Everyone Should Know This About E-Bikes...

are you thinking of buying an e-bike that looks something like this or do people keep bugging you saying they want to asking you which one is better well i have some advice so you don't screw this up because there's a big secret about these things let's talk about it hey guys josh here again with daily mountain bike rider and today i wanted to talk about a little bit of a different subject which is these e-bikes i'm sure you've seen these things everywhere they're super popular and a lot of people from all ages even those who are older are all about getting one of these lower price point e-bikes these cost anywhere from like a thousand to two thousand dollars and the goal is to get into the e-biking world to ride your bike more or to convince yourself you're gonna ride your bike more and actually won't but there's one big thing i noticed about these and first let me tell you why i noticed this is because i get an email i kid you not once a week from some random company i've never heard of that wants to send me a free e-bike like this one in return for a review and every time i say the same thing yes absolutely send it my way and i've gotten a handful of these e-bikes and i realize something important that i want you to know about this one that i'm showing you is from a company called velowwave and um yeah they has two wheels and some suspension and a motor and it is a rear hub driven e-bike with the price point of around 1700 just like so many other ones out there and when i get these e-bikes i just think to myself they've done it again here's why all these e-bikes are the same now you may be sitting there and going okay well i can look at the pictures and i know they're not actually the same some are stuck through some have skinnier tires some have bigger tires some have a throttle some don't some have different no i'm serious they're all the same the batteries may be a little bit smaller or bigger but in short all of these e-bikes have a couple of things one extremely cheap drivetrains two they're all made of aluminum three they have a motor in the rear hub that's unresponsive and forward they are extremely cheap if you remember i did my e-bike video where i bought a walmart e-bike for 400. and the reason being is because it was the cheapest one i could find and yet it was very similar to this e-bike while that one definitely had cheaper components it didn't have a throttle on the handlebar and it didn't really have an interactive screen so to speak it did the same thing you pedaled with it it was a little delayed but you got places and you could go pretty far on a single charge honestly five ten miles i don't know i wouldn't ride further than that but then i started seeing these things and these have a little bit beefier tires they have a suspension fork on the front the battery comes out and this one i'll be honest it's actually a pretty nice one but realistically what these companies do is they go to taiwan or they call it the taiwanese bike maker and go i want to sell e-bikes all these bikes are made from one of very few manufacturers over in taiwan and the price point of these probably to the people who make them is something like five hundred dollars and they all cost you somewhere between fifteen hundred to two thousand dollars and the reason being is that random companies like velowave decide that they wanna get into the market they call up the manufacturer they make small little tweaks on components they want to make theirs better or different or stand out really they're making a great profit by a company that you've never heard from hoping that you buy their version of the exact same bike that you can find 100 different places on the internet and then with some slick marketing like avinton or uh shubatin or velo wave or vivo wave they always have some weird ridiculous name they put their marketing or their style some have step throughs some have larger frames some have smaller frames but really they're just all the same e-bikes so i've gotten questions from so many of my friends or my parents friends or my family members i'm looking at one of these things and they send me a link and they're like which one should i buy which one is better and the biggest tip i can tell you in this video and encourage you to tell everybody buy the cheaper one because they're basically all the same and they will be good as long as you're not doing anything off-road or anything where you need a super reliable bike and if you need that you need to spend some more money buy a brand that you've heard about before like specialized or trek that's going to be a crank driven motor e-bike instead of a rear wheel motor anyway so um yeah that's kind of it if you want to learn more about this bike the velo wave i'm sure the people gave it to me would love for me to tell you that i'll put a link down below again this one looks like a good one but i'll be honest they all look about the same if you're going to spend 1500 just pick one that you think looks coolest or has the best color or thinks that maybe you think you can do a wheelie on it you can't so anyway i hope that piece of information is valuable to you that you've learned something new today and realize the next time you hear a random brand like shimon do bikes that it's probably just going to be the same thing from
