14 Miles on the River! (Camping and Kayak Fishing for BIG Fish)

river rats i'm an idiot but you're a crafty bunch and you probably already knew that i gonna do a big float like 14 mile camp outflow and i forgot my brush clips and my stakeout pool so i'm gonna have to get creative and that's what brings us to dollar general all right i'll be back all right i got the goods got a rope got this beautiful heart carabiner clip and then i have some additional fuel fishing fuel show you what i'm going to do with it when we get to the ramp assuming i don't lose it between here and there you're going to love this so i got this heart-shaped carabiner clip because i forgot my brush that one's not for climbing right no i don't think so i don't think i'd trust any carabiner clip for climbing even the ones that say they are really i propelled off all the buildings well i'm sure but you're tougher and more of a man than i am i'm just scared just scared little boy so i got my carabiner clip i do a uni knot two turns and all of a sudden i have a brush clip just go around the branch and and it's has lots of love to it so it's going to be better i'm going to have to do that well i have plenty of rope i got a bunch of peppercorns oh and i forgot my uh stakeout pole too so i'm just gonna just gonna use my rod holder and shove that in the bank and then clip this onto it see i should have been an engineer we have very little downstream current but a lot of upstream wind i'm in a little spot that's kind of blocked right now all that means is my shoulders are gonna like double in size by the time we're done with this float how deep is that two feet three feet there might be one hiding in there i'm gonna keep looking i haven't turned my fish finder on yet this system might even work better than my regular system never thought about it till just now multi-use all right i got my loving clip flip it to rod holder clean it off and i'm in business i just need to start fishing yeah i'm not sure if i'm even moving no nibbles yet still uh we're just gonna keep hitting spots then we get a big nibble i feel like a bobber right now though it even bounces you find on the river that would have been 100 mile an hour but the wind knocked it down oh i'm not very good at throwing stuff oh it's like an automatic ball return machine what's the odds of finding a basketball on an island in the middle of a river i'll bet you a thousand dollars you do not find a set of iphones got an ugly one come here [Music] giant but we're on the board in this hurricane type wind that's not even that funny considering we basically got hit with an inland hurricane like three weeks ago but it's pretty breezy and uh it was a welcome sight i'd keep them but we got a ton of food that we've gotta get through okay later all right into a log that wasn't what i was trying to catch i think we had a turtle or a car you know what i'm leaving that's my cue that was what he tried to take down the hatch how do my raccoon eyes look oh yeah i don't get raccoon eyes because i'm a ginger i guess i could burn and get raccoon eyes it was slow day not much to report we're gonna head up there and go build a campfire and cook lots of really good food and hopefully catch something stupid big the x's and o sound good now i just gotta execute gotta execute it was super nice of you guys to give me the good spot we need to have two or three rods right here probably then the rest of them bomb them at the [Music] trees oh that's nice and sloppy i will leave my dry shoes on that side what kind of spread we looking at can we hold that for you i can do that this isn't your first potato rodeo i see did you cut those potatoes with it with your bait knife was washed this morning that's river certified everything anything ever we watched this morning but there's no uh bluegill scales in our potatoes day you need me to do something i just feel kind of worthless standing around unless you rigged that pole i broke off for me okay where's your tackle okay what kind of rig you want oh yeah get him you're gonna bring oven mitts that's awesome i have tongs maybe i'll be a real fisherman once i get it yours floats you don't need to do nothing else that's all you could ask for to kayak if you ask me hmm turtle how's he look you can see where he grabbed him right there and slid down didn't have the mustard to finish the job what a weenie it's getting crazy over here i'll probably do this every night in heaven be cool to see the white bass busting though i don't even get bacon wrapped fillets anytime anytime yeah i can't afford that i'm a school teacher i can't either but when they're on sale i want to eat good that's fair that's not gonna suck bacon wrap filets and potatoes on the grill oh you flipped them twice i suppose that's excusable when you're cooking over fire yeah it's a little harder to maintain understood i do like that thing that's slick it's awesome i've done pizzas on have you really been thinking oh yeah sweet corn everything's trickier outside but everything tastes better outside [Music] where's these paper plates you speak of oh duh ooh tongs all right [Music] i'm gonna eat this steak like a cave man a little ketchup that kind of sounds nice too do i dare put ketchup on a filet i feel like that'd be sacrilegious but i like ketchup on potatoes all right potatoes yeah they're as good as they look maybe better i'll work the bullheads excited oh yeah yep oh nope i'm over the top i think i think so didn't expect this this early oh yeah i'll try he ain't done yet he just soaked my uh cot oh thank you trying to figure out where the hook was i understand the wrong spot oh he was hooked really really really good why can't every 50 pounder get up like that okay this is a good start i was sitting here thinking there's no way we're gonna catch a fish right now and then i hear my clicker scream and it's probably been screaming for days and a nice plump one and i will let him go i can feel the mosquitoes biting into my back [Music] not a bad sign nice job bud thanks hey corey is this a good look for me i love this thing best dollar 50 i ever spent football helmet football and the cubs hat helps keep the net away from my face flathead fishing represents baseball so well because it's like you win and you lose you just try to win more than you lose i don't feel like the right one you gonna do it i want to return to the safety of my thermacell zone might have just been my my bait got real excited take it down i don't know he is he ain't bad he's heavy kind of feels like a turtle no head shakes nope not a turtle where's the head shakes oh no he's saving this fight for the bank i guess ain't bad stop either he just felt heavy and didn't do a whole lot and then he decides to do a whole lot when you grab him getting hooked on me really well he got to the bank two fish eat me thank you this is gonna be short sweet and to the point before i get annihilated by bugs but success we have a two fish evening feel good about it letting him go though definitely going to let him go in the dry spot though oh he's tuned up mildly tuned up [Music] just got done a knitting sweater thought it was because of the bait just because of this little fella cory's apologizing to him he should be apologizing to me because it tangled every single one of my lines i don't think he pulled much clicker if any at all then he probably just uh drug it into every other line oh there you go nice that's a fish hey three fly head night nothing but giants proper hygiene is important even out here corey the deodorant was more for you than me though i need some caffeine in my life and here we are it's not too bad and it's in a red white and blue can or has red white and blue accents which makes me like it more feel like this they have to they should have an exclamation point at the end though oh my nasty freaking shoes oh that's crusty i feel so fancy bringing a set of camp shoes until i want my camp shoes hey i'm going to go fishing you guys want to go fishing's fun you should do it [Music] oh yeah just a giant oh wait am i gonna keep my bait too sweet six pound line a bobber drifting a little chunk of cut bait then catching cats like that it's actually fun on this gear i don't know what it is about these high clay banks and channel cats i mean this is a little guy but the big ones like these too of course now that i leave the camera on i can't get a bite cory's sitting there on some brush so i'll probably drift by him just in time to watch him reel in a 50 pounder that'd be pretty sweet really miss that one i will i have a dinky little hook a big chunk of bait and i have this rigged up for like fishing with a live minnow and i got a chunk of cup bait on so uh yeah i'll take what i can get if i'm lucky enough to hook one i'll be happy i should put a bigger hook on but i'm not gonna do this very long oh there's a bite there we go my bull head doesn't like him all right this is this is fun come on got him all right good morning again this this this really woke me up these are better than monsters for waking me up but uh i said i was only gonna do one more i might have to do one more well the seagulls didn't lie bud might have to hang out here for a second just made one little toss on the sandbar break and thought little white bass electrocharged football right there he crunched it and that was sweet okay bye well i just got the trip logged on my good old google sheet form i thought about auctioning that that off but uh i don't know if i can put a price on that how much do you think my fishing log's worth if i move from iowa i might auction it off and then like dead like donate the money to some kid's fishing foundation thingy or maybe i'll start one with the money i from auctioning it off that'd be kind of cool anyway this is the last spot then i gotta paddle it in and i'm really hungry and i'm probably gonna go uh demolish two
