WSL2 made me the SLOWEST Software Developer in the world! I didn’t know.

Yar install takes forever complete under the window sub system for liux or W USL this is how long it took me a last time run yarn installed on Backstage backstage is a developer portal developed by Spotify and it is written types script but I fixed that and made W out and yarn almost as fast as running native I'll tell you all about it in a moment first let me tell you that whether yarn nor no has anything to do with the fact that developing on WSL was extremely slow for me and it might happen to you as well right now without even you realizing it I found this on GitHub which says that note chairs and npm are very slow on W the post mentions that I should add the name server 8.8.8.8 to the resolve docon file well that helped not another GitHub issue got my attention it discusses resource limits for WSL I was immediately thinking of WSL as an emulator or virtualization software but it's clearly not however WSL clearly gets resources assigned which apparently can be increased another article that I found says that W scal gets only 50% of the total memory or a gig we want more I increased the value to 12 GB and ran yarn install again after I cloned the repository again to have the same visce the performance slightly improved which is great but not great enough so it's still bad what is happening I couldn't understand why someone would want to develop on WSL from such a bad developer experience but I gave it one more shot I did more research on this topic and I found this post why is WSL extremely slow when compared with Native window npm processor WSL uses the 9p protocol to access Windows drives and it's currently known to be very slow it also says that I should flow the repository under the WSL rout and not under a Windows mounted drive as I apparently have done so far well I don't know about the 9d protocol but I give it a shot yarn star now took only a few minutes so now we know WSL is fast not under all circumstance SES that's all from me for today thanks for watching
