I go through common mistakes people make when learning to air dribble and my preferred method of doing it. There's a lot of air dribble tutorials so if you watched some and still not quite got the hang of it, try following my explanation and see how it goes. As always please let me know what you think :)

This helped me a lot actually, especially the bit about making contact with the front of the car and not the corners

Appreciate the help

I’ve watched several air dribble tutorials and yours is by far the best out of all of them. It’s very detailed and it addresses points that I’d never seen in other videos. Keep up the good work!

I could air dribble kind of before, but then I switched to dominus and haven’t been able to get it back

I swear on the second, fourth, and Fifth shots of the training pack I just can’t get a good setup. The ball sorta floats at the beginning and I keep fuckin up those shots.

so let's turn your weak air dribbles into awesome air dribbles what's up ladies and gentlemen my name is kingpin and welcome back to my channel where it's all about improving and becoming an awesome player so if you want to get better at rocket league warzone and battle royales then hit that subscribe button so you don't miss out on any of my tutorials so you've seen people air drivel and probably attempted it yourself after a few tries you've realized it's not that easy and you're wondering what you're doing wrong i'm here to help solve all your issues and get you air dribbling like a pro i like to think of the air dribble in two parts the launch where you pop the ball of the wall and the carry where you actually dribble the ball through the air let's begin with the launch so to start off when you hit the ball up the wall you need to match the speed of the ball so you don't launch it away from you if every time you pop the ball up and it goes far away like it doesn't like you then you're hitting the ball too hard the further away it goes the more boost you'll waste just to catch up and the harder it will be to control so for the optimum launch keep the ball close by matching the speed or slowing down a little before you make contact also if you have more speed than the ball when you hit you'll find your car will go higher than the ball making it impossible to air dribble the best way to match the speed is to follow the ball with a small gap in between and try to maintain that gap as the ball goes up so now we're matching the speed how do we pop the ball to get a good pop there's two things you need to do first time the touch just as the ball is about to lose its upward momentum you want to make contact before it starts coming down next the angle at which you hit the ball is really important you want to hit it with the front center of your car not the corners if you do match the speed but pop it with a corner of the car the ball will go to the side but you will go higher than the ball even when your speed is controlled there is no real perfect angle to hit the ball it all depends on how far you are from the goal but the best and easiest way to know what angle you should be popping it is to imagine that you're trying to hit it towards the goal without air dribbling if you're close to the goal then go for a more upward angle the further away you are then the more tilt you want on your approach to allow for enough forward momentum when you jump it's crucial you get your angle correct because it will make the air dribble so much easier spend some time practicing getting the angle right before moving on next comes the jump some people like to pop the ball and wait a little bit before jumping this isn't entirely bad and you can still legible like this but you waste extra boost to catch up to the ball and it's harder to control because as you're trying to catch up you gain more momentum and if you hit the ball with too much speed it will just go further away so what i like to do is jump straight after taking a touch this way i'm always close to the ball and i don't need to waste half of my boost just to catch up and in case you're wondering i always single jump you don't really need to double jump off the wall unless the ball is really far away so that's all you need to know to get a good solid launch practice it a bit before moving on to the carrying part so you can get an idea of matching the speed making contact at the right angle and getting a smooth jump this video is using the chapters feature on youtube so if you're watching on pc you can come back to this video for a recap and easily scroll to find the exact part you need help with so let's move on to the carry there's two factors you need to keep in mind for a smooth carry first is the point of contact with the ball where should you be aiming to touch the ball well if you hit the ball head on it will gain forward momentum but no lift so you'll just eventually hit the ground on the other hand if you were to be straight underneath then you'll provide plenty of lift but no forward momentum so i'm sure you've worked it out the best angle is around halfway between providing both lift and forward momentum you can adjust the angle depending on how far you are from the goal so if you want to carry it further then just use a lower angle for more lift if you're closer to the goal you won't need as much lift so you can use a higher angle for more speed the second factor for a good carry is boost management if you find you're getting a good launch but only manage a couple of touches on the ball before it goes away from you then as i mentioned earlier is to do with your speed and momentum you want a boost to catch up to the ball and let go just as you're about to touch it then boost straight after you touch to catch up to the ball again and let go as you're about to make contact again once the ball is under control boost to provide lift if you hit the ball while boosting you'll have too much momentum and hit it with a lot of force which isn't so bad if you're trying to take a shot but that's not what we want instead you want the contact to be soft like the ball is being pushed by a cushion instead of being hit with a baseball bat another important boost management tip is to feather your boost don't just continuously boost into the ball as not only will it save you a lot of boost but feathering also stops you from reaching supersonic if you give the ball too much speed you won't be able to catch up making you lose control of the dribble as you can see in my clips i never boost for a long time but rather in short bursts so make sure you're feathering your boost the secret to a good air dribble is actually the launching part a solid launch allows you to get the ball under control with minimal effort i want you to spend time improving both the launch and the carry don't just put your entire focus on the air dribble part that said if you're struggling to get used to the point of contact on the ball and managing your boost i suggest using ground air dribbles it's the fastest way to learn how to carry the ball efficiently and it'll be the third shot of my a dribble training pack you want to tilt your car back slightly and pop the ball after the bounce so you're using the balls upward momentum and it's the same idea you're boosting to catch up and letting go of boost as you get close to touching now the only thing different for the ground air dribbles is that you should use your double jump to get closer to the ball faster and i find it's better to turn ball cam off for air dribbles from the ground because if you get a little too underneath the camera sometimes messes up for the wall layer dribbles it's much better to keep the ball cam on so to recap match your speed with the ball pop it just before it loses its upward momentum and make sure you pop it towards the goal jump as soon as you hit the ball to follow it up if your launch is good then you won't need to boost too much to catch up and try to feather your boost as you're dribbling you will get better at launching the ball over time so don't worry if you're not getting it straight away the first shot in my training pack is the easiest so most of your time should be spent on that one when you're first learning there isn't much adjustments needed on that shot so just work on matching the speed and getting a good soft jump pay attention to how the ball behaves when you launch if it's going too far away from you or if your car goes above the ball then you might need to slow down your speed on the approach after your launch feels good then move on to trying to carry the ball like i mentioned before if you're struggling with this then skip to shot three of the training pack it will help you to learn how to position your car underneath the ball i hope this tutorial helps you guys in ldl dribble if you do find it helpful help me out with a youtube algorithm and leave a like and a comment don't forget to subscribe if you're looking to get better at rocket league i upload guides regarding mechanics and strategies and there's going to be a lot more helpful videos like this one thank you so much for watching i'll see you next time [Music] bye
