[Music] hey everybody we've got a new member for our Wild Kratts team meet our new pal slider he's so cute you've got to bring him over to the Tortuga so I can hug him but we can Aviva his mom and the rest of his pack must be around here somewhere and our best chance of finding them is to find him fast yeah why don't you guys come out here and help us search okay but first I've got a program some other powers with creature power suits let them swim so maneuverable so flexible hey the webbing in between the bait pushing along quickly right Aviva and we need otter power suits because they could be the best creature power suits yeah and it would be really helpful in searching for sliders parents in the Cypress Swamp I'm on it [Music] hey buddy slide on over here slider let's find your family must be out here something uh he must be hungry I'm gonna get a bird's-eye view and spot some fish to catch are you kidding me Chris wants a new slide to slide on check this out slider this will be fun to slide on he's heading straight for something [Music] it's a car slider go back go back get away from that fish turn the creature slider doesn't seem to know the danger he's in hasn't anybody told him about predatory cars [Music] the car is one powerful prehistoric predator no wonder gars have been around since the time of the dinosaurs lived in this swamp I mean it's like you've never seen a guard before no to be afraid of them it just shows mammals like otters don't know everything by instinct have to learn about their habitat and what to fear they have to be taught okay well so you're an honor from the cypress swamp right then your momma should have taught you about cars I'm gonna have a chat with splash when we find her that's it bro we've got to find sliders family pack and fast they're the only ones who can teach him everything he needs to know in a Cypress Swamp hold well the only way to move faster this Swamp is with otter powers hey any luck with the otter power that a wily old Morgan it's nothing but sharks and only likes the taste of the largest and most dangerous sharks great whites Tigers white tips Makos and bulls and sharks you know we've never made an Oracle power suit even though we've had lots of adventures with them and if there is an orca with a sweet tooth for sharks we have got to meet them it's true there is this is a map of all the places over the years where that Orca has he eaten sharks we've got to find that Orca I'm scanning the map and send it to our creature pods in the Tortuga all right we're off to find the Orca who eats sharks what is this it's a map that shows where there's a shark eating orcas a shark eating water and we've got to find it okay if we take the Orca sightings and run them through the formula of probability of them that's a large sized pod of orcas hey they're checking us out listen wow you can even feel the waves and salmon let's record it and figure out what they're saying forgot how intelligent and curious killer whales are huh bro I hope Chris and Martin can see our light with all the other light producing fish around okay but I thought light bulbs made light not fish its bioluminescence some sea creatures can make two different chemicals inside a special body part called a photo form and when they mix them together they make a glowing light it's kind of like a glow stick to chemicals inside and when mixed it glows why do so many see fish shot Jimmy quick shine the light there go closer [Music] okay so I know those so a plankton glow to find each other and stick together in the deep sea that's one reason for bioluminescence communication and the deep-sea shrimp knows they do that so they're attracted to lights hoping to get a meal but finger predators know that little predators like the shrimp do this so another use of bioluminescence hunting has a built-in fishing pole Wow really who's that shrimp and there's a third use of bioluminescence defense well there are so many uses for bioluminescence it's only one of the most important chemical reactions in the sea and you know what that means I do it means I've gotta figure out bioluminescence for my next creature power suit I guess it's up to you and me to find the last crab brother we have to do everything around here Wow a dragon fish we in the jackpot bro these guys are the masters of bioluminescence they use it for everything tell me about it those photophores on the side are for communication with other dragon fish he can turn them on at will when he has something to say and the light on the tip of the barbel is sometimes used to confuse predators but mostly it's used as a fishing pole we lose that under his eyes Oh God scan this whoa it's a special red light a spy light that other fish down here can't see humans can't see it either so dragon fish have invisibility power they're like spies they can see with that light but other fish like predators and prey can't see them Wow are you thinking what I'm thinking bro I think I'm thinking what you're thinking I think we're thinking the same thing [Music] Aviva come in dragon chasers here dragon chasers we need a dragon fish suits they have the coolest bioluminescence dragon fish okay I'm already working on bioluminescence so no problem [Music] [Applause] [Music] giant isopods awesome I never thought we'd meet creatures that live on the bottom of the ocean anything could live down here how do they do it yeah what do they eat believe it or not they mostly things that sink down from above little pieces of dead things or big dead things look will fall well yeah when whale dies it sinks and becomes a feast for creatures at the bottom of the sea those guys will eat now and then they can go for four years without eating it all by then they may find another whale fall or smaller meal wow that's weird like food falling from the sky yeah and you never know when it's coming what's that awesome yeah awesome that thing must be new to science mission accomplished can we head back to earth sorry Jimmy it's a type of Dumbo octopus and deep sea remote cameras only recently captured this guy on film he's named after those ear like wings that help him swim but hardly anything else is known about this octopus it's the Spanish word for octopus you know I didn't even know this guy existed but he looks a lot like my new deep-sea vessel hey I think I just found a new name for our vessel the woeful not I'll name it after him well then I guess this guy's name should be Volvo I think he likes it whoa where are you headed it looks like this must be the minute legend Ridge it's the longest mountain range in the world but still so unexplored I've got a magnet for these underwater mountain ranges have to be home to lots of new creatures we need to explore it and who knows where Mon just might be hiding out somewhere around this underwater Mountain to hope oh nice fine Hey I think he wants us to follow him well it worked so far hey wait for us buddy well Jimmy slow down he just pounced on something octopus style oh boy we're about to witness a new behavior and a new creature power enough admit Dumbo octopus can cook not a new behavior but it is a sign that we're on the right track to find gourmand he's been here for sure I think he wants us to keep following him do you think this undersea alien of a creature is trying to lead us somewhere well octopus are super smart and this is his world so maybe he knows something we don't show us the way Papo [Music] Jimmy just a little more time and we win this game if we just stay away from rocks and away from the surface we'll get past level one number one are you in your video game mode whoo I just think we're winning this thing oh is this predator action I mean I don't know but this is like fish mobili okay we've gotta burn it up in a bowl just like the Dolphins do it oh yeah they like it now let's start moving the fish up towards the surface and cut off their escape routes that's perfect Chris they're starting to leap to get away and I'm ready to catch a fish reveal dolphin style we're gonna have to leap for it it's the only way then let's do it together at least one of us should get away [Music] got you this time Koki okay okay fine but Jimmy got away and you guys are almost out of time [Music] wait no easy dolphins we're just playing the game swim Jimmy swim Wow even the pelicans want in on the action hella kids are smart birds they know an opportunity for food when they see one they're attracted to the bait ball oh no Jimmy is it [Music] buddy you're acting strange why are you stuffing a sponge into the sand dolphin who likes to clean up that's the first looking for something echolocation engaged who can find it first whatever it is nothing but sand underneath more sand you sure there's something around here amazing that's what she uses is to protect her nose when she shovels in the rough sand hey I was just about to find that fish [Music] communication alert we're having trouble getting read on Martin's location I had a signal but it's disappeared disappear how was that possible I don't know but unless I picked it up it was to the east let's head in that direction see if we can find him yeah well spread out [Music] still out there was i know sharks and orcas they're your only natural predator especially for baby dolphins still not able to transmit from inside this wreck maybe if I can just get out open not a bad place for a splash landing whoa okay so now it looks like we'll be doing this adventure good thing we came prepared yeah there are so many different kinds of amazing life forms on the beach you mean like these guys seahorses seahorses turns out you arrived regular horses well huh our plans kind of changed we're checking out seahorses now you know I've always wondered about seahorses yeah me too with a head like a horse and it's got a prehensile tail like a monkey what are they okay I'll tell ya but you better sit down for this [Music] seahorses are they fell over anyway maybe we should have told him to sit on the floor yeah next time what do you mean seahorses are fish how can a seahorse be a fish I'll show you okay then what mother nature did was take this fish and change its head and then stretch it out so it was more like this and then bent the body down this way and then it still changed from a swimming tail go tell the King what happened so a seahorse looks pretty different but it's still a kind of fish and there's a reason for the seahorses unique shape doesn't swim all over the place like most other fish it swims small distances by moving its little dorsal fin back and forth but most of the time the seahorse uses its prehensile tail to grab onto grasses and coral and just hang that on to food floats by but it's still kind of weird so it's body design is perfect for its way of living exactly hey that doesn't mean we have to stop riding horses let's ride these guys Martin there's seahorses and they're tiny okay so I'll give her seahorses smaller name I'll call you ocean pony and then we can miniaturize and ride whoa wait a second you guys shouldn't just use miniaturization technology for playing around this is serious technology well of course we have to do research on the short snout and seahorse hippocampus hippocampus to explore how this seahorse um interacts with other inhabitants of the coral reef system yes of course excellent bro uh-huh yeah uh-huh when you to play around with technology something usually goes wrong you're going to use the miniaturizer you'd better get a lot of info on seahorses I'm going to prep my invention safe procedures power disc creation see that round thing at the top of the starfish lots of people think it's an AI but it's not it's a way for the starfish to get water into its bodies that whole system of water filled tubes is the way that the starfish moves its arms and activates its little power suckers see it works with water power and when the starfish wants to release the suckers the water system helps with that - that was not my idea of relaxing but Jimmy you didn't even have to get out of your chair okay they should do it every intertidal creature needs a way to deal with the crushing waves and a muscle holds on with sticky rope like threads that attached to rocks all right all set bring on the waves hey Dawg whelks come here boys come on come here doggies cool a dog mouth is a totally different kind of snail than the limpet these guys don't eat algae they're predators they eat things like clams barnacles it uh-oh mussels okay doggies nice doggies down doggies [Music] oh no not your Sharp drill a tongue he's really not hole in that muscle shell the shell is no protection from these guys injecting the digestive juices that'll turn the muscle into a soupy mix that he can just slurp up with his straw like Tom oh man it is tough out here you fasten yourself to a rock to deal with the waves but it makes you an easy meal for the Predators no no no please don't make us soup out of me I can't move ah the downside to sticky threads sticky threads I almost forgot that's the muscles defense against dog whelks thanks Nolan hmm I'm gonna have to find a way to get mobile fast tights almost back up again they both made it through high tide and low tide yep it looks like it's going to be a race to the finish line chris is host of the martin but they're both stuck as creatures that don't move we gave them the new starfish step great now we'd better get to the finish line this could get interesting come on starfish I'm a tasty barnacle a starfish favorite uh-uh-uh oh yeah Aviva finish the starfish power discs just in time that's right come on buddy activate starfish power yes mobile finish line here I come don't worry buddy if I ever get out of here I'll cut you loose before I go if I don't find a way out of here soon Martin's gonna win this challenge ah I need a little luck here yes something coming my way oh no it's Martin hey Chris see you at the finish line this should be a good spot to find the Martin oh yeah oh I hope we got here in time yeah they should be coming out right about now no sign yet so now we wait they're everywhere [Music] you mean these colorful things are creatures they look like flowers oh yeah they're animals all right every one of them is a creature and check it out the hard rocky part is their skeleton see they build a skeleton outside their bodies and they can hide inside it protect it until they're ready to come in you mean this whole reef is made of the skeletons of these little guys that's right polyps skeleton built on polyps skeleton built on more polyp skeletons for millions of years and now millions of creatures live here even amongst the coral more different types of sea creatures than any other ocean habitat yeah but we know these reefs are fragile habitat and if we're going to do our annual reef checkup to make sure it's healthy we better get to it okay let's get in there for a closer look guys close enough Oh bro you just got harpooned what harpooned you have to zoom in with a microscope to see it a polyp shot that tiny needle-like harpooned from his tentacle that's how they hunt for food hey what do you are booting me for I'm not food ah here comes some stuff that's probably tastier than you ultra zoom on that's what they love to eat amphipods sea star the harpoons ready for launch oh he did it he scored some watch wheels it in with his harpoon and the tentacles pushes a little meal to his mouth right down there in the center Wow I like these little guys and all this time I thought coral is just a bunch of rocks hey what are you doing leave that Carl alone those fish are destroying the reef so that's why the coral reefs are disappearing those repeating fish not so fast they're parrotfish Aviva and they're not white the reefs are in trouble check it out he's scraping algae off the coral with his hard beak and eating it and he does kill and even eat some polyps while he's at it but he's also keeping the algae from taking over and choking out the reef [Music] so you see it's all balanced parrotfish are part of a healthy reef okay that's good because coral reefs have enough problems with pollution and stuff without any new dangers palma de that's right after all a lot of creatures depend on these guys without them the reef wouldn't even exist one kilogram this is bored besides we're used to sea before all the big ones were hunted out whoa walks pretty slow for a creature with one two three four five six seven eight eight legs well he does have to carry that big tail how do you do that the big tail flicks and the lobster shoots backwards that big tail is full of muscles that flex and sweep the water forward that pushes the lobster backwards for a quick getaway that is so cool powerful tail muscles contracts causing the fan-like tail to push water forward instantly propelling the lobster backwards through the water but fast eagle on it [Music] I'm not interested in any Whittier woofster that would fit into due to ants I'm looking for the last largest lobster another one seemed size and neither one is gonna back down and I think we're gonna find out how they use their claws the squeeze of lobster is so powerful if our hands were that strong we could crush a walnut with just the squeeze but why are the two claws different one sleek and thin one big and bulky the big one the crusher that is used for crushing things Wow the little one in turn is used for ripping and tearing quads quads and more clogs I didn't know what lobster was so strong a regular muscle head and stubborn what am I gonna call you hmm I want to activate a creature power over here I'll name you red crush see he just wanted a name I think that's called a coincidence you just don't understand the mind of a lobster okay well here's something you'll understand it's time to activate creature powers [Music] Oh feel the strength the tale ready to rock it backwards the claws whoa really strong lobster powers are awesome the way a grouper you didn't puffy puffy it's you you're all blowing up like a giant spiky water balloon nice defense oh baby now we've got a problem it's a great defense and most fish know never to mess with a Blowfish but for those that don't sometimes Blowfish can get stuck inside a groupers mouth and then both fish could die hang on puffy we'll get you out of there okay trooper you might feel a prick if only puffy could deflate just a little bit you scare if you de place at all trooper might swallow it well these guys believe anything it's not working Martin I'm going in going in we're through to the gills no you're not I'll push you pull okay just remember one wrong move and your lunch ready Burton ready go [Music] amazing that he can blow up three times his size and look now this grouper knows never mess with a little fish it's a fish-eat-fish world out here yeah and only the fish with good protection survive well looks like we're getting a turtle back tour of the reef hey there's blimpy the Blowfish oh yeah and her old buddy ocean pony miss seahorse and hey there's uh I don't remember him yeah that's because he's somebody new [Applause] [Music] the Tigers are skating oh mercy turtle is using a shell like a shield that's what I'm gonna name you seal [Music] but how long can she'll keep this up look at these teeth based on size tiger shark jaws are even stronger than the great white sharks jaws that shark gets the shell in his mouth or a flipper in his mouth shield is not horns [Music] [Music] whoo that was close and another great defense for the hawksbill sea turtle hiding in the reef yeah and that's why you hogs bills are reef turtles so they can use the coral reef structure to feed them and hide them yeah the shield defense is great when Hawks ball is caught out in the open but the surefire plan is to hide out in the protection of the reef hey Aviva did you catch that turtle power action oh yeah they saw it so Aviva you up for a little turtle power suit programming yeah that was the incredible nice shield work I never knew sea turtles were so maneuverable we saw it all thanks to the amazing fish cam I guess I made the fish cam a little too fish-like maybe a little but hey guys good news we finished modifying the Tortuga for underwater travel so get up here and we'll take it for a test drive cool great we'll be right there as soon as she'll tells us the coast is clear great all clear let's get back to the meter treasurer get back to real size yeah I think we should have a new bottom only one shark attack per day I'm with you bro [Music] let's get out of here before that target shark comes back [Music]
