[Music] submission was big so much happen not on YouTube channel and it's now time to revisit some of the best moments of what was out fest every year of fishing yeah with a quick lure fishing session for pipe this huge 20 pound plus fish took my look at my feet didn't expect to get on this big the size of this creatures head I had a few nice rats that month too which is surprising considering we normally catch that species in the warmer months Alex then traveled out to Holland to fish with some new friends of his his target we're gonna be perched and big ones if I don't get you look like this blue bees he landed fish over five pounds and witnessed a seven pounder in the flesh for a pipe whilst Alex was in Holland I began sorting out my health I've been quite unwell over the winter and early spring but slowly but surely of sorting things out I went to see a doctor and started getting better an absolute monster around this time most of our fishing was for pike although on the warmer days the water began to warm up we started catching some carp - alongside my parent's partner and brother my good buddy Ryan was also a huge help life starts getting better I fish with my friend Ryan who and see just hear quite a bit this year more so than any year before we showed the good things can come our bad times in April Alex and I had a long chat we had a good discussion about what we wanted to do with this YouTube channel and with our futures we eventually decided that we were going to quit our jobs and try and make this YouTube channel a full-time project leaving that jobs was an emotional time but we remained friends with the people that we used to work with and ever since then we've been out to make more videos and enjoy so much more freedom and success than ever before so it was definitely worth the risk soon after leaving our jobs we reached the milestone that is a hundred thousand subscribers on this YouTube channel [Music] now that might not seem a lot compared to some other YouTube creators but for us it was a huge moment and proof that finally after 10 years were more of hard graft efforts were starting to really pay off X then jetted off to the United States and alongside some of his friends fished in Tennessee at Dale Hollow reservoir now this lake has huge potential with big car and Alex and his friends certainly experienced some incredible fishing day [Music] Alex landed a fish of over 40 pounds oh my god and his friends caught those too what an incredible trip it felt like no time at all before Alex and I were driving around North America and Canada on a very ambitious road trip we drove thousands of miles over a three-week long adventure targeting largemouth bass smallmouth bass carp grass carp walleye and even the enormous muskie the capture of that muskie was just immense it was a seriously memorable equally memorable was the moment I nearly lost a 30 pound plus car when my Metz map we got it my goodness look at that back home in England we tried to catch fishes blindfolded which was absolutely an area in the vein but it also had a serious aspect and we tried to raise some awareness for a guide dog to charity acts then went to Scotland on an adventure with his friends we did quite a lot of sea fishing and then we've got stuck into some carp fishing local river a little later on in the river season I fished the barbel with AMI and I was glad to help her catch at first never one [Music] late summer was pretty hectic with lots of short sessions here there and everywhere but in the background we were working on building and creating a brand new YouTube channel we built a studio set up a huge fish tank and began producing instructional content for our new channel called fishing tomorrow in late summer Alex fish with his friend in the scene had a lovely chill time they called mackerel and bass and cooked them up on the beach [Music] the bus that he caught were kind of small though and he set himself a challenge to try and catch a much much bigger one along with my successful campaign targeting barbell and exporter got lucky eventually landing three huge bass in one session he says it wasn't luck I think it was we had two autumnal competition sessions on very contrasting waters one a deep quarry where Alex went diving to spot the cart and the other a newly-opened dated a fishery heading into winter again we fish for pike but also enjoyed some great action on some small streams catching a multitude of different species so that brings us up to now and all that's left to say is make sure that you subscribe to our channel but this year is going to be even better we've got so many trips planned so much exciting fishing to share with you we cannot wait if you've followed our adventures all through this year and thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the support and if you haven't watched us before go click Subscribe then put your feet up sit back and enjoy some of our best videos from this year starting without America and Canada multi-species road trip we hope you enjoy it is so exciting when you see them launch outdoors for the lerz oh just like that just like that you just arrived in the state that Chicago Airport guy keys for the hire car or hire truck should I say the journey begins here that would never leave me that moment will never leave me our road trip started on the west coast of Lake Michigan in the city of Chicago over the next couple of weeks we would be traveling north through the USA and into Canada fishing for loads of different species including the elusive muskie after arriving the first thing we did was visit a number of stores to pick up all the necessary kit for the trip ahead of us that's the one I don't even know what we're looking for now we need to camping stuff we won't have a hotel every night I'm so tired frozen sleeping bag without cows don't think it the definition yeah now do there we go oh just harrowing ourselves ready for three weeks on the road it's gotta be done properly some things you just need conclusion of day one we arrived in the States we bought the stuff we require for our camping and fishing but for the first night we need some good sleep so we've booked up a hotel hotel is three hours away in the direction of where we're gonna be fishing tomorrow so it's time to get on the road and try not to crash this enormous track which I'm driving but we're ready to go let's get to our hotel and get a good night's sleep [Music] [Music] just exited the hotel first night got a decent sleep and we are ready to get on with the adventure yeah we looked on maps before we came out and we just look for any water about we're right near the Wisconsin River and I typed that in on Google and there was a video of some carp on the surface laughing around so I just thought well gotta go there and wait so that's the first stop let's check it out wow this place is mad after making up some ground bait mix to wrap around the leads we both cast out our rods into a large slack where we hope the car would be sitting it didn't take long before we started getting perhaps on the road tips and soon followed by our first bite [Music] it fell not [Music] we soon realized how snaggy this water was and realized we would have to pull them a lot harder if we wanted to stand a chance of landing one [Music] [Music] these fish as Carl and it's swimming so fast birthday in America we found a massive where fall I had a bath and I've had a car corruptor good start a long lean powerful we're from common and my first bike from the United States on this particular road trip which is going to see us fishing under lots of different places for home loaded ethnic species [Music] now you go try and get the carpet yeah man we had a pretty good start to the trip with some car and a bass fur on it lost a couple of fish and that really really beat fast-flowing snaggy wall so it was a bit of a shame but kind of a never been evitable really given how hard we had to play the fish to try and keep them out of the snags well we're back on the road and we're driving to a food store because we actually want to pick up some food that we can prepare on the bank because we're gonna be camping tonight on the banks of Lake Michigan somewhere which we have visited before but that doesn't really say much because Lake Michigan is the size of England since I saying we visited England before the last time you were on the east coast off the lake now we're gonna be on the western coast try and find some card [Music] this is that help we picked up from Walmart the other day we're going to be camping tonight now we're going to be fishing with someone tomorrow just down the road here which is why we decided to pitch up here tent is set up and ready to go before the rain is going to come later and we thought we'd just pop over to a pond we saw on the way in I look pretty weedy look pretty bassy [Music] give it a click guys shall we oh my goodness made large now largemouth odd oh no way man did you see that man soon how'd it really fast and look big nice nice one well I wasn't feeling too confident but a minute to catch one oh yeah same size on the wacky rig sank oh wow nice job Carl lost that's gone on a frog I caught one on a worm pretty cold no I say not a bad way to end the day let's go campaign we'll catch you guys in the morning we're gonna be targeting carp again so I'm excited [Music] [Applause] [Music] we woke to a beautiful sunrise then headed down the road to a harbor we met up with Justin and a few of his fishing buddies they had kindly invited us to fish some of their local fishing spots for the day you guys just holler than those who hunt anyway video I'm Kristen we've been watching the water for the last half an hour and we've been seeing quite deep fish at first we thought there was some big car we came from watching them and out they got closer we were like they're actually giant salmon or trout but we have also seen a couple of Commons trips really potent downloading the wishes giving us confidence that they're often here so we're gonna get some runs out and give me a go [Applause] we're seeing a few bible was out there very close to my rod very very close I can see the bubbles coming out about there my rig is literally there [Music] [Applause] [Music] my nightly we were kicked off with a spot where we actually saw the car earlier whose obviously frustrating because we knew there was some car from the area but yeah apparently you won't that fish there would come over here this is actually a channel straight off the main lake a little bit like where we fish with Brendon and oxen and Brian where you've got just a massive channel leading to a harbour the one who's obviously shallower in the harbour and the carp are probably going to be wanting to move that shallow water and this is a good part in place for them so we're gonna drop a couple of others here I'm not feeling that confident just because well when you look out and you see that massive expanse of water you never really do but I'm gonna wrap up another ball of packed babe onto the method feeder and give it a go just pour etre did they really sell me a whole bucketful of water get a bit of corn out there they get ten in the world [Music] of course Alex is hooked on Lake Michigan car is getting stupid now just get off he's got wet fur hey look [ __ ] I have not seen a run like that in my life oh well we didn't have any luck in the harbor over there but we moved into this channel dropped a few rods out only like a broad length out the method feeder zone within about an hour at this one touching around 30 I reckon this is an absolute peace and the fight was just unbelievable you're probably stripped like a hundred hundred fifty yards of line right down the margin right every must get in there and thanks to these boys for taking us there and showing us the spot water car Lake Michigan well back down you're fishing the 13 million acre lake in the first place they run away then they yeah nice fish right there probably run 12 pounds beautiful [Music] this spot was really dried up now there was two bikes earlier and nothing since and it's been a good couple of hours about anything so a friend Justin has suggested that we try a different species still carp but this time there's a grass carp he knows of a lake not too far away where there are some grass carp however whether or not we catch one don't really know they have been known to take bread off the surface so that might give us a chance to do some stalking but we'll go over there and find out [Music] on arrival at the new Lake Carl and the boys headed straight out in the boat searching for a big grass carp in the meantime I grabbed my lure rod from the car I had a look for some bass Oh yep oh man it was insane insane dude oh there's nothing better than catching your bass on the Frog oh yes that was just so cool it's so sweet they exploded on it like nothing else whilst I was catching a few bass Carl was hooked into something a lot bigger oh my goodness oh I've caught the most beautiful carp in the world take it ashore that is terrifying how big is it looks like 40 pounds yeah oh my god what just happened oh this is the biggest draw scarf I know I ever catch and it's the weirdest creature I've ever seen it's all right go look at the rest of its tail whoa giant mutant grass sharp like bread let's preserve after the hectic grass carp action the boys grabbed us some much-needed food and drinks and for the rest of the afternoon we sat back relax and even made a few more comments before the day was up hey massive fin Arakanese male it was a great way to end the day and soon we were back on the road heading north further into Wisconsin we stopped at the hotel to grab some rest before another day on the water targeting a few more new species good how about you yeah good to meet you man Tanner I'm Alex nice to meet you hos over there don't get in subcompact what's the plan and we just bring our stuff down here and load the bar nice boat it was just a ride that's boat launch and today we're gonna be fishing with a guy called Tanner he lives around here and he fishes this Lake and a few other lakes in this area he said to take us out and fish some back [Music] I've never caught oh yeah yeah yeah my first fish of the day nice smallmouth I love their eyes yeah her her so cool the fishing out in the main lake slowed up so Tanner drove us into the river that enters the lake in hope to find a few more fish oh that was an amazing bite flick the worm in the gap in the weeds and I just saw it swipe it out of nowhere I just can't I go ahead [Music] [Music] yep like that Oh Donna Oh [Music] what was my throat fast yeah yeah cool looking fish Sheepshead are taken and led route today all that slimy they are like bream that's a good smell well oh that's a nice one that's one we're looking for finally guys that was a nice bath and it's a small mouth as well that means we've had like four different species today Oh big fish just fired it up oh yeah yeah yeah these were I are pretty similar to the zone that we have back in Europe but I took the Ned rig it's dependent proper multi-species dated a rock bass pike largemouth smallmouth and now a walleye nice that dogs had loads of fish home do it the other time I drilled in Oh double smallmouth double oh wow to ground [Music] anyways that is my first ever walleye [Music] not to be confused with Wally is a Pixar character look at that it's been really interesting today because we fished five or six different sports which didn't actually do very many bites then we moved to this particular area and actually it's done more fish than any of the other spots added together yep always another nice little hook oh he's flying yeah they are such such awesome fish to catch we fished the same spot until the bite is dried up then headed to an extremely weedy area of the river in hope to end the day fishing for bass on top water frogs yep oh no oh so it didn't feel it going in oh my you are killing it I'm jealous right now I'm gonna catch a frog oh oh I was reading it he was just there but I was reading it all really fast up to the surface oh yes anyway the end day that's pretty much the perfect way to end off what has been a proper multi-species day with Tana we've had loads of different species with fish loads of different bits of water and we've caught some very nice fish and to end it on this fish which smashed into a frog couldn't get any better thanks Tana for taking us out it's been a good day with a very good day although the water seemed pretty calm where we were fishing out on the main Lake it was like the ocean and getting back to the boat launch was a little bit of a struggle [Music] take two let's try not to lose any more hahaha I didn't even dream but we both got that silly these six we're a pretty good day with Tanner today taking off a whole load of different species but now Alex's plan for the trip includes 10 hours worth of driving up into Canada the place we're aiming for is called Honora and there's a couple of very large waters that we intend to fish when we get there we've got a couple of days so we're gonna spread the driving out between those days and having a little explore on our way up but yeah the destination now is Canada this trip wasn't all about catching fish over the next few days we camped out at some beautiful places and drove through loads of stunning scenery [Music] oh yeah yep enjoying a bit of large mal factions evening on the NED rig how we decided to pick up the tab for the night [Music] as a quick demonstration of how fast the weather changes here I started talking and it wasn't raining and now it's absolutely hammering down [Music] three days later and we were finally crossing the Canadian border the next stop was Lake of the Woods [Music] this huge water covering nearly 2,000 square miles is home to the mighty muskie the fish which we had traveled all the way to Canada to try and catch this was by far going to be the hardest challenge yet [Music] but before we share a muskie story here is how the rest of us Day in Canada panned out [Music] so today we're fishing a Cohen and Landon and yeah they're gonna be taking us fishing around the Thunder Bay area which is the next stop of our roadtrip they're going over so Smalley's we're gonna go not far from from town here probable 15-minute drive and shouldn't be long and we'll start laying into some today we have the pleasure of being invited out onto Cohen and Landon's favorites smallmouth bass fishery just drop the boat in and uh yeah let's go after that was my first ever cast into the lake oh wow they dumped I was ridiculously quick that's my first smallmouth from this leg of the journey look at that beautiful colors on these ones isn't there other nice [Music] there we go whoa he flew Wow there we go it's about 10 minutes in then picking a few up this is one of the nicer ones so far it should be one of many just gonna keep working the shoreline and see what happens bottom baits like Ned rigs and tube jig stuff that'll get down and look like a crayfish and the rocks kind of deal but um later in this evening when it's a bit lower light I guess some will get a good top water bait hopefully this is crazy action we go one up here [Music] this is literally the best smallmouth fishing we've ever experienced [Music] couple of look at that that is a quality smallmouth we're getting loads of it like this so much fun [Music] like just starting to save and we're trying to see them rising the surface and we're giving some top water to go is so exciting we see them launch out the waters oh just like that just like that love a nice small e on a top water definitely the most exciting way to catch them [Music] my first-ever bus on a copper now that is a lot of funny [Music] got to bow son went off water to beauty Smalley's on one top water how often does that happen [Music] yeah the tired of flying Oreos get these great values chocolate and vanilla cream cream choco VIN it I wish to know that's that's the French version isn't it sorry you liked the most amount of fish we've ever caught it there I think that's the result of few hours incredible smallmouth fishing thanks to these guys putting us on the spot but it's been like wanna chuck has been crazy [Music] after the most incredible day fishing for smallmouth bass we return to our hotel very tired as you can probably tell does it but after a good night's sleep we were ready to tackle another day on the water this time we were after two new species of trout that we had never caught before [Music] we're gonna start with brook trout so we're just gonna be pitching towards the shorelines close to the rocks see if we get any follow-ups I don't think I've ever fished for brook trout before successfully or not I've never even tried but we couldn't be fishing for them in a more beautiful surrounding this places perfect oh yeah just randomly fan casting offshore it's probably a lake trout just because there's those the deep so that's one of the trover after this one's a lake trout there's lake trout and brook trout the brook trout are real pretty but these Lakers have gorgeous little spots on them like this wait oh yes [Music] first lake trout ever oh yeah we go on oh my god it is my first brook trout we've ticked off both species of my first ever brook trout picked up two new species today I'll had a Laker I said it broke nice [Music] oh yeah [Music] a beautiful brook trout the markings that are just so incredible what are you guys looking for they drop offs and change changes in the depth and also structure around those areas apparently that's where they live and then present this little minnow soft plastic to them on a beautiful glittery jig head lower upstream the Nipigon system hopefully gonna find somewhere up trow the waters faster up here than in the lake there's more current should be good hey we got another one [Music] nice big red truck yeah [Music] you're free to go that's a leak or in the current that's wild it's pretty well instant we had a couple hits and oh it came off no way no all watch a good sign anyway up top to a lake trout oh that's a chunk of a late row [Music] there is a beautiful lake trout just below this damn the area that we're fishing today just looks incredible and the fish that can credibly say lake trout the great fish to eat and greet the catch as well so we're doing it all today lake trout they live in the most incredible locations they fight hard they're not too hard to catch and they taste amazing what more can you want cheers for the last couple of days guys no worries it was great having you guys just come back any time I'm sure the fish will still be here come back catch some pike ice fishing bourbon is bourbon ice fishing yeah nighttime bourbon nighttime burbot this winter [Music] nice one guys thanks so much at this point in the road trip there was time to start heading back down south but let's rewind a few days to the fishing we experienced on Lake of the Woods as this was truly something special [Music] I'm chillin in this amazing cabin next to Lake of the Woods I'm actually having a bit of downtime whilst axe is gonna head down to the lake and do some kayaking and do some editing and make some plans for our next video I'm gonna jump on the clip grab some rods try and catch some fish yep fish on fish on fish on fish on what is it gonna be oh is it why it's a walleye walleye yes we have got a walleye in the boat from Lake of the Woods oh yeah all right see a little guy areas a fish on I didn't even realize it oh my god it's a punch it's a punch new species ticked off as well this is a yellow perch a little different from the ones we have in Europe oh my god there's a beaver he's a beaver something looks like a beaver oh no sir I don't know oh my god is just freaked out I think I just saw me yep I took on the job or what is this there's a little bit different was he good maybe was he gonna be always pulling me love me oh it's a little pike it's a little Pike and he's going crazy it's an oven I caught one walleye I was like if I catch another one I'll bring that back didn't catch another one oh did you yeah rained house fun huh what is it that [ __ ] mom think so just leaving the place that we stayed last night definitely the most amazing place to stay that so far it's beautiful this place is so nice Alex caught some fish off the class I despite a chipmunk and got some editing done and had a good night's sleep so that means I'm full of energy ready for today's musky mission musky the fish of 10,000 casts attempting to catch one was the main reason we had traveled into Canada and seeing as this was going to be a big challenge we were grateful for a helping hand from Jay Siemens an experienced angler from this area shipping said poppy we're gonna be catching monsters dick we've got big expectations now are we fishing for sharks or freshwater fish here that's ridiculous today is an exciting day because we're fishing for muskie species that I have actually wanted to catch for a long long time and never really had the opportunity but today is our chance just gotta hope that we can make the most of it [Music] forty minutes of fire out driving getting crushed by waves and we are now arrived at the first location which is pretty much in the middle of nowhere musky guys are nuts about sharp hooks because you might get one chance I keep the drag pretty much cranked as tight as I can this is 80 or hundred pound braid yeah I'm gonna snap it the worst thing that would happen would be like something fails over there but like that's why you fish with such heavy gear every cast I'm gonna reel it all the way to the leader and then I'm just gonna do a thing I do a big circle big wide corners like with a big 50 inch 55 inch fish you want it to be able to turn I go bust I don't know I've not had butterflies about fishing for a long time but the the thought of a giant predator hitting your lure at the boat and looking down it as it you know hunts that's terrifying [Music] we have made doubt not quite ten thousand costs but again there and no sign of a muskie yet wait right what if you cut the wrong water I'm sure I heard someone catching a muskie from Lake of the Woods maybe matter there might be one in here his name is Fred oh no muskies nothing's seen nothing hooked but that's muskie fishing we're fishing for one bite [Music] holy just huge oh my god is looking he's looking he's looking at looking at looking at looking always looking it's gone I think it's gone I think it went that was a muskie I'm pretty sure and I'm just putting Milo around in circles now just because I can't think about anything else oh boy that looked all the way over there you're the third beat to that area and he followed you up oh my get a good look at him that's a big fish just snaked around yeah but it didn't eat it oh I'm shaking my arms are gonna live me that was absolutely terrifying no we're halfway through right ish ish it's been hard had a couple of sightings of fish and one verified muscle yeah what the one that followed me in was definitely a muskie it was it was a good fish big yeah snack time this is an average day you expect to catch none and if you're lucky you catch one or two it's kind of like carp fishing but worse [Music] well I talked to my guy buddy Darcy Cox from tank industries before we hit the water today and he said fish the rocks outside of spawning Bay's at the winds hitting so yeah there's a big spawning area behind us it's all 5 10 feet of water where they were all spawning probably just a week or three ago and now we're fishing these islands these little reef structures outside winds blowing out with like sixty nine degree water so it's where the fish are starting to set up for the head to the the main bigger part of the lake and once you've kind of narrowed it down now we're going to pick it apart he's so low it was again I was like a forty five incher yeah I see him huh yeah hey Carl can you take that off I saw the shape of it down there but oh yeah I saw point when I let the tube sink yeah listen I decide the tale and I solemnly [Music] yeah it is I think no wait yes it's a muskie yep oh my god go see a muskie on the bike that is a baby must drove down a couple feet and we got us our first muskie we had seen five and finally this guy child to crank not big but not is a Lake of the Woods muskie right there I would say probably 31 32 inches awesome get her back well they do get bigger guys it is a baby that is the reason Wow this is charged up we saw a muskie I think every oh now we're gonna catch a giant one welcome back to Alex and Carl angling we broke the muskie curse we got a small one in the bag but the boys aren't happy just a matter time Suns getting low something we call prime time here I am so glad at least just to have had a follow off of one of these big muskie because if I hadn't have seen that I would have just thought we were fishing for the impossible you know that I just fishing for something that didn't exist we always knew that muskie were going to be the hardest species of this challenge and today prove that we sadly didn't manage to catch one but Jay did pull out the bag and managed to show us what a muskie at least looks like it wasn't one of the huge ones like the ones that followed out us but it was a muskie so we did get to see one at least we're gonna sleep for an hour and a half and we're gonna go out again muskie fishing day two is gonna be a grind but you have to keep trying you cannot give up [Music] there's one nice one a salut thing this one's coming look at this guys this one's turnt up you still there oh look at it [Music] oh my chance [Music] first spot we've tried today and Jay had it followed for me big it must it nip the tail of the bait didn't her cart but shows they're in a good mood today so we're gonna try another spot where we saw fish yesterday and target that [Music] oh yeah that's a bummer [Music] [Music] no I'm seen this is ridiculous we're on him they were moving that fish was the most aggressive musket we've seen yet [Music] that was devastated it yeah that was huge as well muskie fishing is hard it's soul destroying [Music] [Music] this is where my heart was broken before and I don't want my heart broken again so I'm not even casting here Brillon the boys make it happen I give Alex my crank Karl's using a jerk base and we saw too much to do before and one tried to eat my bait braces this is the spot there's a hungry muskie here see that rock spines sticking out he was just on this side of it [Music] any caste [Music] which is what I like and we just call him Karl made happen we're gonna throw it on the bump board and then we will cool I'm shaking and then we'll put it back in the net that is a 46-inch muskie right there 446 Oh we'd like two hours left for these guys have to leave that is a 46-inch lake in the woods messy Karl you're shaking in the piggery that does not get any better does it look big I'm speech the notes this is why we came out here this is was gonna be the hardest species to take off of our list and thanks to Jay we've got it oh man [Music] you go mate yes that would never leave me that moment will never leave me well we got a video I was so I was so soon it wasn't gonna happen you know just that moment where you go never never gonna happen and then it's following it's following on by that is why your cast and Katherine cares for that small moment now here's the full session when I caught that really big Pike in crystal clear water we're about to go pike fishing at the lake we haven't been to for approximately one year then why we haven't been there it's quite good normally we go back today [Music] oh yeah yep oh is the decent one these are one first car oh I'm not kidding look at this world oh look oh he's not massive but he's nice always took around the edge first car the first cars are done with allure for about a week or two and this one's on the end it's probably about 10 pounds which is bigger than most by the no is so close to the surface whoa are we going crazy [Music] main pipe [Music] Oh Mike that was massive that was massive it come right in and looked straight out here and turn at the last second as I moved it too quickly and I think it saw me I always cost like downwards and then think I hope there's no car fighting this down there it's too I'm too deep diving oh my god that is a big pipe oh my goodness oh my goodness this is the biggest pipe I've ever caught in this leg that's it to tyke yes seeing a pike Hitler right in front of you like that I'm just setting the hook into it making sure you've got it what can beat that and when it's when it's a pike of that sort of size that really gets the heart going here we go motto that is massive an absolute crocodile 20 just over 2021 there's your biggest pike since it's my first 20 yeah didn't expect to get one this big that is pretty impressive this one was just over 20 pounds just just 21 or something and the size of this creatures head that's like the size of the thirty pound of that I caught it's just not as fat got it on a lure which makes it even more exciting oh what a day what a day [Music] Wow now here is Alex's epic perch fishing trip to Holland where he got to see a seven pound plus perch on the boat and catch a number of fives himself check it out casting lures has to be one of my favorite types of fishing so when the opportunity arose to head out to Holland in search of monster perch I just had to make it happen [Music] [Applause] I've had a long-standing personal best part move around the three-pound 1.4 kilo mark and this was my chance to beat it so on the 15th of March I drove into Europe on a quest for giant perch one hour 28 minutes to get to Oakland which is where I'm gonna catch crossing into France let's go just a ride at the Eurotunnel which is gonna take me over to France in about an hour and then I've got I think three or four hours driving awesome in France through Belgium and into the Netherlands which is one for the sandwiches during a train so that is a journey ahead of us once we get into France three and a half to four hours from Calais to I'm high for your safety and comfort we recommend that you stay with your vehicle thank you for your attention we just crossed the Belgium border two hours and eight minutes left I've been to the Netherlands and now on small words so we're getting closer 15 minutes to go [Music] that was one of the smoothest journeys I've ever had no traffic no problems just straight hair and probably about five six hours total so that's pretty good oh you man hello just met Jeron it's got a pretty nice boat way bigger than I thought it was but that is what we're gonna be fishing out of for the next few days it's just my name is Arun Isis a fishing guide in Holland and I fish mainly for in summertime I fish for sea bass and in wintertime I fish for perch sand or pike I really get a good feeling when someone gets us a big perch in my boat that's why I do it boat is in storage for the night just in time because the rain coming down now just diamond yeah just in time I think see you tomorrow we just went to the hotel I'm currently getting some camera kit ready sharona's got all the fish and get ready the boat is away ready for tomorrow morning I think we're gonna skip breakfast more we're gonna wake up super early and get out on the water [Music] the whole is pretty unique because you can get birch over 700 pounds and I believe there are birds above $8 I don't think there's a place in Europe you can catch birds like that it can be really tough to perch fishing you can cost all day and don't have a bike but just one perch can make your whole day or your whole year and that was the exact reason I'd come out to Holland the alarm went off early the next morning but getting out of there was no problem as your own and I were both so excited to get on the water nice weather [Music] well the first day we were fishing a big river like it's a very big lake with super clear water last time I went there with Luke and the end of the day we caught six big birds one of it wonderful perch the biggest perch was just over five pounds [Music] on that River Lake it's very good to fish with a Carolina rig you can catch it on with Jake heads but Carolina rig is the best technique to catch them yes we have got to the water the first lake that I'm going to be fishing here in the Netherlands it's a place where jiron has been before I think once and cause a very big fish that doesn't mean we're gonna catch some big fish today but we can try our best that's exactly what we're gonna do try and catch the monster perch I am so right for this incredibly high [Music] [Music] my pipeline Oh official Oh what is it [Music] the bike was exactly like a perch so we thought I thought it was some big birds but it's a nice bike oh we let him go Heidi's a bike right bye nice oh boy we have been searching hard for the last few hours and we haven't seen a single baitfish show up on the sounder but just coming into another Bay gonna look there as well I guess that's all we can do find some bait fish and then fish over it but yeah it's been tricky very tricky today but we are after just one massive fish the next six hours of fishing was extremely slow and although Girone did her couple and a couple of smaller fish the big perch managed to avoid up first but first Birds man I tried to find him but because the water was too I did the birds were spreading out or I don't know where they were before - we caught a pike so we've got a few face but the circumstances were so hard that's it folks day one it was tricky very tricky during said it was very different circumstance when he came here in January the water is a lot higher and although we did find a couple of perch it wasn't on fire but we've still got tomorrow I still want some oysters [ __ ] oh well I see it tomorrow guys hopefully with a slightly better days fishing we have two days left so on to the next one and try to catch the really big one and they too were gonna fish with Luke opens Luke became a really good friend of mine for the last year and we're gonna fish at the Hannah clip hopefully this big river system with the the the biggest perch in in Holland hi Alex today we are in Holland on a big lake and today we are going to try to get to personal best perch for you as we drove out the harbour we were greeted with incredible views survives on the boat were positive and we had the whole day ahead of us searching the huge perch [Music] sweet right first spot firsts [Music] [Music] there's definitely more structure around her I'm feeling it on that oh it's a pike it's a pike no the heart was racing yeah first fish from the Netherlands I thought it was and wants to perch when I hooked into it but popped up and it was a little pike oh well it is my first fish from a new country that I've never fished before nice no is a Bigfoot hey super super Luke I was afraid to say it first because the chocolate that I can already say the biggest part I've ever seen in my life oh my goodness it's a giant this is giant oh my god that's a job do you like it yes how much would you say that way is a little bit more than 2 kilo but we can read it if you want yeah just put it first I know guys it's not sexy but we normally don't wait just under five pounds yeah yes I'm not gonna stop casting and so in flycatcher oh my for an English guy that is a monster I'll be on the front cover of every newspaper in England Wow nice one Luke let's keep casting [Music] we have what are you getting those afraid it was a super what's a good bite oh yeah yeah goodbye you like bite yeah right hmm there's a boom go fish on this topic this is a birthstone we have a very big one I'm just blown away again oh dear what have you got there like I have a month of hurts and I didn't expect one like this today but this one is 51 centimeter and believe me this is a if I have to estimate two point seven two point eight kiddo we will put it in a way back but it's very nice fish did you see how strong it was it's like it's like a car they fight so hard that the bite was so hot you cannot believe it and I'm still excited because this is for me also big fish like this you only catch a few in a year 51 super nice fish very very happy with it it's my biggest 700 how many pounds seven pounds seven pounds it is a seven [Laughter] heaviest first ever together with you guys very very nice moment super you want you don't catch a lot like this believe me but you can come close it let it go we let it go three point two kilo swims away thank you after Luke's massive purge the bytes load and the following four hours were spent searching and hoping for another chance if you want catch a big fortune into dream fish you just have to know it isn't easy and you really have to work for it but it's really worth the effort because when you get that bite at the hours of guarding it's just such a rewarding feeling [Music] yep yep we go this is why I came to the Netherlands for perch of monstrous sizes eight four pounder and caught on alert the most exciting way of fishing [Music] thank you you're welcome and that's why I've invited you to Holland to get your dream perch and you would really work for it so you're welcome and look of course you've worked hard you must focused all the time so you deserve it so that's why it will happen again I didn't pay these guys to say that I was just lucky I just made a car somewhere over there and it just first hit my way [Music] well today we were fishing with Jacobs so it's really important to use a jig head that fits the depth because when the jig is swimming down you can get the strike so it's important to face the jig that swims as long as possible to the bottom because then you got a strike so we just have to fish so as realistic as possible to trick the perch and there we go that's the low did the trick what is this code shed tears nine centimetres long on a seven and a half gram jighead cheers thank you these things are the one the best in the world yeah there's a lot of structure here and these spots I have find when the water was very clear in the close season they liked to be here now in this time of year but I still think there are a few more we this pot we gift about 30 minutes rest and now I think we can catch again one of two [Music] oh yeah yeah bye-bye another personal best we just--we then it was a little under five pounds [Music] what else is there more to say what a day oh and another bite again well it is my birthday and I wanted to Alex to catch a big perch and he called a few and at the end of the day this is my birthday perch it's just under six pounds and 49 centimeters I'm very happy with it this day just keeps on getting better and better now I made it like we've been catching some pretty big perch today but what you might not see is just the amount of cast that we've been doing to get those perch we've had many hours of not catching anything but every now and then we find the spot where there's a group of perch and we get into some and when you do catch one here although it's not often they just seem to be monsters can't quite believe it but this is the best purchase you know I've ever experienced thanks to these two your own and Luke you're welcome my guides just here in the Netherlands yes Wow and we go again can this day get any better it's just gone oh yeah yeah yeah I just ruin em I didn't realize I'm going on when I thought the day just couldn't get any better I had another bite and it's this which is definitely another personal best these parts are just ridiculously big I will never forget this day's fishing Wow never forget it I think it's over five so it's just on five a tiny bit over maybe yeah yeah 5 pound 4 ounces or say 5 ounce for ounce no a few ounces over 5 pounds 5 pounds what yeah what which is guys and that as the end of possibly one of my best days pushing I've ever had time to get some rest because we've still got one more day with these guys officiate what a day what a day well I must say this is one also one of my my best days ever perch fishing we caught like 10 in life and put a few fish about 5 pounds a 6 pounder 7 pounder you caught your personal bests and or so the perfect day see you later guys I'm gonna sleep over tonight I'm naked I had one more day fishing with girona Luke but after such an incredible session I found it hard to believe that fishing could get any better [Music] all right it's very it's quite far out three and is still happening there we go look at that day three we're about an hour and maybe not even that we've got our first part of the day oh it's a pike [Music] oh right by nice high five but les cartes action today and quite a few small pike I just had this absolute beauty oh wow great good job man that was a nice yes and a really big one that's a nice one very nice fish [Music] it was nearing the end of the day but Luke had one more spot in mind to take us to [Music] [Music] oh very good [Music] laughs for the day we're gonna give it a new cast and I've got one last putt to finish an incredible three days different why the fish water this is your biggest one a pond I'm pretty sure that's my biggest but it is 47 centimeters [Music] see ya have a safe drive what an amazing three day that was I still can't believe I'm still left speechless by the size of someone face perjury court we caught a nice perch we caught a nice pipe with court knives and I couldn't ask for any more but I really got to thank Luke and Jerome for their help I honestly could not have done it without them Sharona she has his own guiding service over here so if you're interested in coming over to do some fishing or leave the links to that in the description but they were both great guides and they guided me to my personal best part which is why I came here in the first place anyway thanks so much for watching the video I really hope you've enjoyed I'm actually going to be in the Netherlands for the next four days so who knows what could happen but yeah I'm gonna wrap this video up here thanks for watching we'll see you in the next one coming soon and now for our big challenge trying to catch the giant miracle in our local River [Music] because we now have a small glimpse of what's in here and there's some very nice fish to target [Music] always the pagan it's the biggest fish I've seen in the whole strip oh my god my life recently has consisted of a lot of editing of out videos which is basically just sitting in my office looking at my computer screen clicking buttons and obviously I need some time away from that so in the evenings or on my lunch break I choose to go for a walk over on my bike down the river [Music] [Music] I first discovered the fishing that was available in this river late on last summer I went for a walk with a friend on a really hot day and we stumbled across some carp and at that moment I decided I needed to give it a go [Applause] off the bed of pre-baiting and a few nights down here I managed to get into some really nice fish [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] I did some more fishing throughout the autumn in winter but from the cart front it was completely unsuccessful I did try for pike and had some nice ones and lures but yeah the carp you seem to switch off and I just combined them [Applause] a river like this during the winter is pretty hectic every other week is bursting its banks and most of the time it's completely unfeasible it was one February day I was pretty feeling pretty airless indoors and I thought I need to get out the house and go for a walk came down the river as usual and somehow stumbled across some feeding fish it was on another arm of this river and with it being tidal the tide was right at the top I lowered a rig in between where the fish were feeding and somehow five minutes later I was hooked into an incredible River cart [Music] not bad for a boy in February I chose to fish two different sections of River last year a stretch which was tidal and it stretches from non-tidal I caught good fish from both but I definitely saw some bigger ones living in the tidal stretch and that's why I wanted to head next Cole didn't actually get a membership for the river last year he just came along on the sessions to do some filming and take some photos but after seeing what I managed to catch he was desperate to get himself a ticket and join me after deciding that we both wanted to try and catch him carp from the river in the close season it was late May Carl and I decided to go for a walk and try and find some spots to start pre-baiting this morning we've been walking the river trying to locate areas to pre bait ready for our session on June 16th I've been using a 2 ounce lead and some braid to try and locate these deeper areas just casting it in counting how long it takes to hit the bottom and also dragging it back across the blossom trying to locate any hidden snags that we wouldn't otherwise notice this tidal area is absolutely Savage there's so many snags so much weed lilypads overhanging branches and also branched beneath the surface that it's key before we start baiting we actually locate what's going on beneath the surface on that particular day it was quite warm the water was reasonably clear and we managed to spot some car most efficient we saw that day was just above and below a small where there's also a bridge which goes over the river which means you can get a really good bird's-eye view most of the fish we saw that they were commons between five and ten pounds there were a few a little bit bigger but after a couple of hours of staring deep into that water we spotted something a lot bigger than the rest a really nice mirror I was a pretty exciting first look at the river this season we even spot as a couple of carp we found some very nice spots that we're going to bait up and we've got two weeks until June the 16th and we're going to be baiting up every single day and yeah like I said I've seen those fish got a super excited because we now have a small glimpse of what's in here and there's some very nice fish to target River carp move around the Lots this particular stretch is miles and miles long and that's why pre-baiting was gonna be essential we needed to get them on one specific area so that we knew would have a good chance on the opening day of the season about a week ago Carl and I came down to the river with just a letting rod and locators a few areas that look likely a few ends that we wanted to target and in particular we found three different spots and that's because there's gonna be three of us fishing me Carl and a friend Ryan all going to be down here doing a sixteen but this is our first time bathing up I'm gonna do this one and then the two spots upstream and then head I've got the paint in the Roxette and give these fish some munch we decided we wanted to get down every single day to pre bait there are a couple days we were busy with our stuff and didn't manage to get down but we felt like it was important that there was always some bait there for the fish to feed on we had decided to get that friend Ryan involved with the campaign him and Kyle headed down to free bait together on a few occasions Thank You Ryan and this one hates like sore sore official one we had last time but we saw the biggest fish down by the bridge we've been banking up the river pretty much for the last week now every single day we've been topping up the spots and the way we've been doing it cost-effectively has been with particle we went online to a bulk supplier bought a ton of dry particle and we're boiling a half hour so you get so much bait for your money I'm just getting another lot sorted now I'm putting the heads into the bucket I've soaked it overnight covered in water and then tomorrow I'll boil it for about an hour but it has left out and the range was dead because this river is tidal twice a day the river turns back on itself and flows pretty fast it brings a lot of weed and other debris along with it because of that we decided we wanted to bait up spots very close into our near margin we didn't want to be fishing to the far bank with lines stretching across because that would mean getting tangled and wiped out by weed in the middle of the night so we baited three spots right in the edge where we could lower them in and be sure that we wouldn't get wiped out by weed at all on the lead up to June the 16th the weather was really hot we were really hoping that fish would get spawning out of the way and all done before we actually fished on the opening day and yeah we were pretty lucky with that about a week before they spawned we saw plenty of fish spawning it in and abouts of weeds [Applause] [Music] watching the water carefully we hoped the spot the big mirror we'd seen previously then all of a sudden not far from our chosen area there it was oh my god is an amazing car big gay legs you see the one who must have played its catalytic site yeah there's one with like with boosted confidence that spawning was going to be out the way and the big mirror being in the vicinity we continued with our baiting a couple of days before our session we had a load of rain the rivers were right at the top almost bursting their banks and we were getting a little bit worried that it may be under fishable we kind of wanted to try and bait up as quietly as we could would often come early in the morning or late on in the evening and we were always we're trying to knock flatten the grass around the patches where we were baiting just to try and make sure no one knew where we were putting in the bay we're about to drive down the river and find out that there's someone else in our spot that would be a little bit annoying but where there are plenty of time and I'm so excited see you down there we're taking both vehicles Alexes got a head off and a couple of times maybe to go for meetings and stuff and I'm taking the van cause it's got all the fishing stuff in it this van I actually borrowed from a friend of mine because we left their jobs and no longer had an income so I needed to borrow a vehicle and someone helped out immensely and by lending me a van our little car which is decent actually it's working quite well anyway oh yeah I've got the door just don't unlock okay we're good got some bait puts the mixes in case the Sun comes out too highly doubt it and Matt's going in all sorted now and we're pretty much ready to get down the river Thanks he's gone ahead of me really starting to get nervous I'm just typing the only ones in the car as we drove down to the river on June the 15th we were surprised to see no other cars in the car park we let out a sigh of relief and we quickly rushed to the spot a no-go I guarantee swim and yet more rain this ranges doesn't stop hearing me the changeable weather continued a kid getting drenched before beginning to dry out again a few hours later thankfully we've managed to get the spots that we've been baiting for the last two weeks we were pretty nervous device that would come down there'd be someone else already here but we've got the spots and now we just gotta wait Ryan's gonna be down in a bit and I'm just gonna catch up on some editing to try and pass the time I know it's gonna feel like a long long way until midnight the river was looking pretty much perfect it had been really high a few days before but it already started falling and there was still quite a bit of color in the water but it was on its way down and looking absolutely perfect we haven't been able to fish for a month we've been doing everything we can to stack the odds in our favor and right now we're just cutting the grasses back preparing swim so we can land fish safely and yeah getting ready and what's getting kind of getting butterflies actually I don't know about you I it's but like we've seen bubbles coming up haven't seen in the actual car but I'm pretty certain they'll be some in the area it was a really chilled out day parents came along we had a nice picnic wait and then in the evening Brian joined us had a lovely barbecue and we had plenty of time to get out rigs ready propeller tackle so everything was perfect ready to drop the rigs in at midnight hi Ryan good how about you enjoyed your video thank you thanks Ryan Ryan still what is our videos when they launch at times we're talking yes travel clocks have to be there that's what Yule a support some of our videos doing doing some paperwork nice you're excited I'm buzzing almost a day out there the rude word again [Music] [Music] get the food ready my maple barbecue from Harrods meadow contested I've been watching Bob always come up on the pre rated spots constantly ever since we got her and they're definitely on the pre bet on that particle we've been putting in over the last two weeks however tonight because there are so many bream in here I decided to go with big hook baits quite a large hook because I really hope I don't want to get woken up by a bream and that to ruin my chances for when the carp come along I've got a 20-mile bottom bait with a 50 mil pop up a size 6 wide gape hook and I'm just hoping that deters the bream up until the last couple of days we have been just putting out the pass school it's really cheap and you can afford to put lots of out and clear the spots off but over the last couple of days we have been adding some boilie to the mix and just because that's what we're gonna be using as actual hook bait we obviously want the carp forget used to picking up those boilies off the bottom because if I used a bit of corn no doubt I'd just be growing up with bream off the bream anyway they're bubbling right now whether it's car for bream I'm not too sure most likely breathe but hoping at at some point tonight they can't move in [Music] mm very good by the way chef Ryan has done a good job with my main key Fork the Sun is setting on the 15th of June 2019 and I'm pretty high no that was a car become Riley the way yeah I heard it I reckon I might get one first actually to John three jumps in the last like 20 minutes over my spots and that was a cop I heard it would did it a douche like it was Spanish like it what I didn't have massive but it jumped yeah but it jumped right out I mean are we happy with any River cart how long to go Alex five minute this plate has been long I just as Satta listening out and every now and then you have over a broom or a car of jumping I've already Thea he thinks I've got some green already yes June 16th it's been in for 30 seconds and I'm being green bites not exactly ideal but it means this fish in this room and hopefully we only get absolutely rip-roaring by [Music] and then uh v6 rods in hundred yards river that we've been pre-baiting for well since the 28th of 20th of May what gene so we're very very hopeful we've always said this is where the anticlimax starts not one of these by alarmed Beach wants until next week we'll see fingers crossed all the rods are in and I really take the way that I'm gonna be able to get any states right firstly because we're gonna probably get lots of minors from brain secondly because I'm just so excited only 15 minutes into the new season I heard an alarm down the bank and it was Ryan it was into one straightaway yeah [Music] well I didn't think it happened that quick after the excitement of Ryan's carp we all headed back to bed the atmospheric nights soon making way for Dawn [Music] I'm not sure exactly what time it was but early morning we were awoken to another bite this time it was cold rod these fish they're wild and they're constantly swimming against the flow so they're powerful oh so glad to get that one in the net every single fish on here just fights like absolute crazy every time you hook into one of these river cart you do think that they're gonna be a lot bigger than they are they pull so so hard and this one even with its withered away melted little fins up an incredible scrap and had me convinced it was a lot bigger than actually is but still an absolute cracker to catch in the new season slow glad mouth and we've had a couple of bites and made all of that pre rating worthwhile [Music] the fish which column Ryan had seemed to be what I had in mind to be the average for the river most of the fish we'd seen had been sort of 1012 pound Commons so we weren't too surprised that as what we caught [Applause] after cause early morning bites a fission slowed up a lot there was very little to be seen not really any signs a cop anywhere and we were sort of thinking it might be worth staying another night if we were going to want to have another chance of catching something oh this is nice rains just set in and yeah I don't really know where the rain came from just a 15 20 minutes ago this guy was pretty clear now it's really gone moody and cloudy and the rain is absolutely hammering down but I'm just been the shelter under my umbrella wait for this rain to pass and just hope Oh cross my fingers that one of these rods gets picked up by a car for some point today I'm a pretty impatient person so after seeing Carl and Ryan both catch while I was sat there blanking I was starting to lose my patience a little but as any carp angler knows sometimes you have to just sit there and wait it out [Music] after the tide had been in and back out again I decided that probably a good idea to bring the rods in clear all the weeds off the lines and also have a rebate I think when the tide is rushing in it can wash all the bait that is there off the spot and also it can move the rig a little so rebate of the rig's rebate the spots [Music] it was mid-afternoon at a time where I was probably least confident of a bite when my rod just went into meltdown [Music] [Applause] this district alone [Applause] he's taking this loan where you've got boy oh it's gone again that's a big fish [Music] yeah the fire from that cart was immense soon after hooking it pulled a load of line upstream got stuck in all the weed but I kept steady pressure the line was actually going from the rod tip straight down into the weeds and then along the bottom to where the fish was some 30 yards upstream and Carl was poking the net pole in and about that trying to lift up the wheeze so I could get in direct contact with the fish again it was all a bit messy but finally Kole managed to get it unpinned and I was in straight contact with the fish again we've untangled ourselves from some weed that you unsoldered that's fine that won't that won't bother you know [Music] is knotted up oh it's a pagan if the biggest fish I've seen in the whole strip the big one that we saw I was shaking it was a fish that we'd seen and it was a fish that we were pretty sure with the biggest in there that's the biggest fish for Zoe Quinn the whole way up there oh my oh stress when it got caught on the list bit of way yeah oh good well this season's opening session on the river went to plan check out that I really couldn't have asked for a better fish to catch and with it being the one that we actually saw off the bridge in the close season I couldn't have asked for any more it's amazing oh my god beautiful I couldn't quite believe I've managed to catch the big mirror after seeing it in the closest and that became a target fish and somehow on the first day of the season I managed to catch it but are plenty more stretches of the river to target and also some big Pike to catch so I'm definitely gonna be back down here soon [Music] in this video Alex goes diving gets into spearfishing catches and cooks a load of really tasty fish I've been really getting into my sea fishing lately so in this video I want to share all my latest saltwater fishing adventures with you there's everything from boat fishing for big bass to spearfishing mullet in super clear water so stay tuned for the action to kick things off his an afternoon boat trip we did with our friend Steve Callum and of course our boat captain Robin [Music] we are about try and catch some bass it's as simple as that the roads were rigged up and Robin drove us to an area which had been producing plenty of bass we dropped the lures down into 30 foot of water and the bites came pretty much instantly I'll just check the measurement 45 perfect topper soon after Robin was hooked up this time and monster batters on the end what oh wow water fair love unit I was too busy watching your fish and then my rod started walking around my first bass of this evening session and it's quite a nice and I say this pretty my biggest bass another cool actually let's drop it down again hello you there [Music] this feels like a good fish that's the one perfect size for the table yeah sort it good dynamics too so if you've never watched Collin Alex fishing before it's a program on YouTube where by two brothers go fishing and one of them catches fish in the other one films I'll let you guess who's the cameraman and who's the angler nice t is the excuse of our senses yeah well good yes that was a good fish oh yeah no no when you G for these baths is big lid hummed at the top let it all straight and go back down just letting the lure take you down Kim with your finger on the Lloyd yeah and just ready to react to any to Tory I should be giving him yep who's the man Ernie oh it's pheromones pheromones maybes a little bit feminine yes oh well Alex was making me look bad finally I've got myself a bass the day started off with a couple of bites costing and retrieving we found there's a few down near the bottom so actually vertical jigging at the moment giving it a fast pop up pop up off the bottom sorry and then letting it sink slowly back down just as Robin has advised trying to stay in contact with the law at all times keep the line quite fight and feel the bites alex has been hauling I'm hoping that I start catching a few soon Oh doubled up Co make it triples [Music] whoa that's another noise fish is on your rod is good [Music] oh yeah this [ __ ] what's so hard how do we think it was so much bigger well yeah they're hitting the loose today and it's just so exciting that's a 22 gram jighead and stuff plastic [Music] we were getting plenty of bites but right at the end Steve hooked into something a lot bigger a bass of nearly ten pounds [Music] Wow Tessa Munster that's the end of a incredible afternoon bashing is definitely the best best fishing we've ever experienced we saw a fish around eight pound and Steve a launch was nine pound I did not think I was gonna see a fish that big today yeah we caught quite a few and we've even got some for dinner as well a couple of weeks later and it was time for another adventure but this time it was gonna be something completely different five hours and 40 minutes driving pretty much the width of England down to Cornwall where I'm going to do some fishing diving and maybe even some spearfishing so I am super hyped for this adventure let's get on the road [Music] four and a half hours until I get down there I'm gonna be meeting up with my uncle as he is a spear fisherman and he's the one who's gonna be kind of teaching me how to dive in Spearfish we have arrived in Cornwall when I grab the fish and chips in town and just going on a walk down to the sea to find the Knights Rock to sit on to eat my dinner late that night I met up with my uncle Pole and his spear fishing buddy mail we found a quiet spot to park the motors and catch some rest before a day of diving and fishing [Music] we got into the water the next morning and spend a good few hours searching the shoreline rocks and Carol putting dinner Mallett being the target species I [Music] didn't manage to catch anything myself but Paul managed the number of perfect shots on some tasty-looking mullet Paul actually had a camera attached to his spear gun so it was pretty cool to see exactly how he went about shooting the mullet in this clip you can see him using the large kelp beds as cover as he waits for the fish to get within shooting distance this fish got stuck in the cow so Paul needed to do a second dive to retrieve it and here's a couple of his other shops [Music] had a really fun but incredibly exhausting climb earlier and the C snorkeling didn't do much filming of that just cuz I was trying to just concentrate on actually getting a hang of the actual snorkeling I'm pretty new to it so I decided I just put all that into that but yeah it was really good saw some really big rats saw a bat as well and my uncle shot five mullet so that's gonna be a dinner tonight I'm just walking down to the beach now where we're gonna have a barbecue also got my rod my lure rod and a bit and yeah we're gonna go down do some cast off the rocks maybe catch a fish or two and also tuck into a nice barbecue [Music] for the Bears it popped the most incredible fire and it took the learn literally right underneath the rod tip [Music] are we eating today cool I couldn't get a bass or a bullet it looks pretty good well this is my first time here to mullet I'm interested to know what it tastes like here we go the mighty mullet that pull caught this fish is four hours old it's quite tough isn't it hmm yeah that's good I like all that lemon just makes it so good cheers Paul that was a well caught by you well if it wasn't for you we'd be eating I don't know pastor or the Chinese takeaway or something mmm not bad at all although I didn't manage to shoot any fish watching Paul catch the mullet really inspired me to do more spearfishing in the future I've actually started a free diving course to complete over this winter we should mean I'm ready and prepared for next spring anyway on to the final part of the video and definitely the most enjoyable a group of us decided to get together this weekend and head down to a friend of Mines he actually lived really near the sea I really wanted to take them fishing so I think we're gonna try and do a bit of a catch and Kirk I think there's still quite a lot of mackerel around so that would be good but there's also some bass as well I said we catch one which is big enough to take we might try that as well anyway let's go [Music] so I've arrived and the Sun has come out it's a beautiful day with amazing views down there to the sea apparent it's like 50 minute walk and we're gonna have to bring a couple of what a canoe and a kayak now with us I don't ously all the gear to go camping I've got a bag full of all the cooking equipment I've got a few rods we've got camping stuff we're nearly ready to head down to the beach and get after it try and catch ourselves some dinner we've got a boat then we've got a boat still trying to fix the hose and you're just viewing out let's how you this keeps us afloat today I feel pretty sketched out with these guys mending it oh I hope this is coming up so don't get knocked off that thing it started for the long hike down to the sea we'll see you down there it looks a little bit crazy who are about to do here having two boats down to the sea which is all the way down there but hopefully we'll make it [Music] go make the most of our food when we can because there won't be any fish [Music] sure this is the right way I think these guys leaving me do something scary or what the view that's useful okay okay okay this is what we're dealing with today perfect blue skies and an incredibly flat sea this is just amazing love it apart from trying to get down this cliff which isn't so fun right let's get down this cliff [Music] and we have made it we loaded up the boat and ferry we're gear a few hundred meters along the shore to the spot we wanted a camper but due to the rocky shoreline it was a little tricky to unload all our kids [Music] [Music] yeah well I'm a bit wet a little bit so the target species are going to be live a mackerel there's definitely a few bass around at the moment so we could catch a bass and there's also some other species like gurnard which apparently immense tastes really good I've got a selection of lures I've got some bachelors I've got some feathers from that girl they're pretty good yeah exactly we went out in the boat and very quickly stumbled across some huge shows of mackerel oh my god you're a legend I wish I wish I could record this properly you guys find the fish we have got oh it's you up front doing a sterling job paddling us to the mackerel at the back good Jim also paddling I feel really lazy right now I'm really just doing nothing oh geez this is a big n o js3 whoa Jonny and no currently having a disaster they've capitalized and they're now just having a swimming session they can't sighs and that they had a rod which doesn't float so I guess it's down there so oh oh it's a micro I think it's a Big Mac with a we are boys are you serious there's a nice macro we're gonna get some proper Philips of that oh wow I'll and the little guys Joe see ya well we've been fishing for about an hour and a half we've run into some pretty big issues Johnny and know who are on the kayak fishing on a survey capsized they ended up both swimming and one of the rods came off their kayak and sank to the bottom so alright see that rod but we are still going strong we've got seven mackerel in the bag oh she's hard at work just says Jim and I am as usual there nothing oh yeah yep oh there he is that's a nice one this might be something big you've got a bath oh yes I think there's a bus okay you can stop it oh it's advise me you've got oh I can't believe you might catch a bat that's so cool so I see smooth to eat so I got the pin back see how hard they've cold we call bass right hey yeah [Music] when we came to this spot in the boat for the first time we were unloading the boat of all of our kit I left the box of beer the highly frigid box of beer down by the rocks and I basically forgot about it the tide has come in and now all the boys are searching for all the Coronas sorry guys I apologize big mistake I've owned up to my we lost the rod and we lost some beer at least we're eating tonight that's the main thing we've got food to cook on the fire ah they look so cool caught behind the in there go ahead and cut behind the thin here and then you can snap it back and then just pull everything out and everything comes out Thursday along that bird geez this one's got tons of me that's yours now so what we're doing here is we've got some lemon juice we've got garlic salt and pepper mixed all together and now we're gonna soak the Phillips in there for like half an hour to an hour so when we cook them they will be really lemony and agent Doggett isn't that right Jim delicious hi Alec just talked us through the setup your me so what we're doing is we're rigging up the roads I'm gonna try and catch the bastard see his art is obsessed with fishing now what did you use to be passionate about nothing least he's found fishing this is gonna save it it's gonna lead him on to a very basic no it's I don't like whatever I don't like that but if I'm more into tech no no no mine that one else yep yep yep this is it joldosh he catches a batter over 42 said feeds now yeah from here at it yeah am i doing it right No oh my god fyz a huge fish that is a big outfit that's just its head this is bigger you know days pretty crazy [Music] [Music] oh she's cool it's not like what is it Archie just pulled out there's brutally nice back sons just going down fires I'm about to pick the macro yes Artie I'm James and over here listen so kicking up this could be thick you know it's just snow hold it just hold the rod without really it's just that oh yeah but we thought I was a fish but it's no it's just a rock or something so I got very excited about that we've time to cook up some food this is looking good no way no way that's the knob bad whatever oh are you serious [Music] seven mate 7 yeah boy how many you got [Music] this is heaven cooking up fresh fish and incredible speech as the Sun setting what a day [Music] part she says he's just had a great idea I don't think it's a great idea arch is going to attempt to kayak into the sea free do what Oh No [Applause] that was incredible hey hey okay it's good no way you made it we woke the next morning to a big change of weather but notice the family of Sierra's had decided to sleep right next to where we were camping babies he'll fix it [Music] before leaving the beach I gave it one last try at catching some more baths we hooked up laughter Luis working this is like a 15 gram weight jig head and then a soft plastic ler [Music] oh my goodness word [Music] it had been such an enjoyable time spent with good friends in the great outdoors but it was now time to make the long tiring hike back up the cliffs next up Alex and I pluck up the courage to get out there and try and break some personal bests are you serious this is a beast a monster this is a frickin monster just got back home after a session of a lifetime we were only out there for about four hours but what happened was just in sane I definitely wouldn't describe myself as a specimen angler I would normally prefer to catch more small fish than target one big one the reason for this is because I'm impatient I've always got HTP I want to keep moving sports trying for different species and I just find it generally quite hard to sit still and persevere with one type of fishing for a long time because we're making videos all the time we want to get out get bites catch fish and have fun catching big fish requires determination it requires time it requires not getting bored as quickly as we do and that's I think why we tend to fish fish for bites get fish on the bank to catch him and not care too much for their size however the times were advised to get lucky and pull out something bigger than average a specimen size fish there's a buzz that you get which is like nothing else you'll notice in the footage from our channel when that big fish hits the net we tend to go a little bit loopy the moments always just like such a blur your heart is racing so fast all your thoughts in your mind completely go out the window and you're just completely thinking in the moment that moment of joy when you do land your target the fish that you've been after for ages or a new PB is always worth the effort and that's why this autumn we really wanted to give it a go catching ourselves a bigger fish we decided to set herself a challenge for this summer in autumn the challenge I set for myself was the catch a big sea bass I think there's nothing more impressive than a massive Bora silver caught out of the sea in terms of size I was thinking of a fish of over ten pounds I on the other hand wanted to get myself a really nice barble something that I hadn't called for quite a long time I first got into bass fishing about two or three years ago and it was mainly inspired by seeing a photo of a 14 pound bass caught by a friend of mine Sam Woodman he caught it from the shore and that was an absolutely so ever since then I've wanted to catch something like that myself [Music] to be truthful there's only really been a couple of occasions where I've caught big bobble one was when I was much younger and I used to fish the local river in that we're pool there was a couple of double finger fish those were the real big uns of the river they were known known fish and they were ones which I'd set my eyes on from when I was very young I used to fish that River quite a lot when I was younger almost every opportunity I had especially during the summer holidays I'd be getting down there it's like me my bike down sometimes with Alex trying to crack the code of that River and actually try and get some of the bigger fish there was a handful of really nice Barbara in that in that wave pool and a couple of nice ones further downstream as well it took me an awful long time to get one of those big fish but I did eventually catch the biggest bärbel the biggest known viral in that river and a 13 and a half pounder which was at the time you know smash my PB and since then there's only been a handful of times where we've caught Barbara of over ten pounds [Music] one of my first sessions fishing for bass was with Sam he took me out to the beach near where he caught its fourteen pounder and that was when I kind of realized that baton not an easy target [Music] yeah I was very fortunate to catch her a beautiful bass two weeks ago I think it was pretty much two weeks ago on this same set as tight fishing off the beach my first session off the shingle fishing with bait this year I was with a friend of mine Mick we had three or four fish between us which was a great nice fishing for one of them big one the high was 14 pound 4 ounce and I was incredible as fish of a lifetime that right there to catch a bass though that never in my wildest dreams and I think I'll catch one laughing [Music] I'm gonna get to it and try catch big back [Music] [Music] loads of weed out there today which is not ideal for fishing gets on the line means you have to keep recasting but all part of the fun I had done a little bit of Bible fishing over the summer starting off at the beginning of the season Alex and I hit up our favorite small River and targeted bar Berlin's shallow Clearwater catchin numbers of fish but no big ones yep fish on Oh we'd also done a trip to the river wye where the conditions were really against us it was super super hot the river was on its bones it barely had any water in it we had had so little rain and that session was tough but I did manage to catch myself a Bible and my partner Tommy also had a really nice one too but not the size that I'm really after now so I needed somewhere else and he did to target my attention somewhere else if I was going to get myself a real big one I didn't have a lot of time on my hands though and I kept thinking about the local River it was so close to home it was somewhere that I knew but I had this thing inside me that said don't go back there don't revisit that old horn it won't be the same the fish won't be around it won't be the magic that it was when I used to fish it when I was younger I was sat at home that evening I finished work and headed out and Tesco to go and do some shopping whilst out the rain it just struck me how heavy it was we hadn't had rain in ages that summer had been a really real dry one but the persistent rain that had gone on through the entire day and into the night all I could think about was that River rising and I decided I was definitely going to get down that we're poor the next day so much time to head home but before we do I need some spam span is an absolute essential if we're bible fishing in the morning so I've picked up a tin of that I went online and got myself a membership for the fishing club again a club that I hadn't been a member of for years and years but luckily I could get my ticket online it came through that night and the next morning I woke up at the crack of dawn to get down the river our local river is quite small very shallow and also quite overgrown a lot of it the access is really difficult and you're fishing in a couple of foot of water in an undercut or something next to some tree roots or whatever there is however one part of that river that changes dramatically and that is where the water flows underneath the bridge into a deep churning we're pool due to this change of habitat and the depth of this pool and the oxygen that obviously flows in where the waterfall comes down it seems like it's a really good environment to grow bigger fish add to that the fact that there's people fishing this spot almost every day of the year and they're putting in bait the barbel and indeed the chub bream even carp grow a lot bigger in that particular area of the river than they do elsewhere to be honest arriving in the pitch-black all I was hoping was that the swim would be free what I wasn't anticipating was that the river was actually going to be seriously high and very very flooded I [Music] knew for a fact that a small one ounce little flap hair LED or something was not gonna hold the bottom in that flow so I slipped on to the leg clip really big leg and chose two wraps and softened pellet around the lid using a PVA bag or something in this fast fast flow I just imagined the PVA bag dissolving in the bait just disappearing off downriver so wetted down pellet squeezed into a sword paste wrapped around the lead will at least stay there for a while little bits would come off and scent would go down the river but not just get washed off straightaway for a hook bait of course good old spam I have not found a better bait to use in flood water than spam the oils in it the strong scent of it and the texture it just seems to really work and barb will find it in the colored water I looked at the pool I thought where can i realistically hold bottom whereas my leg in a stay put and the big slacks of my rights seemed like a good option I have caught bobble from there in the past but not all that many so I tried that first a few hours passed and I reeled in a number of deals not what I was after and certainly not fun to try and get off the hook quite a bit a time it passed and I knew this session was going to come to an end and I had to get back home and crack on with some work so I made one cast across the pool where I hoped I could hold bottom across the main flow into a very small slack on the opposite side that is a spot that I have fished in the past when the water level is lower and it's been quite good but with this seriously fast flow down the middle of the pool I could barely get the four outs led to actually hold the bottom over there luckily my rig stayed put for a little bit and in amongst the turbulent water a bobble did find my bait and eventually I had a bite that bobble wasn't very big but it was a start I've managed to catch myself my first Bible from this pole in absolutely ages on my first session back [Music] over the next few weeks we just kept having more and more rain I looked out the window every time and it just kept coming down now flood water is a great time to catch viable but there becomes a point especially in a very churning fast flowing whiffle like that where there's so many sticks and leaves getting washed round it's like trying to put a rig in your washing machine things just get tangled on it the hook gets covered in leaves and to be honest I wasn't feeling all that confident so I didn't get down and fish the river for a good couple of weeks since that first session fishing of Sam I feel like I've learned a lot more about bat as a species and over the last year I've actually managed to find a few spots and find areas where I can consistently catch bass oh yeah yep we got one I found that early morning sessions in conjunction with an incoming tide has been one I've had most success what a sunrise oh yeah I've done plenty trips out to the local beaches where I've managed to get amongst lots of bass but I just haven't managed to catch anything over sort of the four pound mark I have however had a few fishing trips which have been better than others one of the better fishing trips this summer was when we went out on a boat of Brighton we got amongst plenty of bass and even managed my personal best at the time this fish was so hot had me think it was so much bigger finally I've got myself a bass another memorable time from the summer was when I went on a camping trips and friends stumbled across an area of sea which was just loaded with fish they were so many mackerel about an even plenty of bass I caught a couple there which were probably from the twos a four pound mark and they were nice fish to catch from the bijlmer fishing after a summer of catching plenty of bass just nothing of the size I was after I figured I'd need to try something different I had tried different timings try on different tides or different areas it was coming into autumn now a time of year when big bats are known to come closer to the shore and they do become catchable I decided to visit the beach on incoming tides as usual but targeted in the night time so arrived around 9 o'clock in the evening and fish it till the early hours of the morning I've heard from lots of sea anglers that big bats feed a lot more confidently in the outer darkness so that was exactly what I was going to do fish in the middle of the night [Music] we've got down to the water and it looks pretty much perfect the conditions are northerly winds which means it's not too choppy which is perfect for lure fishing the color in the water is decent there's a little bit of color but not too much since the fish won't see the lures got 22 gram jighead with a soft plastics and a l'heure and we're going to keep casting until we catch one Tom's wooden salad I like it I like it [Music] [Music] blanking is so common when Tolleson big fish and that's exactly what I experienced over the next couple of weeks I was turning up at the beach in the middle of the night fishing for a few hours as the Tyros and she's not getting a single touch and I started to lose confidence is at this point in fishing where you either give up or keep trying and you've got to be strong in the brain to just decide that I'm just gonna keep going until it happens and how a casting has just passed without anything that's kind of was expected that's how most of my baptism centers have gone recently but I think I've gotta keep passing keep fasting until the tide comes right in mr. ho tied in and then I'll know that I've tried my best [Music] three hours of casting were completely unsuccessful the wind picked up as well and there was more and more color in the water which made me feel really uncomfortable many more bytes so we're gonna head up now I'm sure gonna be back here soon though because I really really want that big fast and all it takes is another day different conditions at the basket be here and on the feed oh well one of my next sessions was a lot better than the last and although I still didn't catch any bass I did see some sign of life I caught two really nice squid my god he's just changed he's changed hasn't it oh my god this is my eye watching now although they aren't the most exciting thing to catch they do taste delicious so the next day I cook them up or some chilies some garlic spring onions and they were absolutely delicious currently cutting up some garlic that's gonna go with the squid that I caught yesterday night it's gonna taste amazing [Music] [Music] I am the most excited I've ever been about eating some food ever I've seen this in the Chinese takeaway and at the Thai restaurant so many times and I finally cooked something similar don't is going to taste quite as good as he did get it at the restaurants but there we have it salty chili squid freshly caught yesterday and Kyle and I are about to demolish this this makes me so happy yes oh you're so tasty I actually go catch squid more often hmm but I still needed to catch that big bass one evening the following week a couple of my friends tempted me to get out the house and head down to the beach for some fishing they mainly wanted to target squid but I chose to stick with the bachelors as that was all I had on my mind half an hour into the session are constantly casting and somehow I managed to hook into a bass and it was easily a personal best check out that bass I can't believe it we were just passing up the shore this was the last thing I expected a bass of over five pound smashed the LA what a [ __ ] Oh something changed that day and I have a clue what it was but for some reason there were plenty of bat in the area and they were on the feed and not long after I was hooked into another monster bat what are you serious this would be a monster this is a frickin monster what if I go ahead it's a big [ __ ] this is a big big [ __ ] I'm freaking out big time Oh monstrous oh my oh shoot oh geez that's that is fur that's the bass are you oh my god I just had a fish just under six and now this one's just under eight god I mind that is just crazy I am speechless I did not think I would catch anything let alone a five pounder and a fish which is nearly eight pounds this was such a last-minute decision I was like I've sat in front of the TV having an Indian takeaway I was like shall i go fishing today probably not how he gives me a call we go out and I don't know what to say we've got to put this one back oh my god all of a sudden the blanks were completely forgotten about I just couldn't believe how this session was going we were only halfway through the incoming tide we still had a few hours of fishing left and it only got better we are hooked up into a big bass it just rips so much time I can see the back [Applause] [Applause] Don Harry can do it oh my god it's big Ivana it's not it's bigger oh my god that dream bass fishing session was the reason I returned again and again it was definitely one of my highlights at this year and those moments I would just never forgets the Louie took pretty much same size to last yeah that's something what a way to end the night three huge back well three baths two of them monster this is another one just under eight pounds what a nights fishing oh my god [Music] just got back home after a session of a lifetime we were only out there for about four hours but what happened was just in same so I can't believe it [Music] eventually the weather changed the rain began to subside and the river fell back to its normal sort of summer levels it was time to get back down there and give it another try I should drove past the river on the way back from dropping something off at a friend's house and I spoke to a guy who was fishing in the pole he'd been sat there all day in that had a bite but he said he was gonna give up soon about half an hour and go home I thought that's enough time for me to go home get my kit and get back down there and fish to swim after him it can be a little bit tricky to get in that spot as people often get down there very early in the morning and stayed throughout the entire day so I thought this was a good chance to get back in the swim and try again I gathered together my kit quickly in the garage chucked it in the van and got back down the river the guy had just left and that meant I could get in the swim for looking at the water I thought I'd try something a bit different I remembered seven years ago or something speaking to a guy who used to fish that pool and often caught the bigger fish very very close in back then I'd never had much luck fishing that under underneath the rod tip but on this session I just felt a bit lucky rigged up my rod with just a few split shot pinched onto a little loose piece of line running on a swivel so it's a running rig but I could pinch on different numbers of shot depending on where I was gonna cast and how much weight I needed to hold the bait down I put on I think three or four SSG shots it was quite heavy but no resistance or anything I baited my hook with a little piece of spam littering my favorite barbel bait in the whole world and lowered the rig in so close to the bank where the water runs down and plunges into the pool it's created a little bit of a gully where the water sort of eats eats out the bottom and erodes it away that little deep hole I thought would be perfect to drop the rig in I thought I'd give it a go I dropped that rig down there and had a couple of little taps straightaway thought maybe they could have been leaves or twigs or something brushing the line or potentially a child and then I lifted the rod up just to check what those taps were at first I pulled hard thinking it was a snag and then bang it's not moving [Music] the fish pulled hard down went a bit left a bit right tried to get down underneath the undercut where it came from before it then popped up in front of me and instantly I looked at it and just went oh wow that's massive getting it in the net I look down at that fish and realized it was definitely one of the longest bar blood ever caught [Music] yes [Music] lifting that fish up to the camera and just grinning ear-to-ear I could not believe my luck [Music] I've returned to the river that I've fished so many years ago as a kid and I've managed on my second session one of the biggest bärbel in the river and definitely one of the biggest bars I've ever caught I could not believe my life thanks boys in the video I hope it inspires you to go out and break a personal bet it's such a good feeling when you catch that monster anyway I'm out on my next adventure we'll see you guys there and lastly we get some great action fishing on some microwave streams hope you enjoy fishing when it's cold can be hard so we decided to make this video to not only show you it's still worth trying but also offer some advice on how to keep the pipes coming through winter months [Music] it's absolutely bitter this morning well below zero degrees but we're going to be fishing the sorts of values that you can still get bites from those are small streams today we're going to have a challenge where we fish a number of small rivers try and get some bites and try and catch as many different species as possible we'll see you down there [Music] so this is the first location for today it's a quite shallow meandering stream in the most part it's about six inches to a foot deep but on each of the bends on that point where the where the flow changes directions it erodes away the bank and creates these sort of deeper pools so along this field there's probably four different spots I'm going to give a go today the rest of its just too shallow and it's not worth wishing for this first spot for example I've got fast flow underneath my feet it goes off into a deep pool and that deep area is where I'm going to drop my flow down to start off the day go away with it they have a first species of the day a days I was catching small days and tablets consistently with bites coming from the off the approach for this stream was float fishing I was using a top and bottom style float attached with float rubbers three split shot were pinched on the line spaced equally apart allowed a size 14 hook baited with two maggots every other cast I'd feed a small pinch of maggots around the float and then pay off line watching carefully for bites as it drifted off downstream never low chub [Music] on really small bodies of water like this it's quite good to stay mobile a lot of these sort of spots you'll catch the fish that are hungry that are in front of you and then you've got a move to try and find some more in my previous experiences on this exact River I've often had days where the fish I just showed up in one particular hole loads of them and then the other spots there's not so many I've had a few fish from here but nothing massive so I'm gonna head down a little bit further and try somewhere else [Music] by this point I was getting very cold so I was glad that plenty of action was keeping me on the move that's a bit of a surprise actually because it's the only gudgeon I've ever caught from this stream normally I catch charmed days sometimes trout but never budges the first one I've ever caught from here my third species of today so although today the river has got a lot of leaves in it and it's proving quite difficult to get through to the bigger fish and controlling the floats quite hard as well I was actually here probably just over a week ago with my friend Ryan we came down to this exact same stream conditions were a little bit warmer and there weren't all the leaves in the river and we had a really good day out fishing today with my friend Ryan doing some small stream missions before we film a video next week about this very topic doing some practice fishing and I've caught a chub I say I've caught Chavez actually caught loads oh is this I haven't even seen it yeah Oh me that's a shovel yeah I managed to catch some chub days think Ryan had a perch and I also had a pretty cool looking trout today though the leaves are proving to be an absolute pain trying to control the float right now is impossible trying to get the floats sort of go between the leaves as it floats down so that the hook doesn't get caught on them just lost that one I'm getting the odd by not gonna lie but it's a lot harder than when I was here the other day with my friend I think what we're gonna do now though is gonna pack up head off somewhere else I've got a few other little streams in mind and a few other species that I'd like to catch before the days out oh we're back in the car like Hartfield my finger I can feel my finger I can feel immense pain in my fingers so flippin cold the by is a buyer this time of year if I'm catching little days chub hurts Roach gaijin who knows anything it's better than sitting there catching nothing for the here on the stream that we are heading into now is quite different from where we were earlier the first river we fished this morning was relatively clear water quite fast flowing a nice clean habitat and it's full of dates and charb another silver fish where we're going to now is a bit weird really it's kind of like a ditch it's like a muddy ditch but in that murky muddy slow flowing water there are sometimes a few bream perch Roach gudgeon an even car I've caught a carp from this stream that we're going to knit where we were last I could float fish because there was a good speed of flow and nice long lengths of river where I could watch the float run down here there's a tiny little deep hole next to the leaves hanging over the water down there and it's such a small area and there's not much flow on a float fish in this particular spot it's quite difficult so instead I filled up a feeder full of maggots and I've hooked on a worm and with this thing they drop it down there so but the bait is anchored on the bottom static hopefully the fish will find it that was a bite around 15 minutes passed without another bite so I decided a move was in order okay I'll try the other spots down there I baited up again with worm and maggot before filling my feeder ready for another cast just move slightly further downstream I'm gonna drop it in down here instead not sure if it'll be much better but the other spot didn't do much [Music] full patch patch patch patch back with all good one was a bit long getting something the trees here he comes this is why a lot small stream fishing well how about that that my rod is the same width as this River that's how small this body of water is but just cuz the wars are small doesn't mean the fish are gonna be small Wow look at that what always comes as a surprise when you put a really quality fish out of a tiny shallow muddy ditch like this one and these fish that live down here is still surprising me I missed a few bites we're starting to get a little bit frustrated but then I hook this one and head up for her you know it's bad when you you can't really feel your fingers whilst you're trying to unhook the fish proper Boston perch and another species of my list today [Music] I'm sure you will have all noticed that when it comes to winter fishing can get really hard you can get on a good bite from Pike or perch maybe even Zander predatory species do tend to feed quite well through the winter but you can often find yourself when it gets really cold just struggling to catch anything anywhere I just hadn't I just had a nibble and and that leads me on to this sort of venue I wasn't expecting that a bream the port is gonna be another really nice perch but Sir slimy silvery bream as an angler you've probably already noticed that when it comes to the winter months the fishing can get quite hard larger bodies of water can be flooded like large rivers and stuff lakes can freeze over and when that happens our main choice of location to go fishing out and get a few bites is small streams like these ones they tend to be ignored by most people you would naturally walk past this and think that's probably not even any fish in there it's so small and muddy but small bodies of water like this one can be your best bet of catching fish and winter [Music] what's the plan now bright we've got one more spot that we want to try though which is a weird pool that we've never actually cast a line into but we sit on top of the bridge by the road and looked into it a few times so we're gonna head over there and try it out this is gonna be the last spot we tried today it's right next to a quite a busy road so bear with us for the the noise in the background but it looks quite good down here we've driven over this river quite a few times just looked out the window and seen it I mean it doesn't really look but it give you beautiful but there could be fish in here so we're gonna give it a try [Music] [Music] you got one there's fish [Music] I've only made one cast into this pool and we float fished maggots I've got myself a job first ever cast em dear [Music] oh this spot that we've come to you now is quite different from the others it's a little bit more urban it's in a more built-up area and just to my right is a dark hole and that is a tunnel that goes under like 8 lanes of motorway it comes up on the other side and continues its way through like a few towns and stuff but where it comes out here is this open pool it's a couple of big holes on the other side as well where that drainage water seems to be coming in like from the road or something and yeah and then it sort of shallows up towards the end and then runs off downstream and I look we've looked at it a few times and thought like there's got to be a few fish in here and it wasn't until a friend of Alex's came down the other week and caught a nice chart that we thought we've got to give it a try and I'm just making a few casts now and I'm getting a bite oh my god was that point dude okay so where do we get on that yeah a pike just came up and almost grabbed the fish that I was reeling in gone my heart that gave me a shot that did yeah where was I yeah I've made a few cast I'm getting bite to almost every time now that that Pike has gone mental in front of me and chased that small fish across the surface maybe that will kill the fishing off a little bit maybe those small fish won't feel so comfortable once they've seen that pike we're gonna keep trying we'll give it a few more cast and see what else we can find oh the water go you are one lucky fish oh my god that was insane what the hell is that Pike really wanted to eat that fish and I was just reeling it in and it went for it I'm not sure if that will scare the other fish off I don't have a pike rod in my band today I think I might come back another day and try catch him that Pike is hungry whilst I continue float fishing acts put down the camera for a minute and filled up a maggot feeder you wanted to try and cast underneath the bridge to see what was lurking down there I went about 25 meters underneath that bridge that's that car is underneath the cars in the motorway BMW's went over the survey wolf you've got Alec I'm freaking out the rules on the wrong side I'm left-handed and this really go backwards for me it's like decent on the feeder up there and it's just cast the feeder rod right up underneath there was I was float fishing this part and he's got a really nice job oh wow God ice took a break from the filming made a clasp to the feeder rod that's the biggest fish of the day yeah it should be is here's a chub I just flew out made one cause of the feeder with the double maggot Costas before they could underneath that bridge because it just looks like something big must live under there and it does biggest list of the day what it's helped so what we what we're trying to understand here is I've fished all day or faced a load of different places ax has had one cast with my rod underneath there and he's pulled out the biggest bit of the day why does this always happen it's not something you can teach me it's within me today's been pretty good we've had a range of different species we fished three different locations this one is somewhere which we've never been before we found out that it's definitely worth returning to Alex as always caught the biggest fish of the day so only made one car I only made one cast caught the biggest fish today and I've just got another one which would probably be the last fish that we get to catch today or the pike just came back well that's a nice roach actually that's that for today Alexes got a roast dinner preparing at home ready so I'm looking forward to enjoying that we'll see you guys soon we decided we couldn't possibly end the video there instead we're coming back a day later and we're going back for that very aggressive like we saw yesterday question is that are we gonna catch it it's not even a question but you're confident yeah like the jumps how the woods get your Road and the tax another three four times I'm certain he's gonna go hungry my thoughts are though that because he stole one of my ropes I was really good yesterday maybe he won't be hungry anymore because he's got fish in his belly and he won't want to eat anymore we'll find out someone's an ice ball no one would ever go fishing [Music] got some bait in there I wonder how hungry he's going to be we're back down in the spot where mr. Pike was yesterday and I brought a sliding float I've set relatively shallow probably only a foot foot deep there's not not particularly deep here and I'm going to let my dead bait float down so I can work out where the pike is it's got some dead baits in my bag here I'm gonna put one of them on it was smelt although I could smell ya mi know how it might take ragin I'm giving you little twitches to try and attract the Pyke's attention nothing here Oh big smell behind there I didn't see this world oh yes ready and I let go so no he just went upstream you didn't let go he just went upstream after all that times we tried for much longer than I expected to have to and we put to flight he's not bad Oh all no mate this one's scrapping he's taking me around a big snag what's the sky always good is it gonna go again oh here's a hook just won it so I'm gonna grab it when I grab look at that he's phallic well it was certainly worth coming back we got him the pike that terrorized our silverfish yesterday has now become the prey and we've caught him what an awesome looking small stream predator and I hope this video shows you that in the winter when it's really cold find your local stream doesn't matter how small it is it probably will hold some fish and in this case this tiny stream held my first good quality pike of the year [Music]
