could you imagine Wii U games on Nintendo switch uh there are more Wii U games on Nintendo switch than Nintendo switch games I kid but for a while there near the launch of the Nintendo switch it started to really feel that way especially in a year like 2018 where it felt like there were more games that originated on the Wii U releasing than fully brand new Nintendo switch games the Wii U was dot dot dot guess what failure it's a failure but there is a decent amount of very high quality games are released on it so what did Nintendo do to really kind of make back their investment on those games plus get more of an audience for them put them on their far more successful modern Home console uh it made all the sense in the world of course uh didn't stop people like me from bitching I already played most of these games so uh being able to play them on Nintendo switch while really cool and something that I was definitely up for uh they were kind of replacing uh new games in Nintendo's release library for the Nintendo switch for a while there uh let's see in 2018 we got Bayonetta 2 uh Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition captain Toad treasure Tracker and then in terms of new games cough now of course in the end this ended up working in Nintendo's favor uh most people didn't even know Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze existed so putting that out on Nintendo switch you know hey you did Humanity a solid that's one of the greatest games of all time but of course it does make me wonder you know what what's the Wii U's Legacy after this pretty much all of its must-have games are on the switch in potentially a better form factor now a few games may be a little better on Wii U but for the most part pretty much all Wii U ports on Nintendo switch run better look better have more content play better all of that you know what's the point of buying a Wii U now and of course why does that matter it's a 10 year old system why should Nintendo care about the value of buying a system they're not producing anymore but I kind of care about that I think it does matter in the grand scheme of things from the historic point of view like hey what did this system bring us now the fact that barely anybody bought the Wii U and the fact that all of its games are pretty much available on Nintendo switch it just kind of makes me look at it like it's just like all right why should somebody invest in a Wii U these days uh yes there are still a fair amount of games that are still exclusive to the Wii U and many of which are probably staying exclusive so I thought I'd go through some of the most noteworthy Wii U exclusives that have not come to Nintendo switch uh most likely won't come to Nintendo switch or even some that probably will at some point and just talk about maybe the problems with bringing certain games over to the platform or also why it seems pretty likely it'll come over and first up might as well go over the sole reasons not to own a Wii U Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games these make me want to get rid of the console because I think most people can obviously tell why these probably will not come to Nintendo switch because they're frankly outdated they have the damn years of the Olympic Games they're based on in the title plus we already have Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games on Nintendo switch of course you know they're all different games but are they no matter how different each Mario and Sonic game is uh they they always kind of feel like they're meant to replace the previous version and many times like it kind of feels like they just put out new ones to kind of coincide with the release of the new Olympic Games as kind of a marketing tool rather than oh man we desperately need to put out a new Mario and Sonic game think of the fans what wondrous things can we do with this brand new game like no it's meant to be like oh Rio 2016 Olympics are coming up let's put out a new Mario and Sonic game to coincide with it now are these bad games uh well these in particular are probably some of the worst I wouldn't call them like inherently bad like you don't immediately look at them and go wow that that that [ __ ] stinks they look fine play fine all of that but it's just like man on the Wii U these games are just like miserable to go through at least Olympic winter games like like this game uses the GamePad in such stupid ways it has you swap between pretty much all the control schemes you have to swap between the GamePad the Wii remote the Wii Remote and nunchuck it's just it gets frustratingly annoying but then Rio 2016 uh kind of fixes a lot of those control annoyances but it just this one has no soul at least in previous Mario and Sonic games those had Dream Events that that were kind of these really cool Mario and Sonic takes on Olympic events so so they actually felt like like Mario sports games like Mario Kart and funky items and wacky locations to play in all of that stuff Rio 2016 was the first game in the series to just lack them all together it's literally just a sports minigame collection and it is just so vapid but yeah due to the GamePad use in this one uh and then just how this one's people like outdated and so was this one and someone's probably aren't coming over to the Nintendo switch I think it would be kind of like cool if they did you know just because there's the year in in these games titles I I think it would be cool if they just did like a collection uh not necessarily because I desperately need these games on Nintendo switch more so just for preservation purposes I just think it's really cool to be able to play like games like these on more modern platforms that you know are probably going to be uh pretty future proof so as much as I'd love to be wrong these games remain Wii U exclusives well you want to talk about real heartbreak Mario Party 10 the only Mario Party on Wii uh it's very interesting how some of Nintendo's most party oriented consoles uh barely had any Mario parties you know the Wii which was like Prime real estate for Mario Party Mayhem and you only got two you got Mario Party eight and nine most systems like the GameCube you got [ __ ] four and then the Wii U we only got Mario Party 10. what a crime Mario Party 10 relies heavily on the Wii U gamepad at least in its big mode Bowser party that's a mode where one player is playing as Bowser while the other four are playing a standard Mario Party characters playing on a standard Mario Party board and when I say standard Mario Party board I mean a standard Mario Party board in the sense of Mario Party 9 which also means uh a pile of [ __ ] [ __ ] and Mario Party 9 changes up the Mario Party formula uh definitely for the worse uh that game is not fun the game boards are linear and they aren't fun they aren't they just they they don't include a fun they're [ __ ] not fun and they brought that bag for Mario party 10. uh so while the Bowser party idea is is kind of cool it's wasted in this game uh not only is the fact that like man playing the game without Bowser is not fun because like I said it's not fun Bowser party is just that mode but Bowser is constantly chasing you and there's only like 10 mini games that happen all of those mini games feature you know Bowser which is you know the player on the Wii U gamepad trying to beat the other characters uh and they only have 10 of them or so so like they repeat very often it gets really repetitive and just like like why why are there only 10 Bowser party mini games this is like the big mode on the front of the box yet you don't invest into it the standard Mario party mode is very basic in this game it's just the same as Mario Party 9 uh which is just like a really short game board Lenny area is just one direction to go all your characters are just in a car I don't I don't need to explain this to you have you ever seen garbage while you're looking at it now then there's also amiibo party which uses your amiibo figures uh and that plays more like regular Mario party you know from Mario Party one to eight but the problem is the the game board's an amiibo party just a [ __ ] square there's no strategy on where to go it's it's literally like yeah I just rolled the dice and move around the board it's damn Candy Land that's all it is Mario Party 9 and 10 it's pretty much just Candyland in terms of how the board is laid out how regular Mario Party games are you have different paths to take you can kind of choose while you do have to depend on the luck of the dice you do have strategy there there's no strategy in these games and because of the use of the Wii U gamepad in this game how that's kind of this game's big identity yeah I don't really see this one coming to Nintendo switch also because we already have Mario Party games on Nintendo switch and they kind of do the job of Mario Party 10 fine enough now speaking of horrible [ __ ] stupid [ __ ] party games [ __ ] Animal Crossing amiibo Festival yeah this ain't coming over this was pretty much always used as an excuse just to make animal crossing amiibo on the Wii U just just shove something out that holiday season that was in Animal Crossing related be able to make animal crossing amiibo and it didn't work everybody knew this game was horrible from the second they saw the trailer the concept had potential of an Animal Crossing party game but watching the trailer like nothing was exciting nothing looked interesting and compelling and while this game isn't entirely terrible uh it is I mean it has some solid little ideas in there and some of the mini games are kind of fun but I feel like the only chance this game had to come to Nintendo switch was via like Animal Crossing New Horizons as a side mode it may sound weird but they did this for Animal Crossing new Leaf uh New Leaf got an update in 2016 that enabled the use of the amiibo introduced for for amiibo festival and also the 3DS game happy home designer because uh you know these weren't pushing units and that update included a bunch of new content for New Leaf outside of the functionality including a side mode where you could buy like a video game console for your house you could put it in and then you could start playing some mini games one of them was like Animal Crossing puzzle League the other was Desert Island Escape which was from Animal Crossing amiibo festival and that was generally considered like one of the best things from amiibo Festival so it's very obvious to me that the developers heard that okay uh people hated most of this game they tolerated Desert Island Escape so they put that in Animal Crossing New Leaf as a cute little mini game to play and the game's pretty much all there so it ain't unheard of for them to put like Animal Crossing spin-offs in the mainline games because they just did it with Animal Crossing New Horizons they put pretty much happy home designer into that game as paid DLC with happy home Paradise so amiibo festival's only chance at coming to Nintendo switch was as a side mode in New Horizon Horizons at this point I mean like they might still do it but I I just don't really see any point to it Nintendo's kind of done pushing amiibo they kind of just release amiibo to release amiibo whenever they kind of feel like it if they invested in like an actual Animal Crossing party game one that didn't require amiibo and one that was actually fun I'd be super down for that and even if he used kind of amiibo Festival as a base but actually kind of work to build something actually compelling out of it that's really the only way I can imagine amiibo festival working on Nintendo switch not requiring amiibo actually building a new game out of it which is something Nintendo has done quite a bit on Nintendo switch so a couple of Nintendo's Wii U games actually received sequels on Nintendo switch but it's very obvious those sequels were very much built off of the Wii U game and thus it's fair to call the Nintendo switch sequels to be basically Replacements so at that point like really is there really any need for report so Mario 10 is ultra smash uh was was basically just a damn game demo and disguise as a 50 game and it wore that disguised very well because it was a 50 game on Nintendo switch three years later we got Mario Tennis Aces uh which had some problems with a lack of content but was noticeably an improvement over Mario Tennis Ultra smash over time that game got enough free updates to the point where like yeah it wasn't just a noticeable improvement over Mario Tennis Ultra smash it was a huge improvement over it still had some problems here and there but a pretty good Mario sports game at the end of the day most of the content came over from Mario Tennis Ultra smash though Mario Tennis Ultra smash still has like some little modes here and there Mega Ball rally anyone they also have the mega mushroom thing you can't do that in Mario Tennis Aces yeah that's point one for [ __ ] garbage yeah so Mari Tennessee's isn't like a direct Port there are some technical things that Ultra smash has but those things were pretty much just like the bare minimum to put Mario Tennis Ultra smash out in time for the 2015 holiday season the things Ultra smash has are are pretty much just like oh this was doable in the time frame they were given to make it seem like this game has content oh mega mushroom stuff uh Mega Ball rally the spritzy princess nothing compelling at all it would have been kind of cool if Mario Tennis has included all these things uh but it doesn't but who gives a [ __ ] Super Mario Maker now this is very interesting because Mario Maker 2 is noticeably better in many ways however Mario Maker 1 I think still has a lot of value and in many ways is superior to Mario Maker 2. it's just more fun and more intuitive to build levels in Mario Maker 1. uh using the Wii U gamepad is perfect for this game while in Mario Maker 2 I feel like the user interface is a complete step down when you're building levels on the TV it is gruesome using the controller to build these stages in handheld mode it's better but it's still just it doesn't feel very good Everything feels too claustrophobic Everything feels too too closed in Mario Maker one it's just it's really fast and fun to build levels and then on top of that like one of the big things the mystery mushroom costumes having hundreds of Nintendo characters so video game characters non-video game characters all this random stuff that you can just you can play as all these random characters in the Mario Brothers 1 art style like that was so compelling and like yeah they were functionally the same as Mario they didn't do anything different with them but that meant a lot to level creation being able to play as Hello Kitty meant a lot because then if you wanted to make a Hello Kitty themed course I mean you were set and Mario Maker 2 added quite a bit but uh it just didn't really left me feeling as fulfilled as as the original Mario Maker one left me feeling uh when that originally launched however at the end of the day Mario Maker 2 does a pretty good job kind of replacing the need for a Mario Maker one port and then we also have Splatoon one which does have a lot of unique content uh the the battle Dojo anyone the local multiplayer mode in Splatoon one where you're popping balloons where the hell is that in Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3 and arms Splatoon one is a different game than Splatoon 2. Splatoon 2 is a different game from Splatoon 3. however the Splatoon series is very much kind of like a thing where at least in my opinion when the new one comes out there you go that's like all right everybody's playing that now however for Die Hard Splatoon players uh there is reason to play Splatoon one over two and three you know mechanics are slightly different I'd say the GamePad worked incredibly well for Splatoon it felt very intuitive to touch the screen to where you want to spawn and when you're loading a multiplayer game uh you get to play squid jump on the GamePad which is one of the most ingenious uses of loading screens the game was just best however while Splatoon 1 is its own game it has its own single player campaign all of that Splatoon 2 was basically like a replacement for it uh yeah the single player is different in Splatoon 2 but at the end of the day while uh Splatoon single player is always a fine enough time pretty fun uh it a lot of the time like it's generally not like the most like memorable outside of like a stage here and there like the final boss in Splatoon one was really memorable for me outside of that like I don't really remember much I remember it being really well designed and fun but I'm not really hankering to replay Splatoon one single player mode if I'm hankering to play Splatoon single player I'll play like Splatoon 2's octo expansion or Splatoon 3 single player mode and finally we have Super Smash Brothers for Wii U which has pretty much been completely eclipsed by Super Smash Brothers ultimate that was pretty much the best possible outcome for a Smash Brothers on Nintendo switch every character return turns basically every single stage and they're all remastered to look beautiful full single player campaign brand new modes uh all kinds of stuff huge amount of new characters including DLC absolutely fantastic at the end of the day but Super Smash Brothers for Wii uh it's done game very similar to all these other ones but definitely more so than all these other ones there are loads of modes that are only in Smash for Wii U many of which that people consider to be the Antichrist himself a lot of people don't like smash tour the the board game mode I think it can be kind of dumb fun that probably lets you in on more of my psyche than I think you should know about but there's a bunch of other modes that I feel like are sorely missing in Smash ultimate something like uh Master orders and crazy orders those are a great time in Smash for Wii U trophies are in this game and while Spirits in Smash ultimate do offer a lot of content and and a lot of very obscure Nintendo references uh there's just something about trophies in Smash Brothers games that's so much more appealing in a different way I I do like spirits but uh they were definitely not perfect in Smash Brothers ultimate they were not like this Perfect Replacement uh they they almost kind of felt like their own separate thing that did the General job of trophies but trophies and Smash Brothers I mean those are hard to be there are some stages that are only in this game some great stages like jungle hijinks uh from Donkey Kong Country Returns the Yoshi's woolly World stage or Bill Gate assault the stage builder in this game while it's not great has its own little dumb quirks and charms with the fact that you draw it on the GamePad and see it appear on screen and of course many of these things in Smash ultimate have Alternatives or improved versions but uh it doesn't mean like they're exactly the same as the Smash Wii U version but just added upon many times they're different or they they lack some content even though they add a bunch more the characters in this game are very similar to smash ultimate uh you know they they've been changed quite a bit from both games and also the gameplay of this game while you know at the end of the day all Smash Brothers games are Smash Brothers games uh hey it's it's still different here there's a reason why pretty much everybody has moved on to smash ultimate and has left this game in the dust but hey the mechanics are still different in this game so while ultimate is a perfect replacement for Smash Wii uh there is still a reason to go back to Smash Wii U so uh these games I don't see them being ported to Nintendo switch there's genuinely no reason for it outside of like a cool element of like preservation or Nostalgia it's really strange to say like oh man people are nostalgic over Wii U games but it's just like the damn system's 10 years old I think it would be really cool to see kind of like compilations of some games like this just maybe like a Wii U collection or something where you have uh Wii U games uh brought over of course that would be very difficult to do considering many Wii U games heavily utilize the GamePad so you can't really bring them over without tweaking things heavily and at that point you know why not just make a new game which is what they did in these regards but these are unique games that may have Replacements on switch but these versions are still at the very least somewhat unique and it would be cool to see them preserved in some way but I ain't losing sleep over it and I don't want to have a word with the person that's losing sleep over this Star Fox Zero and Star Fox guard released as a double pack here pretty much these are two separate games uh kind of taking place in the same universe and general timeline blah whatever like the Star Fox guard is fundamentally a separate mode in Star Fox Zero that was released as its own disc but you got them both in one bundle you got two games for the price of get the hell away from this stuff these aren't great games I know they have their Defenders and uh yeah you know I'll definitely give them credit where credit's due but these aren't my favorites uh and on top of that they're a little too Wii UI to work on Nintendo switch uh specifically a game like Star Fox guard this was designed fully around the idea of using the two screens of the Wii U it's pretty much a tower defense game where you have control of multiple security cameras you can swap between them on the GamePad the problem is while you can see General previews of all the screens only one of them you have like the full camera angle in control of at once so the one in the middle is being played at like full 60 frames per second while the others are just General preview so you want to keep an eye on everything and swap between them before the robot enemies get to the middle of your base incredibly simple concept incredibly simple game overall it does have some depth it's well designed uh it's just not the most exciting it can get pretty boring very quickly in my opinion it's best played in short bursts which does make me ask like why was this its own separate disc like I said I feel like it would have worked really well as like just something on the menu of Star Fox Zero it randomly has like a decent amount of content to it it's just the content is pretty much the same thing throughout the entire game just kind of ramped up level to level you can create your own levels in the game which pretty much just amounts to placing the enemies and cameras where you want to put them it's definitely a pretty solid experience albeit nothing too exciting Star Fox Zero on the other hand is definitely more exciting uh but a lot more flawed this game was designed fully around the idea of like hey let's take the Wii U gamepad and let's improve Star Fox with it they crippled it in the process so obviously a big problem with this game that many people including myself have uh with it is the control setup the control setup is really hard to get used to and once you get used to it the game you've already played through it like twice so it takes longer to get used to the controls than the game itself is in length which is a problem and while many people have said like well once you get used to the controls like everything starts clicking with the game I get that but I personally feel like the game itself outside of the controls just already isn't that great it's a lackluster retelling of Star Fox 64 in my opinion it's not like a full-on remake or remaster of that game but it's just so damn similar it's basically retelling the same story and it's just not very interesting to me which is why when some people have said like oh what if they Port Star Fox Zero to the switch and they rework the controls I don't think that's gonna fit takes a lot I think sure you get rid of the controller frustrations but I feel like that's just gonna make the flaws with the general gameplay and game design that much more apparent and it's also going to make you question like it's just like okay well like what's the point of this game now at least with the bad controls you can say well the point was to just piss me off love them or hate him the Wii U gamepad controls for this game is pretty much its entire identity without those controls like I see no point to this game so with that I just say like just make a new Star Fox for Wii U you can reuse assets from zero even though I don't think this game is a great one to pull assets from there are some elements of it that look nice and run good but uh overall like I just don't really care for this game's aesthetic I would really love to see them just do something different with Star Fox but yeah I personally don't see these games coming over I think it makes much more sense to create brand new Star Fox games or put the franchise on the back burner for a little bit until something news figured out because Star Fox just hasn't really evolved unfortunately when it tried to evolve with games like Star Fox Adventures and Star Fox assault that was generally met with kind of like in Star Fox Adventures is a good game it's just not really a Star Fox game and Star Fox assault was actually a Star Fox game but it took some inspiration from Star Fox Adventures with the third person on foot stuff and turned that into more of like a general star foxy kind of thing and even then a lot of people were like I don't want Star Fox on what I want him in a plane but it's just like at the end of the day it makes a lot more sense to have that extra Variety in the game uh because Star Fox Zero is so short and just kind of feels like like what was the point of that you need that variety this kind of game I don't really think works in the context of a sixty dollar modern day video game on store shelves so I think they kind of need to do something new with Star Fox and I think porting it to Nintendo switch and giving it standard trolls I think it would just kind of show a lot of the flaws with Star Fox Zero much more now when we're talking about games that were crippled by the Wii U gamepad uh this is one of the big ones Paper Mario Color Splash now it's pretty wild like Not only was the General gameplay of this game not what any Paper Mario fan wanted but they decided to deliver it in one of the worst ways humanly possible by forcing you to use the Wii U gamepad to go through cards to play in battle yeah that was one of the stupidest things a Nintendo game has ever done uh Color Splash though I really enjoy I find that I end up having a lot of passion for games that I can very much tell aren't perfect uh but in many ways that kind of makes me love them even more like for a recent example I've been playing a lot of Sonic Frontiers lately and I don't think anybody will disagree that game is not perfect it has flaws it has some blemishes but uh just the fact that it's it's rough around the edges and not perfect oddly makes me like it a lot more than just games that are really more polished and and more well-rounded a game like Splatoon 3 or something there's just more to talk about with Sonic Frontiers there's more to discuss and I just kind of find that paper Mario Color Splash is similar where this game is very flawed but uh I don't know I kind of end up liking it a bit more than something like Paper Mario the origami King which uh you know is probably a slightly better game but I think something that could easily be fixed about this game is the Wii U gamepad requirement no matter what you have to play this game with the Wii U gamepad and when you go into a battle you have to look up and down at the TV screen and the gamepad screen all of your attacks and actions and all of that are displayed via cards that you have to grab via the touch screen bring them up uh paint them with with your paint uh to power them up and then flick them onto the TV screen there's about like three steps there that you really shouldn't have to be required to do they're completely Superfluous things that the game designers just forced onto you because they thought like well this will make it interesting but this is an RPG a very light RPG at the end of the day but an RPG nonetheless I mean I guess the best way to put it is it's an adventure game with turn-based RPG like battles so you're gonna be doing these a lot it's not like you can just kind of like oh man I'm gonna defeat this enemy real quick once you get powered up enough yeah sure but for the most part you're going to be going through hundreds maybe even thousands of battles in this game and in fact you have to do that for every single one it is grading and that's not even talking about the design of the battle system itself and how that's flawed I'm just talking about controlling the damn thing but weirdly enough there is a feature in the game to play entirely just on the GamePad and that method shows exactly how the game can work on just one screen I don't think anybody can Will debate how the game is playable on just one screen like from a feasibility point of view it's not like a game like Nintendo land where it's just like I mean maybe you could play that on one screen but like it's gonna be damn hard and you're gonna change a lot of what the game is Paper Mario Color Splash nobody's arguing that you can play this on one screen they just don't let you win this game you just consolidate everything to the TV screen take all the cards put them up on top there's no reason why this shouldn't work and in my opinion I think it would make color splash a much better game that was such a huge annoyance with the title uh they do give you some options on how you control the battles there's like touch controls Advanced touch controls and button controls and I always pick button controls because I never liked like oh controlling the game with the buttons and all that and then oh my god battle time I'm all right I'm gonna move my hand and move stuff around with the touchscreen and then all right so I just did my touchscreen stuff now move my hands back to the buttons and then do this or I move my hands back to the touchscreen move my hands back to the bottom it was ridiculous so I picked button control on that definitely did help things but on top of that moving everything to one screen would help this game a lot it wouldn't make it perfect but it would make it a hell of a lot more enjoyable now of course Paper Mario the origami King already came to switch and that one pretty much uses a lot of color splash's uh aesthetic and pretty much engine so I feel like it's fair to kind of look at that as like oh that's color splash's replacement or equivalent on switch but they are very different games origami King and color splash are quite different at the end of the day so I I feel like when it comes time where origami King has been out for long enough so it's not like a paper Mario Color Splash Port is really going to take any thunder away from it I feel like this could make Sense on switch it's just an easy thing to Port over easily fill a gap in the release schedule and also piss everybody off because you're porting Paper Mario Color Splash and not remaking in game like Paper Mario 64 the Thousand Year Door that'll be really fun this one's hard to gauge Kirby and the Rainbow Curse so this can work on switch very easily though I'm not really sure how necessary it is to bring this game over because uh you know it's just kind of there the best thing about this game Bar None are the visuals they are glorious uh probably one of the best looking games maybe of all time in my opinion just from an art Direction standpoint I think this game looks incredible the claymation art style was absolutely nailed in this game and I just think it is so cool to see everything in motion so cool to see the Kirby World in this clay style especially the fact that it's animated so well it's not done in like a cheap way or it's not done in a stupid way or anything like that it's just they it's perfect the music's great the game design it works good you know like it's it's a sequel to Canvas curse on the Nintendo DS which was a really cool idea pretty much Kirby's a ball and you just move him with the touch screen you create a line for him to follow it's an incredibly unique gameplay mechanic but that's about as far as my praise for the game goes and it's not like I don't like this game it's not like there are like glaring flaws it's more so just it's just kind of there it's an oddly forgettable game I played in beat it the day it came out and then afterwards I forgot I even beat the game like I I kind of look back at games that came out in 2015 and I thought like oh yeah it's a fine game like a seven out of 10. but I just don't really see it really doing much for anybody coming over to switch I mean I'll take it I wouldn't I wouldn't say no to it but it's just it doesn't leave that much of an impact outside of the visuals and of course it can work well on switch you know the switch does have a touch screen so if you're playing in handheld mode this game works fine outside of handheld mode though that's where it gets a little tricky uh of course I feel like the whole mechanic at drawing lines you can do that pretty easily with a thumbstick it's not going to be as intuitive but you can do it and of course on top of that you can also use a gyro pointer to uh draw the the rainbow lines that that's definitely possible but taking how clunky that is into consideration in terms of being like the the only way to control this game I I feel like it's something that just doesn't really make much sense to really uh put the time and effort into bringing over to switch uh for it to end up just not working the greatest on a TV screen and I also feel like using my finger in this game just wouldn't be as enjoyable as with a stylus and of course many Nintendo switch games have been bundled with styluses I mean you just take a look at something like brain training in Europe that came with a stylus but I feel like there's a few too many asterisks with this game to really be that viable on the Nintendo switch without a bit of work now that doesn't mean they wouldn't put that work in but uh I don't know I just feel like with how just whatever this game is at the end of the day there's a bit too many things stopping it from being like a pure no-brainer on switch it could totally work on switch but I just don't really think it's that viable on the platform now this little bastard I love this game Yoshi's woolly World genuinely one of the best best Yoshi games of all time it may just Eclipse Yoshi's Island which is the default best Yoshi game of all time one of the best Platformers of all time and Yoshi's Island is definitely probably you know the better game because Yoshi's woolly world is pretty derivative of it it's just a good Yoshi's Island Style game but it's just so just Jolly to play this game it is just so enjoyable from the Aesthetics to the gameplay music all of that it just all comes together to be just like one of the most like heartwarming gaming experiences I've ever had just sit down in like a nice blanket and playing Yoshi's woolly world is just so enjoyable it all clicks but of course this game was ported to the Nintendo 3DS in 2017 with poochin Yoshi's woolly World which is a phenomenal Port it's shocking to me that this being one of the best looking Wii U games of all time worked so well on the 3DS they they really Translate today incredibly well where of course yeah like it's gonna look downgraded but like it still looks like Yoshi's woolly World they did a phenomenal job Translating that game to a horrible screen but I feel like that Port kind of stopped them from doing uh Yoshi's woolly World on switch in addition to the fact they were already working on a new Yoshi game pretty much a follow-up to woolly World Yoshi's crafted world that game is no replacement for this this ain't a Splatoon 2 Mario Maker 2 Mario Tennis or smash ultimate situation now this is like these are completely different games crafted world isn't even like a 2d platformer it's kind of like this weird four directional 2.5 d pseudo 3D platformer the art design while you know going for a similar Vibe is still completely different the music is genuinely worse and the mechanics are completely different the level designs are completely different the story is different everything's different in crafted world even if they give off similar Vibes of like oh man arts and crafts Yoshi so crafted world is no replacement for woolly World which is why I desperately hope that we've waited long enough since crafted world so we can finally get to the real man's game woolly world is incredible I absolutely love it and I would love to see just kind of a deluxe port on switch that includes everything from the Wii U version the 3DS version puts them all into one I think that would be phenomenal there's no reason why this wouldn't work on switch it's a 2d platformer barely uses the Wii U gamepad if at all I can't remember anything they used it so yeah this would work flawlessly on switch I'm my fingers are crossed man the NES remix games and to another extent a couple of the eShop Wii U games stuff like Dr Luigi pushmo World pretty much everything would work perfectly fine on Nintendo's switch it's just kind of a matter of like will they do it the NES Remix games I would love to see come over these are such fun bite-sized little pickup and play games I don't really see why Nintendo wouldn't do this because like yeah these should be pretty basic to bring over they brought it over to 3DS with ultimate NES Remix I think it'll be great to see this series return I always thought this series was like a really good idea for just kind of a gap filler in Nintendo's release schedule because right now on Nintendo switch Nintendo was pumping out so many games but many times it kind of feels like they they just publish a lot of games they publish a lot of stuff and uh a lot of people that are just kind of like you know they like their Platformers they like their Mario games I feel like they've been feeling a little in the in the cold with uh Nintendo's more recent releases uh where they kind of go for a little more of uh you know RPG strategy kind of uh Gamers and anime art styles and all that hey people like what people like and I know a lot of people know that I'm not immediately into a lot of RPG or anime stuff myself but that doesn't mean I don't like to try that stuff and I end up liking a lot of games that I may not have immediately picked up if I only picked up the games I only immediately knew I was into and I'll try out whatever Fire Emblem game comes out I'll try out the Xenoblade stuff I may not enjoy it uh but who knows maybe I will so I feel like a lot of people uh should consider doing that a little more often but hey you know not everybody has the luxury to try out every single game uh possibly releasing by Nintendo so I I feel like sometimes you just gotta stick to what you know and I feel like the NES Remix games are really just like hey there's no way you can screw up with one of these I feel like they could probably just keep milk in the series if they wanted to any instruments three four uh SNES remix Game Boy remix N64 remix just keep at it with these types of releases and just kind of put them out whenever it's like hey all right we don't have many games coming out in April or hey we have five Fire Emblem games coming out um we'll put this out to just make the more like basic Nintendo fans happy I'd like that I think this Series has a lot of potential and I really hope Nintendo uh brings it back uh with ports of The Originals and new entries on top of that in addition Games like pushmo World Dr Luigi I mean like there's no reason why those wouldn't work on Wii U I think it just kind of comes down to the fact that uh those games kind of feel more like if they would bring a game like that to switch they'd probably just do a new entry why do I need Dr Luigi in my life in 2023. next up the Wii series on Wii uh the very interesting vloggers here these aren't bad games at all in fact I'd say out of all of them we say you was the best and most uh elaborate game out of all of the Wii games on Wii U but of course with these games usage of not only the Wii U gamepad but in Wi-Fi use case the Wii Fit balance board Wii Sports Club had potentially a shot but they ended up just doing Nintendo switch Sports instead I think these games are pretty much entirely stuck on Wii U it is unfortunate but that's kind of the risk you'd take by relying so heavily on the controller of the week um with the Wii U gamepad or also accessories like the Wii Fit balance board but pretty much all these games have like in like equivalent I guess on switch where we fit you you have something like ring fit Adventure we party you I'd say something like Clubhouse games maybe and then Wii Sports Club you have Nintendo switch Sports uh and and these aren't like full-on Replacements uh they're completely different games from you know these games but they do the job the job now I might as well talk about other games that heavily relied on the Wii U gamepad here I have Nintendo Land the general pack-in for the Wii U and game and Wario now these games aren't coming over I randomly see a lot of people say like man what if we got a Nintendo land port I don't think those people think okay so with two Nintendo switch consoles maybe I can imagine you could do something along the lines of like when you get to switch consoles together and you do wireless local multiplayer with a game like Mario Kart that's a way where you can do the dual screen experience you can have a Nintendo switch console focusing on the TV with the four players and then you could have another Nintendo switch console uh for the fifth player in a lot of the five player games the problem is I I feel like even with a port a port still takes a decent amount of time and money to do so Nintendo still kind of has to feel like okay is this a viable I don't think that's viable I think that's asking too much of the customer I can already see a lot of people actively complaining like oh my God Nintendo made a game that needs two switch units what so yes like it could work but like you're gonna put that much time and effort into making sure Nintendo Land works on switch by requiring two Nintendo switch consoles and thus just absolutely crushing the number of people who could actively play this game on switch like this game would not sell on switch if you require two damn consoles to play it like even though a lot of people have two consoles a lot of people know somebody else with a switch just having to ask that person hey can you bring the switch over so we I can play the [ __ ] Mario chase it just doesn't make sense and I think it makes more sense to make a Nintendo Land sequel but I don't think Nintendo's gonna do that I do think it would make sense to kind of bring this back uh with Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios but also again like there could be some weird mixed marketing there where it's just like okay the game's called Nintendo Land but the area is called Super Nintendo World what's up with that and also I feel like Nintendo just doesn't really want focus on this game that they thought was going to be like the Wii Sports of the Wii U and try to bring it over to switch and it may just make everybody go like I don't need the switch anymore I'll return it and so we use it might do the exact same thing to Nintendo switch even though they already sold Nintendo switches a game in Wario gaming Wario uh yeah that this isn't gonna work we already have a war you wear on switch it's a good warrior game it's not the same as this gaming Warrior was its own little flavor of thing but it's its own thing and I really like it uh the games are very Hit or Miss in this game the main one I really responded to was sketch uh which is genuinely just Pictionary but it is the best goddamn Pictionary game I've ever played maybe if it's brought back as kind of like a Jack box style thing where uh you use your smartphone which I mean like maybe you could do that with Nintendo Land but so much Nintendo land uses buttons sticks uh the and the screen and the microphone and the camera blah blah blah and like yeah some smartphones have that specifically microphones and cameras but the buttons and sticks it would just be it would be a mess I think this needs a second switch console if you're gonna do this on switch I think in Memoir you could potentially do something like Jack box where uh you know you just connect via smartphone but at that point why not just make an entirely new game why not make just a new jackbox style game and Wario sequel I just feel like once again it wouldn't be viable to bring this over like you could do it but the amount of Hoops you'd have to jump through I mean like why would you do that now Xenoblade Chronicles X has been a a very debated game as to uh if or when it's coming to Nintendo's switch the people in monolith soft have already said like man we'd really like this game to be on Nintendo switch the problem is it's just too damn big this game barely ran on Wii U as it was like you had to download so much extra content to get this game running in a suitable State you'd have to download so many extra packs on the Nintendo eShop for this game so you could download packs that would help with the graphics packs that would help with certain elements of the game packs that would help with the performance all of this stuff to just help this game Run on Wii U it genuinely push the hardware to its limits to a point that uh it couldn't function properly on just a standard disk which does make this game uh as it stands uh not like definitive like playing on Wii U you're gonna have have a compromised experience because you can't access the eShop anymore so if this came to switch it would be a challenge but it would genuinely preserve this game and and make it better in many ways because the switch is more powerful than the Wii U they can take some more time to make sure that this has everything that it needs to run properly so I think it's very possible this comes to Nintendo switch I think it's very probable it will come to Nintendo switch I think the main problem is the developers of this game monolith soft they've been busy with a lot of other things I mean they remastered the original Xenoblade you know they made Xenoblade 2 Xenoblade 2 torna Xenoblade three they have their hands busy so I think it's pretty understandable that Xenoblade Chronicles X still isn't on Nintendo switch but I feel like eventually it'll come over Xenoblade Chronicles X did end on a cliffhanger so either they they might do like a Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition where maybe they have like an epilogue that resolves it or they just straight up do Xenoblade Chronicles x two which uh I think there's there's definitely some potential for that these ones aren't really a case of an if but a when the Zelda remasters debatably the definitive versions of these games of course some people may definitely prefer the uh playing the originals but you can't deny the improvements that came alongside Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD these ones don't require the GamePad though they are enhanced by them though uh it's pretty damn easy to just rip them out and just serve these as just HD versions of The Originals it would frankly be incredibly wasteful to not put these out on switch and because of that I just don't have much else to say because these are just such no-brainers now this one I was up in the air Devil's third uh Nintendo published the game Nintendo helped develop it and uh it came to PC via Devil's Third online which was just the online multiplayer that was it uh but this game is basically stuck on Wii U even the PC version went offline very shortly after it launched so uh yeah this game is pretty much just a Wii U game and it has its fans I wouldn't really consider myself to be one of them but I do kind of like this game at least a little more than a lot of other people this game got absolutely slammed in reviews notoriously I remember IGN gave it like a three out of ten I think it's closer to like a five or a six uh it it plays well I think the controls feel really fun and it makes the game in combat uh really engaging the problem is it's just not very well designed it doesn't run well it it's just kind of a gross feeling game like in terms of like the story and just it's themes just how it looks it's self-aware but at the same time it doesn't feel like it's self-aware so it's just like it's fun for like a good laugh but regardless of if you actually like this game or not I don't think you can deny uh it has its problems and it's not a perfect experience and I don't think it's ever going to come over to switch not because it it couldn't work on it but mainly because it's built off of Unreal Engine 3 and that's not supported on Nintendo switch because you know it's so old uh and because of how poorly this game was received how poorly this game did how it it was more so like Nintendo released that out of obligation rather than they really wanted to so I don't think it's very possible now uh the developers behind this game uh own like the trademarks and all that so I'm sure they could uh bring it to other platforms potentially I I don't think Nintendo wants this thing at all if they if they were willing to let Wonderful 101 go to other platforms they would definitely be willing to let Devil's third come to other platforms so there may be a chance that later down the line Valhalla game studios uh if they aren't already defunct uh they would potentially be uh open to bringing this to a Nintendo switch and other platforms themselves but that's probably not going to happen and yeah that's most of the general Wii U exclusives that haven't come over to Nintendo switch yet most of which I talked about were Nintendo published games uh of course there are various other Wii U exclusives that weren't published by Nintendo but uh I don't really know how much I can really discuss those actually I know for this one uh one word long no
