Xbox Sent Me The BEST Upgrade!

what's going on guys it's your average consumer and we got a little something special from our good friends over at xbox as you can tell there's a headset inside of here so we've got our hands on the brand new xbox wireless headset so we're gonna do a quick unboxing and i'll give you guys my review of this new headset which only goes for a hundred bucks so that's pretty good direct competitor well not really competitor with the playstation one but sony has a 100 headset and now xbox does for the new console so let's open this thing up and since this is a special xbox unboxing it has a bus out the xbox hoodie that we got in a massive tech unboxing not too long ago it's a little bit on the big side but you know it's cool had to represent all right now this packaging is probably a little bit different than what you're going to see in the stores i don't know if we'll need an unboxing though so it looks like we got a card we got the headset what's this oh a headphone stand that oh ho ho look at that you guys so we've got this nice headset stand and it has my gamer tag your average consumer and it's got like the nice xbox logo this is dope okay xbox i see you okay so this is like officially my favorite headset stand ever let's see what's inside of this card let's see are there any codes i see some information about the headset sorry y'all no codes to give away all right we got a little bit of tape over here i'll use my little samurai blade love this thing all right here we go okay i like this oh the ear cut oh okay the ear cushions are nice and plush oh that's nice oh some pretty good sound isolation here passive sound uh isolation is really nice so first let's talk about what this is this is microsoft's new xbox wireless headset now this is going to of course work with the xbox series x as well as series s and also windows 10 this thing has bluetooth connectivity so you have some flexibility with this guy if you want to take it around outside of the xbox now these are a pair of over ear headphones so your ears are going to sit nicely inside of these ear cushions which i just tried out they feel really snug and they provide some really great isolation so i'm really impressed with that now we also have a mic over here now this is interesting so it's adjustable you can just kind of store it up by just pulling it up over there it doesn't attach to anything it just kind of sits there the cable seems to be very adjustable so it makes it really easy to just position it and can it come out no so this is the length of the cable this is the pairing button this little green button back here also on the mic you have your mute button you've also got a usb c port over here on the right ear cup uh actually those aren't all the controls one thing you might notice is that there are some dials on both ear cups so this is the right ear cup this controls the volume and then on the left ear cup this dial will control the game to party chat balance so if you want to hear more party chat you turn it one way you want to hear more game turn it the other way and these dial features are very reminiscent of the surface headphones we actually have one right here with this dial you can control the volume and on the other side the active noise cancelling to the ambient sound so you get those awesome controls on this headset and since it's microsoft it makes sense that they brought that technology over to the gaming headset world now i need to try it out with sound but just off the build quality microsoft did a great job here which is not surprising because they crush it when it comes to hardware oh but forget all this you guys bam tell me that's not beautiful okay so we'll keep that here for a second i'm sure there's something else in the box right it does come with a usb cable to charge it so usb c to type a now jay you know what time it is tell the people there you go my man knows all right you guys so we got our xbox on we got our headset over here now thankfully this can sync to the xbox without the use of any dongles nothing extra all we got to do is press this button i'm going to hold that down and then we do that i don't see any notifications popping up hold the power button oh all right cool there we go okay so we're going to wait for this headset to update and then we're going to jump into the settings app and kind of see what we can tweak because i know you can do some customizations to the sound uh before we jump into apex all right so we are updated let's bring this back so when you jump into the xbox accessories section when you go into the settings you can find your controller if you have one up there and of course the xbox wireless headset so let's configure what we can in here so the equalizer is set to game oh nice so you can really mess around with the equalizer settings here if you're really into audio you can customize this to the way you'd like bass boost oh tempting auto mute i'll go with low i like that i i like that it's a feature i've never used before so it'll require some testing this could be nice if you're in a party chat and you know you just want to have your headset accessible but if you're not ready to talk yet it'll keep it muted and when you are ready to talk it will just kick in so now let's jump into a game like apex legends all right let's go okay so so far just audio-wise sounds pretty good i'm really not mad at this audio quality right now there are certain headsets like there's a lot of headsets within this price range sometimes you get like this really thin audio and it's just it's like it's just audio just to have it this doesn't feel like that this actually sounds really high quality and we haven't even messed around with like any of the equalizer settings or anything like that and i am really really impressed now it's way it's way too early to say this is like an instacop but it's feeling like that so far but of course i have to spend a little bit more time with the headset playing games testing out some of the other features and after a few days i got some impressions so all right you guys a couple days later and i think i kind of get what this headset is all about and i'm not gonna lie to you guys i like it for 99 bucks this is a solid solid headset now design-wise i think it's a pretty good-looking headset it matches the aesthetic of the xbox series x really well with the colors even the little holes that it has over here matches the top of the xbox series x i think they did a really good job matching the look of the series x kudos to xbox for this one carl we didn't ask you what you thought about this design what do you think obviously the green touch on it especially the top of the xbox there you have it guys carl's review now one thing that's pretty interesting design wise is the mic so the mic is actually really short it's not gonna be in your line of sight but something that's interesting about it is that it does have this little uh light here for the mic to let you know when it's active i like that the mic isn't like in my face but i find myself kind of going like this every once in a while to kind of see the light to make sure it's on or off and this little mic is adjustable so when you're done using it you can just kind of tuck it away like this get it out of your sight completely now i also like the controls that you have access to here uh like we said before you can control your volume with the right ear cup so the no buttons to press is just a nice big dial you can control that very easily and on the other side your game to chat balance so you can do that and it has a nice little click when it goes into the middle so it's like perfectly balanced and if you want a little bit more you can go to the other side now when it comes to comfort i find these very comfortable i like a nice snug headset uh but i will say it's a little bit tight i'm not mad at it but i can see somebody potentially complaining about just it being a bit of a squeeze on the head but because it has nice soft ear cushions i don't think it's going to be that big of a problem to most people like i said i personally like a nice snug fit i will say though adjusting it while it's on your head takes a little bit more force to like pull it down now we know xbox made this to of course work with the xbox as well as windows 10 but what other features does it have that makes it stand out from all the other 100 headsets out there well one thing that this thing can do is of course the integration with the xboxes so you can pair these fairly easily uh for me honestly pairing it has been a bit of an interesting experience sometimes it takes really long for it to just sync up but you don't have to do too much you just you know kind of hold down the button you hold down both sync buttons on the headset as well as the system and then eventually it syncs but you can also put this thing into pairing mode because it is a bluetooth headset so you can go ahead and connect it to something like your smartphone now there's some pretty interesting stuff that happens when you pair it to your smartphone it actually can be connected to both your smartphone and your xbox at the same time so if you're playing a game and it's not like a competitive game where you really need to hear all the sounds you can actually play music right from your phone and hear it while you're playing whatever game you're playing i think that's really cool that you could just have whatever you want playing in the background while you're playing your game or maybe even if you're on the phone you can go ahead and have that phone conversation while you're playing your game and it's honestly not that surprising that xbox got this feature to work well because with the microsoft surface studio headphones it does an amazing job switching between devices honestly probably the best job i've seen going from one device to another just seamlessly the technology is already in their pockets so it's no surprise that it works really well here but one thing that does suck if you're trying to use it with a phone you guys saw the amount of controls that this has it doesn't have like a play and pause button or anything like that you're not going to be able to skip tracks pause anything you'll still need to pull out your phone to do that but you can at least still control the volume so you don't get access to all your controls but it's like an extra bonus now one thing that's cool is that you can jump into the accessories app and mess around with those settings that we talked about before this thing has a bass boost not up to just like plus five it can go all the way to plus 12 you guys so if you're a big fan of bass you can add quite a lot of it here i personally like it at like a six with the game preset that's great for me playing something like apex i like that flexibility something you don't really see with other gaming headsets especially in this price range and the headset does offer mic monitoring but let me save you guys the trouble if you want to use that feature just have it on high now another feature that i found while using the headset for the last few days is that when you power this thing on without the xbox being on it automatically powers on the xbox as well now if you're just trying to use it with your phone maybe that's not such a cool feature uh but it is an xbox headset first so i think that's pretty cool you want to go ahead and start playing you can just go ahead grab your headset press the power button your xbox is turning on you grab your controller i like that now you guys saw my very first impressions when i just unboxed it i really like the audio that you get out of these now you gotta keep in mind this is a hundred bucks sometimes when you get like a hundred dollar headset the audio could be a bit thin you can hear everything just fine it passes but this one the audio just feels a lot fuller the amount of bass that you're able to get out of these is actually really really surprising i especially like that kind of flexibility when trying to listen to something on my smartphone so having the extra bass so that songs can feel a bit fuller it really allows us to be a pretty versatile headset and since microsoft has been doing the headphone thing for a couple of years now it's not too surprising that they're able to produce some good sound here but the fact that they're able to do it at this price point is what makes this headset a winner now when it comes to battery life we're looking at about 15 hours of usage which i think is pretty good not the best in the world but it's not bad either but that does vary if you have it connected to something like your smartphone at the same time that is of course going to impact the amount of hours that you get but if the headphone dies on you it does have like a bit of a quick charge feature where if you charge it for 30 minutes you get four hours of battery life back and in three hours i think it gives you like a full charge now as you can tell i really like this headset now that doesn't mean everything is perfect about it like i said syncing it up with the xbox i don't think is the smoothest experience to be completely honest with you guys uh it does take it took me a couple tries i'm not gonna lie to you don't know what that's about i also did experience a disconnect here and there nothing alarming just yet but it was weird when it happened now the question is do i recommend this should you shell out your 100 bucks to pick up this headset i absolutely think you should usually first party headsets i'm not super crazy about they're always like okay they're fine but i think xbox did a really really good job with this and that is of course thanks to them working on headphones for the past couple of years at 100 bucks this is probably going to be one of the easiest headsets to recommend for the xbox uh it just offers quite a lot considering its price but that about wraps it up for this video guys i like this a lot and i think it's going to
