Wire Wrapped Side Swept Elegant Pendant Tutorial Beginner

hi everybody its axon and today I'm going to show you how to make this pendant style here and if you follow me over on Instagram you might have noticed that this is a style I do it quite often this has been a favorite of mine for a long time now and I think I'm finally ready to share it so have you want to see how I made this just keep watching and starting out with three pieces of square dead soft 20 gauge copper and my cabochon is 1 inch oval this is a rainbow moonstone and what I'm gonna do is I'm keeping this wire just on this fool so I can just take the end of it here and use it and it is 22 gauge which is point zero one two five and it is from way around it's the half round wire this is the one that I always use for everything so I'm just taking my three wires right in the middle and I am just wrapping make sure they are lined up because it's square so they need to all be like nice and flat like this and I am just going to wrap around a few times and then I'm gonna trim my wire in such a way that these little ends are all on the same side and then I'm gonna squish it down with my pliers so that it is all nice and flat so this will be the inside the part that touches the stone this will be the outside so I'm gonna just go ahead and use my finger to kind of start a curve and then I'm gonna take my stone put it in and this is easier if you lay down on a flat surface I just can't do that due to my filming setup but I'm just bending this around the stone and because this is an oval I'm gonna leave a little bit of a gap here up top and I'm putting a little bend in my wires so that I can bring them together like this and just make sure that it is nice and centered and then you can remove the stone tapes pliers to just kind of press these together so they're tighter and now we're gonna go back to this connecting wire the 22 gauge half round so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna take the end of it and I'm gonna wrap it in this direction the rest of it is still connected to the spool so don't cut it yet so I'm just taking the end of it and I'm wrapping it several times around all of the wires then you want to designate a front and back to your piece so this is my front this is my back just because that's the way I bent it around the stone so this little end like I cut it and now I'm taking this little end and I'm on the back and I'm talking it this way and then I am flattening it down so that it's tucked away and then from the front you can't even see it so what I'm going to do now this is my front is I am going to take the two wires the front most wires like this I'm going to bend them forward so it's this wire coming in a very front and this wire here as well it's these two wires and then here on the back I have the other two wires on one side and then the other side so I'm just kind of separating into three bundles of two wires each so what I'm gonna do is these two wires that are on my front part of my pendant coming towards me as I'm going to take this thin wire I'm just continuing the loop the wrap and once I get to here I'm gonna wrap around just these two wires that's why you kind of want to bend them forward so that that gives you the room to really get in there and wrap around okay and you want to do this until you are satisfied with the height of your bail because this is going to be your bail and when you're done you're just gonna trim your wire and situated this little end ends up pointing towards the back so it's hidden on the back so mine is like a little twisted I mean the whole entire piece here so I'm just gonna flatten it and as they flatten it I am twisting it a little and people ask me a lot about like the little Knicks that get left in the wire sometimes from when you are using your pliers so I noticed that the really small ones tend to just get removed when I exceed I and polish up the copper then you kind of can't see them anymore but for bigger ones like if I just really accidentally made a big deep scratch in my wire then I would use maybe some sandpaper to try and get that out so what I'm going to do now is I'm going to bend my bail and you can use bail making pliers or you can use just round nose pliers but I'm just going to bend this by hand so what I'm going to do is I'm going to tuck these ends inside of the frame and I'm just using this the pliers to just kind of guide this like that I'm gonna squish it just the tiniest bit there we go so now these two wires that are coming through the front I'm gonna take the rightmost one and I'm gonna really try to get in there and trim it in such a way that the wire end is just really in here in this little gap and then you can't feel it because it's not sticking out we're gonna cover that up so you won't be able to see it but I also just don't want it to stick out so now with the other why the one we did not cut I am bringing it around and to the back and I'm wrapping it basically so my bail is connected to something so that it can't move out of place and then I'm trimming it and I'm taking this little end and I'm tucking it and pressing that down and just kind of squishing that whole thing down alright so the next thing that I'm gonna do is I'm going to take these wires here on the right side and I'm gonna bring them up just kind of straight up trying to follow the bail so I guess like straight up and also little forward because I don't want to cover up this hole because this is the bail and we need the chain to fit through it so here it is on the front so I want it to be kind of towards the top here and at the top portion I'm going to bend them like this okay and I'm holding it and pressing with my index finger so that I can turn and make this sort of Bend shape and then I'm pressing here with my thumb so that the whole thing doesn't move when I bend these ends so I'm holding it here with my thumb and then I'm bending the ends this way okay and then here on the back I'm trimming these two wires and then I'm taking the ends with my mr. own pliers and I am squishing them down in there now this next part I do this in a lot of different ways for a lot of variation but basically you can twist one or both of these wires if you wish or you can use a half round wire and wrap that around one or both of these or use different sizes of the half round wire or even use like a round thin weaving wire and make a weaving pattern around these two there's really a lot of variation in terms of decorating these two wires before we put them in their on position but what I'm gonna do which is a common thing from me is I'm gonna take the half round wire and I'm gonna take this wire here so this is the front most wire and I'm gonna wrap the half round wire just the same 22-gauge half round wire oh you can also cut those little beads on there as well those little two millimeter beads that I used in my previous video for a different project so I'm just wrapping this wire around and around and at one point when it is slightly longer you're gonna want to trim that little end and you're gonna want to press that down but gently because we still need this to slide so now I'm going to slide it down and now I'm gonna hope that when I continue twisting it sometimes the whole thing will twist around so you're not gonna be adding more wraps so you're just like twisting it and the thing just moves around and around in that case you have to press it down a little with your pliers to try to get it tight around the square wire so that it doesn't turn every time that you do this but for me it seems to be not doing that time because I think I've I've wrapped enough times if you wrap enough times it usually it just kind of stays in place once you push it down there so what I'm doing is I am continuing this until it is long enough to go across the front like this so what you want to do is when you think you might be getting close I've done this so many times look I've gotten it just the right size but when you think you're getting close just bend it in that direction and just see how you're doing and now I'm just pinching that little wire and I cut it and I tucked it away okay and I'm bending it here's what it looks like in the front and in the back same thing as I did with those wires right above it trimming it pressing it down and squishing it and what you can do because you can kind of see those wire ends there is just try and get them pushed up towards the bail so there isn't big gaps so they take up less space and now this wire here I think I'm gonna go ahead and twist this one actually all right so I'm gonna twist it and then I am just putting it right next to my other wire here just like that and so you can trim this and tuck it in option one option two you can continue it this way bend it this way and then trim and tuck it here from the front so if you do that you're gonna have just like an additional little detail where you see that here or you can bring it all the way across the front it just really depends on the look that you're going for I'm gonna go with the very first option where I just trim it right away and just tuck it here okay so now we're going to work on hiding these little ends here I'm also thinking of potentially cutting it in just a little bit shorter so I'm going to kind of open up that loop and trim just a tiniest little bit off of that press that flat okay so I think I'm happy with how that looks from the front time to put the stone in and what I like to do is just hold it in place and then go to the back take these back most wires then bend them onto the back of the stone to trap the stone in from the back still holding it though because it's not trapped from the front so we can fall out the front okay so now I'm gonna take these front wires I'm gonna separate them out with my nail like this and then I'm gonna go in with my pliers just really in here and make a little bend on both sides and then I'm gonna press that down because there's a gap so I'm pressing the wire down so it's lying flat on my stone then I'm gonna check my stone to make sure that it's far enough on the side here that it's gonna trap my stone in because cabochon ZAR domed so they kind of get small smaller's to go this way so if the wire is high enough on the side it'll trap it in and it will come out so mine seems to be stable so that is it it is completed the only thing I want to add is if you find that you mean pull a little too hard and when you do this top decoration after you've done it when you go back to put in your stone and you notice that your frame kind of got all maybe you smush it a little bit as you were holding it and it got distorted or maybe pulled on these wires a little too hard and that kind of pulled this wire through and made you know the shape and size of your frame different and your stones not fitting in a really good what you want to do if that's the problem you run into is you want to put your stone in first and secure it like I did and then so at that point you would have their stone in and secured but these wires will just be sticking up here and well you would have made your bail but the other wires would be sticking up so then you would secure the stone make sure it fits make sure it's good and then go back and do this part so just a little tip okay that's a problem that
