1 Week in Tokyo Vlog — Birthday + Shopping Haul

[Music] [Music] all right so it is my last week here in Japan I just spent the last week in the South around Kyoto and Osaka for my birthday and that was really amazing and it's sad to know that this journey is already halfway over but here I'm back in Tokyo and I'm trying to make the most out of this week so let's go get it [Music] [Music] hello all right fore speee [Music] [Music] I [Music] Stars last week for my birthday night I went to a Omak sushi restaurant in Kyoto and now I'm having french dining at beige aland duas in Ginza now this is only my second time going to a Michelin star restaurant so it's always funny I feel kind of nervous the fact that I have to get dressed up and the fact that I'm thinking about I don't know if I'm eating or having proper etiquette um at the restaurant but I'm ass it'll be a great experience and I'm definitely happy to celebrate it here for my birthday and time here in Tokyo so with that being said let's go out to eat [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so today is my last full day in Tokyo and this morning I have a photo shoot in Shinjuku so I'm going to go head down there to see the photographer [Music] [Music] he [Music] the [Music] [Music] see you're lost [Music] [Music] if necessary blow into the tube to inflate the life V all right so I'm back from Japan and some post-trip reflection this was definitely an amazing journey and I definitely plan on coming back soon it was an amazing experience uh especially having to solo travel and celebrate my birthday there but I would definitely want to plan more in the future especially when it comes to commuting and which destinations I want to go to that's something I definitely underestimated again it is only my second time in the country and I went to a lot of new spots but that's definitely something I want to do next time to make sure that's all handled now the reason why I chose Japan in the first place was because I've always had an interest in Japanese language and culture ever since the beginning of high school it's something that's heavily inspired my taste and something I've definitely been inspired to bring back home here as I continue to either cook or try different forms of interior design or different ideas to pursue language learning has always been a hobby of mine and ever since the beginning of high school I've been studying Japanese on and off this most recent trip I was glad that I was able to practice and immerse myself in to a fully Japanese language environment there were many times I would go to restaurants and only speak Japanese now I definitely need to increase my speaking ability because I would run out of things to say but I was really impressed by how much I was able to understand and how many conversations I was able to hold again this overall trip was very inspiring very encouraging and it's reminded me another part of myself that I don't usually tend to as I'm just so busy with personal life or work uh I'm glad I was able to have this dedicated time to ReDiscover that part of myself so with that being said I'd like to end this video with my haul from Japan and everything I was was able to buy over there and bring back home all right so this is a bit scattered but this is a bit of the collection that I've gathered from my trip to Japan and I'll go through each kind of pile one by one all right so for my first piece I got this Japanese Salvage denim from Edwin a wide fit and I'm slowly trying to get into fashion and trying to expand beyond the basics that I typically wear and I thought that this would be a good start next of course I had to get some Unico and if you follow me on Instagram you probably have seen me wear this outfit this is just a very basic neutral outfit that I think went well with some of the brown pants that I kept wearing in Japan and I got this at different Unico stores but I obviously went to the flagship store in Ginza which was amazing and yeah this is a piece that I'll be wearing for a while I was also able to go to the Northface standard where I got these unique cargo pants from the goldwind distributor which is only available in South Korea and Japan now the next thing that I got was this nice watch Nixon from bookof which is just a secondhand store I traveled over an hour to saitama and there's a lot of discounts for for the secondhand items this is a US company I believe but it was just a nice piece to have especially as I went out to nicer dinners and it went along with the suit that I wore all right so the next thing that I got was sweets and a lot of them I got this from the Nakamura tokichi store in uji and I had one of the best breakfasts um that I've ever had in their Cafe especially the matcha par parfait I highly recommend that you try it once you go there and here I just got a bunch of different chocolates and baked goods for my friends back here especially as I want them to enjoy matcha from uji in Kyoto next I got two of these glass cups from Kinto when I was in nakam megaro and it's double walled so it keeps hot drinks warmer and cold drinks cooler and it can also eliminate condensation so I definitely want to use this whenever I'm having tea or coffee and especially as I have more guest over I actually don't have a lot of um glasses for hot drinks right now so I'm glad to add this to my collection all right this next item is really cool it's a te- bowl from the oldest Tea House in Japan so I got this in in uji when I was in Kyoto and I went to tsen which is the oldest Tea House in Japan and I just got just a really nice bowl that I liked um handcrafted and I will definitely be drinking out of this as much as I can all right so next is a haul from the Snoopy Museum in Tokyo which was definitely a big highlight of the trip now I like to consider myself a fan of Snoopy but when I was there there was definitely really big fans of Snoopy um he's just a very adorable character and I don't know why but his character is just a Vibe and definitely matches my temperament in some ways so I'm glad I was able to grab something from the character that I feel like reflects something about me now again this is a place where you have to exercise self-control because there are so many things that you can collect but just some several things that I got was this limited edition Snoopy plushy from the museum in Tokyo I'm glad to have this I hope to hang this up somewhere um something practical actually I got this um luggage tag that I can use to identify my luggage as well as put down if I ever lose something it's just a nice tag and also a nice souvenir that's practical that I could use so next something I've been looking at for a while is this Snoopy Edition Toma which is basically this little just car that you could just uh rewind and then let go um but I'm definitely keeping it as a collectible for display as it looks especially very cute and of course I got a very simple te very minimalist just Snoopy and the name of the museum all right so getting a little fancy now I was able to go to the dipti store in Tokyo specifically the one in ginsa um but they have a limited edition Tokyo candle that you can only get in Japan now dipti has a variety of these City only candles where you can only buy them in that City and here I got the Tokyo One and here's the box for the candle and it already looks so beautiful uh I can't wait to use this on special occasions or dinners that I host it's already wrapped twice and from the bag I can already smell the candle and it smells very good it has notes of Japanese Cyprus pine oil and Cedar and it's supposed to remind you of the famous parks in Tokyo like yoyogi Park not only that but the sales associate was kind enough to give me a sample of hand and body lotion as well as a perfume so I can't wait to use these as well now the next thing I got was actually for free this was a gift from the afternoon tea that I had at the park haatt in Tokyo and first of all that was an amazing experience rooftop with afternoon tea and it's from the location that was shot in Loston translation if you ever seen that movie and here they gave me a little letter which has different photos of scenes in New York where the Harry Winston Brand is from as well as some chocolates um to take home and enjoy later so I can't wait to try these out as well and finally something very practical and from one of my favorite Brands Muji I went to the Muji ginso flagship store where they had so many different items and the mui hotel and Diner which I definitely want to try next time when I come back but here I just got a simple toiletry bag to replace the one that I've been using for the past couple years and then I also got this large suitcase which I already have a very large suitcase and a small carryon but this one sits in between in the middle so I'm glad I was able to buy that especially as I was trying to haul back all these nice goodies from Japan with that being said that is the conclusion to to the Japan trip thanks for coming along with these last few days in Tokyo and celebrating my birthday there now I definitely plan on coming back as soon as possible as Japan and its culture has been something has heavily inspired a lot of things in my life and I've definitely come back from this trip with a full heart and a full stomach so I look forward to that next time and when that happens I hope to to see you there
