and it's five I read from the book of second Corinthians chapter 12 verse seven to nine and there the Bible says and lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations but this is where we start a form in the flesh was given to me a messenger of Satan buffet me lest I be exalted above measure concerning this thing I pleaded with God three times that it might depart from me and he said to me my grace is sufficient for you for my strength is made perfect in your weakness may the Lord bless the reading of his word amen I want to talk about the sufficiency of grace the Bible there says it's Paul who writes this piece of literature Paul says that something was given to him and that was a thorn in his flesh and the Bible says that Paul says that he took it to the Lord three times and he took it so that it may depart from him that was his purpose of taking it to the Lord but in response God says to him my grace is sufficient for you and the Bible or Paul when he writes he does not tell us what this thorn in the flesh is therefore living room for us who sit here today to take an assumption or apply whatever thumb maybe in our flesh I don't know if I'm making sense but whatever Paul had faced is what Paulette faced and we don't know but what we know is that we too have phones in our flesh and Paul says that he and what we know about the phone impulse flesh is that it's troubled him so much so that he took it to God and most of the time we wake up every morning and we take things to God and night after night we pray about it morning after morning we pray about it but it seems as though this problem is not ready to depart from us question is it that it does not depart or is it because God does not want it to depart and so Paul says when I took it to God that he may take it from me God says I will keep it with you because my grace is sufficient for you some of the struggles that we face in life will never be removed from us make peace with that and the reason for that is that grace envelopes us if a man I heard somewhere that we are saved by grace if grace is strong enough to save then grace should be strong enough to keep so Paul says I took it to the Lord that he may remove it from me but God looks at Poland says it shall not be removed I will keep it in you and I will keep you in it so sometimes we worry about things that were never meant to be removed please move your attention from removing it and focus on being kept in it it is time we worship God for keeping us in it it should have consumed us but God kept us in it we should have died but God you remember the time man when you were really supposed to die doctors came and said to you you will must make it out of this one tomorrow they come back you have made it we don't know how grace keeps us elite so I'm here to say today that grace will keep you His grace is sufficient even for you I don't know what fun you may be carrying around don't pray to God that he grace and God's mercy upon our lives what do you do when you stand up and what you have come to say has already been said all you need to do is to sit down or say it once more for emphasis purposes because the theme the garments of grace I would want to investigate this theme using three stories but this one is going to be the last story I want to discuss this in the context and in relation of our thorns trials and tribulations and whatever you would want to substitute as pastor deaf where it said for the thorn in Paul's flesh because you see God's grace God's grace is revealed in our lives in different ways because if you look at John chapter 9 for instance because a story of a man who was born with an infirmity he was born blind he was blind and that devil had nothing to do with it he was born blind before he could be born there was already a purpose that had been completed and finalized by God who is his creator because somebody sitting here today may wander because you are carrying a burden that you have nothing to do this you were born in this situation and you had to carry it through and all your life and it is not your own doing and John 9 gives us a glimpse of the reasoning of Jesus that this man was actually allowed to be born blind why because not in his birth not in his infancy or when he is young but when he is older God's grace was going to be revealed in him but the grace of God was going to be filled in two ways one he will have to leave with blindness he will have to live with the fact that he can see and other people are able to see he will have to live with the fact that I'm living with the problem that is nothing to do with me and somebody here knows what I'm talking about the second way in which grace was going to be revealed in this man was going to be the new beginning where God was now going to perform a miracle and restore that which this man had never had in his life his sight was going to be restored so God's grace was manifested in that this man lived with being invalid and number two he His grace was manifested in the fact that he was now going to be taken out of that miracle I don't have time but if I had time I was going to tell you right now that this man living with blindness was actually a miracle in itself and when he was healed of the blindness he was now take being taken out of that miracle I don't have time because you see many times we may want to be delivered and restored back to life restored and healed from our infirmities and our diseases but God's purpose is that people may see his miracle in his power to sustain the second story the second story is that found in John chapter 11 we know the story this one was born with everything he was perfect but he died when he died Christ went into his talk but before he went to his home he asked those that were around where did we did you actually lay him and somebody said there's nothing you can do about him because his four days dead not only is he four days dead but he is already stinking and an order and I'm here to tell somebody right here right now that at times it must get worse in order for it to get better and so God's place was manifested in the first man by the restoration to life and in the second story His grace was manifested in the healing and restoration to life and in this story that pasta Tefo preached on today we see God's grace manifested in his power to sustain his power to keep us living with it not out of it whatever it is that you are going through right now I'm telling you God may it may be that it is his will and purpose that you will never get out of it because why his power is manifested in you out of it but his power will be manifested in you living in it is the thing there are some people who on drugs we have given themselves on alcohol some have committed suicide because they couldn't stand what you are going through right now and somebody may be asking how is it that you are still standing when actually what you are going through has taken others down the grave and I'm here to tell you right now it is the grace of Jesus it is sufficient sufficient for every problem that you may be going through and everything that you may be going through God's grace is sufficient you are going to live with it it may be unemployment God's grace is sufficient it may be in terrible disease God's grace is sufficient it may be whatever your enemies whatever God's grace is indeed sufficient now let me tell you something before I sit down if you were you were to be taken out of the problem I'm not asking God to keep you when you don't have the strength to keep you day I'm not I'm not there actually I'm asking you to tip I'm asking him to deliver you from whatever you're going through right now but if it is his choice to keep you there let me tell you something you are actually a miracle working miracles by its very definition other people think about miracles as being delivered from something if you couldn't walk somebody prays for you and you carry your wheelchair and whatever you walk out of that door with your own legs that's to them a miracle but the miracle is actually living with it when other people living a normal life when other people cannot live with it and if I were to be in your shoes chances are I may not make it so you are to thank the Lord right now and not curse him for not removing the thorn in your life you must be able to say I praise the Lord for whatever ideas that I'm going through right now may God bless you may God richly keep you and if it is his purpose and will that it does not remove this thorn in your life maybe that you will understand and and and and bask in the Sun of His grace so that one day you too may tell the story of the power of Jesus and his power to sustain amen so I have to cut it that I got from the Cape Conference when I used to work for the Cape Conference geographer it must have been around the 2013 some of them they these were benefits we were given for being pastors in the conference we celebrated it was the first time they ever did that was so I took this one to school in Kenya the other one the iPhone and one time I must have received a call from bunkie so as I finish the call I'm putting it in my pocket and I'm in little bit I'm in a little bit of a hurry and as I put it in my pocket it slides straight to the ground and that was the history of my iPhone I came back to South Africa tried to have it fixed I went to every Apple sent away they could try and fix it iPhone doctor whatever whatever it just would not respond to anything I had another one same time given same time I still have that one today it's my iPad this iPad caught several accidents you know your phone your iPad your whatever drops from time to time or whatever with whatever gadget you have it drops from time to time at some stage I thought this was gone it was history there's nothing about it there's no hope for it until recently I took it to Midland here in it must be a sort of Chinese shopman Party Steinem and it's a Pakistan shop they took this iPad and I asked him I want to fix this he told me he is going to do his best he's going to try and fix this I / this deciphered hopelessly I left it with him and went away so I asked him as I was leaving when do I come back he says give me a week or come back then I thought I was on the car Toronto this guy is going to crook me so I went away for that period and I came back my first question is I'm entering the toe is did you fix it did you fix it anxiously I'm anticipating him to simply confirm my theory that says it's gone to my surprise my iPad is alive today there are two things he did even though it had broken pieces he put some together those that he could but those that he could not do he did something I mean he he gave it a cover he covered this iPad with some what you call this covers some plastic cover to hold it together in some instances the cover did wonders for the iPad the repairs were not much he did he covered it with the screen and he says your iPad is fine now some of you when I carry that I bet you do not know that story where that iPad has been where I've been with that iPad I have been through a lot but one thing that stands out about that iPad it is covered with the comments of it is covered with restoration I had never imagined it is covered as God covered Adam and Eve they are naked there from their nakedness terrible they were naked they had not even realized but God took took something to cover covered their nakedness restored their dignity in ways they had not imagined at the cherubim in case you go away with it God is able to take us even though we may be broken even though we may be we may have lost some parts of our lives in the journey and covers with his dignity cover us with comments of grace so the men who came to a banquet he was invited according to Jesus's parable to this banquet but came to this banquet without what without the proper garment of grace he came uncovered or covered with own with his own things I want to suggest to you let us not be this man who covers him on himself I mean he who covered himself with our own plans let us allow God to cover us with His garment of grace I'm going to suggest them so that we go when John looks at all of us on the other side he asks who are these and he says these are they who have come through the Great Tribulation they have washed they are watch with what with the blood of the Lamb I want to suggest something you read Hebrews chapter 4 verse 2 it's a dangerous race the dangerous ways they both had the Word of God they and us had the Word of God but the difference between us and them or between the second group is that the first group while they heard the Word of God it benefited them not because they did not embrace it with faith the comment of grace first of all is the righteousness of Christ it covers our nakedness it covers our indignity it covers even our sins that others may have seen it open but it covers them but it has no bearing in our lives it has no meaning in our lives whatsoever it will not do anything to us except we embrace it with the second grace of faith except we say to ourselves I receive what you have given me you know this joke we say I received we need to mean it now we need to mean it that God has done everything for us God in Christ has given us everything but in order for it to have the meaning to have a bearing we did the grace of God with which to him but I mean to the grace of faith with which to embrace it when John sees us he sees people who've gone through difficulties who though they went through the normal difficulties you are going through they have come to the other side and have been washed through the power of what the power of Jesus what they did was simply this when they had unemployment they used the faith to apply to to to to embrace them when they had difficulties in their marriages they took faith and applied the grace of God they said the blood of Christ is able to transform us even when our marriages are contracting when they had difficulties with drugs they struggled with alcoholism in their lives or in the lives of the loved ones instead of giving up they took that faith and said Christ by faith I walk this alcoholism is not going to finish my family when they had difficult bosses to deal with you know you have difficult people to deal with sometimes huh difficult bosses when they had difficult bosses instead of throwing that towel they took faith and said Christ by grace by faith I walk this thing is going to change and in things indeed things changed by the way when things change for you sometimes you think it is just you but let me tell you you've made it because Christ was there for you because Christ when they had unemployment in their lives to deal with they took what they took faith and said by faith we will walk even though we are unemployed we will have we will carry on even though things attack when they had sicknesses in their lives instead of throwing themselves to sicknesses they said by faith we will fake it by he asked me one day I said you either fake you to you face it and he says what is it to face it I said it's aware of great it is my own work where you take what you know what God has done what I mean will you take faith and apply it to your situation when their marriages were on the verge of collapse they took faith and applied it and said Lord even though this marriage may collapse I want you to walk with me when their businesses we're not coming right when things were not turning right what they did unlike the other people who had the gospel but it had no benefit to them they took their faith and said Lord my business may be collapsing but I want to hold on to you even though it collapse it collapses even though things are not coming right even though the bank balances are not balancing we are going to hold on to you when things were rough their health was challenged when their health was challenged they then took the same faith and said it is relevant for this situation so when John looks at them beside he asks a question what is the Bible says these that day who have come through all these tribulations that you are going through yourself these that they have come through the difficulties but they have washed their robes they have stuck with Jesus Jesus says if you overcome or give you what hello I still awake I'll give you a what if you are staying with me if you stay with me whatever comes whatever happens so long as you stay with Jesus you say Jesus I don't understand what is happening in my life but one thing I know you said you will be with me and so be with me through this darkness through this Fame through this unemployment through this collapsing marriage through this thing that is not coming right whatever it is you are going through whether it is with your employer it is with your bosses so long as you stick and stay with Jesus and I say to you stay with Jesus stick with Jesus hold Jesus family walk family stayed on stoned here or from Jesus if you feel your life may not end up you will not be in that hundred forty-four thousand all the multitude no one can counter where they are brought up to the other side through faith through faith where your garment of grace not be tattered in times of need may your garment of grace hold and help you when things don't go right when you off may your faith hold you and keep you going and eat up and made up will be applied in your life when things are not clear goodness [Music] good to the upper ranks life life is unfair guys life is very unfair and even people Akali life is unfair I don't know if it's caught or tainted the repeater telling us about thorns being in the flesh and God allowing it so you know we don't know but the Bible says to some or to one was given five talents to one two talents and then to one one talent so I would have only if I could but was in a pastor Amira and when you to try funda and barley and so a relief expression would I got my fear and I I still keep it in from that side so I'm no longer under pressure so I'm not because I'm kinda good so we are but appropriate guys to break bread and we are just going to read a verse here well-known verse bread whenever you think of bread you only think of basics basics especially if you come from where I come from you know bread is all these basic and if you don't have bread at home it suggests that there's something that's that's there's a crisis in fact when you no longer have bread you may not have rice you might not have pop you might not have other things you might only have carrot but but bread you must have great so so so so so bread had that also the same connotation back in in in the Cape where bread is a staple diet you must have great and and and and so when it came to the breaking of bread it symbolized something the breaking of bread symbolized something it symbolized fellowship it's simple it symbolized kindness it symbolized love because you cannot break bread with an enemy if you break bread with an enemy such as that you have forgiven the enemy in other words it is when you share your sustenance with the enemy or rather you sharing your sustenance with your brother or sister otherwise you cannot share without your PIN kind you cannot share without you having the spirit of fellowship in other words whenever you talk about bread and fellowship you are also talking about humility you need to be humble so that you can be able to share with one or the other so we are here to break bread we are here to break not just bread not just any bread by the bread of life now allow me to read this text it says give us this day our daily bread that's the verse which is founded in Matthew chapter 6 verse 16 give us this day our daily bread aye-aye-aye aye-aye-aye find the crema I find the crema very very interesting in this in this text in this request it says give us this day our daily bread give us this day our daily bread now I'm not sure whether there are two requests or one request but nonetheless it seems to suggest that firstly give me a day give us this day give us this day our daily bread so within the day I tell you pressure also be provided now it says give us this day so if we're to look at a day it's always it's always interesting whenever here Jesus never talks about tomorrow also we always talk about today he talks about us being being worried about two more races who amongst you has ever been worried about tomorrow and solve that worries us two more today and so therefore therefore stick to two today because today is all that you have the only thing that you have is today you do not have yesterday to not have to water so you do not have we do not ask for tomorrow as for today give us this day give us to day give me time give me time now time if we're looking at time we do not look at it in a linear form with not look at it in a philosophical form but if we look at it in its realest form when you get time which is life life in itself life actual life we're looking at life whenever one is given time one is given life whenever you run out of time whenever whenever you run out of days it means what it so so Jesus is asking us to request for time in other words Jesus is asking us to request for life itself now when you request of life there's only one thing that you are is questioned for and that is Jesus Christ himself this day give me Jesus Christ give me you and then on top of that give us this day our daily bread now when you have this day therefore in our need sustenance now you need plate now allow me to say the bread which is Christ is talking about is not the plate it's not the bread which we buy at ShopRite no it's not the bracketry by the Woolies this is the bread of life when Jesus says I am the bread of life now in other words what Jesus Christ is saying he's saying that I will be the way I will be I will be the one who's going to be assuring you in this day through this day now for you to be able to be assured in the state you also need sustenance through this day now that shall also be myself I shall be your way I shall be your sustenance I shall lead you to me the way in which Christ leads us is different because he holds you by the hand and he assures you and you move but where you are moving to is the same point as your way as where you started from because you move from him to him and that is why that is why that is why Paul Paul comes in it is fitting it is fitting for Paul to say in him we live in him we move him we find out being everything revolves in him and that is Jesus Christ himself and so today as we are here we are only asking to bask in him we are all going to be breaking him fellowshipping in his spirit fellowshipping in his New Covenant in my blood do this as often as you drink it to call me to remembrance may the Lord bless the reading of his word amen I think we have heard about the cup many times we have heard about the blood many times and when men and women want to write about Jesus the first thing they do is to write about his love then later about his blood and stuff like that but I'm interested when I was speaking through pastor the senior pastor he said to me when you read the wine story it must also filter down to comments of grace and I said there and I looked at the table during that night the Bible says that it is Paul at Shalu says for I received from the Lord that which I also passed down to you that the Lord Jesus on the same night he was betrayed hello on the very same night he was betrayed he took bread and broke it and gave it to them to eat question how many were they at the table 13 of them with Jesus included there were 13 of them 12 disciples but my favorite part that is not a written day is this one that even when Jesus knew that his betrayer was on the table he fed him still grace is knowing that they have wronged you but you do them well anyway even when he you are mean he sat at the table that is Judas with his pockets full of money betrayal money as he stretched out his hand to receive the bread from Jesus the blade the money started making sounds but Jesus ignores the sons and gives him the bread anyway grace is knowing that they have wronged you and you do them well anyway at that very table after they had eaten they walk out of that place and the Bible says when they were about to capture Jesus somebody from somewhere takes out a knife and chops of a soldier's year even when Jesus knew that there were weapons of mass destruction at the table he fed them anyway grace is doing them good even when you know that they have wronged you protect them anyway Paul then says I received from the Lord that which I also passed down to you that on the night he was betrayed if I were Paul I would have written on the night Judas betrayed him but Paul decides that I will not mention names I will protect him even then grace is doing them right even when you know that they have done wrong may the lord help us to be gracious to those that have wronged us let us pray together o garena for the in heaven we thank you that even when we are wrong to you even when we were meant to make things right our selves you send your son to come and make things right for us that is Grace we eternally grateful here sit your people we have been wronged by many in lives and they attempted to avenge themselves but we ask you give them a spirit of forgiveness but they may do them well even when they know that they have wronged them thus we pray in your son's we drink from them so instead of the two 300 mils the 30 mils we are now at 40 now 50 30 50 and we are hoping we'll reach a friend of mine while we were preparing communion said I see all the beautiful things you are doing but I want to just see the glass all I'm interested is the size of the class he says when you drink it it ends up in the mouth so he's not happy with that so I want to
