this Jeep's hit everything but the lottery but for me it's hitting all the touch points of a really cool story about rescuing an old Jeep and this week's installment we're going to be doing a ton of work to get her back on the road so join me on the next prong of her Adventure as we tackle her breaks her fuel system as well as everything in between to get her moving down the road as she should say the value of this Jeep just instantly went up cause we got rid of those extremely ugly tall seats now we just need to find factory ones so we got the gas tank unbolted we're going to pull that out we're gonna try to clean it out the best we can before we invest in a repop because uh look at the rest of the Jeep I don't want to throw too many brand new parts at it and we were able to get to the tool kit over here where we would have all our Tools looks like there's a little Feller uh no not paying any rent and that's gotta go listening get out of here you pay rent or you get evicted [Music] you guys aren't gonna believe this from the state of this Jeep in this tank when I took the sending unit out of it and looked inside it's literally spotless unbelievable I mean I don't know if you guys can actually see in there zero rust in there I mean it's it's like brand new Wild [Music] here's the goals for today we got to get that leaky water pump fixed I'm also a little tired of Jerry rigging the starter so we got a key and ignition as well as a solenoid that we're going to install so we can start starting it on that stuff if the day goes well maybe we can work on the brakes see if she can stop a little bit and also take her down the road but I think other things need to be addressed first so let's start with the key [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] water pumps all changed out let's fire up hope for no leaks [Music] we're wiring up the key switch here Evan from Classic Motors was kind enough to draw this little diagram for me for the wiring as I am terrible at wiring so still learning but definitely diagram is a huge help so getting those all put together using all the right tools to do it [Music] laughs that's exciting yesterday we had some small victories we have the engine now running on the gas tank after we cleaned it out and kind of prepped it a little bit we got the leak and the water pump all taken care of and now we have a set of keys for the CJ we did some small wiring so we don't need to jump it anymore so next order of business is we're gonna put some gear oil in the transmission and we're gonna fix try to fix one of the most common problems with these after they sit for a long time and that is the clutch pedal and brake pedal being stuck together so I'm gonna put some heat on that and see if we can get those freed up so we can actually have breaks and maybe drive it around on not just low range so let's get started foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign pedal was free we pulled the master cylinder off as it was blocked up just like the pedals we took it all apart as you see here that's all the guts of it cleaned everything put it all back together and got it moving smoothly again and was able to slap it right back on the Jeep good as new [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] foreign [Music] [Applause] into the CJ5 down in the woods it was apparent she really needed some things Evan the owner of it who actually gifted the CJ5 to me thank you so much Evan found somebody online that had the parts that we needed so he reached out to them and bought some for his own collection because the shop was closing so they needed to get rid of everything so we got the things we needed for the CJ5 and everything else they needed everything gone by today they said come on get it I made a deal on it but we got more Willis Jeep parts than we know what to do with [Music] foreign truckload score of Jeep Willis parts we boiled that truck bed down to a few things that the 62 CJ5 needs so basically that whole truckload came down to these things here that I have picked out they I need things like a drive shaft fan shroud a gear shifter because the pocket balls are broken on mine and some things like shift knobs choke cable so little things like that are the things that I was able to pick out of that truckload everything else is Evan's stuff he's a Jeep fanatic and collector so he's put all that stuff into storage but these are the things we're gonna need to continue the project on the 62 CJ5 so let's bring it up there [Music] one of the first things we're doing here from the pile of parts we picked up yesterday is this hood latch that's completely game over lucky enough to find in one of the barrels there a brand new set so we're just gonna switch out this one I mean it's basically gonna be the nicest thing on this Jeep right now so geez I probably should paint the rest of it now I don't know if you guys have noticed but the CJ5 has these Ultra rad seats in them actually no they're terrible they don't match the Jeep at all so the friend that gifted this Jeep gave me another gift he went to the biggest swap meet in the country in Hershey PA and Source these uh OEM seats so let's go ahead and put the right seats in the CJ5 and get rid of whatever these things are [Music] all right so these seats definitely make this Jeep feel a little bit more appropriate and like a Jeep unlike those other ones um we still were waiting for a bracketry for the passenger side seat you need to go ahead and order those so once those get here we'll get that all buttoned up and bolted in today we're going to pull the CJ5 into the bay and put her on the rack to go ahead and finish out the brakes that are locked up solid and non-existent then we're gonna go ahead and pull that crusty old carburetor off that I'm really not even sure how is even functioning still since it's been in the woods for the last several years go ahead and go through that and get it all rebuilt and then maybe get a look and glimpse of what she looks like under her chassis [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign as you see here the wheel brake cylinder is very rusted so we went ahead and pulled it off because it was all locked up for usual on the Jeep sand blasted everything to make it look as good as new [Music] once the sandblasting process was all finished we moved over to hone out the actual cylinder as they were very pitted and needed a little bit of help to make the cylinders actually work again once the wheel cylinders were honed out to a cross hatch finish it was time to take our simple rebuild kit that we got from AutoZone and put the wheel cylinders all back together to make them as good as new again all four cylinders had to go through the exact same process as they were all equally as locked up but once they were finished they were all basically brand new and ready to go back on the Jeep [Music] thank you foreign [Music] missing the entire hub assembly as well as the drum and it's sitting like it feels like years it's probably one of the reasons why maybe Parts look at this we've got to fix all that the actual brake it's coming out well we're on our way to go pull apart another CJ5 axle as this is done and there is no brake drum as well as all the bearings inside of the axle were exploded on the driver's side so here's the axle right here pull that whole guy off I mean it looks light years better than what's on there but we are going to get that all off and put her back together next up on the Jeep is fixing all the brake lines that I either broke or were leaking this one is from the rear axle and you can see it's kind of drenched there it was leaking this one under here which goes to the passenger side I broke off when I was turning the piece to get it off so I'm going to go ahead and grab this part off pull the whole line off we got to make new lines should be fun as you see here I'm using the old Robin lines as my template to bend the new brake lines into place making sure that all the lengths and bends are correct just like they were from Factory following this I cut the line off and performed a double flare to make sure that they would seal against all the fittings at all four breaks foreign foreign [Music] [Applause] once the brakes were all finished up it was time to pull off that old carburetor I've built other Carburetors in the past but this is going to be the first time that I'm rebuilding a Carter yf-1 Barrel so I needed a little coaching to get through the entire process [Music] once the carburetor was all pulled apart it was apparent that it was designed to be a very simple fuel delivery device with its Simplicity it made it very easy to get her all cleaned up and ready to go back together [Music] goodbye [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] if you're interested in more videos like this make sure you subscribe to the channel as well as like and share these videos if you're wondering where this Jeep came from make sure you
