No copy of Crystal or any Gen II game (whether emulated or original hardware) can ever have a shiny female starter due to how shininess and gender are determined. Since starters have the 1:7 female-male ratio, only starters with Attack IVs of 0 or 1 can be female, and neither of those Attack IVs can produce a shiny.

Certain hidden stats called dv's determined a pokemon stats, gender and shinyness in gen 2. Its impossible for female starters to be shiny due to specific dv's

[Music] shiny pokemon are pretty fascinating they can arguably the best reactions out of Pokemon players and are pretty interesting when you really look into them so interesting now after making two videos going over more or less completely useless facts about the Pokemon franchise I wanted to make one that was exclusively about shinies however because finding 20 interesting facts about shiny pokemon wasn't the easiest task I've decided to get the help of someone who knew a bit more about shiny pokemon than I did hi everyone I'm shiny collector but you can call me LJ as far as shiny pokemon go I'm a bit of a no-life uh I mean expert these are the best shiny facts we could come up with but if you think you have better ones feel free to blow up Alex's comment section and let's see if you can surprise us with any so hey all twenty not so useless more interesting facts about shiny pokemon hopefully there's at least one fact on the list that you didn't know about some shiny pokemon are impossible to get in the games even if the pokemon is findable for instance the Jodha starters an original gold silver and crystal versions can be found and they can be found shiny however they specifically can't be shiny if they're female due to a specific way that the games decide to pokemon this actually applies to all generation to shiny pokemon with a 1 out of 8 chance to be female they can't be both female and shiny another example is Victini most pokemon that are shiny locked get unlocked later on or given out as a shiny through an event but Victini was only findable in black and white and never had a shiny event so it remains unobtainable for three whole generations and a solid in 9 years after its original release there are many examples beyond those two but those are just some of the more notable ones here are some other shiny pokemon that you'll never be able to own not because that they're impossible to exist but rather impossible to catch unless you're a cheater probably the most famous being the uncatchable shiny Poochyena in the gen 3 games it's the first pokemon battle you have but of course you have no pokeballs at this point of the game you think that Game Freak would fix this by shiny locking future uncatchable Pokemon you think other uncatchable Pokemon that can be shiny include to the Ralts that wall-e catches in the gen 3 games although unfortunately if it does start to be shiny it isn't shiny for the rest of the game the Zigzagoon that wally uses to catch the rolls the pokemon the alt mountain finds in FireRed and LeafGreen wild pokemon that appear at the battle pike in emerald as well as rental pokemon that appear in the battle factory some NPC Pokemon in the gen 4 battle frontier win Chino and chinch you know that appear at the very beginning of black and white and black and white to the pearl I'm Bianca caches in black and white - and even fletchling and bunnelby your X&Y rivals use when they show you how to catch a Pokemon how this has continued to three more generations I don't know throughout the generations some Pokemon change shiny colors but did you know that only in FireRed and LeafGreen versions shiny Paris had yellow mushrooms that Paris is my favorite not only does it look best but the mushrooms match Paris ex shiny so it just makes more sense another Pokemon that changed his arm Aldo armaldo had a vibrant ruby red chest in generations 3 & 4 that was swapped for a faded pink in generations 5 and on I don't know about you but I prefer these shiny is with their colors before they changed it up I feel that I should also mention gligar changed its normal form colors three times across generation 4 but it's shiny form stayed that bright blue and for that I'm thankful have you ever wondered why a pokemon got the shiny coal as it did there are some Pokemon whose shiny colors are possibly meant to represent something some examples being volt oven electrode changing to blue to symbolize the great ball and Luvdisc changing to a yellow shade to symbolize a heart of gold however this probably isn't the case and it's just a coincidence considering that Game Freak didn't stop picking the shiny colors until Gen 6 so in terms of shinies after Gen 6 some of the possible ones are greninja becoming black since black is the color most associated with ninjas launcher and Caloris are becoming the colors of what is based on core brawler getting traditional red colored boxing gloves in Sonora since there are white tigers Mineo becomes closer to the color of an actual meteorite palace and since there are black sand beach cheese and mimic you losing its color becoming more ghost-like or even having the life sucked out of the color we've never really had any confirmation of these so there are most definitely other examples out there but these are some of the interesting ones that I came across in generation for the ability cute charm got glitched and somehow ended up affecting shiny odds if you have a very specific ID and secret ID combination your shiny odds are drastically increased to be up to 21% chance for shinies however if you don't have that specific combination cute charm actually shiny locks all of the pokemon that the ability affects meaning that two-thirds of the encounters are shiny locked and it'll take longer to get a shiny on top of that when you get your shiny it'll be one that isn't even affected by cute charm thankfully this was fixed for all games generation five and on but I'd highly recommend avoiding huge harm in generation four if you're going to shiny on we've all seen people guessing more than one shine at the same time however you probably don't want this to happen one playing through generation four if you do manage to find two shiny pokemon at the same time in this gen there is a good chance that your game won't be able to handle it and crash yeah what happened all the time but from what we've seen if only one Sparkle happens say goodbye to both shinies it looks like this mainly occurs when encountering two of the same pokemon as the exact same animations are happening at the same time and the game doesn't like it when two sparkles is supposed to occur at once now the chances of finding two shinies in the same battle in Gen 4 aren't insanely low so this probably will never happen to you unless you're using the cube Chun glitch to abuse the odds then it's probably bound to happen eventually if you didn't know shiny lot or something that prevent / gone from being shiny most people think that these lots didn't start until generation 5 however shiny rocks actually started sooner than that aside from let's go Pikachu and Eevee the NPC in-game trade Pokemon have been shiny locked in every main series game since generation 2 on top of that there are three shiny locks and HeartGold and SoulSilver versions shucky the shuckle from CN would city Kenya the Spiro from the gate north of goldenrod in the notch deer picchu from ilex forest are all shiny locked personally it's heartbreaking that I can never get my little notch deer shiny has a shiny related question for you if ash I need it so transforms into an opposing pokemon who's not shiny will the desert become the shiny version of that pokemon well the answer is disappointingly no except in generation 3 yep engine 3 a shiny DISA will change into the shiny version of whatever it transforms into unfortunately this isn't the case with any other generation but in my opinion this is probably something at gamefreak should consider bringing back across the Pokemon games there are some poke 1 that are guaranteed to be shiny if you ever played a joto game odds are that you know about the famous shiny red Gyarados but that's not the only guaranteed shiny pokemon in pokemon black 2 and white 2 versions if you see every pokemon in the entire regional dex you get taken to a special secret island where you can encounter a shiny Haxorus in pokemon black 2 you can get a second guaranteed shiny a shiny gibble from defeating Banga elders grandson at black tower and in white 2 you get a shiny dratini for beating him at white tree hollow that makes these the games at the most guaranteed shiny pokemon to each and three different ones between the set did you know that was possible to get two shiny stata in the america ruby and alpha sapphire demo kind of so for those of you who didn't play the Auris demo you're given each one of the Hoenn starters as part of your team and the starts pokemon as you guessed have the chance of being shiny but at the same time don't you see if you're lucky enough to get a shiny starter it'll Sparkle an outcome out of the pokeball and it'll have the shiny symbol but it won't appear shiny it'll be in its regular colors instead it just acts like a shiny this can also happen in the let's go Pikachu an Eevee demo which is especially weird since Pikachu anivia shiny locked in the final games not only that but it can once again happen in ultra Sun and Moon with the event ash hat Pikachu I honestly think this is one of the most interesting shiny related things and who knows maybe there are others Pacific Pokemon alpha with the spoke in generation 2 shiny pokemon were based off of stats called DVS while greeting TVs were determined by the parent Pokemon as if they're hereditary this means that if you have a shiny parent Pokemon it's likely that the eggs you get from it are shiny pokemon as well however if the parents are not shinies and don't have the proper TVs that can produce a shiny offspring you cannot hatch a shiny pokemon from that egg this also means that the only Pokemon who can hatch from an egg at full run of 8,192 odds and generations - is the gift togepi egg since it's a gift it's DVS are entirely random almost every Pokemon that has a different form has a shiny for those forms almost curse form of course has its own shiny form however the weather variants don't which is pretty disappointing considering that pretty much every other Pokemon with a form do have their own shiny forms this however is more or less the exact opposite for Magana in its regular form the shiny pretty much stays the same however its original color form has a shiny variant that looks completely different here's some additional information masada may look like it also doesn't have its own shiny form however actually does the green on marShon you see when it performs certain moves changes to a purple in the shiny form which is a pretty nice touch although also quite hard to notice at first a lot of people have told me that they didn't know you can find shiny pokemon in colosseum index d which are spin-offs of the gamecube but you actually can in Pokemon Colosseum only shot a Pokemon that you get from other trainers can be shiny and an XD only non shadow poke one can be shiny it's interesting that they decided to do this and it can be confusing when trying to remember which Pokemon can and can't be shot in in each of these two games to add to this weird decision the Colosseum Pokemon would be normal before you get it and then it turns into a shiny poke one after you get it sometimes these shiny pokemon just don't make any sense there have been several different cases of a Pokemon shiny colors changing over time with one of the most extreme cases being charged shiny and Jen - originally being bonny colored then change into the iconic black on red which in this case I think most people would agree was a massive improvement but that's not always the case in Pokemon go all Chinese retain the same colors as they do in the main series well that's how it's supposed to be when shiny Guster was first released instead of the famous blue gasser has shiny ghastly looked like this probably one of the most disappointing Chinese added to the game in my opinion luckily 9 tick did eventually corrects the colors let's just hope that something like this doesn't occur again a lot of people tell me they've never found a shiny pokemon and that's sad so let's fix that the easiest way to get yourself a shiny pokemon is through ultra space in pokemon ultra Sun and ultra moon versions the shiny odds in there can vary but at rarest Chinese are about 1 out of 100 and that most common they're about 1 out of 3 for any non legendaries and non ultra beast but that still leaves a lot of great shiny pokemon you could easily go get right now so what are you waiting for one of the most famous features of any fighting game is alternative skins for each character so two people picking the same character can distinguish which character they're controlling and this obviously goes for Pokemon in the Super Smash Brothers series now you'd think that at least one of their eight possible skins in the game for each of the Pokemon would be their shiny form but this definitely isn't the case in fact you could argue that none of the pokemon have their shiny forms in the game so let's take a look at the skins that are the closest to their respective shiny colors Pikachu's red hat and party hat skins already close well they're maybe not quite the right shade of yellow none of Jigglypuff skins have green eyes so no shiny skin here or at least not anymore all the Pichu skins are the same shade of yellow so again no shiny one of me two skins come somewhat close however the green on the tail is the wrong shade and the eyes aren't green either one of squirtle skins has a green shell however the blue on it is slightly off there's an Ivysaur skin with yellow petals but has the wrong shade of green on the skin and the eyes aren't yellow there's no black Charizard skin however there is a purple Charizard skin that's somewhat similar to the gen 2 sunny Lucario definitely have a shiny skin as there's no yellow lucario in the game greninja does have a mostly black skin but it's still not colored like the shiny and the tongue isn't the correct shade of red in Sonora has arguably the most accurate looking shiny skin with the only part that slyly off being the gray chest as in Smash it's slightly darker than the irregular version whereas in the actual games the grin the chest is the same shade but I do think it's safe to say that the skin is definitely based on the shiny so overall we technically don't have any shiny forms and smash that are a hundred percent accurate but there definitely are some that come incredibly close for this next one the technology might be a little bit outdated but it's about Pokemon Stadium 2 for the Nintendo 64 if you're playing a generation 2 Pokemon game and you're trying to breed for a shiny pokemon you can know if it's a shiny before the egg hatches through the Nintendo 64 transfer pack you can check eggs on pokemon stadium 2 if the egg has a shiny pokemon inside the egg itself will be a different color than the rest of the eggs that hold that same Pokemon yeah you heard that right it'll be shiny even before it hatches you can basically have a shiny egg it's pretty common knowledge by now that the term shiny pokemon was created by fans due to the sparkling effects that happens when one appears however this term was never made official until the 4th generation where I was used to promote shiny event Pokemon the term was used for the first time in main Series game in black and whites were a couple of people in an embosser city are talking about shiny pokemon however if we go all the way back to Gen 2 we get our you bleed the first official name for shiny pokemon being shining pokemon in the TCG here the shiny pokemon have the title of shining which again may have been the name that was originally intended for shinies but shiny pokemon i think we can all agree rolls off the tongue a lot better in generation 3 there were no ways of changing your shiny odds however there are two pokemon that inherently have different odds in FireRed and LeafGreen none of the unknown are with the original one of 8190 to the shiny odds for each letter change depending on your trainer ID in secret ID they can be one of 5121 in of 6140 for one of mine 216 one dove 10244 wanted of 18,000 432 which is more than twice as rare as the normal shiny odds the other pokémon is jirachi from the colosseum bonus disk this jirachi isn't the typical one and of 8,192 either instead it's one out of seven thousand 282 but good luck if you decide to hunt it because you need to restart your Ruby or sapphire save each time and play for about 10 minutes and so you get the Pokedex just to check one Jirachi so let's go back to my first ever shiny related video on the channel the top 10 hardest pokemon too shiny hunt not only is this video pretty out of date at this point but some of the facts we bring up aren't a hundred percent accurate anymore one of those being exactly held too shiny hunt the pokemon ranger manaphy turns out there is a legitimate way to shiny hunt this thing without having to buy multiple copies of the same game however it still might be the most time-consuming shiny hunt you'll ever do luckily shiny collector has a video on his channel explaining how to correctly shiny hunt manaphy so I don't have to bore you with the exact details of how it works but in short the shiny hunting process basically involves you hatching an egg on one Gen 4 game then if it isn't shiny reset in the game and sending the egg to another Gen 4 game if it isn't shiny deleting the save file sending it to another game and repeating the cycle again it is probably the most time consuming shanahan out there at the moment but definitely an interesting and especially rewarding one although looking at manaphy shiny why would anyone want to go through all that trouble to get a shiny that's exciting as that and those were 20 facts about Pokemon of the shiny variety some of these were really interesting to find outs and I won't have found all of them without shiny collectors help so if you want even more shiny related content whether it's shiny reactions or more shiny riah be sure to check out his channel as it's one of the best channels out there for anything shiny related and if you did enjoy these facts who managed to find and share please leave a like subscribe for more videos in the future and until next time thanks so much for watching [Music]
