terrible leadership during the battle of geonosis the republic decided that new special forces needed to be created in order to replace them null arc troopers pretty and zhang were assigned to train these covert op clone troopers in commando tactics now the covert op clone troopers lack the same type of genetic advantages that the knoll arc troopers or the alpha are troopers had but they more than made up for it in their tenacity loyalty and also skills they usually operated in two to three man teams undercover and carried dc 15a blaster rifles and dc15s but what differentiates them from the rank and file clones was their reflex coded armor which wrapped light and made it extremely hard for sensors to pick up their location what makeover op clone troopers so special was the fact that no one knew about them and that's because they didn't report directly to the special operations brigade like everyone else they instead reported directly to the supreme chancellor or at least that's what the rumors are because the covert ops clones were not associated with the normal special operations groups inside of the republic they became one of the few units that were designed to keep the null alpha and clone commandos in check the covert op clone troopers were also the ones that would be sent after rogue clones defectors and deserters because it was really bad for morale to see clones get executed by other clones these covert op clone troopers usually just killed any of these clones they found on site and of course you've probably never heard of these guys because there are actually no public or military records about their existence generally speaking before the rise of the empire the republican intelligence service was relatively limited in resources and operation size their numbers were mainly drawn from the judicial forces and their focus was on intelligence gathering and covert operations against the confederacy of independence systems they did have elite operatives who performed direct action missions these individuals mainly focused on trying to negatively affect the separatist war effort and less on policing the clone army but if there was some kind of massive separatist plot to turn the clones against the republic they were probably one of the first institutions to know about it now a lot of these individuals in the republic intelligence services formerly belong to the judicial forces before the clone wars broke out and so they have more loyalty to the republic than they do to a specific office like the chancellor's office so i don't know if palpatine actually trusted this institution and directly after the rise of the empire well the head of the republic intelligence services along with several other high-ranking members in this outfit were executed there's also clone intelligence forces associated with the grand army of the republic these clone espionage units were used to find general grievous on utapu at the end of the war they're also used to uncover the location of the massive separatist warship known as the malevolence clone intelligence would utilize the null class advanced recon commandos who were probably some of the best soldiers in the republic but also extremely uncontrollable and unpredictable clone intelligence would also use clung shadow troopers who are reconnaissance and infiltration units with an expertise in marksmanship and communications unfortunately for palpatine the clone intelligence outfit was full of some of the smarter and more individualistic clones like of course the null arcs and so if you send them to quell a clone uprising you could have some loyalty issues so neither of these intelligence apparatuses were really perfect for stopping a clone rebellion which is why amber palpatine ultimately removes both of these organizations and replaces it with the isb [Music] ultimately the tool that the palpatine used the best and the most was propaganda he was a master at shifting the narrative and he made sure to control the mindset of the grand army of the republic not only were the clones genetically altered and indoctrinated they were also isolated from the rest of the galaxy from birth the clones also saw each other in the jr as their family if palpatine was able to control the narrative that the clone troopers heard every day about their service then deserters and people who are traitors would probably be taken out by other clones in a way the gar would just self-police itself that's exactly what the clone army did in many situations and it actually did prevent large-scale rebellions in a lot of these situations when sergeant slick was discovered as a mole for the separatist alliance the clones dealt with him very quickly and without much empathy the same thing happened when captain houser refused to obey orders although several clones followed his lead the majority of the clones present did not and they all arrested the rebellious clones even captain rex considered turning in deserter cutlery queen after running into him on salah come on but because cutlerqueen saved rex and took care of him after his injury and also introduced him to his wife and kids captain rex chose to disobey orders this was a very special and unique situation that probably wouldn't happen a lot so as you can see chancellor palpatine did have a lot of different tools that he could use to prevent a larger clone rebellion from happening but none of these tools were especially dependable in my
