Will This FREE Tractor Run, Drive, and Farm Again?

[Music] foreign [Music] howdy everybody here we are our next tractor that we found we're going to be trying to get this thing started maybe and get it on the trailer the lady's giving it to us because she needs to get out of the yard and we don't know a whole lot about it it's been sitting several years supposedly it had a hydraulic problem and then it was parked and now it's just been sitting here the gentleman that owned it he got sick and wasn't able to take care of the problem and get it fixed so it's just been sitting here for several years found out it's a John Deere it is a diesel so this is our first diesel trying to get it to start we're just going to try to see what we can do you think we're gonna be able to get it running here I don't know I hope so most of the Diesels if it was running when it was parked and there's not water in the fuel we should be able to get it running if the starter turns over and all I think we will you said it was having hydraulic problems when it was parked and well that bucket's sitting on the ground that's going to be a problem if we can get it running we might there might be enough Hydraulics that we can lift it up off the ground a little bit I'm trying to do some brainstorming to figure out what we need to do might be able to take the bucket off I don't know I don't think air will help that tire yeah uh that one's well this one's still kind of sitting on the ground kind of doing something for us not really uh we're waiting on a pancake compressor and this one's just completely rim on the ground I like the boat seat yeah the boat seat's nice car tires on the front boat seat three batteries sitting on this thing that's a lot of core charges right there good job yeah we looked inside there's fluid can't tell what the fluid is smells like diesel that's good enough for me I don't have the the fine palette to tell you know Diesel from motor oil from coolant I don't normally tell by the The Taste I normally tell by the film it leaves in my mouth well I know there's others out there that they can taste it yeah okay that's 30 weight I I don't have that fine of a pallet not that refined got the dipstick sitting down here might as well check it while we're here oh yeah there's definitely there's milkshake happening a whole lot of milkshake oh boy that froze up foreign that's a good sign yeah so far of course brakes might be locked up hey look we've got some oil sitting right here what is this some Quaker State Castrol Castrol both got green containers oh this is probably going to be better than what's in it right now the dipstick was full it just wasn't full of uh oil what do you think of that dipstick dance looks like muck well I don't reckon I've ever seen the inside of the battery like that that's pretty cool probably not safe whole bunch of posts on it my Lord oh no that's for porn huh caps I'm not used to seeing batteries like that oh you're used to just seeing yeah just not the battery school there you had to add distilled water to them that's a little before my time a little before our time James I'm not too concerned about the motor starter and I'm more concerned about having to fight this bucking and fighting whatever hydraulic problems was happening before while we're waiting on that compressor we do have a Dodge d350 with us got a trailer loaded up on we got a winch just in case this old girl don't start we brought some batteries I think first order of business is going to be us hooking a battery to this thing and just seeing if she's gonna cheat you a little bit for us and turn over you know give us some kind of life all right we're gonna go ahead and just disconnect that battery and after disconnecting the battery we're gonna go fill up those tires put the new battery on we're gonna go see if this thing starts there's definitely water in these tires steel plates are too expensive stems on the inside yep a really bad spot with an old Tire she's lifting up what do you think oh they're holding air just fine I'm happy with that that one tire is completely shredded but I think we're good enough with three as long as this bucket's gonna work with us a little bit they were down deep in a hole this thing's almost aired up now and it doesn't even look like it came out any been sitting a while this one's got water all the way up to this valve Stone so these are probably completely full of water that one hasn't leaked down yet I think we're good three out of four ain't bad let's get this should we get the switch off or no no we'll work on it it probably won't be there for a reason well it's fine maybe that's our ignition switch yes sir don't run the battery down probably just has a battery drain are you all hooked up so it's about time to turn the key and see what kind of light this girl is going to give us Moment of Truth nothing from the key she ain't giving me nothing we can hook the battery directly to the starter and turn it over like that that'll definitely work there's this wire lead ER that's what that wire is for that's good that's a good thing well we got 12 volts to the starter so we can jump it with a screwdriver three two driver to it I guess we need to figure out fuel now you're starting fluid a lot less work for us without it being stuck take this intake off gonna shoot some starting fluid down in there it's just peeing hydraulic fluid over here so hydraulic yeah [Music] I think it'll probably run we just gotta get turned it over faster running out of battery disconnecting this fuel line from the pump ah take a peek at our diesel that ain't looking bad smells pretty good pressure hey please look at the knees [Applause] coming out of it nothing no fuel do you want to see if we're getting fuel on this side of that pump Brody make sure it's pumping good turn on that fuel pump that fuel pump ain't working running but not pumping running but not pumping you got a fuel pump that we can hook up to this really didn't bring enough wiring tools for all of this but we're gonna make it happen yourself oh geez this hose is way too big for this nipple you can never come prepared with enough fuel lines and electrical connectors and tools tools man if it ain't one thing it's another just how it is this is our first diesel will it start ever it's like learning curve but same thing different shapes get on the road oh yep yep yep turn it off well we're having fuel issues with this bad boy right now we got this one fuel line bled we got this one off this one don't want to come off we're scared we might break it so uh we're gonna bleed these two getting better right [Applause] bleeding out yet thanks God yeah we've got fuel now going to the roof you're coming out now we just need to turn it over faster yeah I think that's the biggest thing this thing needs to spin over to heat that down the diesel that is getting in there we really need to get that tractor turning over faster and well that thing's got three cylinders this thing's got six this battery's a whole lot bigger so we're just gonna Rob the battery off of this bad boy so hopefully it doesn't leave us stranded because we're about an hour and a half from home we're gonna make something happen [Applause] foreign I'm gonna be able to get this thing cranked in place we want to get it on the trailer our plan is we're going to try to jack up these arms with some Jacks that we have try to block them up so they're not dragging the ground then we're going to put a winch on our tow truck over here the Dodge and we're going to try to pull the front end of this thing around facing out down the driveway hopefully everything turns freely the transmission seems to be fine as long as the brakes aren't locked up we should be able to roll this thing pretty good get it home that way we got more room more tools and more time to deal with it we'll see if we can get running at home we forgot the controller for it so uh it's basically a block just heavy as hell and don't do nothing figure something else out redneck engineering right here right here wood holding this bucket up off the ground hopefully that's enough to clear the trailer but we'll find out soon enough foreign we're taking a closer look at this lift on the front and uh well you know coming right here it's like oh yeah oh those are some mediocre welds you know whatever that's not too bad come look at this box you're like oh shoot that's off of skid steer and then you come looking down here at the locking mechanism the guy who owned this before he he definitely built this and also an old guy he stopped while we were loading this bad boy up I'm about to take off and he said that he remembered this tractor clearing just about all the Lots around it before it had houses on it he said he'd been there about 30 years and that happened somewhere 20 years ago or more so that's pretty cool this tractor helped you know kind of create that Community a little bit in a way hopefully we can get this old girl running again and uh maybe she can clear some more land one day also coming back here Bill we gotta data cable holding up our rear boom let me notice that when we were loading it up and we were like what the heck but I mean if it ain't broke don't fix it right yesterday we were working on this thing and the 12 volt fuel pump that we had it died on us so uh it was getting late when we just decided to call it a day right there you know it's it was about time to give up I'm back here though today well we had tried just about everything yesterday and she wouldn't crank I'm imagining she's got pretty decent compression just by putting your hand over the intake man it about sucks your whole damn arm down here we are looking at these injectors took all the return lines off gotta take one more fuel line off diesel whatever you want to call it I'm going to pop all these injectors off give them a good clean hopefully that'll help us out I think I will say though these tires have quite impressed me obviously that one's got a hole in it but that one's holding air that one's holding there and that old girl right there is holding there we were talking with the lady a little bit more and the guy whose tractor this was that got sick he was sick about six or seven years ago boy passed away about six or seven years ago and he was sick quite a ways before that we're not sure when he actually parked this he parked this because of a hydraulic leak and well we're not sure when he parked it from there so it could be anywhere from you know 10 to 7 years ago that this bad boy was parked and it might not have been running good then you never know well I got the first one out and uh yeah that might be part of our problem that's definitely not making a fine Mist yeah that is that is crudded up that's definitely part of our problem and I'd imagine if every single one of these look like that well if it's shooting it out in big drops the diesel really ain't gonna ignite especially at the combustion chamber ain't already hot ah they just pull out well he can get him to do something they pull out finally got this one popped up that one's looking about the same as the last one I wonder what them combustion Chambers look like huh well I guess we can peek in it now with our camera we'll probably do that before we put these bad boys back in we got these bad boys all disassembled all the rubber gaskets off of them this is a bucket of carb cleaner we'll be back tomorrow after that's done pickling we wanted to update you guys real fast we did a lot of work off camera I popped them injectors out you guys saw that they were soaking we got them all cleaned up now they're looking good James wired up a new fuel pump for us got the battery in here we're hoping that that battery is going to do it for us now that the injectors are clean my dad freed up that throttle so that's working throttle's all hooked up looking good Fuel shut offs hooked up I got really high hopes now that it's going to start especially since those injectors look just absolutely cruddy that was more than likely a problem all right well we got them fuel injector holes opened up I'm going to take a peek down in them cylinders really there should be more Marvel in there so looking in there uh we put a lot of Marvel in there before you guys can see most of that is seeped through around just kind of in the bowl of that piston it's still sitting there all the stuff around the ring soaked out so we're probably a little low on compression on this baby if it let all that fluid past the Rings same thing here all that marble soaked around and just that little bowl in the center of the Pistons holding Marvel we probably got some low compression going on fighting us also whoa see this one's holding fluid so we probably got some strong compression going on in this cylinder these two got some low compression going on so those rings are definitely going to have to let loose a little bit because diesel relies on compression to ignite the fuel so more than likely that back cylinder is going to fire off for us and then front two they might they might give us some trouble but my hope is that turning it over on this trailer that back one's going to fire start turning the motor over and then as it starts running it's going to loosen up those front two pistons and hopefully we can get it running off the just the starter if we can't though this might be a good candidate for a pull start when you pull start something uh you're giving the starter a break basically and you're pulling it around the yard and it's going to be moving the whole time that movement's really going to help it let them Rings loose and also the heat that it's going to generate it's going to help them Rings get loose so that's what we're going to do right now we're going to pop them fuel injectors in and get moving on this the rear cylinder still has a marble in it so we're going to blow that out I've got a remote switch here that we've hooked up to the starter so that we can use this since the key is not working I'm just going to turn it over and blow all the extra fluid out of there we'll leave these off to bleed the fuel system real fast just gonna throw the bolts on there the return lines and we should be ready to get moving I'm about to hook up the fuel pump gonna start bleeding the air out of the system gonna bleed it up to this fuel pump right here Sierra's coming out now we got fuel I'm gonna let it sit there for a second just to make sure all the air is out we're going to plug in this fuel pump start turning her over get that system bled up to the injector turn it over Daddy all right ready yep everybody clearing everyone clear fire off we had a real bad hydraulic leak in the valve body so we bypassed that plugged off the lines bled the injectors after we soaked them and cleaned them now we put a bigger battery in there hopefully we can get this thing turning over fast enough that it will fire off let's just look turn it on our fuel pump all right okay yep let's turn her over let's turn it over just a little bit more and then we'll try something else okay something's trying got a little bit of Premium starting fluid sometime in its past life she took a pretty good hit here and that's probably what took this tire out and bent this room we're going to try to put another tire on that we have but we hope it's the same lug pattern and hopefully that'll help us get this thing where we can pull start it and get it cranked thank you guys can't get a bead to see on a rim just take some tractor grease run it around the whole thing and it should seat just fine we were having a heck of a time trying to seat this one and well as soon as we put the grease on it we didn't have to do hardly anything we got that tire on it's still leaking pretty bad well it's flat now but we're about to wheel it over so our barn to air it back up this bucket still doesn't have any Hydraulics as of right now it's dead to us which kind of strapped up we did the block method again that's holding it up right now and we're going to use a strap to make sure it doesn't fall out hopefully we can pull start this thing get it going before it's dark we just put a lot of effort into doing this so it'd be nice if today's the day when it fires off if not we're still going to make it happen but just going to take a little bit longer starting to fire right there at the end of us messing with it is also making a kind of funky noise but we'll see you're off that Tire's off it's off the rim now yeah it's really low this is what it's all come down to we put two tires on that old Rim it just didn't work out we figured something out it's a little bit ghetto but we finally got her where she can roll and now we're gonna try to pull starter build that compression up a little bit hopefully she's going to fire off for us we're gonna wait until we get into the good grass up there and then we're gonna let her go and we put a lot of time and effort into this tractor so far and there's still got a lot more to go but we just wanted to fire off and make sure that she's worth putting some more effort into you know so what do you think I'm hoping it'll start it'll give us our best chance I hope let the clutch out slowly hopefully this motor is going to start turning over come on how long to turn over all right let's try a different gear there we go want to go foreign for just a second there on her own once I pushed the clutch in it's got decent compression because he's fighting us but remember there's front two cylinders they didn't hold any marble he's getting there [Music] okay [Applause] making this video for you guys we
