Will it run after 50 years 1938 Dodge truck 

we have a 1938 Dodge truck this old girl's been sitting for 50 plus years at least 50 years it was used as a Corey truck at one point and then it was used to pick up rocks in the field and at one point a construction company had it she's got some of them Bullet Hole characters you know they're still a bullet hanging on in there underneath the hood all right I do not know if the engine's locked up yet but as you can see she's complete and looks fairly good the plugs are not rusted off in the heads which is great but 99 of the time on these flat heads they draw moisture and the plugs rust off in them haven't tried turning her over we will but we're gonna pressure wash that off of there make sure everything's clean and get them plugged out put some PV blaster in them inside we have a mess this used to be wood but sees the the clutch is free which is a good sign and this right here foreign right down here is where are you turn this but it does not work I was told it worked but the bed won't move so we're gonna get to pressure washing the old girl off check the old intern hopefully get this old girl running I don't think she'll be too hard because everything's there and we've got a lot worse looking things up oh yeah we got that engine all cleaned up so we can get a real good look at it we'll drive around them spark plugs here in a second once it quits dripping and get some PB Blaster and some heat to them pull them out and uh I got a hand crank around here I'm gonna go find and we're gonna see if she's locked up or not I couldn't find that hand crank so we're gonna go ahead and get these uh spark plugs all nice and warm oh yeah that's way too easy that is still hot pour that out of there and look how clean the bottom of them are I mean yeah I almost say this engine's gonna be good to go we're still gonna pull these out just because and put some PB Blaster in there but they don't even have much carbon on them as soon as I turn the camera off we pulled this plug out of there on cylinder number three she don't look too pretty it's got that green corrosion going on not sure what that's about we'll give that cylinder extra PB Blaster though I want to make sure you use a healthy amount of the good old PB Blaster I use about uh a can an engine most times if they're stuck if they're not stuck probably about a half can I've already sprayed a few of these there we go let's put a new battery terminal end on that and we have this for the ground and hopefully we can undo these bolts boy that's loose are they all that loose that got it no that one may be stripped out don't seem to be I'm gonna go ahead and sand that off and get back with you guys we're gonna bolt this down and see if the old starter works not totally sure why I made this uh brake cable this long but it's all hooked up so it's time to see if she's gonna crank over oh she's not locked up we got our Universal starter switch here it won't work from inside on the floor so well ooh that don't sound good thank you a weaver worked that motor around with the Power Ranger look and she's still stuck so we got some off-road diesel here just gonna fill the crank case up and let her set and hopefully by tomorrow she'll be unlocked and the old oil is still in there there's some PB Blaster in that oil and some acetone by now I'm sure so we'll have a good combination down in there we saved a little to pour down in each cylinder get us a good mix going on here [Music] foreign well the engine's still locked up I've already done the hard part and took all the head bolts out we're going to pull that head off of there it has these two Center studs so it kind of makes the pain to that gun I don't know if I got enough strength to get her off of there oh the head ain't that heavy it's just getting it Loose part oh God Almighty that ain't good oh no wonder she's locked up this is what she looks like a lot of surface rust nothing too terrible this is just from sudden this one got a little bit of a little bit more moisture in it since the intake valve was open same way with this and back here nothing too terrible we've seen worse we'll shop back all this out get the head gasket off and get her cleaned up the acetone's doing its job and this cylinder and eating all that rust off you can see where it's shiny but I'll get back with you and we'll shop back up Dollar General and got like 37 dollars worth of acetone so now that we can fill these up and let them soak and hopefully it'll eat all that rust out of there sadly this acetone evaporates really fast but since it's pouring down the rain it shouldn't evaporate that fast foreign get them cylinders a little cleaner you guys can hear me over the rain we've let that acetone soak in there for a while and I've cleaned out some of the cylinders hopefully if we bump this starter a few times we'll have a whirling let me know oh there we go come on she's moving just a little bit there we go there we go she's starting to move come on we'll have a Beat that water is grounding or something down in there we go see he's breaking loose don't let that battery cool down for a second and all the starter and everything this cylinder came up it's just a little sticky a fresh oil pulled in there and the motor is 30 over so at one point she was rebuilt we're gonna go ahead and finish up I'll get back with you guys once we got all them valves valvolating there all right I'll put it down on there now we're gonna pull this distributor cap here and it's all there and it don't look too bad down in there try not to lose our plug wire spaces pull that off of there the points do got quite a bit of corrosion on them nothing a little bit of sandpaper won't fix no clean uh I had six brand new spark plugs about four seconds ago and now I only have five so we're gonna use one of the old ones not sure where the other one went everything's hooked up so she should fire off the coils on there and a little bit of that cross your fingers coolest grounding itself out there that's my fault now let's try it's still grounding itself out you can't have that I went ahead and got that wire changed so we'll see what she's gonna do now oh well that ain't gonna help us out any because all the wires spark plug wires go around we should have it where she'll run I think it's the one with gas on it let's go ahead and do that they filled our gas bottle up [Music] we had a spark plug wire well actually a few of them that were grounding out even these are second hand off of a I don't know what they came off of there in the back of a car so we used them [Music] come on oh girl there we go she's gonna run just got to keep giving her gas [Music] okay we're gonna try to keep her idling longer this time [Music] I think she wants to be back on the road again she's out of a little higher right now a lot we're about right there maybe she tried to run away from us [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] don't exactly know how this is gonna go but we'll give it a try [Music] well that did not go was playing looks like the U-joint broke it broke on the other side over there then the drive shaft started smacking everything it was already messed up that was maybe why they pulled it out of there so we'll eventually get her back driving but that's gonna be it for this video thank you guys for watching
