hey there boys and girls youtube world today dog and i are going to see if we can't get a 1977 dodge monaco running yep we're doing a mopar [Music] oh here she is look at those appliance five spokes oh yeah red racing stripes red vinyl top that's for sale maybe we can get a hold of the previous owner oh door's stuck keys are in it buckets eight track footpen gas pedal hopefully that's right they're hr 7015s mobiles i wonder how long it's been since mobile sold tires oh can't be that long they're radials oh this thing she's gonna be good little rust in the dog leg up there let's get a door open come on oh yeah i'm sure those seat covers oh look at that they just turned to dust some golden lights and he ripped the darts i mean you smoke you poke be an eight-track oh for sure it's a samuel that's right oh definitely rip the darts all of the darts headliner isn't too bad need the horn just in case you're tempted to put race fuel it's unleaded only oh we did have the subs there's the wires for it let's get under the hood see we got going on here oh my gosh really that all they use for a brake pedal is just a flat strap bent at a 90. oh hey there's the horn cover good to go come on get up there fixed it cruise control dang dang i gotta get under the hud no power windows the power locks oh it's got the remote mirror doodadder on there though for all you kids who play the video games minimum tire size f78-15s or fr 78-15s even tells you how many passengers you can have six passengers feel sorry for whoever had to ride on that thing factory shag oh yeah ashtrays in the doors and in the center console or the dash i guess what's going on in here oh that's that's a lot of ugliness up there ac oh for sure come on open up here a purvis blade out here come on get open oh just mouse poops and some old registrations disappointing and some spearmint from oh juicy fruit dang dang that's way better checker oh oh yeah the mopar turn signals just case you need to know which way you're going when you're in the car just keeps you from leaving them on let's load her up nor the only flat on the bottom but probably should have brought some air with [Music] there you go let's go set the trailer down tire down we can get the french out of [Music] here [Music] i don't know if we've had a mopar on here in a while we got the king which is the leaning tower of power which you can't kill other than i killed it but that's for another episode anywho uh found an online auction on the cowboys side of the state that we're in and this was the only thing on there that i could afford i don't know what i'm gonna do with it but the price was right the price wasn't right it was the cheapest thing there so we got it got a title it's red um if you look it up richard petty had one so you know it's good it's got wannabe craggers on it i hate craigers don't ask me why i hate craggers or flexi hoses or what else do i hate headers oh i hate headers and a certain parts store but anyway that's for another tale let's take a look at this thing it's a monaco which is like a cordoba er except for a cordoba is a chrysler and this is a monaco which is a dodge i don't know is that a city in italy no i think it's its own freaking country i don't know if it's got the rich corinthian leather like the cordoba but it had a vinyl roof until it got torn off with all the horsepowers this thing's got it's got the appliance stamp steel rusty kreger wannabe five spokes i did throw some tubes in the tires so that it kind of rolls it's got the rally pack stripe whatchamacallit thinger going there so i mean it looks moderately acceptable it reeks something fierce inside quarter panels they're a bit chewy tail lights got knocked out from getting pushed around it hasn't been registered since 1989 so it's been off the road for 32 years holy buckets that's a while um i do have the other tail light i think somewhere it's got some really weird lip rust oh hey there's that taillight bucket and a spare lug nut not much in there yeah oh man this quarter's a little bit better but still a little rusty i don't know i don't know what are we gonna do with this thing the inside is so bad it's really you're gonna go in there oh god it's so bad in there let's get out of there gross let's just put it in park and it's gross we had to do some finangling to get the hood open but cooperstown karsten got her open because he is the mopar king it's got the stacked headlights i think that was a 77 first year that somebody's gonna tell me that i'm wrong right duff somebody always tells me i'm wrong it still stinks god i think it's bad oh those are some sweet hood hinges so it's just like a torsion bar that rides on those yeah hopes and dreams what's that i don't know why why do you put a tag on your master cylinder cruise control i think we determined it's a 360. oh yeah that's how we determined it through all the mouse poop oh sears air cleaner to go with the sears tires look at these sweet sears tires we took off from the old monica i would say their shot a little hairy usually don't want that in the tire look at this they come from sears where does it say sears on it we saw it on here somewhere weather-wise radials all right there sears and they had to mark them used comment down below if you know what that was for let's mark them for warranty they mark them as used or what i don't know even the wheel weights are mark used how neat is that duff it's got the big york pump air compressor is it loose uh i don't know i guess we're gonna find out we do have the keys why is this not bolted up hmm must have electronic ignition 77 should should should is it there i don't know it's an electronic ignition remote bar it's got a balanced resistor but isn't that the ignition module box thinger mobber i don't know it's got a vacuum amplifier oh yeah because it's probably got a huge lopey cam in it so it's probably gonna be real good i did notice that some of the exhaust got ripped off on the trailer unloading it so that's good i feel like this bracket should be on there and not all bent to crap but that's besides the point it's got an automatic it's got fluid in the transmission i'm sure it's burnt because it's a mopar this was an estate sale so we don't know why it was parked because the guy's no longer with us didn't have anybody to ask plug wires aren't all chewed off where's the dipstick duff dog battery cables seen better days that's disgusting found it that's thinking with your dipstick jimmy oh yeah she's right to the ad line good enough hopefully it turns over so the first thing we're gonna do is we're gonna cut that fuel line so we don't pull up any nasty 32 year old fuel from the tank and put a battery in see if it turns over i'm sure it'll be fine we haven't had anything that's been stuck for several episodes so should be good plus it's not a ford well we haven't dealt with the mopar yet here we go so it's got a crimp on clamp on there so i don't know how we're going to get that off i'll just cut the line for now i'll figure the rest out later oh a great big two barrel sweet eat that batter yet duff we got things making noise maybe the keys on i think these have a solenoid on them to turn them over i think it's this one but we're going to try the key because i want to put my face in that putrid smell oh this one's real chewy should be good now i tried to turn over so maybe we'll give it some assistance get the pipe wrench [Applause] maybe we'll even pull the spark plugs out [Music] might just be a bad connection on the starter circuit so we're going to spray some zeppelin down there to help things out and then maybe try turning over by hand and then we'll go ahead and address any issues with the electrical circuitry and whatnot it just seems like the right thing we gotta get this thing running we're gonna lose the shop i'm gonna take the plumbing wrench here put it on the end of the power steering pulley see if it turns over oh boy that uh that might be the issue oh yeah not looking good i don't remember what these mopars have for an inspection cover because i'm not uber familiar with them so a lot of the chevys and some of the fords you can get on that ring gear and really get a bite because you don't want to turn that nut to the end of the crankshaft because usually that just that ends in a bad day when you start doing that so if you can get on the flywheel or the flex plate or the ring gear whatever you're gonna call it you can really reef honor get garbage like this to come loose maybe the best thing is just leave it sit overnight which i think is what i'm gonna do what is this what is this handy-dandy anti-theft switch up front here [Music] what are you for running over here inside there oh is it for the ac well that's not that much fun why is it under yours we'll check that out let her sit overnight put a little deep creep in there but you got a neighbor you call that anyhow you can see i got it to turn a couple of degrees you can see where the belt was wedged into the pulley and half of it's still in there that's all the further i got it so we have to work her back and forth hopefully it comes out of it gosh dang mopars i don't know if i'm sold on this stuff yet we'll see so we're not really having any luck getting this engine to turn over so i think we're going to pull the radiator out and get some more access on things to pry on and such i really wish mopar would have had an access cover down on the flex plate so we can really reef on it but here we go good news is it had coolant in it and it's green ish so i mean block shouldn't froze up well now what are we gonna pry on seemed like a good idea let's get that fan out of the way here's where things get a little bit hairy we're gonna go ahead and twist on that hex that's threaded into the crankshaft i don't think things are gonna go very well oh my gosh oh what's gonna happen if we go the other way no bolt loosens of course well let's try something new um i've always thought about making an adapter that goes on the the harmonic balancer that we could really pry on so we'll give that a whirl i think what i'm gonna do let's take that bottom pulley set up off and use that as a template and drill some holes in a flat plate and maybe weld some tubing to it or a socket or something see what we can come up with that hopefully doesn't ruin anything like we did on the 53 ford guess what that did yeah that was stupid oops all right let's blow her apart you can see just how stuck the belts are into that pulley oh boy probably have to clean that up before we slam it back on there and really six bolts holding it on there mopar was not messing around now let's see what we can come up with so here's what i got thus far this took a chunk of scrap i don't know what that is eighth inch 10 gauge something like that use that pulley as a template by golly uh even kind of lines up since this slides inside of the harmonic balancer i got to trim it off so that it's pretty close the same diameter as that so probably just wing the corners of this off and then i think i'm just going to weld a socket right to that those six bolts should be more than enough to hold it really that center one's just going to be kind of to clamp it these perimeter 5 16 bolts are going to keep it from twisting that's what's going to be wanting to shear off so i really don't think that one in the middle is going to do us much good so trim that off and well the socket to it see what we got that looks terrible but good enough for who it's for it ain't pretty seriously come up with i rounded it off a little bit more i took my hole saw stuck a hole through it then i had this uh gray canadia 22 millimetric socket i don't know why i would ever need that so i welded that in there just off kilter because why would we weld it in there perpendicular like it should be the reason i drilled that hole is that way i can not only weld it on this side but on this side i feel like the well's not gonna break we'll break off those bolts or share the keyway or something first stick it on there here goes nothing i think i'll just walk right over this thing can't be stuck that bad oh my ah since it turned clockwise looking from the front here i was gonna try to turn it counterclockwise because i know it turned a little bit at one point but she is stuck oh goodness so i'm gonna have to jack it up get under there with the bar where i get a straighter shot at it it's stuck holy buckets yeah we got it to budge yay but it only turns that far is there a hole in the side of the block no block windows yay yay it's time to make the [Music] more donuts let's back her up here's some noises back there [Music] [Applause] spread some more deep creep down there and went and had some lunch left her sit for a while with it turned all the way the opposite way that it was stuck when we started i'm just gonna keep trying to work it back and forth and hopefully that brings it loose really hope we don't have to pull the starter off to get in there and that there's something hung up in there worse yet pull the entire engine apart because at that point we'll just kick it to the curb freaking mold putters on duff what's that put a mark on it okay well looks like we can rotate it about 90 degrees duff's checking out the exhaust what's that there's critters in the tailpipe okay that's probably why it's locked up good call i'll just keep slaving away up here you do your manual smell inspection oops we got it further but i don't think our cobalt ratchet is ever going to be the same oh yeah we got it like another 30 degrees there oh that's the end of the cobalt ratchet oh way past [Applause] i think we're making a full revolution viva revolution so what about mine dude don't get sprayed by the deep creek though this stuff actually smells pretty good almost aromatic bed bath and beyond should carry that deep cream let me go to the mall and get a new cobalt flex head rash we should i got some more deep creep how about that so now that it's turning over i think i'll throw the plugs back in it well before we do that better figure out what kind of ignition system it's got it's got to be electronic i think mopar went to electronic 4 gm did like 73 4 2 i don't know see if we can get spark first and then we'll throw some plugs back in it turns over easier without the plugs all right yep electronic so if we can figure out what the starter relay is so that we can hook up the loser switch then i can see what's going on as opposed to having duff turn the key he's not real keen at that i think it's this one though so if i disconnect that still turn over it does not so if i hot wire that does it do anything got all kinds of spark shooting off the coil so i guess let's clean up inside the cap and the rotor or at least take a peek at it a little corrosion in there let's clean that off of there nice and shiny silly mopar has got the slot in the shaft and distributor pointing that way but the rotor points this way everything's backwards they said it'd have the bale clips on the distributor cap so it's easy to pop on and off where's their spark plugs on the roof of course auto light 65s i don't think i got any that one's a little chewy let's hit her with the wire wheel see if we can put one of the wires through my eyeball goodish is new worthless knowledge of the day mopar small block firing order is the same as a small black chevy 18 43 65 72 orange plug wires these ought to be real good how many horsepower this thing is 77 probably not a real high horsepower here probably be lucky to be 175 horsepower oh of course the throttle linkage is stuck well we'll address that in a minute so clearly we never check for a compression here because there's really no good way to fix it i guess we should maybe pull the valve cover see if the rocker arms are moving and valves and push rods and all that stuff but too late for that now so let's get that carburetor freed up and give it some fuel because compression fuel and sparks all you need we know we got spark we know the carburetor stuck so why are you stuck i mean joke is wreath what's your deal high schools look in there see what's holding up the show looks like some critters have made some nests in there awesome i really want to take that off of there so i got the shaft to move on the throttle but the blades aren't moving that ain't right so i guess we're gonna have to take it off of there perfect i think we got everything except for the fuel line and the four bolts that hold it down [Music] there you can see what we got going on looks like that blade's starting to open and this one's staying closed so i maybe put a little twist in that shaft because it's it's off idle probably going to have to do some tweaking do some soaking see if we can't get it loose it is a holly michigan sure it's real good inside so the car didn't look too bad on the bottom but she's pretty rusty inside full of stuff that's not supposed to be inside of carbonators so i should probably clean that out of there but you still got to get this loose first otherwise there's no point in cleaning it so i've been heating it zapping it flake comes out of it hopefully this twist i put in the shaft isn't too detrimental well figured out one way or another freaking joke damn you mopars that's hot so i couldn't get this thing loose duff's pissed about it we're gonna leave it sit in some apple rust here for a while and hopefully it clears it up so we can get that uh butterfly doing butterfly things how are we gonna get that belt out of there [Music] [Music] we don't have any mopar length belts so good thing there's two of them these things are just gonna have to be real strong [Music] so so i got this 3 8 bolt uh it's not the pivot bolt it's the tension bolt on the power steering pump that i need to get loose to tension the belt up and uh goes into an aluminum water pump housing thing here i don't think this is going to go real well steel bolt aluminum housing put a regular wrench on it it didn't move so i feel like it's either going to break or just pull the threads out we got the camera rolling something good is surely going to happen i wouldn't really care because it's just power steering we don't really need that but also turns the fan and it's super loose right now so i'm probably going to want to tension that out guess i could go find a smaller belt hmm are you just going to break so what you're going to do so you want to do break oh son of a biscuit yeah that's definitely not tight enough so after leaving the carburetor base plate throttle blade thing and some evaporate overnight and still give it a bunch of heat with the propane torch and some zeppelin we got lewis hooked everything back up checked for vacuum leaks i loosened up the distributor cap so we can adjust the timing well the distributor assembly so we can adjust that a little bit there's just so many vacuum hoses that one could be chewed through somewhere i don't know the battery back up and give it some voltage and some fuel and see what the flip happens at least now we'll have a gas pedal inside because i really want to sit on this stinky thing should probably put a hose clamp on that slingshot engage slingshot engaged gasoline gushing out in here just pick up gas like you're supposed to that's the old stuff give her a little hot sauce see what the happens little starter why is there not fuel in the carbonator don't tell anybody i'm using an open hand all kinds of fuel there oh it smells like old gas from what we're pushing up through the pump and everything else guessing we got a stuck full awesome i was telling myself that i should open up that carburetor when i had it on the bench but here we are i didn't want to tear into it anymore than i had to because i don't have any parts for it so i guess we'll just keep pressing our luck tearing that carburetor apart hopefully we can just open the top and play with the needle and seat then we'll get fuel and then we'll find out the accelerator pumps dried up and so on and so forth but such is life silly mopars well more carburetor stuff well monica's really living up to her name here she really freaking blows yeah that smells like old gas for sure stink ass stinky she is real dry so there's the uh hoover schniff that's filling the carbonator i think we'll be able to just blow that right out of there it'll be fine it actually doesn't look as bad as i thought it would i mean it's not good but then sure enough the needle and seat is stuck up so old monica what was that son of a biscuit but it was the washer off that we don't need that oh monica she likes the booger sugar and she is one stuck-up bee duff has given up for the night the quest continues we're gonna blow that out a bit and we're gonna disassemble that a little bit we're gonna whammy back together the key is not to tear the gasket when you take it apart just sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't remember how it goes back together and then try to put it back together that way i always have real good help with you right duff want to go for a ride that's how you know he's out when you say the rid oh i start spelling it now when you're on to me you're a lot of help today all right back at it carburetor things so we blew monica's top off that needle and seat was stuck pretty good but got that all cleaned out yeah that's good enough i like doing things multiple times we'll just put it back together go in there accelerator pump still moves what'd we forget [Music] oh now we got fuel pouring out everywhere [Applause] of course of course what are you so there's a couple of little lead plugs down in the bottom of the bowl i don't know if they're part of the machining process or casting process or what but one of those appears to be rotted through so fudge this one we're going to tear that apart and uh jb weld it or something flex seal i think is what i'm going to use but i'm going to take it off to do it because son of a biscuit oh monica you really do blow i guess i'll take that apart again sweet here's where our leak was there's these two leaded over holes that are plugged apparently the lead fell out of this one never seen that happen before but we're gonna whammy some seal all in there really good luck with this stuff it's it's kind of like jb weld but it's for gasoline and oil you got a co-worker that's got a i know this truck ford f and ranger and that's holding the drain plug in this hot rod for like the last five years so it's pretty good stuff oh yeah if you guys need some decals we got some new ones out we got big ones we got small ones oh we got the yellow pickup too hit me up with an email if you want some decals emails down in the description let's slobber this in there see how it goes this stuff might be old and used up imagine that get in there go in the hole why didn't you just go home that's your home are you too good for your home yeah let's try a new blob yeah yeah i should be using flex seal i know paul this is not going well not real confident on that how long we got to leave it sit don't get in your eyes nauseous oh it contains meth i'm unmet i wonder it's so good it's got a warranty though i guess we just leave it sit there until she hardens up called good let that carb set up overnight to seal all we're gonna see if it's sealed at all weather's way nicer today so we can open the door and let the stink out when this thing fires up because i'm pretty sure she's gonna light right off but if not we'll at least be able to just kick it outside and get it out of our lives so all right let's see how bad that carburetor leaks hopefully it don't oh boy appears as the float isn't working because it's pushing fuel up through that breather but accelerator squirters are working it's not leaking on our plug so maybe that's electric pump's got too much pressure sometimes that's an issue you need a regulator so we'll just leave that off and see what happens here goes nothing why are you not starting you should have plenty of fuel you probably have too much fuel where's our hammer at hopefully it's just a float sticking [Applause] we fix it or we run out of gas either way it's not spitting out through that breather holyo all right let's try it again i think i'm gonna get in this stinky sob and mash her to the floor because i feel like it's got some fuel to clear out sure seems like it's flooded out or the timing's off or it needs a huge tune-up let's adjust that timing since we loosened that up a little bit that's a good ways so well it's way better if we get it to turn some more i don't think so i wonder if somebody didn't mess with the plug wires at one time or were doing something and that's why it was parked but i got that distributor turned all the way that way and we're out of adjustment so i think what i'm going to do is rotate these wires all one plug over and turn her back a little bit see if that helps out hopefully that makes her run a little bit better yet i think that's the way we got to go which way does this thing turn [Music] oh yeah clockwise so seeing how this rotor spins clockwise and we're trying to turn the cap counterclockwise i'm gonna move all these plug wires one position over counterclockwise [Music] yeah that'll make it run way better maybe i always like to do them one at a time that way they go back to where they were hopefully you get it right didn't really sound like it was popping that bad so i think the firing order's right i don't think anybody's got that screwed up but [Music] let's see what this does advanced a bit too far we're gonna turn her back some so you can tell it's advanced too far the way it pre-ignited there how it like stalled the starter so i turned that distributor back clockwise a little bit and that should the timing a little bit well you gotta go some more yet [Music] [Applause] [Music] i want to do there gonna run out of gas [Music] it's that hot [Music] turn you son of a biscuit there we go [Music] [Music] there's something that it doesn't like when i open the choke and it's it's got to be warmed up it's 60 degrees i don't know what's going on there trying to adjust the idle air mixture screws and they are seized probably should have cleaned all this stuff when i had this carburetor off one of the nine times i don't even know if it runs good enough to go around the block usually when you gotta have the choke part way on that means you're trying to restrict some air to match up with the amount of fuel you got so you're not getting enough fuel so you've got a passageway somewhere in the carburetor that's plugged and you're not getting enough fuel through it like you should and that's why it's kind of running rough or it's not sitting smooth i think one of the idle mixture circuits is plugged up that could be because of the gasket having a hole in it or plugging an orifice or dirt in there rusts whatever what do you think dolph what do you think silly mopars there we go maybe we got some more internal issues i don't know [Music] maybe i'll get the heat gun out see which cylinders we're not hitting on if we got any that we're not hitting on 250 260 270 220 [Music] um [Music] oh man oh there we go 220. so the cylinders are all pretty close a couple on this side are a little bit cooler than the rest so i don't know if the idle mixture screw on this side isn't doing its thing or what but maybe we should start doing compression tests on these motor stuff before we try starting them [Music] thank you pull all the spark plugs out a couple of them look pretty wet but didn't see anything too crazy didn't have new plugs on hand got some new ones coming hopefully they're here tomorrow duff said do a compression test didn't you so we did that we got our snapon compression tester here and everything is pretty good that whole bank was 75-ish psi good enough should run these front two are 75 then i didn't get anything on what i would call the number five cylinder i thought maybe my gauge gave up the ghost so we put it on number seven and had zero there as well so spun the engine over stuck my light in there i could see the piston going up and down so maybe we got a valve hanging up something like that so i think what we're gonna do now is pull the valve cover off well if i've ever told you guys how i do compression tests there's a lot of ways to do it but the way i do it is make sure all your plugs are out and then one thing that a lot of people don't know is make sure your carburetor the throttle blades are wide open and it's usually easiest if you do it from under the hood so i got this starter relay bypassed makes life a lot easier so you're not climbing in and out of the car and you can hold the gauge and look at it i'm going to blow some of the mouse house fecal matter and such off the valve cover here on the driver's side and hopefully we got like a rocker arm that's loose or a push rod that's bent because the piston looks like it's intact and sure enough those two plugs were really wet here we go the moment of truth probably didn't have regular oil changes and there is no adjustment on these push rods or rocker arms or anything that i can see then again i'm not really a mopar guy how do you adjust the valves you just get what you get it seemed like it was getting some suction so to me seems like the rings would be good but it wasn't getting any compression on the way back up so we're just going to turn it over see if any of them are not moving sure enough the intake on both those cylinders are not moving so you tell these are the exhaust because there's your exhaust port there's your exhaust port so it's these two and then your intake shares that intake runner right there you see these two ain't moving no bueno [Music] got good oil pressure though uh either these lobes are flat or [Music] they're off the i don't know i don't know well i think we're gonna pull this rocker shaft assembly off and see if we can't get a light in there or magnet and see if the push rods are bent or if the lifters collapse what we got going on there hopefully we don't have flat lobes in the cam shaft because that's pretty much going to be the end of this project that's the case [Music] i think i found the issue uh that's supposed to slide out of there yep the push rods are bent real good so i'm guessing these were the cylinders that were stuck now that i think back one of those was the one that had the water in it so that valve was stuck open on the intake water went through the carburetor and it got the valve all rusty so i bet those valves are sticky and uh that's what bent our push rods we gotta figure out how to get those push rods over there what other kind of shrapnel we got in here anybody know what that is we'll save that any other bad ones we got sweet how are we gonna get you out of there i know how oh yeah that's fine now where are we going to find two of them we'll dig through the mopar pile that we don't have yeah let's spray some zeppelin on there let's whack some valves of the hammer before we get too excited that's a favorite pastime of mine put a little zeppum on these and give the old valve loosening tool here 60 of the time works every time sixty percent of the time it works every time that doesn't make sense see how that one sounds yeah they stuck awesome we just need a bigger hammer these valves didn't kiss the pistons i really hope those valves didn't get bent because they're not really wanting to return back up so worried about the stem being bent and short of pulling the head not really sure how we're gonna be able to see in there maybe we'll get some more bars in there see what happens damn you monica you suck you don't suck you need to suck [Music] [Music] you ain't seen dumb until you've seen a guy put a slide hammer on the top of a valve son of a biscuit didn't hurt it it'll be fine just need to get it to come up a little bit more that's right we're freaking carpenters at morsky's i was thinking that this intake valve wasn't coming up all the way but it looks like the intakes don't come up quite as far as the exhaust when you put this straight edge it catches the exhaust but not the intakes it's real freaking close though maybe it does i don't know to me it should but that one doesn't quite touch it we're not getting feeler gauges out we're not getting that technical i suppose we could put our compression tester in that hole hook air up to it see if it's sealing there's an idea it's going to come off the carburetor i bet because it's not sealed let's try this back one that one looks like it most of the way up but it's not quite all the way up i don't think any bets on where this air comes out bet you a sandwich on it that comes out the intake yep just for s's and g's let's try it on one of the good cylinders in theory it should hold pressure not come out anywhere but usually it leaks somewhere on a worn out piece of crap like this damn you monica you know how to take a big hose there you go that's a a good cylinder and that actually sounds like it's going by the rings and going into the oil system see how it doesn't change note when i open the choke it means it's not going by the intake doesn't sound like it's going into the exhaust so it's definitely going past the rings and into the crankcase this is a fun game to play the game of disappointment the dodge disappointment that is monaco this one's just gonna whistle all right through the carburetor oh yeah there's what i expected to hear and that's gonna mean backfires to the carburetor if we get it running without fixing that valve sweet that's weird the engine turned over when i did that snapped back into place now it's hissing past the piston rings and coming off the oil galleys there it is right where it needs to be so we're just going to leave it all the way up it's getting kind of late tonight here try to get that other one all the way up like that soak a snot out of them come back tomorrow still gotta find push rods anyway if we can't get these leagues loosened up so probably just good to leave them soak even though we are probably gonna lose the shower [Music] so duff and i spent a couple hours smacking on that valve with our plethora of bars and hammers and using a bunch of zap got them pretty loose but i'm still not certain that they're going to be sealing but i'm sick of dealing with it so i want to rob a couple push rods out of the old mobile board ski rig stay tuned for that beast it's a 68 dodge d100 short bed with a service unit on it that's got a 318 in it that's missing some parts already so still some push rods out of that i'm going to stick some plugs in there and see what happens aren't we duff what'd you do richard what'd you do stick some plugs in there some wires up light this baby off i'm gonna leave the valve cover off just so i can see what's going on if we gotta spray some lube on it or tap it with a hammer probably with the bar or if i just get pissed at it and want to whale away on it with the mall see what happens hopefully it runs a lot better thinking it's gonna run at least seven though instead of just six who knows slingshot engaged slingshot engaged our timing's probably way off because we're playing with it then we shouldn't have i wonder if we shouldn't move all those wires back to where they were which way was that turns clockwise so we moved them counter clockwise so moving back clockwise again all right now it's gonna go [Applause] i don't know does it sound any better so okay so suck the valve cover back on played around with that valve for a little while both the valves hit them with some hammers tried on with some pry bars and i did a compression test and it's still [Music] it's not good so hoping maybe just firing it up and revving the snot out of it it'll just clear itself out one other thing we could do is uh there might be a vacuum leak so i might get a can of brake cleaner and spray around or maybe just cap off some of these lines that look pretty crusty see if that's where our issues at but let's fire it up see what happens [Music] nope the old italian tune-up just ain't gonna clean her up i think this thing's gonna have to come apart thinking that there's some rust behind that valve and that's keeping it from coming all the way up or the piston kissed it or it got bent or damaged but i'm pretty sure this head's got to come off and got to figure out why we can't get compression on these two cylinders and just working them back and forth just wasn't doing it spraying lube on it prying on it tapping on it i just couldn't get any compression on those two cylinders so i think the head's got to come off and i got better stuff to work on than a 77 monaco so i think monica here is going to go out to pasture for now another learning experience i guess we learned that mopars are a little bit harder to start than a gm maybe pull the valve covers off and take your rockers i don't know that that would have helped either because we've taken that off we had to turn it over slow enough to see if all the pistons were not hitting the valves i don't know either way not really out anything this is a smog engine it's a 360. nothing crazy and i don't think it really hurt it do a valve job maybe stick a couple valves in it should be fine so there you have it i guess we got it to run i mean technically we probably could try to drive it see if the training works it hit the brake pedal when i was in there and there is fluid in it so i feel like it's probably got brakes i really don't need a 77 monaco and was gonna use this for a donor i don't think it's good enough for a donor without going through the engine and i'm gonna do that i could just well find a different 318 or 360 with a four barrel or 440 or 400 so many options so let me know what you want to see me do with this thing should we keep going through it should we send it on down the road should we steal parts off it put in another project let me know comment down below other learning experience mortsky and duff appreciate it thanks for watching check out my other videos remember it's been already done as long as you're having fun that was kind of fun we should we should see if this single drive let's pick our trolls up see if she'll run might as well get stuck on the side of the road somewhere [Music] it's a great day to walk home [Music] you
