[Music] everyone knows joker and batman have a special relationship now granted it's mainly based on beating the ever-loving crap out of each other physically and emotionally but it's special nonetheless and over the last 80 years together joker has even developed a close enough bond to the big bad bats that he actually went ahead and saved bruce one way or another with that in mind i'm will for what culture and here are 10 times the joker actually saved batman 10. protecting batman's secret identity only a handful of characters in the dc universe know of batman's hidden identity and even the likes of the riddler have struggled to believe it to be true when presented with the fact that he is bruce wayne the joker on the other hand is one of the few characters shown to be all too aware of bruce wayne's alter ego batman 663 sees the joker playfully taunting bruce about his identity and batman beyond return of the joker shows how dc's biggest baddie has all the means to gain all the information he needs however the joker has never stooped to using this information against his oldest enemy the joker is absolutely enamored with the idea of batman not bruce wayne and there's a strong sense that he genuinely struggles with the idea that the dark knight could ever be stripped down to being just a man 9. stopped batman from killing riddler one of the most impactful stories from batman's recent history was tom king's the war of jokes and riddles the storyline sees the joke around the riddler squaring off against each other in a vicious feud and then all of batman's rogues gallery gets sucked into the conflict leaving gotham all but destroyed so when the riddler begins to push batman's buttons a little too much he lashes out and looks destined to break his golden rule it is the joker that leaps in between the foes and throws his hands in front of the blade batman is brandishing stopping him from killing the riddler and saving the one thing that keeps the dark knight from really going off the deep end 8. joker's memory helps spur batman on the video game batman arkham knight is set in gotham city nine months after the joker has died and explores the strange eeriness batman experiences without his old adversary being around the dark knight is constantly struggling to come to terms with the joker's absence and it is only through his death that he begins to understand just how deeply rooted their bond was it also serves as one of the best examples of how the joker has inadvertently saved batman's life with the dark knight constantly fighting through the effects of a deadly toxin and only finding the willpower to carry on thanks to the memory of his foe both taunting him and encouraging him 7. helping dick grayson's batman grant morrison's batman robin deals with an alternate dc universe where bruce wayne has died and the roles of the dark knight and his sidekick robin are filled by dick grayson and damian wayne from batman and robin 4 to 13 the duo receive help from a masked and mysterious british author known as oberyn sexton sexton is a writer who specializes in true crime but is also a cold-blooded murderer who killed his wife and attempted to frame it on a gang never want to miss a trick the joker worked out the true culprit of the crime and killed sexton burying him next to his wife in gotham city he then takes on the appearance of sexton and works alongside batman and robin after helping the pair solve crimes there's no way they could have solved otherwise the joker reveals his true identity and explains how he wasn't sure if he could continue being the clown prince of crime without his version of his arch-nemesis 6. preventing batman from killing the batman who laughs batman who laughs is a storyline set in earth 22 and revolves around a version of bruce wayne that is corrupted and jokerized into a being that revels in all things bloody and brutal the earth prime version of bruce wayne finds himself losing control during a confrontation with the batman who laughs unable to stop the brutal beating he's dishing out with a quick you're welcome quip joker hits bruce with a non-fatal gunshot incapacitating him and allowing alfred to intervene once again stopping batman from becoming the killer he fears he might one day become whilst he might have had his own tussles with the batman who laughs the storyline is a powerful reminder that the joker understands bruce wayne and how important batman's no killing rule really is 5. helping batman find a lost girl this story named fool's errand sees batman exhaust all other options and turn to his oldest foe for help in finding a lost girl the joker doing his best hannibal lecter impersonation from the comfort of his prison cell naturally throws himself into the whole thing with glee with the pressure mounting on batman all the time the clown prince of crime finally reveals himself to be the true mastermind behind the whole ordeal he saves batman a whole load of embarrassment and guilt by handing over the location of the girl to him where he's able to find her safe and sound as joker had promised 4. killing alexander luther the sole survivor of earth 3 during its storyline alexander luther is the son of lex luthor and lois lane and remains one of the most sinister villains in the world of dc comics such is the chaos and destruction alexander is able to cause during his time on earth prime it drives batman to the point where he looks certain to break his one rule once again all too aware of batman's rules and breaking points the joker saves the dark knight the task of killing a baddie in one of the most brutal sequences in the two characters histories it's another glaring example of how the two have been able to keep each other going for so long but also how the joker's insanity is part of what keeps batman sane 3. fighting owlman alongside batman the 13th episode in the first season of batman the brave and the bold sees the dark knight square off against his evil doppelganger from an alternate earth owlman during the episode batman is cornered by a collection of owlman's superhero allies only to be suddenly pulled into a warehouse and away from danger by this universe's joker irks by being outmatched by someone the joker convinces batman to team up with him against gotham's new big baddie and the two actually strike up a decent duo for a time with the clown prince's insanity proving to be the winning edge needed to best our man 2. stopping red skull during the batman and captain america crossover the joker and red skull actually start off as allies against the superheroes however things go south when dc's finest villain discovers red skull is working for the third reich it's admittedly a funny scene and somewhat comforting to see this criminally insane and utterly sadistic killer drawing the line at being a nazi the joker and red skull even face off in a fierce showdown saving batman and captain america the hassle of doing it themselves and also revealing that the joker has a patriotic bone in his body or at least an anti-nazi bone 1. searching for a cure in batman europa madman europa sees the dark knight and the joker forced together in a deadly battle for survival having both been infected by a fatal colossus virus the pair embark on a road trip across europe in search for clues and a cure to their affliction and whilst the pair are constantly locking horns thanks to the joker's constant and uncontrollable need to push batman's buttons through his sadistic antics the two most recognizable faces in gotham actually make a pretty good team on top of the pros he brings as an ally readers certainly get the impression over the course of the storyline that batman is secretly enjoying the comfort of having a familiar face such as the joker along with him during his trials plus he literally saves his life by stopping batman falling to his death and they have it folks 10 times the joker actually saved batman feel free to drop this video a like if you enjoyed it and drop me a follow on twitter at youslide.org you i'm will for what culture thanks for
