hey everybody I am out in the shop where normally bikes come to get repaired and that's how things been going lately so as you can see behind me and off to the side yeah I'll fix basically any bike hiding underneath the camera there is a Pro deco tech if you can believe it or not that's a little bit old-school for some of you we've got a Saunders there's a super 73 there's all sorts of things going on in here and so I wanted to share with you a new tool now I had actually seen this and was tempted or interested to try it but thankfully the inventor of this device reached out to me and said hey would you be interested in showing this to your viewers he sent me one I've had some time to test it out and to play with it and now that I've actually used it I can assuredly say that I like it and it is very well done so before I show you what the tool is let me show you the problem first and see if you can come up with some solutions that would be lightweight inexpensive and things you could actually carry with you on the bike and it's probably going to be a little bit tricky for you to figure this out that's what makes this such a great invention is no one had ever done it before so let's say you're in the shop or in your garage on the trail you are somewhere with your ebike and you need to fix a rear flat tire now the logical thing to do is to put the bike on to the seat and the handlebars upside down or to put it in a bike stand and basically if you want a bike stand that can hold an electric bike you got to spend a significant amount of money I've got a couple over there on the workbench and to make sure that I can hold all a bike securely I actually put two of them up to clamp on the bikes and that helps kind of rearrange and put it in two different configurations depending on we're working on things but what if you don't have that or what if your flat tire is on the trail somewhere what do you do well normally we flip the bike over and you try and maybe you loosen the screws on your screen right here to get it out of the way but in effect most ebikes have a bunch of things on the handlebars such that if you just flip it over like this you're going to break something I try to keep my bars on my bike pretty clean but I still have a nice display right in the middle and I don't want to scratch or break it so what do we do what would you do to solve this problem you grab a couple of rocks and put them under each handle bar or your sweater and a bag Oh some spare tubes you may have done one of those things but you don't need to any more because the solution has been hiding right under your nose this whole time no seriously it's like right under your nose it's it's right here and it's called the original I like that nice touch the original handlebar Jack ultra portable bicycle repair stand made in the USA patent pending and there's a nice little graphic right there for what it does and if you turn the box over there it kind of shows you well that's a plate down this way pull apart handlebar jacks open legs fasten the handlebar over the red rubber strap carefully flip over the bike and rest handlebar jack on ground so how does this thing actually work well first let's pull it out of the box which is a nicely printed little box there are instructions inside thank you Andy Wilke off and let's pull this out so this is what you pull out of the box it's very compact it is super lightweight in fact I also have a handy little card right here that gives me some specs weighs only 3.2 bounces so this isn't like a big heavy-duty repair stand but it can solve a problem that you would otherwise need one for basically you take this and this is this is just genius if you're into 3d printing you probably notice if you look at this close-up this is a 3d printed part and I've 3d printed some parts in the past and done some things and it's hard to get a really good finish and make something strong but this is very well done when I first saw it I was very impressed so how does that this doesn't even look like anything this design is just genius I love it so you pull these two pieces apart like that and see huh it was hard to pull apart there's magnets that hold it together so to put it back together just like that you could like stay here and do this all day that is better than a fidget spinner okay now so we pop those apart and then here you have three little legs that fold out and then you have this rubber o-ring of sorts basically it's like a rubber band basically you're gonna put this on the handlebar and then clamp it on there so let's uh let's bring the bike over here so you can see how exactly this goes on pull it apart so nice really nice work Andy I am I'm impressed thank you for letting me test these out so you could put these in multiple places on the handlebars I think since I have the instructions maybe I should actually read them he suggests further apart the better for stability mmm smart ideally they can attach to the bike grip and I would agree with that the way that these are shaped right here they really are large enough for the grips on your bike and not the bars and then they're more likely to move around so put them on the grips you could put here or you could put on the very end and then we'll just show you what he says to do next which if you've worked on a bike enough this will come pretty natural so you swivel that rubber band around like that you put those little legs out there we put this guy on the other end legs out there and then now what we can do is just grab your rear brake and flip your bike over and just gently set it down and this is just it's so simple yet works so well okay so there you have it now the bike is on the handlebar jacks it's keeping everything on the handlebars clear and off the ground or off the trail or wherever it is and you don't have to loosen your screen and move it around or if you've got a bell or phone holder cup holder I don't care what kind of holder you got if you got them you don't have to move them around so that is pretty smart I I really like that design very cleanly made I think that's pretty self-explanatory how that works but the fact that you can carry that in your saddlebag or in a pack on the back and your backpack whatever you carry it's so small and lightweight you could put it just about anywhere it's kind of one of those things like why why wouldn't you carry that around because it's so so useful when when you need it like I said to change a flat tire or something you've got it so here's some things that they say on the little card that he sent with me so I can I can give you the real sales pitch on these things lifts your bike three and a quarter inches from the ground so if you want to know how much clearance you have right there that's just over three inches so if you have something that's over three inches tall from your handlebars you got too much junk on your handlebars get that off of there I don't know what you're doing but protects ebike displays that was my number one concern throttles also a valid concern brake levers mounted accessories from touching the ground true on all accounts and they're sturdy enough it seems to hold this bike up just fine and then you've got tripod design keeps the bike stable I agree with that magnetically locks together I already showed you that it works so nicely 3.2 ounces like I said and then when closed and connected the pair is only six inches long so very smart I mean it could have easily made little tripod like Jack's that are fixed like this and they don't nest together and they don't fold up and and they could have got the same end result but it wouldn't be able to fold up and pack away into your bike bag so you can take it with you so that that to me is just awesome now I have to show you because I'm not just testing this out for the first time for this video this is Sean's bike now if you don't know who Sean is that's okay he's a local customer and he was in last week's podcast episode so if you want to hear about some of his biking adventures on his little quali sports folding bike go check out the podcast this is a little bike but don't let it fool you he's got two thousand thirty nine point five miles on this bike with that 36 volt seven amp hour battery so he's racking up the miles unfortunately in all of those miles he did have somebody pull out in front of him I don't remember the exact details but basically there was a crash involving a car thankfully he's healing up and he's doing good but we had to true up the rear wheel so instead of putting this into a bike stand and working on it I actually put the handlebar jacks on to his grips right here and I flipped this bike over and I used my spoke wrench and I Trude up and straighten up his wheel and gave those a little bit of a test and bike was nice and stable I was able to go through straighten all the spokes out get everything tightened up his bikes good to go and the handlebar Jack's got the seal of approval from me over at Bolton ebikes so if you want to see where to buy these I will make sure to put a link in the description once again and II will cough is the manufacturer and the inventor I guess you could say of these it's called the original handlebar jack and it's just a cool little tool that I think is great for any bicycle but particularly for ebikes when you have all these gadgets and displays and things up on the handlebars so great design Andy I can't wait to see if you come up with anything else because those are so well made but I'll definitely be hanging on to these putting them in my saddlebag and using them I'm gonna interrupt again and tell you about my podcast not because you need to go listen but you definitely should I've been recording the most amazing interviews lately and I can't wait for you guys to hear them we have so many things that are just awesome about electric bikes coming out on the podcast in addition to the YouTube channel here but I want to make sure you go sign up on the podcast page at ebike podcast.com because i will send you a link so you can go to the sign up page and you can always see what the latest ebike giveaway is now I really do giveaway ebikes and to prove it here's a little trip that I took earlier this week so you might be wondering what I'm doing sitting in my car today I'm actually going to show you I hope one of the bike giveaway winners so normal what happens I tell you who won or we send out an email or something there was one video and I'll put a link to that one where I was actually able to surprise somebody at the shop with a bike but I always thought it would be totally awesome if somebody won a bike and I literally just showed up at their door with the bike so today I actually have the winning bike in the back right there tucked inside the car hidden away and the person who won the bike was close enough that I was like you're not I just need to drive over there and give it a shot so he doesn't know that I'm coming he does know he did get a phone call asking about kind of a delivery window so he knows there's a chance the bike could be delivered today but he does not have a clue that I'll actually be the one that's dropping it off so we've got a little bit further to go we're sitting in Reno and headed over to Carson City Nevada and we'll see if we can surprise him okay so I'm just around the corner I don't want to show the street or anything so you know where he lives or anything like that but we've got Robert over here in Carson City Nevada I have the bike here I am going to walk it just around the corner to his house and knock on his door and let's see what happens okay this is a place let's turn the camera around hello are you Robert good you probably didn't expect me to bring the bike did you okay so Robert has his bike tucked away safely inside it's a little chilly out 10:00 it's evening time so he's happy with that it says he and his daughter Zach have actually been looking at electric bikes he has never ridden an e bike yet so awesome I was able to find somebody at random on YouTube that I gave it away to was never ridden an e bike so excited about that he's happy and now it's time to go find a charging station for the car get something to eat and head back to California why is that my GPS telling me where to go today we'll you launched one today yes 2,000 miles was Shaun today's episode on the podcast okay so we are pulling up to the charging station because we need we got 45 miles left on the car and we have more than 45 miles left to go let's get this thing plugged in the app is thinking ok savemart oh look at that it knows where we are loading charger all you have to do is swipe with the app if you have it on your phone and then it should start charging charger is currently occupied yes by me initiating session okay we are we're charging perfect so that tells us how fast a charging 14 18 kilowatts 28 33 the lower your battery is the faster it charges which is cool the bolts on these Chargers it tends to charge like 40 some kilowatts maximum so that's 42,000 Watts right now going back into the car which is just insane compared to e bikes so some of the newer electric cars like Tesla they're advertising 350 kilowatt charge rates so 350 thousand watts if we could do that that'd be awesome but if we did that then we wouldn't have to sit in the car and eat PF Changs so it's okay alright so if you can see the screen here here's what it looks like in a Chevy bolt charge cord can Nick did it says 131 I've just changed 132 miles just giving an estimate and that is more than enough to get home and I'm done eating the delicious PF Changs it's the best gluten-free Chinese food probably some of the only gluten-free Chinese food if I'm honest there's the charging rate so at 37 38 kilowatts kind of jumping back and forth basically that means it's slowly starting to ramp down it's still charging pretty fast but we got enough of a charge and they charge you on these things by the kilowatt hour so no sense paying too much when it's cheaper to charge at home all right so that took 37 minutes and we got 26.4 kilowatt hours back into the battery the car has about a 60 kilowatt hour battery just so you know where it's at fully charged so all we got to do is press the stop button sure and it makes some clicking noises unplug this hefty charge connector that's those two pins on the bottom that's a safety thing that's the 480 volts and now we are good to go [Applause] [Music] [Music] thanks again for watching Bolton ebikes I appreciate everyone viewing my channel if you haven't hit that
