[Applause] i think the only issue is the only issue is the price which we're going to turn the camera off because we never show price on camera that's great [Music] [Music] do [Applause] [Music] [Applause] um [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] how are you i just came up to that truck driver going hey do you know dennis hey do you know dennis this is sean pettiford hey sean good to meet you zach gorgas on the camera exactly all right we'll follow you he came to me just because we might get stuck in his cul-de-sac you won't in that car you can drive over there if you want it it is two and a half blocks by this point it's another block beyond that this was that way yeah well let's all jump in there and let's go tell us what you know so uh what i have for you today is a 63 studebaker r2 and a 69 jeep commando um i've owned them seven years i bought them uh during a different change in life okay and uh you know i bought my dream cars i bought my dream cars when i could but i did not buy them finished so they kind of look like projects yeah i mean they're clean they're great starting points um where did you find the jeepster the jeepster came from fresno i drove it home 105 miles slowly uh carefully yeah not really slowly at top speed probably yeah because it's this is a low geared vehicle yep so this has got the this is not your standard commuter but to the right guy this is a badass truck you know it's best feature is this verand probably because it looks like a talkatoy this car this truck is 10 times cooler with its top off yeah i agree it's a turtle with it on it looks like but with the top off it's a 225 d6 it's a buick darkness motor with with the top off you've got the toggle toy from your youth low bars already there it's got a black interior yeah somebody's got a lift kit on it yeah so it's i think there's this is like a dennis special basically you can sell it after it's a little bit dolled up and let them improve it with your parts or you can just dull it up it's not rusty i mean it's gonna it will attract it's got a lot of eyeballs so you can over price it and let it sit there and attract attention to everything else you're doing over price it we can't do that you can overprice it temporarily oh yeah when was the last time it rained and drove uh probably a good year ago okay you know i didn't put any effort into like trying to make it test drive right because you know it will but it's it's it needs a tlc well it's not rusty it's soft that's and that's what i was trying to tell you over the over the phone is my ask is very very reasonable for the two products that i have i think this one makes all some or most of the money that you'll need to put into the other one for the home run so here's my question from the original are we talking about taking both these cars home like this try and put the other one trying okay that's 32 feet i just walked it right here and we got 43. we got to walk the whole deck again yeah the big fight is the the bits is what we're calling it now because we're not sure what it is again if we can get that up on the ramps that helps us but that since the tires are locked up i don't know ways i hadn't bought them yet but well i'm just forecasting this just letting you know so you bought the studebaker except from i brought i bought the studebaker online from somebody who scored it from the original who bought it for the original okay and i have a title that shows that stuff um michigan title what year is the title uh 63 title is it uh i believe it might be actually yeah and i have the original key to this card as well so the r2 you can see it's got the lazy s the crest in the hood this actually rolls the into the gauges fiberglass body car what makes it lazy just because it's laying there they call it lazy s because it's relaxed it appears three times on the car on the pillars supercharged badges on the quarters oh cool yeah well look at this this is of course yeah that tells you r2 too you did have some really good paperwork that you sent me um it's very interesting can you grab that yeah i have it available okay there's a full set of factory rims you don't have to deal with just jeep rims on the rear i saw that so um there's a spare in the trunk so i have four i do not have five okay to be clear okay also uh the nose suffers from surface rust i have a spare that could go to a different enthusiast because i know it's got some dimples also okay trunk rubber original floor mats that was really cool official for that inside the car has nos uh tuxedo floor coverings slash carpet which i understand are not reproduced anymore they're gonna have the same time going set back and in this box i have body mounts anything i could get new nos i got including a pair of mirrors eraser style which would be long an extra set of front turns indicators and a full set of patches oh wow i don't know the goal yeah yep but you're gonna see in a minute sean it's got a packaging supercharger on it yeah what was the last year for a studio well it's debatable but the ones that actually studebaker made was 64 but then the company was picked back up later on that's cool stuff yeah do you find the stuff in california no it's just all over the internet all over the internet you know because i had a feeling it was gonna be difficult so i set myself to it and let me get that paperwork for you look at this new keys yeah sweet uncut so this could be a really significant car he's got some really neat paperwork that he scanned and sent to me i didn't get to see it really really close but we'll hear what he's come up with on the paperwork the paperwork that i send you shots on is the build sheet and where it was redacted when it was resold here's the first version public relations is why i believe the story i was told about possibly one of the two new york city auto so what the original owner had told the next owner was that this was one of two of the new york auto show cars now my initial thought was the serial number was too far out at 1 436 to be that but i'm not a studebaker avanti expert but going back to look this car was built in 62. yeah so as most of them were built in 62 and they didn't start distributing them out until until the 63-64 range just especially the r2s the supercharged cars sure so when you got tagged public relations it is possible it was a new york auto show car but it certainly was one of the cars that probably toured around for you know that the dealers to either look at or order off of or test drive or a manufacturing car so there's something special about it and then when you see when it was actually sold it's neat that you were able to get this from the studebaker museum it was actually sold they redacted all this information and showed who the first lane holder was and who the buyer was but it was sold pretty quick it was sold at 11 29. the title and built 1010. unfortunately the title is june 67 but it is an early title early in the car's history yeah it really is it's way it's the second order and there are as we talked about there's like seventy four thousand miles on this right see it was this car was a used car it wasn't the car this car was driven a lot yeah it really was and frugally if they they ran on tire that of that poor quality cars the tires on the car on this patch so this car's got it fantastic so avani gold which is what the show cars were and historically when a show car travels around that's what people order out of the 1550-ish supercharged cars 504 speeds but also over 500 of them were that color so that that is the most common color okay um but which is i want ironic because i actually found a second four-speed car in this geographical area is it supercharged as well it's not unfortunately but it was a four-speed car in gold that's unusual even for i mean the four-speed cars are all rare very even for an r1 yeah though it's neat you can see the four speed here power steering hill holder which is emergency brake heavy duty springs which the heavy duty springs on these this frame was a studebaker lark convertible frame oh i see because they were stronger yeah so the convertible frames always had to have more structural rigidity especially since we're gonna supercharge it and then when you had the heavy-duty springs that were ordered like this those actually came off their station wagons oh cool so they used everything they had but twin trucks yeah engineer it inexpensively to them off stuff stuff they already have for the extra horsepower so then you know you hear paws attraction all the time or sure grip for pontiac or whatever twin traction is what they call it so there's a positive track we're in what is awesome in this thing is it's a dana 44. so dana 44 positive track and not in the four-speed not only was a four-speed t10 four-speed so this car i'll get it yes fast car it means it's worth fixing really good option well let's see the uh yeah let's see the boat yeah let's see unless you know how to operate the hinges on this hood okay there's there's a prop arm here right okay somebody didn't understand that that's a pivot that's a break point also so we're gonna lift the the hood off and put it on yeah well this is a typical what they use on corvettes as well i have this hinge sitting in the back seat somebody snapped it off because they weren't patient enough to understand how this mechanism works that is pretty shoehorned in there so yeah when was the last time this ran it ran in 2016. okay but only briefly because that was the period where it was taken out of the garage in michigan after set uh setting up since 80. they revived it to sell it as a driver i was at the right place at the right time i was like yeah yeah that's worth the money i want that for sure because it seemed like you know an approachable project it has a project it hasn't been a part yeah this is gonna be a very expensive restoration but at least it's there it's all there so you know nobody's messed around with it like your other so you've got power steering power brakes and you've got your ignition shielding very similar to a corvette and of course where the money is on this is it's supercharged and uh it also has electrical electric windows so back in the day they were in 62 they were already tested he was passing superchargers which was before or maybe when carroll shelby was starting to play with them but guess where all the superchargers went they all went to the stu baker bodies oh because of a prearranged agreement or you know who owned paxton no student maker okay so you didn't know that no i didn't know okay so so obviously they got all the superchargers yeah so the main production or all they could produce and the superchargers went to these cars so this is a 289 with 289 horsepower firefighter glass bike all the fiberglass body yep so with this uh rear view mirror i'm going that was just for regulations you're not going to see much of that no you're not it is factory though interesting yeah it appeared on both cars if you look inside here this is a power window car too which is really nice these controls right here which are really the interior of these cars are amazing but these controls right here are like an airplane for the ailerons so this is this this is designed by the aircraft engineer checking out a really fast car back in the day faster than the corvettes it's kind of crisp on the inside it's not bad the original headliner sitting in the back dome it had faded like the rear is now not sure okay so steering didn't lock do you have the actual original key uh yeah it's right here on paper okay pretty cool and that meat gauges are amazing but this is a significant car in the history of american sports cars we'll tell you more about that later so first shifter yeah t10 four-speed [Applause] so as far as powertrain combination in 1962 this was killer crumbly crown what'd you call it yeah i would say so cream of the crop [Applause] i think the issue is it's borderline whether it could be uh [Applause] restored or survivor i guess it's got to be restored but black was also the most common color interior black with the uh i believe that was called elk this looks like survivor almost looks like survivor quality it's got one respray so yeah but the cool thing is it's never been a part it's gonna have to become a part to get it right i think so yeah that's why i was going through the survivor part got this bodyguard attacking really cool just do all the mechanical first because it's got really cool survivor features like like this is intact it's damaged but it's never been replaced and yeah that is yeah it's no it's never been hit and it's got this uh stainless steel wire grille if you look at others with these i don't know how many others have it i agree they call it the chin grill right yes yeah the chin girl's usually missing uh i would agree with you and it's super straight too well it's fiberglass it ought to be no not the gorillas oh gosh the rest of it yeah we need to get this thing out of the sun i think the only issue is the only issue is the price which we're going to turn the camera off because we never show price on camera that's great but you know [Music] all right we struck a deal that took a little bit longer than normal sean was over there yawning so bought them both thank you yup absolutely now you know the good news or the bad news i'll take both okay we got to leave this here [Applause] okay but we will come pick it up within the next three years though our transport rates we've gotten out of this area we're outrageous yes we can actually get a car to europe cheaper than we can to get one from here to dallas i'm sorry to hear that it's brutal it is brutal thank you for doing it though yeah there you go so i could take the titles but leave this here yes of course all right once it's paid that's all all right well i'm going to pay you now so we've got one other neat thing he just showed me which is really really cool it kind of sweetened the deal a little bit by the way it's a very very very good salesman and i do get the clocks right yeah you do okay so this black and gold california tag which should be correct for a 63 right that's correct was actually on a gold 63 avanti registered in california how cool is that so that goes with it and then do you do you mind carrying the box up yeah yeah okay we were having a hard time going back with numbers he insisted on selling both of them this is a rust tree it's a great commando i really just wanted the ivany but we bought them both but wait till you see what he brings out to sweep the deal okay pretty cool this really sucks we can crawl on both ends got a really good salesman well we could try there's no way well here's what i was thinking sean we just leave the gate open and just take the ramp off we haven't gotten pulled over yet dude why are you trying to this is pretty cool yeah i thought she appreciated that so i'm just gonna put my favorites out okay good these jaeger clocks for a car very very nice accessory really cool as you can see they're made in switzerland two of them and then moto meters which in the early days in the late teens now this is a nickel top as opposed to a brass top so this would have been late teens for moto meter you screw this on top of your radiator and then if you want to know what your temperature was boom i showed you the temperature and the way you could tell on these about what year they are see it says boyce moto meter is you look at the patents on them and the patent on this one right here this patent right here ran out in 1918 13 to 18. but anyways these are these are nickels so they're going to be towards the tail end which means they're going to be later than 13. so these were probably on 1915 and 1918 cars neat stuff there's three of them [Music] and then this is really neat [Applause] a waltham car clock and it's not locked up you can actually turn the mechanism see it move and the spring action on the adjust is still working so some really cool stuff and that went in an american car then too right since that's american manufacturer yes hopefully we can get some of our money back some really cool trinket stuff that goes with it lots of incredible paperwork on the studebaker i'm going to get him paid and i'm going to start loading and then i'm gonna tell you a few more things about studebaker awesome now that the deal's done paperwork's in the trunk it's in my bag this is why i'm so excited about that card i just had to have it listen to this here's why i really wanted this car and well i think it's incredibly special not only did you hit on me the new york auto show car but it's certainly a type of relations car i don't have any more information than you have so i don't have an ace in the hole this yes this was that car but here's how special the 62 supercharger bodies were they were the world's fastest sports car produced period they sent 29 worlds records in bonneville this car right here with this exact engine combo this transmission and that dana 44 rear and gear ratio exactly like it says ran 168 miles an hour bone stock in bonneville get out of here 29 stock records and one of the runs that andy grant utility made because at bonneville you average out so that was 160 mile an hour average speed it also did the flying mile at 168 miles an hour which back then was insanely fast we're not we're talking a stock car yeah because this doesn't even look like a sports car but one of his well it is a sports car so this was touted by studebaker as america most his most advanced car it should have been touted as the world's fastest sports car the reason they didn't do it is all the testing for ferrari and maserati and everybody else hadn't come in they could have called it america's fastest sports car because it was in fact faster than a 62 corvette and the 63 corvette but what was when andy granatelli was running these runs as you know you average back and forth he had a run coming back that he did 178 miles an hour in a stock car that is insane 62. it's 62. 29 stock class world records it gets better so as we all know andy granitelli was a big tuner of cars and let's take the car back and not do anything harry but do some of his tricks of the trade and bring the car back to bonneville he ran at 198 miles an hour average and one of his runs coming back he was over 200 miles an hour you're talking current day ferrari speeds this is a car that the american collectors and worldwide collectors don't know enough about that's right that's crazy and so they say well why did was there only 4 800 of them sold and why was only 1500 supercharged cars well secondly as i told you which you didn't know paxton was owned by studebaker so the majority of the superchargers went on these cars you know 500 of them but they couldn't produce enough of them the the amount of orders they had was insane they said at some of the shows they had as many as a thousand vehicles ordered most dealers never even got an r2 supercharged car not even one so what happened was the body manufacturer which also made the corvette bodies couldn't keep up and they weren't going to nuke chevrolet because that was their best customer sure so they simply couldn't build enough of these and then mustang took off and yep it was forgotten about after that it was forgotten about because what happened was they had literally thousands upon thousands of orders that were not filled and people were tired of waiting and that's what created the company yeah they were created by too much demand they couldn't scale it so this is one of america's greatest gyms of all time certainly from the 60s and sir thank you for being the caretaker as long as you were and let's get it in the trailer sean petey [Music] [Music] [Music] uh [Music] [Applause] [Music] uh [Applause] [Music] all right jason last question yeah oh got more parts cj pony parts you do mustangs too no is there a shelby in the garage best we'll find another one best local place to eat uh i recommend dino's diner dino's diner do you know his diner it's not a chain it's family run healthy portions that's what we like i figured you would go with us um no pressure it's up to you i'm actually not gonna this time okay very good well thanks again for such a good caretaker of that thank you again we'll have that picked up in the next three years that i'll keep in touch that's cool all right keep up with your rent though all right so we're gonna get the uh student baker ivani r2 supercharged four-speed data 44 world's fastest production sports car 1962 strapped down and we're gonna go to dino's dark let's go [Applause] [Music] [Applause] all right so we just left jason's house picking up the studebaker and it's in the trailer with our bitsa maserati oscar ferrari we don't know what it is anyway so the best food in town is dino's family restaurant it's a bld breakfast lunch at dinner he said it's definitely the best food in town we love family restaurants so let's go eat you hungry shopping you look hungry yep is that the menu this is almost like sit down and shut up but not really it says read menu know your order order the counter be seated okay wow [Music] okay i got mine since you're in california you might as well do something with avocados and vegetables right i'm gonna do the old veggie omelette the mexican deer burger dairy burger why do they call this a cali why do they call it a deer burger it's like a fun name you know when you go somewhere you're like i want that fun name burger because it's three layers i dare you to eat all that shawn i don't think i can i think you can i know i i can know i'm just not in that mode today shawn's doing best buy today because his definitely looks the best oh this is so unhealthy look at this fantastic there's onions mushrooms oh my god look at all the juices coming out get it this is a heart attack oh you gotta get another one man that looks good zach yours looks good too really good let's tear that up again that's why we always ask people who buy the cars from what the best local restaurant is and it looks like we got very good [Music] he's actually a macaroni cheese kind of sewer you want to try our homemade salsa yes that would be wonderful yeah oh there you go four could be awesome you know how people usually that they cut it with a knife and forks no no no no i meant like so did you just call me a pig no i promise i think she was talking about your intelligence watch our show no i was trying to help you so what she just said is you know sir most people cut that in half before they tried to eat it no i was trying to help but like so it wasn't so messy and you know no i think it's a great idea what's the show we're from texas we're not dainty oh you're from texas i have a good friend that's out there this is an amazing omelette let me get the salsa so you can try it hold on if this isn't natural i don't know what it is oh my god i figured since we're in california might as well eat healthy or that sean even it out okay and i added extra jalapenos and feta cheese because you didn't have goat cheese which i figured you would sit your couches it is goat cheese cheese look at that i should have known that i didn't know she told me it wasn't at the counter denise said it wasn't it is wait let me make sure let hold on so i did the right thing i was trying to order the healthiest thing on the menu and i asked for goat cheese and she told me you didn't have it so i got better okay cool so i did the right thing you did the right thing look at me i think i did the wrong thing no i just looks fantastic but it is fantastic compared to that i dare you to eat all that i dare you to too no you could eat all that what are you talking about there's no way but i can eat all that this is all show but after you might as well try i know i'm gaining weight i didn't notice you were gaining any weight you look awfully slim to me well yeah we got bigger t-shirts at the shop i'm pretty sure you can finish that nothing like peer pressure can you do it are you tapping out no he ain't tapping out there's one piece of bacon and three bites at the most i am almost sweating at this point and it's nice outside it's beautiful so i like 70 degrees i think i'm having the meat sweats isn't that what it's called i've heard that but i don't know what that means i don't know if you're allowed to say that on camera meat sweats you can say that i don't know [Music] i don't know that's what it's called well then do it he's only got three or four biceps wow what do we got there can't tap out right here all right i want everyone in the comments section is just flame sean no he's got to finish it we're not done yet we're not done yet all right that's still another five bites you got three lattes to go over here you said it you said that if i bought you three lattes you'd finish that burger and there they are and they got the little wafer things in there you wanted funny thing is i don't think coffee at all that's why i got you decaf why i just completely made all that up i know you have to finish it you had the you had the first bite the best five and then you're gonna have the last bite come on sean come on you can do it that's the last bite bro we got plenty of time just let it it's okay no i can't do it i'm sorry you still got the biscuit with grape jelly to go you asked her bring you jelly she brought you that jelly and now you're not going to eat the biscuit wrong jolly full that's rude you probably can't even we'll be back in five minutes for his last bite little piece of bread bacon that piece of bacon i can't get the bacon he did it outstanding he eat that i dare you to eat it all burger it was good too wasn't it my omelet was amazing it really was amazing so it's dinos family restaurant bld breakfast lunch and dinner so those of you that live in newark and fremont and forgot about this place you need to come back this is fantastic family run home cooking and they got a lady in here that takes your order her name is dennis i've never met a lady named dennis so if y'all see this on coffee walk and come in here tell them that dennis said hi the other one see you next week so we came in early this morning because we're about to head out for another uh event and we got some cool news so this is your encore if you will the commando and the ivani are both in the shop even though we have several hundred vehicles because the guys wanted to see the condition of them and guess what they might even run let's go check them out so when you saw us pick this up the paint on it was just dead like this we buffed half of it so look at there's on this side and the other side very different and they we put gas in it a fresh battery it's supposed to run let's see what happens look at that there's like a 225 dallas v6 and it goes in and out of gear they're going to test drive it today so this one was very accurately described by the owner he said he last drove it two years ago from sacramento all the way to where we bought it looks like it's going to clean up to just driver quality but what's neat about is when we looked at it earlier the bottom of this jeep the frame the chassis the body is rust free with the exception of the hard top because that was not on it earlier so this was going to be for sale today alex how's this coming looks like we lost alex anyway the interior is cleaned up really well much better than i anticipated as an original car look at that the bottom of the cars solid chassis is good and it's running nice the old pressure gauge is working it goes into impressions actually operating now it just ran out of gas because it's set up small external fuel source so clutch is working transmission feels good motor sounds good now you see right here we're just running on this external fuel source it just ran out the supercharger itself has got some blow-by so we have the tube off which means you're probably gonna have to put seals in the supercharger but the motor does sound good this is as far as we're gonna go with this one this is definitely a worthwhile project taking on as you know you heard the video how important this car is so they both run there you have it they both go in gear they both move this one does not have brakes this one's going to be for sale today too if you're interested in either these cars we're going to wholesale them hit us up at social cbjeep.com thanks again please like tag share follow and we have a new tick tock channel see you next week
