and taking questions once we kind of open it up to questions so uh glad you're here uh we're we were laughing about it laughing that we have such a kind of a serious subject today so we're not gonna get too crazy we just want to really talk about some of these things that are coming not necessarily coming but signs to watch for uh you know in case something is is starting to happen you know toward a an shtf situation and you know one of the things about shtf and i talk about this a lot is you can have a personal shtf you can lose a job you have a flat tire on the side of the road and drop your phone in a puddle i mean that it doesn't affect anybody else but you and so you know that life just those things just happen and so this isn't a doom and gloom it's just we want to lay out some things well that'd be shtl wouldn't it shto yeah it's the life it's the life uh instead of a fan but uh we're gonna we want to talk about some different things you know just to get you guys to where when you see it coming you know a lot of you guys have been prepping or preparing for a long time some of you guys are brand new and you're just wanting some information and you know one of the things about us guys that have been around for a while you kind of get lulled and you know you kind of like well you know i got my stuff together i'm fine and uh i don't think he thinks you know really get to the point where sometimes you just think i don't think anything's ever gonna happen and you know and that was a wake-up call at 2020 at the beginning of 2020 because you know we did see some things that happened and you know a lot of shortages and of course with the lockdowns a lot of different things that transformed our lives and so we really want to just kind of bring some things and this really more applies to possibly an economic meltdown which an economic meltdown has a lot of forms to it and that's one of the reasons why you know we really wanted to bring this now before i get into it i do want to mention sportsman's guide they they're sponsoring today's video and sportsman's guide gives twenty dollars off every hundred dollar or more purchase using such so tch and i tell you sign up for their their their uh buyers buyers buyers programs the buyers club yeah sign up for their buyers club because i'm telling you you get free shipping on stuff and if you're buying big bulk items you still get free shipping on it yeah i always saved a ton of money i ordered a ton of jerry cans military jerry cans and uh you know i got them free shipping because i'm part of the buyers club and there's a lot of military surplus over there's one of the things i tend to go to but they have everything whether it's hunting shooting doing whatever so just check them out they're great guys they're just great people over there they've been around for a long time and so we really do appreciate them you know sponsoring us today and if you're looking for awesome magazine you know just for uh some some afternoon reading material i'm telling you sign up get their magazine they're getting along yes yes it's worth it to have their catalog of course you go bro you go broke but you got 20 off okay speaking of going broke all right so there are some things that you know that we need to watch for and and some of these are taken from real life events that i put this list together uh i'm a big student of for foul and his book uh in fact i'm reading it right now i'm about halfway through it again i've read it a number of times but it was the it's the modern survival guide for the coming economic collapse and it talks about the economic collapse that happened in argentina back in 2001. and argentina was a first world country i mean a lot of production a lot of food production a lot of industry manufacturing yes i mean a lot of europeans have moved into that area and uh a lot of germans and so there's a lot that goes on in argentina a lot of times we think about south america is like kind of third world but there's a lot of things that go on down there and of course we've seen venezuela with what's going on there one of the richest countries in south america oil rich i mean you know and food production and things and then you see this collapse and so one of the things that we just want to talk about is some signs that things could be going south and one of the big things right now is the political divisions that we have in the country there's a lot of people that are pulling apart it just seems to be getting worse you know how it's going you see it but it's not that they're just differences there are coming up to be just stone i mean it's like a concrete wall and you know and one of the things that you know we need to be careful of and this is just some personal advice is you know we're actually getting so myopic that any deviation becomes your enemy and you got to be careful guys because we've got us we can have our differences we can have differences of opinion but one of the things we got to be careful of is those people that agree basically and fundamentally the way we think we need to kind of find our common goals you know i i can't find any common goals with an anarchist i'm not finding any common goals with a communist or a socialist that's just not that to me is is a huge detriment to my family to our country and everything else but those who are really wanting to stand for freedom they may have a few different ideas we got to be able to to bridge that and so it's really important and to me honestly it's the majority of the country that feel the way that we do freedom loving they want to have the american dream they want to have capitalism but the problem is we're having this divide and it's getting worse and so that's one of the things that pulls a country apart i mean our constitution is what holds us together it's not race or creed or you know financial what it's it's the constitution that is our rule of law and when you have two sides actually pulling against that you know you've got to divide so one of the big things is is you know division in the country but also with political leaders that are corrupt you know it's funny over the years i've always looked at mexico and you know there's it's always been kind of a the known thing that you know mexicans uh the the government down there is corrupt and they do a lot of backdoor deals and they're they're just always doing things and bribes and different things and you know in america we've always had that but it is becoming to the forefront you know just the corruption that happens uh that and that's what happened in venezuela it's what happened in argentina is that the government was getting all these international loans and instead of putting it into the infrastructure of their country they were pulling money out and it affects us yeah absolutely absolutely i mean it definitely you know when we start to have uh inflation so first thing the second thing is of course with political correct well this is really the third thing but you know first we're divided secondly we have this this corruption that's going on that's hurting our economies one of the signs to watch for is something that i've noticed is food prices are starting to rise and when you see food prices rising that means your dollar is worth less so let's say that i take a dollar and or let's say i take five dollars and i go and i buy three cans of beans two weeks later i go to the store and i can take that five dollars and i can only get two cans of beans so you see where it's going your dollar is becoming worth less and less and so we need to make you know you just that's one of the signs to watch and you'll you'll just see it how it's going on i mean it's slowly just incrementally going down it was really funny you know over at 2020 at the beginning you know food was just gone and you know the distribution system was not keeping up and so that was one of the big signs you know that there is a problem and so you know just watch for prices and not only food prices which honestly are the most probably important but also prices on um you know your goods your supplies different things well i tell you one that i've just saw recently uh for some little projects and stuff that i've been doing is the increase in lumber prices lumber is up 30 to 50 percent um but osb uh press plywood a year ago was like 16 a sheet it's 35 to 40 dollars a sheet now wow um now two by fours have doubled or tripled in price you know what used to be two dollars and fifty cent for eight foot two by four they're about seven to eight dollars now so huge huge increases in uh in lumber prices over the last year well you know and some of that attributes sometimes to like hurricanes that have come through tornadoes and things like that you know we'll see the support what was the yeah you know another thing would be like with kovid with everyone being a lockdown and being at home people are doing more projects at home so they're buying more lumber consuming more lumber so it's kind of like with the ammunition thing you know it's it's it's capitalism at its finest you know though there's more demand for the product so the price of the product goes up until the demand goes down and then price goes down right and you know we've seen that with ammo i mean it's it's gone through the roof we were just talking about this we were up in north carolina this past week on friday went to lunch and this little gun store got some ammo in and so my buddy had a little he got an email or some kind of you know notification that this store had to eat had ammunition quite a bit of ammunition by the way i mean cases by the time we got there all the nine millimeter was just gone and it was fifty dollars a box i mean and it was gone they had some 223 and it wasn't much they probably had about 20 boxes and people were just coming in and just buying it it it went out while we were just in there for just a few minutes and so when prices go up people pay a lot of times now some of you guys are going i'm paying 50 bucks i understand if you've got ammunition there's no reason to but for people that have just gotten into guns it's funny i was talking to one guy at the body shop a buddy of mine that works up there and uh one of his best buddies has just gotten into guns and he's all excited he can't buy anything you know he really wants to go he wants to spend and you know that's one of the things guys is you know it's just that you go get that ammo and instead of paying twelve dollars a box you're paying fifty dollars a box what that means is your dollar is just worth less and so you know watching those things now obviously there is a special reason why the ammunition is gone you know raw materials are gone but whenever supply jumps up you know your raw materials uh we were just talking about how three of the biggest manufacturers of ammo right now have bought up all the brass supplies all the raw brass all the raw rice so they can make their and so that affects other industries so you know it kind of and so it those industries actually can't get brass material for whatever you know you go into lowe's there's a ton of brass fittings and different things those are going to be hurt from this you know from buying up so you know just prices in general which in mean inflation and so what inflation does is your dollar again like you buy those beans it just becomes worth less and less in argentina one of the things that happened there and in venezuela was that their their main peso or whatever they were using all of a sudden it took like way more to buy just your basic needs and every day it would change you know it was really funny in russia back to when they had their economic collapse there was this one story i read it was about a this company was a manufacturer of mattresses and they had like 200 employees there and they made mattresses and they would sell the mattresses and so what happened was as as the ruble began to go down in price the people would get their check they would run to the bank and they would cash it for dollars for american dollars because the american dollar wasn't losing value by the end of that week their dollar had i mean their ruble had lost like 20 percent and so if they held on to that dollar they could trade it in and get more rubles for you know the value and what happened was they kept doing that and the ruble got less and less like to where it got so out of hand that it was worth nothing the rubles were just worth nothing i saw one thing where a guy was rolling a uh a wheelbarrow one time to go to the grocery store and it was just piled up with money and it wasn't gonna buy much yeah and they started using it from for fire you know to make fires but what happened was the company started giving them mattresses in exchange for their work and so these guys would get mattresses and they would have to go out and sell them into the community and after a while they had to go farther and farther and farther out to sell these to be able to get money to be able to live and so you know here's the thing guys we've lived in a very uh stable economy we have a lot we have a lot of confidence regardless of some of the things that have gone on we still have confidence that we can live the way we live but this has happened all over the world and so really these are just some signs uh let's see let's get on our list a little bit um precious metals you know we've seen some fluctuation with precious metals back when i bought most of my silver and gold gold was three hundred and fifty dollars an ounce silver was five dollars an ounce so now silver is twenty seven dollars an ounce gold is eighteen hundred dollars an ounce that means that your dollar is just worth less so you know again that's just one of the things about inflation let's go to some questions and then we'll continue on we got something that somebody wants to pipe in uh mason ward asked i'm looking for a good website to order a big pack like 100 liters or more a liter oh like a backpack yes a hundred that'd be a pretty big backpack a big backpack there's a couple of guys that i really like i love um vertex vertex make some great bag those larger bags they make some really great bags but mystery ranch i really like mystery ranch bags uh they're some of the they're some of the best uh just excellent quality made here in the u.s but i don't think that maxpedition makes bags that big i'm a big fan of expedition bags but i don't think they make bags that back 100 liters that's that's pretty large yeah typically most of mine are 45 liter maybe a 60 liter bag so i've not really been in the market for 100 liter bag but the one thing about that size bag is it's going to be extremely heavy hang that thing out so but you know for your purposes but i would check out vertex and i would check out mystery ranch uh chris mcwilliams asked what about senior citizens what can we do to prepare oh well you know one of the big things is is in this video really or this we really want to talk about the signs coming if the the problem is with money in the bank a lot of times and this happened in argentina and in venezuela is the government would come in and take pensions take investments the banks would close because people couldn't go to those banks well you know some things that you need to consider like the most your banks are fdic insured all right but that bank is only fdic insured and your money is only fdic insured for up to two hundred thousand dollars so anything you have over two hundred thousand dollars in a bank account you could potentially lose if something happened with that bank because your money is only is only safe up to two hundred thousand dollars um so maybe if you've got more money than that look at having different bank accounts right now with the stock market as volatile as it is maybe look at moving your money over into a uh into a low interest cash fund uh just to protect what you have instead of instead of playing the market and looking more at uh at some you know low or even medium risk stocks i would look at moving your money over into a uh into a cash fund and then that way what you have is safe and secure right now uh until some of this instability levels out yeah and looking at stocks that are more into commodities things that people are going to continue to buy because the problem is and one of the things on the list is local businesses closing an industry closing because the demand people just don't have the money to be able to spend and then you see businesses going going out or the exact opposite there's so much demand that it strips the industry of all the resources and you still run into the same problem where there's no product to sell so industries industries uh their their stock price devalues as well because they don't have anything to sell but i would look at precious metals as far as even investing not necessarily going out and buying physical precious metals but investing into it and i would talk to a financial planner that's going to be your best bet i know john lovell at warrior poet society actually did a video talking about moving investments from current money-making investments to more of an shtf angle that those markets and talk to now a lot of times your your financial planner is going to talk you out of it because they're like oh there's no problem there's no problem in the market and hopefully there's not and the thing is they're not making money if you're not making money so if your money is not in an account to where it's it's turning revenue they're not making money but if you move your money over into a uh you know like a cash fund the your your advisor he's not making anything off of that right because he's gonna just dissuade you yeah and a lot of times they don't really see it now one of the things that i would recommend though and i recommend this to everyone is to put back some cash uh you know one of the things that happened this happened all over the world that happened in greece it's happened of course in argentina and venezuela but the atms the banks closed and you can only get so much money out of the atm a day or a week it was very limited and that's only been just a few years ago in greece and the problem is is that the atms would run out of cash and so having we always try to keep a nice amount of cash handy in case of that kind of thing and a decent amount but also you know one thing i've been doing lately is buying silver and um i've just been buying silver because here's the thing about silver it's not necessarily an investment but it will protect your wealth so if you've got five thousand dollars in the bank that could just disappear and it can or or you haven't some kind of pension take it and put it toward physical silver or gold and then you've got that tangible silver that's right and you know a lot of people especially in the survival community previously has been like well you couldn't eat silver yes but silver is a known value and i can take it and barter and trade with it because people know the value of it yes uh derrick pierce asked what do you think about the sc4hm the se4 hm oh the sc yeah i thought she said sc what the heck is that um love the sc knives uh i mean that is my go-to knife uh i like the se4 the five six gets kind of big uh i'm a big fan of the the azula excellent knives the the metal in those knives they sharpen well they cut well and uh they're just workhorses so if you're gonna do a lot of like real fine wood processing i like the mora knives actually i like that scandi grind but for good hard work i've got about three of them yeah i love it i do love it uh sc to me is one of the best and when i say medium price because some people are like looks like they're over a hundred dollars those are medium price knives and they are excellent so highly recommend them uh jeffren shaw asked what emergency food supply do you think is good well i'm gonna tell you something funny we we went years ago went to the mormon cannery bought a butt load of 30-year shelf-life food and really cheap because it's just bulk type food you got to make sure you have the tools to process it like a grinder and all that stuff which we have as well but when when coveted hit i'm just going to give you a kind of a little bit of a tip when covid hit we didn't get into our long-term i'm pointing that way because it's sitting over there i we didn't get into our long-term food storage because it's a lot of work and honestly we didn't want to do that we weren't desperate we just didn't you know we just noticed the grocery stores were becoming you know boom now we had a lot of food stored up but when i did this video actually just recently on canned food and it is it hasn't honestly it has an indefinite shelf life if you keep it temperature controlled and in dark dark area if you keep it stored because of the heat processes that go into canning it and the sterilization that's around it and then they put liners in the can so you're not getting that metal taste that's right canned food to me is the easiest that and dried beans and rice yup and and things like that i mean salt you need salt you need those things we do but one thing you have to watch out for with a lot of your canned foods is the the level of sodium in them a lot of your canned foods have a real high sodium content so that's one thing to be aware of when you're when you're looking at so at uh canned foods for long-term storage make sure that you look at the sodium content in it and try and get the ones that are low sodium to try and minimize uh just getting too much salt in your food but on the other hand if you don't have a salt you know if you don't have salt in the back you're going to need that salt in your body that's right but you know especially when you go into restaurants and stuff we get a lot of salt so home food is a little bit better for that but now also you have you know your mres your we put lifeboat food together for our bug out bags but but not necessarily a full food source and then you have like you know mountain house foods and a lot of survival type foods uh there's a lot of stuff out there what i would highly recommend is before you buy a whole bunch of that food is to take it and test it because some of that food we've bought buckets of food before just saying hey let's just try this out and you open it up and it's full of salt full of preservatives full of whatever so do your due diligence and check that out if you're going to purchase you know that kind of long-term food storage but honestly canned food to me is just an easy way you go up there and buy what you eat absolutely if you don't you won't eat so we're not just you won't eat but you know you you can mess up your you can mess up your guts for a while you know if you start trying to eat a bunch of different stuff that you haven't ate before yeah it's it's not good for you internally right so when you're picking your survival food you want to pick things that you normally eat you know it's you want to have your greens you want to have your meats you want to have some beans but you want to try and pick things that you normally eat right so it's not a shock to your system if you have to dip into those kinds of foods and start eating those well southern prepper a couple years ago decided he was going to only eat the food that he had at least a year or more supply of and he said after about three days he couldn't eat yeah he said i just couldn't eat so um just do some research and test out those foods sandra templeton ask first gun for a newbie question mark uh for a female shooter i would highly recommend the cz i mean the uh smith wesson ez 9 millimeter or 380. that is a great gun for especially for female shooters because it's just very easy to manipulate um but i would not recommend a revolver a lot of times women go oh i want one of those smithy listen little snubby revolvers and they get it the trigger pulls like this and the trigger is so heavy that they either can't pull the trigger or they can't pull the trigger and maintain the side alignment and side picture and be able to shoot the pistol accurately my wife carries a smith and wesson shield for her concealed carry we have a lot of glocks are actually pretty decent to start with yeah my wife carries a 43x or a 43 depending on what she's wearing but i would do something um you know some guns if they have a hammer and all that you know it gets kind of complicated so to me a nice striker fire pistol would be a smart choice or again look at the c look at the easy the smith and wesson ez9 or ez380 those to me are some of the best guns from for new shooters and people that are really wanting to get into it and i enjoy shooting them so i think that's a great show the sig uh the sig p23 38 yep 238 380 380 that's got a really easy slide and i'm saying that not because i think you're weak or anything but a lot of times when you're new at shooting pulling that slide back and you're not used to it it's a little bit difficult uh kevin o'neil asked sorry to spam but have you folks ever considered brewing alcohol like wine and beer for storing calories yes i mean there are some really cool home breweries you know you can do and honestly it would be really smart i did a video on storing up liquor for shtf and a lot of the reasons it's medicinal it's social and it's also stress relieving and relaxing there's a lot of things you can do with liquor but uh yeah i mean it's one of those things to me that would be really cool to get into it's just a it's kind of time consuming to be able to get everything set up and if you've got the time yeah i would absolutely recommend it especially the one because you can you know wine you can bottle and store and keep pretty large quantities of it beer doesn't last nearly as long as as wine the beer will start to sour after a period of time or go green as it's called but the but wine you can store wine for as long as it's got a good cork in it you can store wine for a long long period of time and it's great for barter as well uh derek pierce asked where do you go to buy silver we have a local silver shop here in town upstate gold and i go in there and i'd say you know how what have you got for scrap scrap seal i like to buy the junk silver it's it's the original coins pre-1965 so 64 and below dimes quarters and i like to get some different ones because i like to have a small one if i need a dime if i want to trade something i've got that or i can go all the way up to dollars even and then i do have some cemented walking liberties that are 999 silver the coin silver is only 90 silver but there is a value to it that people can recognize a little easier in fact a few years ago when we had that economic downturn stores actually in our area started taking silver as barter i mean they would take it in as tinder so you know that to me is one of the easiest ways if you go out and buy a bunch of scrap silver this is stuff nobody knows the value of that yeah so but that's what i do i just go to a local shop you can actually get on ebay and actually buy silver on ebay but you got to be careful and you got to really know what you're doing as far as the value but that's and two sometimes you go to chalky lots and auctions i mean there's they're scrap silver absolutely absolutely uh jewelry stores a lot of times will happen if it's if it's one that makes jewelry or whatever they can have it uh ryan smith asked what about the housing market well you know it's like right here in our area the housing market's booming and you can't even find a house i know chattanooga my brother-in-law just bought a house and it took months for him because people are moving in so fast and that's the thing i've seen nationwide you know i was talking to some friends of mine in colorado and in idaho and they're seeing a huge influx of people from california that are moving to colorado and idaho we're seeing the same thing here in the south where we're getting people from california but then also from new york new jersey um and some of your northern states that are that are either retiring or relocating and moving down here because it's so much more conservative and our values and ideals align more with their values and ideals so they're moving here to to kind of escape what they're what they're having to go through in their in their home state but on the other side of that there's a lot more industry here there's so people are coming here for businesses yes and so really we we like the conservatives coming we don't like the liberals coming now if you live in an area where they're escaping the housing markets dropping in those areas and so you know it's one of those things where you're having a shift so it's according to where you are one of my some friends of ours that just moved down here that bought a house moved out of the minneapolis area right before the george floyd thing i mean like they sold their house and moved and it happened as they were moving out and so their property value actually went down now it's kind of fluctuated and gone back up but still you know that is one thing about you know it's it's different different places and that's one thing to always watch is the housing market because the housing market is a good tail for for the indus or for the uh for the economy as a whole yeah so you start seeing more houses on the market more houses not being sold the prices of real estate going down you start seeing the foreclosure rate going up and those are all good trends and good signs to let you know that uh that there's some issue with the economy coming right it's one of those things where you just need to watch yep uh cf 542 asks where can we find long-term food mres that are allergy sensitive i cannot tolerate wheat for instance uh i don't know that's one thing we're not really gluten sensitive i mean that would just take some research i hate to kind of put it out there like that and it's something maybe i'll kind of check out but um you know your typical mres are not going to be you know they're not worried about that as much so there may be some companies that do that but well that may be one of the things that you need to look at especially individually where you use uh start stocking up and storing like some almond flour and different things that you can use to make breads and stuff with that is gluten free now let's let's take a break for a minute because we want to stick with what we're talking about um because we're talking about solutions and we're not necessarily talking about signs uh one thing that you need to watch for though and of course we've seen it this summer is the civil unrest that's going on that really leads to the divide of the country but if you start to see a lot of civil unrest you know you know that things here's the thing when when companies go to invest in another country let's say they look down at brazil and they go we're going to move we're thinking about moving our com part of our manufacturing down there for all the reasons that they do that one of the biggest things they look for is stability in the country and look at the government and how they do you know if if they've seen it before where you know companies open up and then the government comes in and starts pounding them with regulations or you know the economy is not right and then people start with theft and things like that they don't want to be in that situation same thing here you know if the more that you have unstable government policies that are coming up you know and then you know your population one of the and another big thing and this is a big one going on with civil unrest one thing that for foul said was he said it wasn't like we had this day shtf this was the day he goes what happened was we just watched crime just rise and rise and rise more people out of work people bored people more emboldened especially since we have this movement to defund the police people are definitely more emboldened and then with a lot of the criminal justice reform where they're allowing criminals i'm talking about felons that are violent villains yeah out on the streets again and so and so their penalties are less so one of the things you're going to notice is is you have a rising crime it's one of those things to watch for uh another side of that is which leads to civil unrest and rising crime is more police presence out there and you know on the streets here you know people are out there with defunding the police it's going to be kind of an anomaly how that works out i know here in our area there's no call for that but those people respect law enforcement and you know i appreciate the job they do yeah i mean ever there's bad eggs in every industry every type of job and those need to be weeded out but your rank and file police officer is awesome they do a great job for and what they put up with is amazing but then you know you have when you start to see national guards one of the things that really kind of bothers me about around the white house right now is that you know they've got this beefed up huge beefed up security and you've got national guard troops there and it's just it's just you know it just makes me question which puts and here's the thing guys when you have national events that happen and people are seeing that it undermines their confidence and the problem with undermining confidence and we've seen this with the stock market is that they start to pull in some and then that affects the economy as well so it can be a snowball effect uh one other thing is too is the more regulations that come through the government which we've seen that over the years a lot of regulations regulations strangle businesses absolutely now down in venezuela this was really funny in one example i read where you could get mug there wasn't police presence out there to protect you on the streets i mean there was crime happening violent crime things were going on it was out of control but the law enforcement with the venezuelan government was going into businesses to make sure that they were keeping up with all the regulations and they were finding these businesses and they were on them so you have crime in the street but yet you have these businesses they have this added pressure put on and so and then which leads to businesses going out of business so you know it it's kind of that that circle but then and this is let me make sure i get this one right um yeah well the government corruption we've already talked about that but one thing with the regulations it's like what we're seeing right now an erosion of your rights now there's a saying it's like man has to be controlled it's either self-control or its force it's one of the other it's one of the other and here in america over the years predominantly people have had the discipline to follow rule of law they didn't want to go to jail they tried to do the right thing they wanted to do the right thing you want to do the right things people are less and less wanting to do the right things and so what's happening is is that means an increase in force control with our government and so government's having to close in it's just a natural effect one thing you're going to see though with the erosion of rights is first amendment rights which are seeing that kind of a road and then your second amendment rights and guys you know we are we're we're getting ready to face some battles to protect our second amendment they are rolling and you've seen it already and honestly we're not really going to talk about anything specific i know there's hr 127 that was really big but it was so crazy and it really hadn't gotten a lot of traction so we're going to watch for things that really have some threats to be actually a viable threat and then we're going to start pushing to bring that because we have got to be involved with our government and make sure that we stay in line because that's one of the things that happens in any kind of economic turn or in a socialist takeover is that they become the government becomes more and more oppressive and so again self-control force control you know we have to kind of look at that so that's a big one all right let's go to a few more questions while we're uh mike97 asked hello such i just left california and moved to arizona was it smart not just for the shtf but even normal life oh my gosh yeah i mean california the the regulations and the in the restrictions on freedom alone not to mention the cost of living yes and the disruption in services and a lot of other stuff i mean that to me and you know right now we're seeing you know gavin newsom's being you know they're having a recall because he has just done such a horrible job there and it's just a disaster so um you know one thing though a lot of people say and i see i've seen this over the years like talking about gun control and they're like well here in california we have this and people go you just need to move you need to move and sometimes you can't move yeah so you know because you have family a business you have whatever and so i'm happy that you were able to move and i think arizona is going to be a better place uh hopefully a lot of the californians that are moving out into arizona won't change the dynamics uh and hopefully to in arizona's had its issues as well but uh i think it's a better option in california at this point um echoes valor says question any recommendations recommendations for an older truck for an off-road gotta get out truck older because i can fix them without messing with computers too much yeah it's funny i used to do a lot of work on my vehicles and you know we used to change transmissions out you know take out you know do the uh just do a lot of work to them i mean all the time and uh and then once computers and you know you gotta hook it up to a machine and all that i just in fact i just stopped working on it all you know any of your your late 70s early 80s uh chevrolet four-wheel drive pickup trucks with uh you know with a 350 engine in it um or forward or forward i have a full yeah either one either one will be fine yeah you've got uh you can do a mechanical ignition you can do points ignition which are great if you have a like an emp because the point system will still work where your mechanical or your uh your electronic ignitions will fail uh so you know looking at those options um the older chevrolet trucks and ford trucks there's still plenty of parts available out there for them tons of aftermarket support for those uh and then the same way with the uh with the toyota trucks uh the the older toyotas um the 80s and 90s toyota trucks four wheel drives the same thing tons of aftermarket accessories they're easy to work on they're all relatively cheap to work on um you know it's it's that rabbit hole that you can really go as far down it as you want to go if you want just a basic bare bones pickup truck to get you out get you somewhere uh you can do that or you can go absolutely wild and crazy with it and build a complete over landing vehicle that uh you know it's basically a rolling mobile home uh so you know just kind of depending on which way you want to go but yeah i would say ford chevy uh or toyota and stick with the 70s or 80s with the with the chevys and fords or maybe the 80s and 90s with the toyota yeah the big thing too is is and like robbie said those brands are important because you need something that has a lot of parts out there and you know like with the ford truck it's one of the most i think it actually outsold chevy i have to stick that in there but you know it's but chevrolet trucks are great i mean those are two great options because of all the different parts as many as they've sold you can actually go and find parts even if you buy junk guns or junk guns junk trucks or you know you can buy total engines you could have all the parts you needed to be able to keep it up that's right yeah i think those are great options i would do some research though and see you know how well they did there were certain years it didn't perform as well as others so you can pick out what you want and i tell you another option that a lot of people don't look at is uh government surplus vehicles oh yeah you can pick up like a 80s pickup truck four wheel drive diesel engine non-turbo for like three thousand dollars thirty five hundred dollars um now it's gonna be spray painted green some shady yellow green camouflage or yellow yeah but you know if you're looking for a great little diesel truck that'll you know it's already got the beefed up axles and everything on it and a lot of the a lot of the really strong uh bones are there that's uh that's a good option as well um american patriot says such do um what is the best way to store ammo loose or in boxes from when purchased well the way i like to store ammo for long-term storage is the way we like to store ammo for long term honestly my favorite way is a standard military ammo can yeah it has a gasket around it uh the big thing is and we've talked about this a few times on here is that you know ammunition will last that's right the big the big problem is is moisture that's right water and moisture is what kills it and so so what what i do with mine like with don i do an ammo can i put my ammo in there i leave a little bit of room and i put a desiccant pack in there to soak up what little bit of moisture is left in there and i close it up and seal it up and that ammo will last you as long as you keep it dry that ammo will last you indefinitely yeah i mean there there you know when you get military surplus ammo a lot of that stuff's from the 40s 50s 60s 70s turn of the century yeah some of it's world war one that's right uh and it still fires but as long as it's processed now when you take ammo and you and it's been you know we in fact we were out the range the other day shooting the carcano yeah yeah and when we shot it one of the rounds it was like click and then all of a sudden boom you know had a five second hang fire with it so the ammo obviously when it was stored wasn't stored properly otherwise it should fire uh adrian lauderdale asked hello from ohio i'm currently looking into buying at least an acre or two of land in ohio for above out off grip grid prepping what are key factors that should be considered please and thank you uh there's a couple of things to consider about bugging out uh you know in a in any kind of major situation um you can get into a traffic gridlock where you can't even get get out of an area it's according to what's going on some things you know there's the slow burn and then there's the dynamite you know it's there's a lot of different variations one of the things though that is a problem when you get out is security especially if you're by yourself uh if i was going to go and find a couple this is what i would do and i'll just leave it at this if i was going to go have a couple of acres that i wanted to have a remote location number one is i would get to know my neighbors really well mm-hmm and uh and i would connect with them because one of the things you want to do is is be able to watch each other's back lone wolf mentality when it comes to survival is a death nail i mean you're gonna be and in fact that was addressed in for foul's book that in argentina was a lot of people bugged out and then the gangs and cartels knew they were going to do it and they went there to get their stuff because they were easy targets so you want to make sure that you have a community around you to be able to to withstand any kind of problem uh another thing is is is bugging out i think it's important if you happen to and to me bugging out is the last resort you're a glorified refugee if you bug out but if you have a location then that's the only sensible way to go so i think it's really good to have a remote location a place you can grow vegetables gross you can do things but you want to look for a community that's kind of around it that will give you some security and watch it while you're not there so um and some of the big things when you're looking for property that i would look for is a uh try and find a piece of property that has a spring head so you've got a good water source take some soil samples send the soil samples to some of your local universities and have them check your soil and make sure that the soil is good for growing that it's not real acidic or you know has a real high nitrogen content you want to check that soil and make sure that soil is going to be is going to be good for growing um i know in like uh west virginia pennsylvania kentucky a lot of times you'll have a high arsenic content in your soil because of some of the mining and stuff that goes on there so you want to check the soil and make sure there's not any kind of toxins or anything in the soil that could leach into your crops and poison you before you buy the property and start trying to grow everything there so just a few little tips there to check into as well and two if you live in a urban or metropolitan area i would highly recommend having a place to get to yeah uh that that to me just makes sense uh and possibly family or friends are also a great bug out location that live in a fairly secure area you know here's the thing guys you know typically let's say that what we're talking about here with an economic meltdown or whatever with shtf doesn't mean the whole country goes up in flames doesn't mean we go back to the stone age we won't we won't go back to the stone age there's too much technology there's too many things that people understand and know but you know there are people how to get out of the stone age [Laughter] so you know one of the things about it is is that there is going to be tech there is going to be some technology there may not be electricity but people know things but so to me one of the biggest things to that i would do is to to learn skills uh that may be from you know the 40s you don't have to go back to you know primitive primitive times no but you do need to know how to grow your food you do need to how to how to purify your water and that's one thing i would say with a place like that is water purification is important it's not just a spring would be great because you do have good pure water but if you have a river or creek you're going to need to be able to treat that water that's right bleach is good prepper mimi asks question interested in investing in solar power but would rather buy best option rather than mediocre and it not be enough what would you recommend best way to go thank you i'm gonna tell you a great resource for solar power especially off-grid power is uh practical preppers uh scott hunt he was the advisor on doomsday preppers as far as uh grading the different preppers on how they stood he does practical preppers i think it's practicalpreppers.com he does a lot of solar he has a huge amount of experience with solar and you can get in touch with him and he can help guide you because you know it is expensive to get out and put out a solar system you don't want to do it unless you have you know the the right means you don't want to put something in this week so to me that is that my best advice is to get in touch with practical practice and still have a backup generator yeah if you have a backup generator that's great that's great uh tommy hall asked have you considered the pacific northwest like mountain montana's idaho eastern oregon near um uh those are wonderful places um to live and the communities there are very close-knit and they work together it's more like a traditional america and they're seeing a huge influx in those areas from people from california as well yeah um you know you especially the higher the higher up in the mountains you get you get up like five six seven thousand eight thousand feet in the rockies and you're seeing a ton of people from california what what i would almost call expats at this point from california that are like yeah you know what i'm i'm ditching this place we're heading we're heading west and uh we're i guess northwest at that point but uh our east yeah we're heading we're heading up we're heading up in the mountains and we're just getting away from all this craziness now cody over at wranglerstar he lives in washington state or oregon i think he lives in oregon he lives in the uh the eastern part of oregon uh one of the things he said was his name cody and doesn't live in wyoming yeah and he moved recently so i'm not really positive where he lives but the thing is he he was talking about their community which was a rural community i mean there was a town there and everything but it was it was kind of out he said there was land that was priced way high and it had been sitting there for years all of a sudden being bought up that balled up all this property and people that came from the west coast that have a lot of money because they've been there and they've produced money businesses and things like that they're taking that and they're buying these properties and so um and that's the reason because they are a good area to go in so i highly rec that area up through there is is you know and it's sad that they're gonna you know there will be some that will contaminate that area well you know it's like we talked about earlier yeah a lot of this with these people leaving these areas and moving to other areas is artificially inflating the the real estate market where i think honestly at this point i think the real estate market would be flattening out or maybe even starting to take a downturn with all of these people leaving the these certain areas and moving to other areas it's artificially inflated the real estate market which is is bumping it up and making it look like the real estate market is doing really well when in reality i don't think that it's doing as well as people think it is right it's just out of supply and demand uh dennis trump asked question what gun is the best for shtf uh well i mean there's a lot of controversy over that one um us personally the ar-15 is the gun that we've chosen yeah uh not that we've you know the ak-47 is a great one i mean there's a number of different guns and then you go to different calibers but i'm gonna just tell you why we have chosen the ar-15 is number one it is a military sidearm it the the ammunitions used by police and military uh the parts are readily available and of course they're easy to install you can do a complete build of an ar-15 and if you ever need to repair it you can do that as well if you have your extra parts uh some of the other guns you know cause it's a lot more trouble the ak-47 is highly durable it's not as accurate as the the ar but it's it's very durable but the problem is is if something catastrophic goes wrong you're sunk yes you're not it's not really end user serviceable i mean you got to have the presses and everything to put that training with the barrel and all that and so that's the reason why we have chosen the ar is because of of that very reason and the glock for a sidearm for the same reason it's super easy to work on it's super easy to service anybody with just a little bit of knowledge can completely tear that firearm completely apart replace all the internals in it and keep that gun up and running for a really low cost and we did a video talking about the reasons why it is the best not that i'm glock myopic i love a lot of different guns but i do carry the glock but the glock really gets simple and when you're talking about a go-to firearm simple is important yeah it's like german simplicity which is an oxymoron [Laughter] uh the shadow watcher asked question in one of your last videos you talk about bear spray q how long does bear spray last is it still good after expiration date that's a good question um and i don't know the answer to that i think usually a lot of the spare spray is usually is good for about five years normally what you start to run into with with compressed canisters like that is it's not that the bear spray itself loses any potency but the can and the pressure inside the can whatever they use to pressurize the can will slowly leak out like with a fire extinguisher that's why you have to have your fire extinguishers inspected annually and then replaced because the your pressurized gas that that activates the chemical in there and sprays the chemical out will slowly start to leak out over time and then the can will leak down and you won't and it won't be any good anymore it's like a can of wd-40 right you pick up the w before you've been using it it's sitting there on the thing you grab it and it goes but you can hear it in there so you know it's compression uh to me it's because if you're going to depend on pepper spray uh in in you know a regular self-defense part of your self-defense toolbox is to to buy it regularly and to throw out those that are over a certain date there should be some date on there but honestly if it's an expiration date with pepper spray why take a chance i mean it's not really that expensive and it gives you that option so that that's the one thing i would recommend yeah and something else to consider if you ever use it if you ever take a can and you use it and you spray it you might as well toss it because you've opened the valve at that point and it will slowly leak down over time well it was funny somebody had they gave me one of these kimber blasters yeah and uh they had had it for a long time and even said i don't know if this will even work but here he just gave it to me and uh and i had it i had it for three or four years or longer now i've had it for about six years the other day i got out with it and i went and it went it sprayed just great yeah but so you don't know but i would not have depended on that in a self-defense situation uh travel nurse prepper ask i was thinking about buying property in arizona but i'm not ready to build yet what do you think about purchasing property now even if you're not ready to build i think that there are certain areas right now that it would be smart to to buy the property because they will it will possibly and most likely continue to go in value yeah so especially these areas that are being bought up by some of these people that are coming into areas they're looking for land uh people are looking for land all the time i get people calling me all the time or getting in touch with me saying hey i'm thinking about moving to your area what are the areas that are nice so yeah i i think that would be a great idea especially if you can find something that's very reasonable right now and then and then worst case scenario you could sell it for a big profit if prices go up and you decide not to move down to that area yeah look at uh look at tax maps for the area look at what properties in that area sell for what properties in that area have sold for over the last four or five years and that'll give you a good idea of what the actual value of that property in that area is that way you don't overpay for it now hold on just a second because i want to make sure because we we had the tent top 10 list i'm going to have the list i'll have to go in and do it later but i'm going to have the top 10 list below in the description just for you to be able to peruse but i just want to make sure that we don't miss something so what we've talked about is you know food prices rising you're seeing you know supplies rising uh you're seeing number two crime increase you're seeing it just a steady increase of crime uh and then you know precious metals start to go up in value and your dollar actually is becoming less which really is tied into the uh the food prices as well local businesses you're going to notice that businesses start to close we've seen that with covid which was kind of an artificial way but still you know you're seeing these businesses close because you know they're not able to continue business uh civil unrest starts to increase uh the problem is is the division in the country which is the opposite of stability in the country and then of course you see limits on bank withdrawals you even see bank runs at times listen if you start seeing a bank run or you start seeing people start to get nervous about their money in the bank i wouldn't hesitate i wouldn't hesitate too long because people get kind of crazy uh and then of course you know more police presence all around you see police a little bit more around you see maybe military a little national guard kind of around makes things a little bit you know that and because again guys it's either self-control or force control man has to be controlled um then you see a increase against your rights you see these people a lot of your rights being taken away a lot of your freedom's being taken away and we're seeing that already with certain things with freedom of speech and a lot of this stuff this political correctness stuff it's just an attack on freedom of speech but secondly you're seeing even self-defense your ability for self-defense what's really ironic about these countries that have gone into this these economic meltdowns is that you see a huge rise in crime but then you see the government coming in and putting a heavy hand on law-abiding citizens to be able to defend themselves you know i've watched over the years different videos and done studies and down in south america especially there's a lot of people that are you know they'll it'll show surveillance cameras of people coming in and killing people or robbing and usually the defender is an off-duty cop it's not a standard citizen because they can't carry guns it's usually an off-duty cop so you know that's one of the problems with when our rights get eroded you lose your right for self-defense and then you know government corruption which really turns into more national debt because the more money they're pulling from the system the less money that's getting out to its intended purpose and of course food prices but also food shortages if you start to see supplies and shortages you know that there's there is definitely you know some some issues now we saw it with covet it was a little different it was an instant thing but you know if you start to see it because of the economy because of job losses because of whatever it's just another sign to watch for and then of course political division uh which also leads into civil unrest and it's just a pull uh in two different directions okay it's one o'clock we really appreciate you guys being here today i know it was a little bit scattered because we had a lot of questions coming in but honestly i feel like it's important to answer those questions but we also want to thank sportsman's guide for sponsoring today's episode and you get 20 off every 100 or more purchase using s-o-o-t-c-h no zero zero no scooch none of that just s-o-o-t-c-h you'll be amazed everybody tells me people say scooch all the time people have called me scooch i'm like who scoops but it's sotch 20 off and get with the buyers club check out their buyers their buyers club you get free shipping on anything that you get from them and you start ordering bulk surplus stuff and the size of that stuff a lot of that stuff really really adds up and with free shipping dude it's it's a no-brainer well military surplus is great for preppers because it's good solid quality it's great for everybody but yet the prices are lower yep i mean you know yeah it's not your gucci you know rei store and you're going in there with all the cool stuff but who's trying to be a fa you know who's worried about fashion training i'll look at my birkenstocks at home i like that i do too okay so uh anyway guys hope this helped in a number of different ways uh but we really appreciate you guys coming out and hanging out with us we really appreciate robbie wheaton from wheaton arms check out wheaton arms dot com great resource and if you need custom gun work done which i me i've got a friend of mine i've got to talk to you about afterwards uh also sarah mack for being over and monitoring the questions and the comments so guys there's a lot of videos on sensible prepper for you to check out hopefully to answer some of the questions that you might have and one of the biggest things you can do though is mindset get in the right mindset because if you don't have the mindset and things start to fall apart you'll fall apart and you've got to be prepared you've got to be ready with your mindset with your attitude and guys it is a can-do attitude no matter what happens in the world you can still find joy people in third world countries that live in horrible conditions still find happiness and joy don't let that go don't let your mind just wander and and go to that dark place because if you turn it loose and let it and let it go a lot of times that's where it's going to go is that dark place take control of your mind and you focus your mind and you focus yourself on things that are positive and keep you happy and keep you going that's right things that are good all right guys well hope y'all have a great week be strong be of good courage god bless america long live the republic
