today we're at four-piston racing and we're going to show you what goes into building a thousand horsepower Street Honda k24 engine so at four-piston racing we've been building these k24 engines for over a decade and you know we really got into naturally aspirated power but most of our customer base is really into turbocharged horsepower so we have to put a lot of engine development thought process into how to make that power so that people can go racing and people can drive around and enjoy what they want to do on the street this engine starts with a k24 block from an acura tsx we put ductile iron sleeves in it it's a rainy built sleeve we have an o-ring a cop eroding to help seal this thing up in the bottom we've got a big heavy-duty boost line rod it's a steel rod that we can use on the street daily use you go fire it up you know it's not like an aluminum setup you can you go fire this thing up cold start it go drive it around but this thing can take the big boost and then it's connected to a Weiss Co heavy-duty piston so this piston is specially designed for this engine it has a thick skirt it's got a big ring pack in it make sure we can run long load times with this thing at big boost levels it's got a thick top big tool steel wrist pin and it's really thick in a pin boss area on top of this block is a four piston Pro TSX CNC cylinder head it's not a big giant drag race port this is a port size specifically for these several engines so that they're responsive so that when you're on gear changes they come back in to boost real fast you know it's able to stay in the efficiency range of this turbo also has Freya valve springs titanium retainers faria super alloy high temp valves to be able to handle the extreme exhaust temperatures that come with these big turbocharged engines with big boost on top of that is our four piston billet turbo three lobe camshafts so this this engine has VTEC capability so that it idles and Maeve's like stock on the street and then it also has variable intake cam controls so the weekend we can control the centerline's from 132 degrees centerline all the way down into 104 degrees centerline just by moving camp electronically we're doing that with a motek ECU and and pushing the boost through this thing it's going through a speed factory turbo manifold into a precision 70 to 85 it's a big turbo but this engine is a big displacement engine it can push this thing so once it goes through there it's going through a speed factory intercooler and over into a skunk to five and a half litre plenum intake manifold all of this stuff produces huge horsepower at low boost even on the wastegate spring well over 700 horsepower and then you can start turning it up 33 pounds of boost right at about thousand horsepower and obviously this turbo can make 55 to 60 pounds of boost on this setup [Music] the idea is you can turn it down for a variety of uses you want to go to the track and turn it up and make some power just hit a couple keys turn the button whatever you need to do turn it up and make some big power
