You Blocked The Tow-Truck Driver's Driveway? | r/ProRevenge | #241

hey everybody rob from karma comment chameleon today going into the pro revenge archives block my driveway I'll go ahead and take your vehicles let's jump right in Friday night here in the country can get a little crazy sometimes so I don't mind when my neighbors cause a ruckus or loud party as long as it's not too crazy tonight I'm on call for Virginia State Police towing rotation which means I've got 25 minutes to get wherever the wreck or DUI or impound etc is as luck would have it my neighbors are having a party and guess what's blocking my driveway that's right about 25 to 30 cars I live down a dirt road at the end of a cul-de-sac and it's pretty narrow one in one out type of deal and with this rain we've been having parking in grass and clay and mud is really not the best idea even with a 4x4 it can still get tricky I noticed a few cars coming in early this evening and walked over to my neighbor's and made it pretty clear I was on call and as long as they didn't block the road or my driveway all would be good no problems here well I get a call from my boss asking if I can go warm up the rotator and the light-duty flatbed tow trucks it's about 12:30 a.m. so I get my boots on in other gear because if I'm up I might as well stay at the shop and clean a few things to stay busy and make the night move along I get in my car and as I'm backing out of the driveway I notice I'm blocked in I don't mean by one truck but by nearly 15 different vehicles I calmly walk over to my neighbors about 1/8 of a mile hike and as I'm looking for them through the crowd of drunk teenagers some idiot wants to know why I'm on his property he's not the property owner I've never seen this classy gentleman finally I find my neighbor and ask her if she can move the cars I've got to go to work she says in normal tone doesn't yell over the music into the house whoever is blocking the driveway next door move your trucks then slams the door in my face I knock again and she answers with a drunken oh god this again internally I'm thinking alright then I'll do my best to explain I am on call and need to get out of my driveway to go to work she comes back sloshing a natural light exclaiming it's a party relax shuts the door in my face and yells to that I smile and as I'm walking away macho man throws a beer at me and cackles yeah you best leave go on get I get on the phone with dispatch and call for as many trucks as we have available tonight about 10:00 and tell them to come on over Mama's got some peepee eyes private property impounds I call police dispatch and ask if they'd send out an officer in case things get out of hand and as soon as he gets to my place my rigs start rolling up and hooking vehicles up and taking them to the impound yard we get down to the last three vehicles a yellow civic gold Silverado and an old f-150 the Civic owner bolts to his car and takes off the Silverado girl pretty wasted gets stuck and starts tearing up my property officer walks over and she throws a fit long story short she gets arrested for underage drinking and DUI the Ford owner doesn't show up I get to work after all the impounds and with me I brought coffees and snacks for my drivers tomorrow's not a business day which means if these tools want their cars back it's going to be the regular 289 50 plus two days of storage at 55 a day and $100 gate fee I make a note in every single storage sheet papers that the vehicle owners get to thank the girl who had the party for getting towed several of the kids parents called wanting to know where their cars or trucks were I gave them the yard address and told them they can come anytime as soon as they started shouting about illegal tows and threatened with lawyers I showed them pictures of their cars with no parking signs and explained that I tried to reason with the owner of the property me but she was tired of being blocked in by drunken teenagers there are signs on my road saying no parking and not to block the driveway don't piss off a tow truck driver she'll legally take your vehicles this tow truck driver actually had a lot more incentive to get all of those vehicles towed out there because if it runs anything like the towing shop that I worked for for the past two years you get a commission for every single car you bring in that means that Opie made Bank on all of those cars blocking her driveway good on you Opie don't stiff a tow truck driver it's bad parenting not me but my brother a couple years ago he is a mechanic and tow truck operator in a small town a while back he gets a call for a job a guy wants to buy his son a used pickup truck but it's in another town and need some work the client says it's a lot of work apparently but it should be a fun dad and son project he hires my brother to pick it up my brother gets out there and it's in surprisingly good condition the big thing is the tires are shot he tows it to his shop calls the dad and explains he actually got a pretty good deal brother offers to install some new tires and do a little minor work and the truck should be ready to drive dad happily agrees and gives the work that go ahead two days later and the truck is running my brother takes it over to the house and leaves the bill on the seat five or six days go by with no word from dad so my brother calls in to ask how the trucks running great says dad so my brother asks about expecting payment dad says he'll be in first thing in the morning the next morning rolls around no dad same thing for a few more days my brother reaches him again and now gets a little run around with dad trying to say the trucks not running so well dad doesn't really know vehicles though so his bluff really isn't working my brother says he's willing to work on other problems or recommend other mechanics but he still needs payment for work already delivered at this point dad starts mumbling something about how he won't be scammed and hangs up dad ducks my brother's calls for a week so my brother calls the local police to explain what he's going to do then calls me to ask if I want to see something funny I say sure and he picks me up and takes me to this guy's house in the afternoon on a Friday the truck is parked on the street and has been driven recently a police car pulls up at which point my brother says hi to them then starts loading the truck onto his tow truck after a few minutes of beeping teenage son comes out of the house freaking out he's a brand new driver and thinks he parked wrong or something but my brother explains that his dad didn't pay son goes inside to call his dad my brother loops around the block for a better angle then backs the truck completely into their driveway he pulls out lifts the truck on jacks removes the tires then lowers the whole thing onto a couple two by fours then puts another bill on the windshield for the time he spent at the house we all then leave and my brother closes up his shop before hearing anything he doesn't hear anything until Wednesday next week and it's a call from mom apparently dad spent a few days lying to his family saying my brother was trying to scam them but eventually fessed up mom was fuming because her car was blocked in the garage the whole time by the truck she came down in person and paid my brother cash for everything plus more to come back and reinstall the tires the best part unfortunately I didn't get to see but mom a dad apologized to my brother in front of their son when he reinstalled the tires haven't we learnt yet not to get the tow truck driver pissed off Congrats to Opie's brother for reclaiming what was theirs in the first place at least he was nice enough to leave it on some wood blocks and not just leave it on ground lightning strikes first time poster this occurred in an auto body mechanic towing shop owner got a call about a tractor-trailer combo that tried to turn around in the school yard and busted the trailer hitch owner brought the trailer back to the shop and found the parts it was an old army hitch and finding the parts took two trips to town 40 miles away repairs took the best part of two days the company was based out of Colorado aka not-so-nice Western Lumber Company and when owner finished the repairs and called the Lumber Company boss who said just bill us and we'll send you a check two weeks later owner got a check for one half of the billing marked paid in full three years later in winter owner heard a bang out on the highway and a tractor trailer unit coasted to a stop in two owners parking lot the name on the door not-so-nice Western lumber out of Colorado the driver couldn't understand it the engine was running kinda but it wouldn't pull owner finally found out the crankshaft had broken right in a main bearing between three and four cylinder the front half was running but not the back the owner pulled tractor into the shop let the drivers stay there in the sleeper cab while the company sent out a mechanic young guy knew his stuff pulled the crank replaced it and all the bearing etc tractor was ready owner was - company was called and the lumber company boss said just Billis owner declined cash up front the bill was horrendous towing use of the shop for 13 days tools phone etc the lumber company boss asked if this had anything to do with the previous affair owner replied of course not lots of phone calls between the mechanic and lumber company boss the trailer by the way was parked out front with some two by eights under the dolly as the ground was wet and saw the mechanic laden with instructions and overloading his butt goes out to the tractor starts it up and runs it up under the trailer but in a hurry forgot to connect the air hoses and set the trailer brakes he hits the fifth wheel fast bumps the trailer off the two by eights and sinks the dolly in the soft ground owner parks our big tow truck crossways in front of his tractor that unit is not going anywhere owner locks the tow truck Pat's his 38 in his belt smiles at the mechanic and walks inside lots of phone calls occur cashier's check arrives karma is a [ __ ] I'm not understanding why the owner of this towing company and garage let them get away three years ago with only paying half the bill or maybe there's more to that story that we're just not hearing one thing that's nagging at me though and maybe you guys can set me straight down in the comments but when a trailers parked and it's not attached to the truck aren't the brakes on fully isn't that what the purpose of air brakes is if there's no air connected to the trailer the brakes are completely on and that trailer shouldn't be able to move correct me if I'm wrong I want to thank all of the Opie's
