When you enter the Cinecom studio you come into the entrance room. We never really did something with it and that's a pity because I think it looks nice and we have a wall print with Youtube comments from you guys. Now occasionally some of us actually go and sit here to work. It's sometimes good to be alone without distraction or whenever I have a video call. Also sometimes when clients come to the studio I use the entrance room to sit with them. So when LG sent us their brand new UltraFine Ergo I thought: "Let's use that monitor here and make a small office that anyone can use." And what makes this monitor stand out is its ergonomic arm that comes with it. You can bring it into any position you like and it has one of the most intuitive cable management systems I've ever seen in a monitor. And it's actually quite nice here now. So big thanks to LG for sponsoring this episode. I'm going to talk a little bit more about this monitor in a moment. But first let's have a look at how we can edit faster and more efficient in Premiere Pro. The first tip that I have for you are workspaces. We all know that we can change the layout of the different panels in Premiere. In the office all work on two monitors and we're able to have a lot more panels open at the same time but when i'm working on a laptop or using a single monitor I'd like to create multiple workspaces for different tasks. So that I can keep each workspace minimalistic. So when i'm editing, I have my source monitor and effects controls right here the program monitor in the right corner on the bottom left the project panel and the effects library and media browser and on the bottom right here the timeline. And as you can see, there's no toolbar as I trained myself to remember all the short keys. So that saves me some space. Now from the menu window workspaces you can save this workspace so that you can always swap back to it. So then I have a second workspace for color correction. Now my project panel is smaller as I make more room for the timeline and the Lumetri panel on the right. Also my scopes go on the bottom of the lumetri panel. I find it important that I always see my scopes also when I'm animating in the effects controls and that's the reason why I have it there in the bottom corner. And then I have a third one called animation. Most of my panels stay the same now only the Lumegri is swapped with the essential graphics and of course the scopes are gone. And finally I have one last workspace called audio. Now the panel on the right is now the essential sounds and on top I've made the panel smaller so that I have more room for my timeline. Like the program monitor is not so important now anymore. I wanna have a big timeline for all the audio tracks that I'm gonna use. Now there on top we have the source monitor and the effects controls next to that the audio track mixer and next to that the program monitor. Now if you go back to the window menu and choose workspaces you can choose edit workspaces on the bottom. From this dialog box you can choose which workspaces have to be in your workspace bar. So either delete or drag the ones that you don't use to the overflow menu. And the ones that are important you keep in the bar. And this allows you to quickly jump between the different workspaces saving you a lot of time as you don't need to fumble around with the different panels. All right, that was the longest tip. The next ones are going to be shorter. Now since with the recent updates you're now able to set a short key for keyframe temporal interpolation ease out and ease in. And this allows you to ease your animation keyframes with a press of a button instead of going into the menu each time. This is a big time saver and something that I always hoped for that premiere would bring to the program and they did. Tip number three: When animating a clip hold down your ctrl key to create keyframes. This goes much faster than taking out the pen tool first. This also works with time remapping. Now when your project becomes slow and your files are a mess go to the menu - edit - and choose delete unused. It's going to remove all of the clips in your project that you haven't used in your edits. You know, the more footage that you have in your project the slower and the more unstable Premiere becomes so keep it clean guys. Tip number five: There's a little button in your project panel called freeform view. Double-click on the project panel to maximize it. You're now able to drag your clips around, bring them together in groups, or do some sort of a post storyboarding. When you have a lot of media this tool actually really helps to speed up the editing by being able to organize upfront. Now I saved the best tips for last but first, let's check out that pretty awesome LG monitor downstairs. So this right here guys is the brand new LG UltraFine Ergo. Now this thing right here is actually pretty good for creative tasks such as video editing and color correction because we're looking at a beautiful 4k IPS display covering 95% of the DCI-P3 color profile. But what makes this monitor really stand out can actually be found on the back. So this arm right here comes together with the monitor and it defines the word ergo which stands for ergonomics. Basically you get this 360 degree of swivel which is great because after I've done my edit I can just go sit here on my couch Look at my edit - pretty cool edit by the way- and whenever my girlfriend for example asks to work another brochure which I sometimes have to do for her. No worries, I can just kind of tilt it over like that So now I can work in vertical mode. So I can actually basically turn this monitor the way that I want. Everything is possible and that is because you can position the monitor perfectly at the height of your face So that you won't get any neck complaints which is super important if you're spending the entire day behind your computer. And if you're like one of those fancy people who have that desk, which you can turn into a standing desk Well, no worries. You can also Like, reposition your monitor to be in line with your standing position and you won't have any body complaints like neck, back, or whatever. So this is definitely a worthy monitor to check out, you can click the first link in description down below definitely if you like to have that monitor which can be set at any position that you like. How beautiful is that? All right, let's go back upstairs. All right guys tip number six, it's so stupid but oh so useful. From the shortcuts we can set a key for the decrease and increase clip volume. And this allows me to change the volume of a clip by one decibel or if I hold down shift by five decibels. And this is much more efficient than dragging the volume line down and trying to find the right value. Tip number seven: Dummy presets, and this one is gold. What I'm going to do is apply the transform effect to a clip and I'm going to create a keyframe for the position and the scale. Next I'm going to ease these keyframes and temporarily create a new keyframe so that I can even adjust the animation curve. When done I delete back the first keyframes. Finally, I will also uncheck to use composition shutter angle and set a custom 180 degree. When done with that I'm going to save this as a preset. Now whenever I apply this preset to a clip I only need to change the position in the beginning and that's it. All of the rest has already been prepared for me. Even the smooth animation curves. And this is just like one example, If you're using some kind of an effect quite often, you can also prepare that in advance and make a dummy preset. This one is a huge time saver. You know, it's like the ergo monitor. If your legs start to hurt just stand up and adjust the monitor so you can keep on working without taking breaks. Or when you have to eat for example, because there is no stand on your desk anymore you got plenty of room for food. So again, you can keep on working. Huge time saving there. On to tip number seven or eight. I lost count, doesn't matter ... It goes a little bit in line with the dummy presets but now for projects. What I do is create a project where I import a bunch of media assets that often come back in edits that I make. These are a set of sound effects intros and outro clips, etc I also create an adjustment layer so that it's already present and ready to use in my project. Next I create a sequence and start renaming some of the video and audio tracks. Then from the audio track mixer i'm going to apply some compressions and equalizers to the voice audio track. Even in the timeline I already placed some of the media clips in there. Like an intro video together with the music that I mix and a few sound effects. I prepared this project the best way that I can and then I save that into a folder. And whenever I need to start on a new video project I simply copy and paste that template project, rename it and when I open that my basis is already there and I can now go ahead and import my media files and start editing right away. This again is a huge time saver. And of course you can go ahead and create multiple of these template projects. For instance one for corporate videos, one for commercials, for wedding videos, or whatever. Tip number two: That can't be right, I've completely lost count. Anyways, this one is pretty obvious but I bet that almost none of you have actually done it. Take a look at your program monitors button layout. Which of these buttons do you actually use? Right, not many. So open up the button editor and drag out anything that you don't use. There are many short keys that we already use, like the in and out points, playing back the timeline, etc. Remove all of these buttons and only add some of the essentials in your layout. To me those essentials are the global effects mute button, title save margin, rulers, guides, export frame, comparison view, and loop playback. Now keeping this area clean is more efficient and will help you edit faster in the long run. It's kind of the same as with the workspaces. You want to keep it all clean. Tip number ... Next one: From the Lumetri panel we can choose browse under the LUT option to select a custom LUT. But doing that action every time is gonna cost you a lot of time. So what you want to do is browse through your program files/ adobe/adobe premiere pro/lumetri/luts and place your luts inside either of the creative folder which is the look selection from the creative tab or place them in the technical folder, which is the input lut selection under the basic correction. Then restart premiere pro and you'll now find your LUTS back in here at all times. No need to import them in here again. And this brings us to the last one, which is probably 11 so we are back at counting, which are dummy graphic presets. So this is also an idea like the dummy presets and the project templates that we created before. Now this time we're going to use the graphic essentials to import a file. And this could either be an image or a video. And this means that we can use this media file now inside the graphics layer and actually create a nice design with animations around it. When done with that right click on the graphics layer and choose to export it as a motion graphics template. Then choose local templates folder as a destination and hit OK. In the browse tab of the essential graphics you'll always be able to find that template back. And when you import it into a new project you'll find a folder called motion graphics templates in your project window in which you can find the media files back. Then right click on it and choose replace footage. Select a new sortand bada bim buda boom Your cool graphic animation now has a new media file inside. Again, a super big time saver for graphic animations that you use more often in your projects. And with this last step we've come to the end of the video. I want to thank you a lot for watching. A big thanks to LG and their beautiful UltraFine Ergo monitor. I'm, really happy with how the entrance room looks now and as always Stay creative!
