2023 Tesla Model Y/3 CarPlay and Android Auto Upgrade! #tesla

foreign here welcome back to the channel so I recently installed the display or instrument cluster display on my Tesla Model 3 with an Android auto and Apple Cafe compatible on that display but I do not have the extra display with the Apple Cafe and Android auto in my Tesla Model y so I finally found this really cool little device that will let me add a fully functional Apple carplay and Android auto right on my main display so this one will be compatible with both model 3 and model y so today I'll show you what comes in this box and then the whole setup process how to connect this display and how to connect it to my phone and to the car alright let's go [Music] let's take a quick look what comes in the box of this Wireless Cafe Integrations for your Tesla Model 3 and model y foreign [Music] device so this is the calling kit device itself and came with two cables One USB a two USBC and another one is USBC to USBC too so basically these two are the power supply cable you can choose either one to use with the device and the instruction manual all right now let's go install it in my Tesla Model y I got this carplay device from car link kit or calling kit carplay.com if you are interested you can use my spatial discount code that tc18 for extra 18 off and after that 18 off the price come down to 114 now let's set it up in my Tesla Model y okay before we test this out um forgot to mention to you that this is the most updated version of the car link kit so you don't really need a SIM card or nano SIM card to be installed in here anymore so you can get rid of that extra expense on the SIM card because if you have to install a SIM card in here which means you have to pay the monthly payment on that SIM card but this one you don't need it anymore all right first thing first let's power this device up so basically just go into your center console I'm gonna use this USBC plug here and then just plug it in my center console and then I just need to lock it to the device right there then it should be powered up as you can see right here let me close this real quick there you go that's it as you cases on right now um so next thing I have to do is to turn on the Wi-Fi hotspot on my phone and then you have to go to Bluetooth sitting in your phone and then search for There You Go Auto kit these will be different numbers on different device so this is my so just select there should be trying to connect it then it OS to pair then pair and then allow to sync there you go to be connected right now so I can just go into a setting and then I will have to allow it to use SM car play here you go so it should be connecting right now as you can see here there it's connected so the Wi-Fi part it's green and the signal part is green it's connecting right now and this is the internet connection all right now we got everything connected now you go to your um display in the car and then select on the Wi-Fi and select on auto kit a ee2 right here so this is the default password you just use number eight eight times so one two three four five six seven eight and then confirm as you can see here it's connected to that device right now we have to go to settings real quick so you just go to just select Wi-Fi right here and then go to Wi-Fi setting and then just select the network that we selected and then just select on here remain connect it in drive I think we're good to go okay so the device should be connected to the car and we should be able to be able to connect it while the car is driving and it's looking good everything is green now um go to the browser um in your car so basically just click right here select here and then go to browser and then in the browser you just type in test push.com and then enter there you go wow that was quick the connection was really really Snappy like it's there right and then right there and then um and then you just I just have to add to my favorite so I don't have to retype every time I've just put in there you go and then enter and that's it now let's test it okay I was expecting a lot of delay like I have seen in the videos before but with this one so this is the newest version that I'm testing right now this is nothing else like um you know some some YouTubers or other channels already review on this device but this one is brand new you don't need SIM card and it's really responsive as you can see I swipe it just does it right away doesn't have any lag at all there there just does it as I do it so you can download um as many apps as you want um the apps that of course has to be carplay compatible right let's try um Amazon music as you can see us I press the icon it just you know responds right away so there's no lag this is awesome I would expect I want expecting some kind of lag here let's play so when you connected the song make sure you select on your phone I'll put the sound to your car okay so after you select the output for your car make sure you change the source in your car to Bluetooth and then as you can see I'm going to change the Bluetooth and you can hear the song let me stop [Music] it should be connecting right now here you go so it's connected so take a when it's disconnected it took about two seconds and then it we um discover the device and then connect it to my phone again um which is awesome so see every time I press or choose something it happens right away this is the car speaker by the way there you go stop and go back so it's really I'm surprised how responsive um the interface is actually let's go back to home see everything I press here it just it just happened wherever no lag at all wow I'm impressed with this device actually um let's go to map let's go to picture so we can scroll around search on the maps let's see how responsive it is but um you know sometimes it's depends on the the inner connection on my phone too because it's basically I'm connecting um to the phone's internet you know to search anything here as as you can see when I move my finger around it does it right away very very impressive all right let's go back home um okay let's go back to um Amazon music real quick so we can try to use um Alexa okay let's stop that um so let's let's try to use Alexa I guess um I have to be in the app from the phone too okay let's test Elixir here with a carplay again so I I still have to hold this though Alexa turn on 90s hip-hop station 90s hip-hop on Amazon music that's awesome so I can use Alexa from the phone so I can control the music here um wirelessly which is really really cool all right so we can do the music app here um let's check out ways real quick um I want to make sure it works so after this I will take you to a little drive to make sure it's working while we're driving all right let's kill as you can see here I already um already out of the house and the car is in motion it's driving right now let's try to follow whatever ways goes turn left on Dancy Street then turn right on Sumner Avenue as far as the size of the carplay screen wise so this is the probably the biggest turn right on Sumner Avenue you can get but it's quite big enough you know to um to control everything here way more than enough because normally you know regular other car carplay is way smaller than this in 900 feet looks good so far turn right on belgrave Avenue so all the apps are working wow the car in motion again this is not connecting to um the SIM card um whatsoever I didn't put any SIM card in turn right on Bella Brave Avenue so this updated version is faster than the previous one and also no SIM card required so I do not have to pay that um you know monthly pay monthly fees for the SIM card at all which is really cool in one mile turn left on Hamner Avenue all right I'm gonna go back home now we know it's working looks good it is so cool so um like I mentioned before I just put on this display on my Tesla Model Y which doesn't have um carplay or Android auto so I found a way that I can you know put the carplay or Android auto on the actual display of the car and it's really quick and responsive it came to my surprise I was expecting some kind of delay before this test and there's no installation needed you just plug it in basically this this cable right here just to power the device otherwise you can just put that in here and it's still working it's this connects to your phone wirelessly and projected the carplay wirelessly from your phone okay when the music is playing are connected to the company I still can use the button here to control the music Let Me click and should play and I can skip it that is awesome so I can still use the control on the same wheels that I usually use to control regular music in the core on the coffee interface in here which is really really useful and handy so I don't have to actually reach here to change the music at all [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] thank you so before I recorded this video I want to make sure the setup and like instructions is really clear in the instruction manual I did not watch any videos um prior to this I want to make sure you know anyone can just set it up by you know looking at the instruction manual which I did and it's really really simple easy to use Easy to install with no installation just plug it in here now just put it underneath there see it's out the way it's always wirelessly connected okay now let's try to test it if I get off my car and then close the door then the whole system should be off and then re-enter again all right let's get out the core so you can see everything is off the phone's still here with me and then now let's try to go back in he was connected right away there you go let's just connected not even a weight let's do works just fine also if you left the car for a while like overnight and you come back in and try to connect and this show up um just make sure the Wi-Fi it's connect back to the device again which you can see here just select the device to connect and shoot um go back up refresh there you go so just reconnect the Wi-Fi and then refresh the page and then it just reconnect it right away I have seen the similar device like this in the market for a while now but those do have to put the SIM card in and you have to pay monthly fees for the SIM card that's why I didn't you know pick one up and test it with my car but finally they came out with this newest version which you don't have to insert that SIM card anymore it's really easy Plug and Play setup so it worked really well as you can see in the video I'll make
