[Music] hey everybody how you doing out of the range today this is about to be a really fun video I'm kind of in the shadows here but I guess that keeps us a little bit cooler but this past winter I shot a 50 BMG round and two paper plates if you haven't seen it yet we have a series on the channel called how many paper plates there's probably 20 plus videos where we're catching different pistol rounds rifle rounds in paper plates to see what penetrates the furthest but this past winter we caught a 50 BMG round in some paper plates and ever since we did that everyone's asked what about a 338 Lapua Magnum you know they're supposed to be somewhat comparable long-range rounds some people prefer the 50s some people prefer the 338 Lapua Magnum but that's what we're doing today I'm gonna shoot the 338 Lapua Magnum this 50 BMG is a 660 grain projectile this 338 Lapua Magnum is a 300 gram the 338 is nothing to sneeze at but when you put it next to a 50 BMG it looks kind of small but I'm gonna shoot this 338 and then we're gonna see how many plates it takes to catch it and then I'm gonna roll in the 50 BMG footage from this past winter so you guys can see it and don't have to go look for it but I know how many plates we took to catch the 50 BMG with this actually is a little bit more than that just because I'm not sure if it's gonna go further and I've got some last resort books back here but I'm gonna go load up to 338 let's hopefully catch this bullet and see what happens the rifle we're shooting today is my sandwich 110 be a stealth completely awesome rifle this is probably my favorite rifle that I've ever shot in my entire which is quite a few and on top we have a Nikon FX 1000 same thing best scope I've ever used in my life so I absolutely love to set up love every time I pull the trigger on this thing but we'll load up one round here this one in a minute there we go and what's letter let's let her fly here really really hope we catch this bullet here well now my BA Pau is completely broke let's get oh yeah now it's working just kidding looks like we hit her dead center and the books flew off the back but I don't know if that's because the bullet hit the books or just the energy pushed everything back but let's go check it out and see what happened I'll put these in stacks together one to help them stay together and two to help me count them so I know how many is in each pile Wow look at that little tiny hole you can barely even see it but look out the back big old nasty hole went through there you got to be kidding me it stopped right here the 50 BMG went through a lot more than that but real quick let me undo these and see if I could find the bullet here I really thought it was gonna go through a lot more than that you guys will see here in a second what the 50 BMG went through this tape off look at how big the hole is shoot dougie still ripping hmm I'm trying to be real careful okay there's the bullet so the 338 Lapua pop this pull it out so we can see it it's kind of hot wow there's the bullet look at how big that is in my hand it is one big old chunk of metal that's at least a inch and a half across probably pretty wild these first two I had marked for 900 total and that 338 Lapua Magnum didn't even go through the 900 just a shade under it looks like about 20 less so 880 plates for the 338 Lapua Magnum I'm gonna roll in the 50 BMG shot here so you guys can check it out so range is hot fire in the hole there we go I'm gonna do just like we always do start taking these plates off from the front nothing surprising there now we're getting into some massive destruction we've never had paper plates do that number before where I can literally stick my fingers through stack full of a couple hundred plates there so there we have one of the 50 BMG steel cores I'll give you guys a close-up of that second there is a 50 BMG pretty pretty sweet honestly in my hand I feel like it should be bigger but that is a pretty big bullet no I'm gonna count how many took to stop it super super cool glad we were able to catch it and figure out that it takes 1797 paper plates to catch that bullet well there you have it guys between these two rounds the 50 BMG went roughly twice as far through the paper plates as its 338 Lapua Magnum this is supposed to be a flatter shooter for a long distance or whatever but it's hard to beat the straight-up crazy power of the 50 BMG and I absolutely love this rifle let me know anything more you guys want to see us shoot with the 338 or the 50 BMG I have the biggest suit out of shooting both those rifles but thanks for watching the video guys a big shout out and a big thanks to the heavy metal channel everybody go check them out and subscribe don't forget to comment down below ideas for future videos we'll see on the next one who do
