this is ABC sports you hear the genius of the coffee you see the brilliance of autumn in mid Pennsylvania a natural palette for the ladies brush but they're stunned becoming the Happy Valley today [Music] they immovable object of Ohio State meets the irresistible force a Penn State one of the defining games of the 1997 college football season the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Penn State Nittany Lions they may stretch the seams of Beaver Stadium some today to get the crowd in the house for this matchup of undefeated Big Ten teams Penn State comes in number two in the nation Ohio State number seven hello again everybody and welcome to Happy Valley when you've had two undefeated teams this time of the year there are a lot of storylines you can follow inevitably it seems though you come back to those who hang around the line of scrimmage however today it may be a little different today we may be dealing with what is the long ball in college football the deep fast some thoughts on that now from our analyst Bob Griese Keith I think one of the nice surprises about this young football season is the play of Penn State quarterback Mike McQueary is a fifth year senior never started before this year he's second in the nation in total offense in passing but he goes up today against today he goes against a team that has really good at testing Ohio State brings in the number one pass defense in the country andy Katz and Moyer their middle linebacker is one of the outstanding players around so he's going to be tested today last week against Iowa Ohio State shut him down I was ranked number one in the nation in all today we're going against an order to Penn State team that's right number two it'll be a great matchup today and the Lions come thundering into the arena [Applause] [Music] Penn State Ohio State coming up John Saunders and Todd Blackledge out to the game in just a moment but first a couple of other big 10 games Michigan rolling on northwestern 23 to 6 there and Michigan State remains unbeaten as well right now they have the big lead over Indiana it's on NBC Penn State Ohio State I'll tell you what Penn State has been explosive 21 scoring drives under three minutes but they can't beat Ohio State today unless they establish a physical presence on the line of scrimmage I think they do that get the win at home alright we'll have all the days schools and highlights at halftime right now is take you out through Lynn Swann Lynn thank you John now both will howl State Penn State have done everything they possibly can do to bring home a victory on the practice field leading up to this ball game but they still did not want a tip the superstitious hands of fate and let me tell you what I'm talking about 21 years ago Whitney Hays by the Chris Emily's spitting away from one tackle but then being taken down short of the line of scrimmage the Chili's starting lineup now for Ohio State along the offensive front Eric Koston at center he's the bell cow he's played three different positions in his career two sophomores in the junior finished kaput in the receiving corps David Boston the big target I'm sorry I'm mixed up here to Penn
