all right guys it's been 12 000 miles and I was planning on doing this video a lot earlier maybe like at 5 000 miles or 10 000 miles things just gotten away uh but here we are at 12 000 miles and in this video I just want to talk to you guys about some of my favorite things about the Tesla Model y some things that I've encountered and also at the end some things that I just kind of bugged me a little bit or things I would like to have them change or update in some future models now of course there's gonna be a lot of other things that I like about the car that I'm not going to talk about in this video because I have talked about them in previous videos so if you guys want to see some of those other videos make sure you check the links above as well as Down Below in the video description now to start the first thing I want to do is talk about maintenance and I think that's the biggest thing that a lot of people are wondering about how much maintenance am I going to need on one of these cars and just give you guys an update everyone's different everyone has other issues with their own cars uh lucky enough I haven't really had much of an issue with mine the only meanings I've had to do on 12 000 miles is refill the wiper fluid and if you guys do want to know how to refill it I should just debate a video on that make sure you check out one of my previous videos another common maintenance thing that a lot of people do with the Teslas is they change out tires now I hear stories all the time of people changing out their tires within the first 10 000 miles within some people have ride their tires up to 40 to 50 000 miles actually my tires are still pretty good I think I probably have about a good you know 60 percent on there and it's really just based on your driving the one thing I do see people a lot of people changing their tires out is because they are just mashing it all the time which means of course you're gonna be burning out your tires a lot quicker the way these things take off off the line it's very quick if you do accelerate so of course you're going to burn out your tires a little bit more and that's one of the most common maintenance things I keep hearing about Tesla's the other one biggest benefit of owning Nev is charging and I think this varies for everybody because of the fact that if you have a garage and you're able to charge your home this is the biggest benefit of it for those that have that live in an apartment or a complex or a place that you don't have the ability to have a home charger this is where it really does change because is now you're of course dependent on trying to find a Tesla Supercharger near you or just another charging solution in general for me with my experience because I have a home charger it's pretty much just like charging your phone every day I come home I plug it in and when I leave in the morning I have a full charger if you have gas car you have a full tank of gas basically and I think that's where it really changes as far as your experience with and EV goes the biggest difference here with a Tesla is that you do have the entire supercharging network which of course is normally about a 99 Uptown 98.99 uptime versus a lot of the other third-party companies that are coming out here with their EVS they make you go to things like at chargepoint or an evgo or Electrify America and if you've ever gone to one of those stations you might see two or three of those plug-in stations available and a lot of times those plugin stations are out of order so if you're looking at reliability of supercharging there's nothing right now that competes with the Tesla and the Tesla supercharging Network as far as being comfortable while you're on the road not having that range anxiety especially here I'm in California there's no range anxiety at all because I could pretty much just open up the app and I'll see a supercharging network or supercharging station near me within the next 10 15 20 miles now the next thing that Tesla is really known for is their software updated over-the-air software updates now a lot of other companies will claim that they do have it and some do but Tesla really implements it really puts it to work and they update their software on their cars pretty much almost every month especially when it comes around to some major releases around FSD or full self-driving I don't have FSD on here but when it comes to just changing things updating it changing out fixing bugs updating the UI Tesla is always on top of it and majority of stuff that you're seeing online as far as these recalls that a lot of people are or a lot of media will put out there a lot of it is just an over-the-air software update but they'll call it a recall just because that's what they had to have labeled in their system but really A lot of it can be done over over the air where some of the other companies when it is a recall it is a major recall you have to bring the car back you have to have something fixed battery issues and things like that so as far as the reliability of the software I think that's where Tesla really excels all right my next favorite thing about the car is the regenerative braking and pretty much known as one foot driving so when you let go of the accelerator the car the motors will automatically start slowing the car down now you can adjust how much it slows down all that through the software through the screen of how you want the car to break now what does that mean it basically means is that when you let go of the accelerator in a normal car it'll just continue to drift by momentum but here you're actually going to be using those Motors to slow the car down so as you can see here I'm coming up on a light if I let go of the accelerator the car is actually going to come to a complete stop now I did that a little bit early so once I press it all the way up here Let It Go the car will actually come to a complete stop without me having to press the brakes the next thing I really like is I think it's just you kind of take it for granted because once you get into the car and you start getting used to the controls start getting used to how everything works it you take it for granted because you don't realize it until you jump into another car that you're doing so many other things what I mean by that is that when you have the app hooked up to your car and you have the Bluetooth hooked up when you walk up to your car the doors will automatically unlock all you just open the car and then once you want to get going because you already hooked up via your mobile phone you don't have to scan the card or anything like that you just basically put the car into reverse or drive and you go it just takes away some complexity of things that you're so used to doing already with a regular car with a key and all that stuff it just makes things very very simple you take it for granted really quick once you jump into another car and you realize how simple it is to actually get up and going with your Tesla the next thing I really like about the Tesla and I think it's just not talked about enough is that the audio system in this car is really really good good I mean you have full control over all of your music but the great thing about this is that it does connect to all of your systems so if you want the radio you want Apple music you want you have karaoke I normally just do the streaming of your top favorite hits all the way back to like the 90s r b hip-hop and things like that but I will normally have all that going through streaming but I think just the audio system in here in general it sounds really really good and I think it's just one of those things that just isn't talked about enough of how good it is and also makes it a lot better because of the fact that there's just no noise in the car foreign [Music] foreign [Music] so on my model y I actually do have the performance model and the one thing that people talk about is how quick this this car is and if you've driven a regular long-range model y that's already extremely fast performance takes it up to another level and I've talked to a bunch of plaid people and they're like performance is nothing wait till you drive a plaid but but that's one thing that you are not going to uh you know have in some of your regular ice cars that instant torque that acceleration that comes from the motors on something like a model y performance or a performance model in general is something that you really have to experience to see and feel it's just a completely different type of acceleration and that that like I said that torque that you feel right off the line all right so when it comes to things I don't really like about it the one thing I actually don't like about it is the door handle now this is very subjective some people might like it some people might hate it I personally don't like it because of the fact that the way you're supposed to open the door is you're supposed to put your thumb here on this thicker part of the door handle and then you press it and then you grab it with your other hand and you open it just like that now of course ideally that works the best if you are approaching your car this way for you to do that but there's a lot of times when you're coming in to your car this way and you have to come around or you're going in this way or you're opening up the back door for your kids it just doesn't feel natural to always have to turn your body and press it in this way I end up sometimes just like using my finger to pull and just different ways like that where if it was just a standard door that would come out or pop out next we'll talk about is the lack of a power frunk now when they first released the model 3 the trunk actually wasn't even powered so that was one thing that they had to update was making the trunk powered first of all but I feel like at that point you might as well have just made the front powered as well because of the fact that when you close use open and close the front it is a little bit more delicate than you're used to with an ice vehicle where you have normally a heavy the Hood because of the fact that you're trying to enclose your engine so the hood is extremely heavy on the ice Vehicles we're here it's really light and I've heard about people with their stories as far as closing their hood and pressing down on the logo which you're not supposed to and then all of a sudden there's a small little Dent right here in the middle area with the model y you're supposed to put your hands on the side of the logos and firmly press down but I like I said a lot of people don't know that unless you really read the manual but I really wish the frunk was powered just like the trunk I would probably use it a lot more to be honest there are a lot of times where I'm like I just don't want to use it I don't want to have or have the possibility of damaging it so there are some companies out there that I know do power frunks I'm really debating on doing that or adding it on here but I do know that they have to tap into your computer I don't know if that does anything to avoid warranty and things like that so it's kind of a touchy thing but I'd really enjoy it if they would just have added a power frunk all right having three kids the one thing I don't like about the Tesla is that we don't have any rear climate controls now I don't understand why we can't have that in the system why we can't have that in the UI up front just the ability to do what we could do in the front turn up the fan in the rear adjust the fan speed why can't we do that here on the rear ones like we can do on the front it does seem like it should be a software update if possible I know that there's also some third-party screens or TVs that go here that tap into the climate control and you're able to do some climate control changes there so that might be an option but I feel like with me just sometimes the kids are a lot hotter than I am up front I want to crank this thing up I'm going to keep mine pretty low or or change the temperature in the back it just seems like it's a pretty standard thing to do most regular ice cars can do that I just don't know why we don't have that ability here on the screen for the Tesla all right there it is just a few things that I really love about the car and honestly as far as the bad stuff there's really not much bad stuff I absolutely love how it's driving I love the no sound I love the audio the regen braking like I talked about and there's a ton of other things I really like about this car if you like I said if you guys will see those other videos make sure you guys check the links Down Below in the video description as far as some of the things I dislike I think I have talked about it you know some of the stains I got in my white seats if you guys haven't seen that one I talked about a little bit about that one as well and one of the things I did talk about earlier is it's the charging I think so many people worry about charging but honestly it's just like plugging in your phone at night if you have that ability to do it at your house like I said if you have to go to a super charging station just map it out beforehand before you do anything but I've only taken about two road trips with this thing as far as having to go to supercharging stations about 98 of the time I'm at home so I don't even deal with super charging stations and that's what seemed like most people are so worried about they're worried about how do I charge how to charge if you're able to charge at home I mean you just don't even worry about it unless you are traveling 200 miles a day then of course you just map out your charging stations like I said I'm in California it makes it super simple before you guys jump into the EV space just do some of that research where am I going to charge if you're looking at getting a non-tesla you got to realize that you're jumping into a third-party Network now to charge your your car and that is what Tesla has solved they have that infrastructure to make traveling really really simple and not have to worry about range anxiety as always if you guys got value in this one the big like me much appreciate it I'll see you guys in the next one take care
