today I have this 2024 Chevy Silverado High Country and in this video let's discuss it yeah that's what we're doing here so hey it's Tim pickup truck plus SUV talk you follow the channel last year I owned one of these and I had it in a 3 l diesel so I thought this time let's talk about the 6.2 L gas the other option in the High Country trim would you buy the 6.2 L over the 3 l diesel H choices choices I'm in Texas I figured the best place to film this was El buckos bies and I tried to wash it but uh yeah bugs so this is Lake Shore blue it is the High Country trim I'll come over here the front's a little uh got a little Texas varmints on the front um but yeah we have that chrome grill there and body color matched on the rear bumper I have Lake Shore blue here exterior 6.2 L V8 on the badge the High Country trim right and we have retractable running boards now this has quite a few packages including super cruise and the 22 22-in aluminum wheels and a couple more details we'll talk about inside the cabin we'll go for a drive as well we'll tell you about those details too so this is what you get for a short bed Silverado High Country I have the standard tailgate in this I don't have the multilex tailgate but it works just as well so open that up we have the spray and bed liner I have a lot of tie downs as you find in Chevrolet vehicles and I have lots of Lights I have some power here I have 40 120 volt 400 W hookup there and we should have should go up automatically voila I have my dual chrome exhaust I have my bumper step as GM's bumper Stu now you may be thinking well Forge got that too well Forge is built into the bumper into the frame actually and GM is built on a bumper that's just a little key detail yeah there you go this does have adaptive Ride Control on it and uh yeah let's go and check that sticker out cuz mine retailed for $67,000 but I couldn't get all the options because of well part shortages this one has not that problem it's got everything so we have this nice kind of blue interior it really stands out I I I do like it mine was more of a black but this is the jet black night shift interior 6.2 L EOTech V V8 10speed automatic transmission this does have super Cruise which you can see with a High Country premium package well I guess we'll go through that excuse me High Country premium package is $79,000 which gives a power sun roof 22in painted Wheels all seats and tires a rear camera mirror which is right up in there if you haven't seen that before we have the 15-in digital heads up display power tractable assist steps right there we have a helicopter right there somewhere there he goes yeah thank you interrupting my video uh we have the Adaptive R control uh we have super Cruise requires active subscription that's all part of that $7,000 package we have the engine is $2,200 which is interesting for people the diesel is actually the stock engine in the High Country suspension pack the Adaptive ride control wheel locks and then our total price with all the options is $77,000 or5 we have $1,000 for or $2,000 destination we get $1,000 off so we have $78,000 as our price it actually starts at 66,800 mine was right around 67 cuz I couldn't get some of these options when I ordered it let's go and hop in the cabin or gently get in or you know uh running boards for guys short like guys like me they're perfect okay so inside the cabin go shut the door that's the one thing about Chevy trucks and GMC they seal their doors in such a way that it gets really quiet in here really quiet okay we'll go ahead and fire this up we have the push start so I have this screen here right uh we have super Cru kind of pops on you'll see some flashing lights here reading my eyeballs you'll see it called Green here Green's on Blue it's ready to go blank you got nothing there's our controls there for our Dash and I reset the dash in tripometer so I've been driving around I have 330 331 M on it 21 MP gallon a lot of that's been a mix of Highway and City so I think it's pretty good for the 6.2 L I'll turn down this um cooling all the way down so I have cooled seats I have heated seats I have uh heated steering wheel Trail control brake I have your different modes auto start stop we have the parking we have the T down which is actually a pretty useful button I didn't think it was but it turns out it is traction control all the windows down and the lane keep assist buttons this is your Google um operating system um it's a excuse me it's uh Android car auto I don't know what they call this stuff these days but yeah there's your cameras it's nice with these trucks now even as big as they've gotten you can still see around you really well with all the different camera views and we have parking sensors up front which means I don't hate anything so that's the the hitch and then this is the digital re Mir you turn it on as regular mirror or digital there we have some controls here for the sunroof we have a sunroof in there and we have the little sunroof back there now I have the seats folded up because I got a bunch of gear with me this trip uh we have High Country EMB bolstered there the wood paneling the kind of and then this is a double glove box button right here pops it open and glove box down below uh we have some storage here and then here we have the cup holders nice spot here I actually really when I had my truck I really enjoyed all of this storage baste nothing felt like as overwhelming the shifter I do like the shifter it's small it's compact it doesn't get in the way of anything I just like the overall layout cups fit fine and then I have a couple more cup holders here and here we go I have a good storage bin in here a regular household plug which is nice for laptops and things when I'm traveling to charge it up as if I pull over to do any work and then that goes there this is the wireless charger now there was a lot of debate with this wireless charger people tell me online like it doesn't work with mine or it works with mine or whatever about here's the deal it's based on your case so my this is a new iPhone 15 I have a new case and this phone does not use wireless charger won't work with it it doesn't work with the wireless chargers I have home either it's the case not the charger often so in my case my other phone worked fine with that and actually what's nice with GM's Vehicles is they they actually have a vent down here that cools this heating this charging pad so you don't overheat some Brands you put your phone in there your phone gets really hot I know that because mine did not come with it with one of those wireless chargers I got one from a part supplier and I installed it myself and I found hey this cooling tube so I know it's there cuz well damn it I saw it so let me uh let me go a and mount the camera and we'll go for a drive and tell you more about this 2024 Chevy Sado 1500 High Country with a 6.2 L V8 gas and whether or not I would still buy it or I'd buy the gas diesel over the gas mhm hold on before we go I forgot to show off my f sticker I love gentle Motors does this I just wish it's a little bit more this way keep going this way so you can see read it better but this sticker is Vin specific it has your VIN talks about trailing information so we know my curb weight I know my Max payload is, 1487 lb my trailer is 9,200 lb conventional trailer if had a goose neck hookup 8,300 lb goose neck and then we can see our tire sizes and we can see our gross vehicle weight rating gross axle weight rating so I love this sticker it just makes it a lot simpler when you're out there Towing to know what your limits are how far how much you can tow and what your safe range for towing is without being overloaded and causing any sort of weird uh experiences yeah like swing and stopping harshly and squatting and all kinds of things going on okay let's talk about this while I'm on the highway here and taking a drive so let's talk about the first things the gas engine versus the diesel engine it comes up a lot in the comments and for good reason right so remember if you watch those videos I really enjoyed my 3 l durmax diesel I thought it had a great power delivery I towed with it and I got exceptional fi economy like in the 30s Fiel economy in that truck and a full size truck for out loud this one the 62 I feel like it's got pretty similar torque and horsepower numbers from a daily driving standpoint that the CER diesel has um I do feel like there's a little bit more delay with the turbos in this versus the diesel but again that's just my memory of my truck I really liked and this gasoline engine now I didn't love the fact with that diesel that I used excessive oil and excessive def usage when I was Towing quite a bit N I wasn't a big fan of that so this I don't have those concerns I don't have to worry about the changing price of the diesel or getting nasty pumps sometimes you go to some gas stations that have the pumps aren't always the cleanest in this case I don't have those concerns so I still like the diesel but I understand a lot of customers hesitation towards it because you have again you have to put deaf in if you're towing a lot that diesel has a known excessive oil usage uh technical service Bolton on it because it does use it and I know people don't always love the smelly diesel at the gas pumps what do you do there you know this that and the other I think your price difference if I remember online was like $1,000 or two between the two engines so something you to decide as you wish okay let's talk about on the road F this one has adaptive ride control mine didn't um I hope I get my marketing ter terminology down correctly um I I don't know that I can tell you a huge difference I'm on smooth roads here in Texas I'm sure if I was on a more rough section of Roads it'd be a bigger difference but for my case I think Chevys have always D driven really well I don't feel like they've riding really well I feel like it's a very comfortable ride with an independent front suspension really does make a difference and I can't tell any difference there at all so I can't tell you buy one or the other if your truck happens to come with an option and deal a lot or you want to order that way I think you'll be satisfied either way it's not too much more of an upcharge if I remember the sticker correctly um this one does have super cruise I've been using it quite a bit and different scenario actually drove up from San Antonio to Dallas which is like four hours of two lane to one lanee the big city the big small City just that was a drive and so um I used it I I like it on highways on that two-lane roads and things it didn't always pick up the lane lines right and they do an interesting thing in Texas where they have a they have a passing Lane but it's on the right hand side it's the left hand side so you kind of go over to the right and people pass on the left uh super Cru did not know how to handle that trust me I was fighting a little bit so I superc crew is one of those technologies that it's it's up to you I mean there's people that really love it they love technology love those things um long road trips I think it makes sense and what I like about super creu more than just driving like this is it does work when you're towing and I think Towing is where you really get a lot of driver fatigue and this works uh it does do automatic Lane change move Lanes around for me I'm going to turn it on right now and so I can wow that was a little loud in the clap but um it'll look and it'll change lanes for me and it it it's it's it's nice I mean you wake up not wake up but you get to get your destination you're not as fatigued um now overall right so what are my overall thoughts in Sado would I buy it again if you recall the issues I have that severado were a couple things I didn't love again the oil usage and the the diesel I didn't like the that was that was kind of concern de usage Towing was a concern so if you get the gas you take away those things Super Crew change lanes now it's disengaging and now it's unavailable um I super Cru super Cruise uh so I I didn't like that aspect of it but again you go gasoline engine no problem there I didn't like the seat Comfort over a long period of time these seats aren't any better so those are still my kind of complaints I did notice that the 2025 Tahoe and Silverado Suburban have new seats and I'm really interested in checking those things out um that was only my really complaint with shy seats overall is that there aren't they aren't always the most comfortable seats on the market yeah that's what I'm say with that so what I buy again hell yeah I'd buy it again I thought it was a great truck I enjoyed it I enjoyed the layout I enjoy the screen I like the screen not being higher than a dash that bothers me in some trucks I like the little little cubby hole behind the screen if you have a if youve seen the Chevy interior you might have noticed that it's a great spot for sunglasses great spot for things I like the storage I like the shifters I like the smooth drive I just there's a lot of things I like about Chevy trucks and this Sado especially so I would buy it again I I would buy the diesel again if I could put my big oil pen on there like I did last time or if they adjusted those um issues with the oil and deaf usage but I I think you know it's hard to beat a Chevy Sado um I just think they have a really good looking truck really good powertrains uh the 10p speed's been smooth I've had no concerns with that at all never been hunt hunting for years and again very comfortable Drive yeah there you go there's my thoughts and this 2024
