WORLD'S ONLY SKI IN SKI OUT TREEHOUSE

welcome to beautiful whitefish montana i'm going to give you a full tour of the world's only ski inn ski out tree house it is so cold dancing warm myself up on the legs for nate's 32nd birthday the only thing he wants is to ski his first black diamond here we go [Music] here's karen nate after spending four years traveling the world and documenting our journey to 100 countries 2020 brought us back to the us where we bought a converted sprinter van to explore all 50 states after a magical few days in yellowstone we made this seven hour drive north to our 26th state of montana where we're making the most of the last remaining weeks of winter oh gosh i thought it was good [Music] so about a month ago nate surprised me for my birthday with a castle and a long weekend with my sister nate doesn't like surprises so his birthday was planned well in advance for his 32nd birthday he wanted to learn how to ski kind of like surfing skiing is one of those things that he wants to learn because he feels like it's something that he can enjoy for the rest of his life if we're being completely honest i was not looking forward to this trip so a few days ago we met up with nate's brother and sister and their significant others to attempt to learn how to ski i can't believe we're all here this is the best we made it so much we're here at this point we've been here for three days and i honestly cannot believe how well everything is going everything about this trip so far has exceeded my expectations especially after how the first day went we realized we're a lot further up the hill than where our lesson starts so uh this should be fun let's do it oh we all about died just trying to ski a very short ways to our ski lessons here we go good work everybody i'm exhausted already i was looking all right we made it to our lessons we're only 33 minutes late the lessons we took on the first day made a night and day difference what are these called slope longest run i've ever done and my first blue the view from up here is insane okay we just came down there so much better in one day and over the last three days we have progressed from barely being able to stand up on our skis [Music] that's just defeat that's not injury [Music] to cruising down most of the blue slips on the mountain that was epic i seriously cannot believe that that is me it's crazy wow okay two things one the reason nate sounds so weird it's because he was skiing with this gopro mount in his mouth and two these mountains were a lot bigger in real life okay all right back to the vlog [Music] today's lady's birthday thanks i had my cranes for the day we have all progressed way more than we thought we would on this trip especially me i'm more surprised than anyone so for nate's 32nd birthday the only thing he wants is to ski his first black diamond if you've never been skiing before runs are ranked from easiest to hardest using colors and shapes the easiest rounds are green circle the more difficult runs are blue squares and the most difficult are marked by black diamonds they're for the big dogs i don't think i'm a big dog yet to get your little tail [Music] we have fresh snow a full beaver outfit and it is the day of my 32nd birthday to attempt my first black diamond couldn't ask for better conditions all right here we go outside road i did not pressure anyone else to do this with me and the two willing volunteers were dusty oh yeah and no way what's gotten into me i'm feeling good here goes nothing what could go wrong come on nate there he goes no problem all right they not pizza night this is so crazy i think what's happening right now is the definition of dumping we got seven inches last night and we're supposed to be getting another three to five tonight wow i don't know how it gets any better than this i feel bad saying that because i know my family's gonna watch this video and they just left but look at this all right we're moving out of this chalet right here and into that treehouse treehouse chairlift treehouse what in the world this is so epic this is truly our first day skiing real snow today we're skiing last week we were sliding down ice and we upgraded our skis to performance we're not beginners anymore we're on the back side of the mountain nobody comes back here and there's just so much powder holy moly look at this snow making fresh tracks now my favorite run that's the most snow we've ever skied my skis are like sinking we're the only ones in sight this is awesome they have boot warmers mastered how to do this gracefully wow oh it's beautiful all i need is a glass of wine i don't think it gets any better than going from the slopes to a hot tub in under two minutes i literally had my clothes halfway on in the door just to uh just to help you appreciate how close we are to the slopes hot tub ski lift no back inside [Music] all right now that i'm nice and warm and dry i'm going to give you a full tour of the world's only ski inn ski out tree house it is two and a half levels the bottom level being the biggest the most important feature of the living room is definitely this fireplace i cannot tell you how magical the feeling is to be frozen solid for seven hours straight and then walk into a warm toasty treehouse and this is the kitchen we have this giant beautiful island that doubles as a kitchen table and everything we could ever want in a kitchen it is completely stocked with a vitamix four burner stove huge coffee pot a dishwasher and it's all just nice i think when you've stayed in as many airbnbs as we have you realize that a lot of people end up skimping on the details but in both the chalet that we stayed in and this tree house they've done it right look they even have this like framed screen thing that has the temperature outside and the time and the host contact number services oh like if you wanted to book like a tour or massage never seen something like this whoops whoops behind these farm doors is the master bedroom this place actually sleeps six people so while it's not very big they've done a really good job using the space efficiently because during the day we can leave these barn doors open and it feels a lot bigger in here but at night we can still close them and have some privacy and those details i was talking about this bed is memory foam and it is so comfy i love our new bed in the van but this one's hard to beat i'm gonna fall asleep if i lay there too long this is the master bathroom and it has everything we need it's very pretty and nice but it's a bathroom this dryer though is a game changer when you're living on the slopes when we come in midday for lunch we can take off our cold wet gloves buff hats socks put them in here while we're eating and then we're nice and warm and dry to go back out it is the best feeling and once again the entryway is so convenient and well designed with the baskets and the hooks and the carpet and even the little detail of this bench to sit on while you take your boots off it's great and up this spiral staircase is bedroom number two if we were here with friends or family we would stick the rest of them up here there's a queen bed and some bunk beds but you're really not roughing it if you're in this room because look at the view you get to wake up to should we sleep up here instead once again details every bed comes with a heated blanket and this is the second bathroom it's just a bathroom and last but not least this ladder leads you to the second and a half floor which is probably the most unique part of the tree house we're in the turret this is just a round room with a bean bag and beautiful views of the slopes feel like i could literally open this window and give someone a high five on the ski lift and what's really cool is this part of the slope has like jumps and rails so you could watch people do tricks from up here or you just lay down and watch the stars start twinkling all right that about does it for the tour from being completely honest we probably won't be awake long enough to fully enjoy this place after five days of skiing i'm gonna be doing good to hold my eyes open until it gets dark outside before probably have some dinner get back in the hot tub pass out wake up and do it all over again tomorrow but at the same time i wouldn't have it any other way i love this feeling of being so exhausted from doing something fun that i just can't hold my eyes open it kind of reminds me of the bike trip for you should we take a nap and then try to stay up later there's no way we're waking up if we don't sleep the sky is so crazy [Music] i'm so tired i hate to break it to you i'm not sure how life gets any better than this we may have peaked [Applause] [Music] [Laughter] so [Music] have fun without a doubt the best part about this treehouse is that you are literally 10 feet away from the ski slopes you just take the snow so there's no bundling up then getting in a hot car you just walk out the door take a few steps clip into your skis and you're ready to go karen said she wanted to finish her coffee and the lifts are open so i thought i'd sneak an extra run in this morning here he comes morning enjoy your coffee five days of skiing has really caught up with me feeling sleepy today nate on the other hand is like a little kid when it comes to snow he has so much energy it's really cute this is about to be the best run of the day look at this this is crazy powder practically untouched i can't believe we're the only ones on this run there are so many people today it's crazy but they just opened this one we're gonna make some fresh tracks let's go holy cow it was completely silent day one this would have been like sliding down the ice whoa but did i look as cool as i felt oh yes all right it's official i'm ready to quit youtube buy my yearly pass and be a ski bump for the rest of my life it's been real i'm not sure i will be happier at any other moment than i was being like oh my gosh i can do this i can do this we're trying a t-bar for the first time no pressure barrett [Applause] okay i'm gonna go around there one
