hey friends welcome back we are back up at the cabin and we're gonna do a little bit of work on the Jeep today if you didn't catch our last Jeep video I'll put a link to it up in the iCard above you can check that out what we have is an old 1965 Jeep CJ 5 at least based on my research so far that's what it's titled as and that's what the previous owner told me it was so that's what I'm going to assume it is I have some questions about the year make and model specifically like the fender like the front fenders aren't separated from the body it's all like one piece which is really weird but it is what it is and it's not running right now and our plan is hopefully get this thing back up and running take it home to the homestead and use it on the homestead as a farm Jeep and on the weekends running around town go to the farmers market this and that run on errands I just want to make a road worthy and safe enough that we can just drive around town I don't really plan on taking it on the freeways or anything like that so last time we were here the Jeep wouldn't start because the battery was toast this thing's been I think the last time I had this Jeep runnin was about two years ago maybe three yeah I don't know so I took the dead battery out the last time we were here I bought at home I got a brand new battery to put in it the driver's side front tire was also flat so I brought that home with me as well we took that to the shop we got that repaired so first things first we're gonna get the new repaired tire put on it should be a pretty simple process then we'll throw the new battery in it will do a little bit of assessment to figure out should I actually try to start it as the air filter clean that my spill the nest in it is a full of bees don't really know so what we're gonna dig into today and see if we can maybe get this thing running today mosquitoes are bad this weekend this is pretty funny when that was I brought this tire home I went up to the local tire shop like Bell tire remember where that was called I brought this in there and I'm like hey can you guys get me a new tire cuz I think this one shot it went flat like twice now I'm me and they looked at it and they're like they're like 7.00 - l15 how old is this thing and what the heck does it come off of and I told them a little bit about the story behind it and they're like yeah they haven't made those tires and like that size tire like that for years and years and years he said it's basically like classified as like a almost like a snow tire that you would put on a trailer okay I ended up finding a different shop that they actually pulled the tire off the rim for me and there was all kinds of rust around the bead and like yeah we'll pull it off we'll grind all that rust off of there we'll put some bead sealer on it for you they fixed it up it's been holding there for month month and a half however long should be tight enough to lower it down and take them up the rest of the week [Music] and you're out in the woods you don't have jack stands MOG we're just as well back on four wheels all right wheels all tightened up let's take a look at what we got going on in here nice of them back I took some pictures I bought a little bit bigger battery then was in it a little more cold cranking ours because there was plenty of space in the battery tree for a larger larger batteries I don't have a ton of tools up here at the cabin I just have a small toolbox I keep here I think will have everything you need please see if it runs put it up make sure nothing's in the carburetor itself and spray a little carburetor cleaner down there and let it soak a lot with check out look check out a couple of other things clean and dry oil bath filter could use a bit more oil but there's no there's a dead spider in there but there's no mice in messes or anything like that so call it good enough for today needs to be addressed in the long haul for sure but ya know I'm nasty that's okay I need to get a towel anyways cuz I need to check the oil make sure it's got some oil in it before we start firing things up it's a little though about one quart low-- I think I have maybe half a quart of some 30 weight oil so we'll drop it in just as a good measure couple gallons of fuel I only brought like two gallons with me because I didn't want to overload this tank if I got to drain it later on I have two gallons of fuel I think I'm gonna turn it over and see if I even get activity out of the starter at this point see what happens yet lights when you turn the key Hey good sign so I got Rachel's back she's back from her hike now so she can give me a hand and they have her turn the key and turn it over my choke cable is completely seized so I can't really talk it with the cable I can choke it by hand and I'll spray some starter fluid in and we'll see what happens okay [Applause] you really need to know for getting spark or not no I haven't pulled the plugs yet because that we don't know for sure if the mice have damaged any of the electrical system so they come out pull a couple of the plugs and see what if I'm getting spark all right try to turn it over again yeah the spark plugs out okay again so a few more things we can look at but we are running out of some options here with what we have available to us at the cabin and pull this distributor cap off oh there's a little bit of corrosion on the rotor I don't know if that's enough to make it not get spark well I guess some sandpaper or something and clean that up a little bit so it should be a little better it's at least not black anymore okay [Applause] yes partner though it must have been that corrosion on the rotor that was causing us to not have spark double-checking all the connections obvious ones okay okay go again [Laughter] alright try try again and see [Music] about that guys [Music] raise your watch to see if we can drive it we won't go far we'll just go the end of the driveway [Music] I don't even have the battery attached yet [Applause] [Music] we have a little bit of breaks yeah yeah they're just uh probably that rust [Music] not bad 1965 been sitting for three years three years since we drove it time to take her home and get her ready yeah I don't know if we'll do it this weekend but I'm gonna get anxious too now yeah now that I know that it actually drives and it runs of the engine sounds good what that sound even is Dell gave me be bouncing I don't know there is a small exhaust leak back there but everything's all rusty all the leaf springs everything is like frozen solid together [Music] that was fine I'm excited yeah it's so exciting to drive no all right wasn't too hard took me maybe an hour hour and a half to get the whole thing done and go for a ride hope you guys enjoyed I'll leave a link over on the side to our last Jeep video and maybe we'll even make a playlist for all of these thanks for joining guys see you in the next one [Music] you
