Hey, how's it going? Welcome back to another episode of TwoSet Violin. On today's episode, we're doing, "You Cringe, You Lose." This time, it's TV commercials. Let's see what they do with instruments... Alright, Sprite. Okay... So much is happening. Yeah, so much just happened. One, there's like a green violin. Oh, my god. Why is there no shoulder rest? I feel like I just got, like, punched in the stomach. It's like... Yeah. "What just happened?" As a violinist, when you hear E string, you need to see the bow at like a vertical angle, playing. Yeah, yeah. Exactly. And his bow is horizontal, which means he's on the low strings. But he's playing high sounds. Tsk. You hear multiple notes. - Yeah, but he's not pressing it. - His left hand... He's not pressing notes. Plus, that posture is terrible. The reason why he's holding it like that on the left hand is because he has no shoulder rest. Some violinists play without a shoulder rest, but it's just technique. It's skill. The tension here is unbearable to look at. Brett: Yeah, it looks so painful. Yeah. And that bow hold... It's just like... Eddy: Yeah. It's down here. It should be more like this. Bow's crooked. It's been a while... I feel like, on our channel, that we broke apart the art of violin posture. - Yes. - But in case you guys are new to this channel, now you know. If you look at the still frame, it doesn't look too bad. That's true. His bow hold's okay. His pinky is straight, though. Yeah, it's a bit tense. And it's a bit crooked, but it's not the worst. - Oh, here we go. - Oh, I take that back. The moment he moves, it's just like... Your elbows can't do this, by the way. Yeah, no pirate arm. - Yeah, it's just... It's outwards. Extending out. - It's extend that way. Oh my god. It's a scale. You should be just on the E string, with a little bit of A on the end. - And, you don't... You don't really go... - Not... Oh... Sounds like our animal charades. Yeah, he's playing animal charades on a green violin. - It's a cow and a... - I thought it was a seal. Oh yeah! Wait, what? Did they just say, like, he was the best player? He pushed everyone out of the way. Wow. I cringed. OH! Woah. This ad just made sure that no musician would ever buy this product. Yeah... Why... Why would you do that? Why would you depict a violin, such a beautiful instrument, Yeah. as a sore throat. Yeah, and then your backing track was not reflective of what the violin's supposed to make, the sound. Yeah. I was gonna say, this guy's posture is a little bit better than the other ones. - Bro, look at his hand. - Yeah, his pinky's pretty bad, though. And his bow stroke was a bit like... Eddy: Yeah. Again, that pirate stuff, you don't do that. Yeah. But I guess... Yeah. At least he's got like a... Yeah, yeah. Suit. Apple! (Excuse me, maestro. Bring it down, please!) (Better.) For the high intellectuals... can you guys spot one error? Hmmm. Is it the violins? No. Hmmmm. Is the viola behind the cellos? Oh yeah, it's like one viola's behind the cellos. That's pretty funny. It's like, - "Now violas, you're behind the cellos." - Scoot them in the back. Well, if you look towards the left, guys, remember, we learned harp in one hour? What looks wrong about that? The harpist here is placing it on the wrong side. The harp is meant to be on this side, and not that side. Yeah, they could've just swapped the bass with the harp. Yeah, well... They could've just not put the harp in. Yeah. Like, 'cause what is she doing? She's literally just plucking one string. Is there harp there? (Better.) That's such an unnecessary instrumentation. Get a harpist to just go... (That's what happens to background noise when you're making a call on this.) I mean, but, doesn't sound bad. Background noise is more like noisy stuff. Yeah, he's saying musicians are background noise? Yeah, like finally they had legit musicians and he's saying that's background noises? Apple, HUH?! Apple! I might have to use Google Pixel now. I'm gonna have to switch to Both: SAMSUNG. (When diarrhea strikes, your digestive system goes out of control.) There you go, percussionists. You are basically, diarrhea. - Yeah - According to this ad, you cause diarrhea for everyone. (Take Imodium.) Why is there a distorted violin? And the clarinet's just... (It's effective...) Very abstract. Yeah. (...formula quickly and gently brings your digestive system back to its natural rhythm.) Ahhh, so the lower part is like saxophone. I see. The violins are more like up here. Okay, so a good digestive system is like a band that's playing harmony. Yes. And if you're like going... Then it's diarrhea. Yeah, makes sense now. But if it works, it should sound like violins, right? 'Cause... Oh! And there's like an orchestra. Ahhh, yeah. I can't believe they hired a whole orchestra just for this ad. That would've cost a lot. But hey, happy ending. Funnily, a story. We know two people that have had bowel problems on stage, so I guess it is a thing, right? They need some of that pill. Now I know why. 'Cause there's a drum kit inside. Yeah, yeah. Damn percussionists. Suzuki! "Mom, dad. You wanna see my concert?" "Let's hear it, boy." (Isn't it great, when you get more than you expect?) (The new Suzuki...) Did they just roast their own cars? "Get more than you expect"? And meanwhile, just had this horrible faking. Dude, I thought when I saw Suzuki, I thought it was like Suzuki violin. Not Suzuki, the car. And then... What an insult to Suzuki violin! I know! What is this...? You don't tune like that. There's no pressure. You need a counter on the other side to push the peg in. All the sacrilegious, bad violin playing aside... The best part for me is, "Don't you love it when you get more than you expect?" Here, our car! Like your car's so bad that you had to like... - Acknowledge that people don't expect anything from Suzuki... - ...acknowledge that...yeah! I mean, that... - At least they picked Pag 24, and not Summer, but I mean... - Yeah... She has better posture than most of them though. Yeah, nah, she has the best posture so—oh, actually... I think so, but then again, the camera's cutting so much. I hate this though. That's pretty bad, that's the... - The wrist is like... - Yeah. (Brett) And that violin looks dank as hell, man. - Yeah, four fine tuners, cheap varnish... - Yeah, that just...that just... Looks like an Amazon violin. (♪ When you say it with gratitude, thank you... ♪) Why is the backing track... - ...every instrument, apart from the violin? - Yeah...yeah, yeah! It's like, piano, drums... - And there's some...singing going... - Singing... - Just...not a violin. - Yeah. Ah, now the violin comes in, but it's like, MIDI violin. (Merci, a thoughtful collection of fine European chocolate) (in eight flavors to express one's heartfelt appreciation.) (If you want to say "Thank you", that is Merci.) "If you want the extra points for your kids to get A... ...in your music exam, get the Merci chocolate!" "Is your kid not practicing and they sound out of tune?" - "Don't worry!" - "Buy the A+ indirectly through chocolate!" I just think it's funny that the backing track had no violin. - Yeah! Like there's so many classical pieces you could use, - Yeah. And there's so many nice French composers! - Saint-Saëns, Debussy... - Yeah. Merci chocolate. - Dude, why is the bow so tight? - Yeah, and the kid looks sad, I mean... - Yeah, he looks...very sad. - He looks like, tortured, - he needs a shoulder rest, dude! He needs a shoulder rest! - Yeah! There's a trend, a lot of ads have been missing the shoulder rest. You don't not have shoulder rest, 'cause it hurts. - TX Umbrella. - Ooh! Oh my god. (TX Umbrella, performing nationwide.) I think that's gotta be the worst one. I think that topped it all. I'm cringing so hard! We can do a TikTok for this. - Get a bow and find some random s***... - Yeah...! - Just start bowing like, my glasses... - Yeah. - This is how we should've marketed TwoSet Apparel. - Yeah. "TwoSet Apparel!" I like the choice of music, that's the one positive thing. - I love how you're trying to find a positive... - Yeah. I didn't even listen to the music, I was just like, "It's so terrible." - Oi!!! - Finally! (The same car insurance company that made its name) (by offering minimum coverage,) (now proudly offers the option of a little bit more.) (Introducing Morenimum coverage from SafeAuto.) (More coverage, same great value.) (1800 SafeAuto.) (Minimum, or morenimum coverage, maximum savings.) That wasn't cringe. I don't mind it. - I was just so happy there's a real musician. - Yeah, I think in comparison, just... - Yeah... - ...finally, a real musician! Ah. Ahh! - Oh wow. Congratulations! - Wow! An ad that gets TwoSet approved, kind of, - I mean, in comparison to all the other ones, - Yeah. it is approved. - (Okay, see you tomorrow.) - (Okay.) (Have a good night.) Yeah. (Ever notice how things that are really well made,) (just seem to get better with time?) (The certified pre-owned Acura,) (a lasting tribute to precision engineering.) - It was okay. - Besides the rehearsal, besides the rehearsal ending, like it never ends like that, - you don't go, "Oh, let's go, see you tomorrow, yeah!" - "Yeah, nice work, nice work!" "See you tomorrow!" Never happens like that. It looked like they could play. I'm not sure how well they could play though, - because the editor didn't sync what they're playing to the music. - Yeah. I wanna watch it again, to cringe. - (Okay, see you tomorrow.) - (Okay.) - (Have a good night.) - "Okay!" "Okay, see you tomorrow! Goodnight!" There's no comment on the playing, it's like usually when you play, you go, "Alright, I think that sounded good." - Or, "I think we need to work on this." Um... - Yes. Even if it was the end of the rehearsal, it's like, - "Yeah, I think...we need to work on this, but let's call it a day." - Yeah. What was the point of playing through it, if you're not gonna comment on it afterwards? - Exactly. - You're not rehearsing. You're not rehearsing, normally it's like one person talking, instruments down, writing...marking stuff. - Yeah. - You don't go... "Yeah, nice!" - "Alright, see you tomorrow!" - Yeah, straight away! - Yeah! - Oh, that doesn't work. Okay. Have we... Have we seen this before? I don't remember it. (Seagram's Blenders Pride music.) - (Speaks for itself.) - That is so bad. It was all ruined, that one beautiful romantic climax, - with some stock image posture. - Yeah, it's like... "Hmm!" It comes in a box, the violin comes in a box. - Whatever city that is, I'm sure you can find a violinist. - Yes. Or get a violin teacher to train your actress, to act that two seconds out, in a way that doesn't look like complete sacrilege. Last one! (Andy Lau is about to break another world record!) (It's amazing, he did it!) - I don't even know what to say to that. - It's pretty... It's pretty like...obnoxious. - It's so random! - So random. (Brett) It's pretty funny though. He's playing piano and violin at the same time! Dude, that's funny, Imagine you can have four hands, so you could just... - ...accompany yourself. - Accompanist, yeah...! You guys can tell the violin's fake, I guess they're trying to make a point, the massage is so comfortable, it's like four hands. Yeah, and they're clearly just, you know, taking the piss. Alright, there you go! Did you cringe? For the new followers, now you know what violin's supposed to be like. Well, what it shouldn't be like. - What...what it shouldn't be represented as. - Mmm, mmm. On that note, we know a lot of you guys want this TwoSet varsity jacket, it's sold out, but don't worry, it's coming soon. Just put your name in the email in the website, and we'll email you guys soon. - Thank you, bye-bye. - Bye.
