Why Yoda REFUSED to Speak of his Home-world to the Jedi Council - Star Wars Explained

the mystery of Yoda's species and his ancestral home is still something that is ongoing and it seems as though it will be kept going for many years to come perhaps the questions we have about his species may never be answered but we aren't alone in this and it seems as if not even the Jedi Council or the Republic know anything of Yoda's species either greetings acolytes of the force and welcome back to our archives the galactic Republic database barely has anything on Yoda's species the only thing is a general description of them based on what Yoda and yato themselves have revealed as well as of course Yoda and yaddle themselves it does not appear as though the general public or the Republic researchers knew anything about grogu during his time in the Jedi Temple and for a very long time the Republic had mistakenly labeled Yoda as part of the lanik species the same species as Master Evan peel however this was later redacted since the information was proven false and inaccurate it is a known fact though that both the Republic researchers and the Jedi Council have actually inquired to Yoda before about his species and done so several times but the Grand Master has always refused to divulge any information so why exactly is this why is Yoda so protective over his species to the point refusing even the Jedi archives information about them well there's only one way to find out and let's open up yet another holocron and dive into why Yoda keeps his species such a secret the primary reason that Yoda gives for not wanting to disclose the location of his Homeworld or really anything about his people is due to the nature of the Republic and how prone the Galaxy was to war and domination yoga's reasoning seems to be that his people are peaceful and he knows that the Republic want to bring them into the fold and his people are simply not ready for this the Republic while having the best interests in mind for independent systems are notoriously forceful when they want a system to join them we've seen this time and time again specifically with the Naboo crisis The Saga with Mandalore and even with Dooku's Homeworld of Sereno the Republic puts quite a bit of pressure on these systems to join especially in eras of War Yoda knows this and he is usually one of the diplomats that helps these systems come to an agreement with the Republic and because of this Yoda knows the danger that comes with the assimilation into the Republic itself should anything go wrong at all and the wrong person discovered the truth about his people then they could potentially be wiped out his species appears to be naturally extremely strong with the force and anyone could decide to commit genocide on them out of fear of their power Yoda's fears would ultimately be proven correct since Darth Sidious Rose to power in the Empire and that was one of his major priorities I think all of us agree that Darth Sidious would have undoubtedly wiped out Yoda's people without a second thought likely either seeing them as a Potential Threat or to use it as leverage to draw against the Grand Master and bring him out of hiding or maybe even just for fun there is also a possibility that his people are still not not entirely Advanced enough in technology and are more primitive by choice it is our theory that the reason they haven't yet been found is because their Homeworld resides in the unknown regions since it appears that Yoda species are all innately Force sensitive so perhaps their entire Society Works around the use and implementation of the force and using it in their daily lives it is possible that they reject technology and decide not to travel extraterrestrially at all these principles are actually aligned very closely with another force-based organization the night sisters of dathomir in the same way we believe that Yoda species are naturally attached to their home planet and have some sort of religious grounding in the planet that they live on and it is seen that they are a more spiritual and insightful people who choose when and where to travel and do so very carefully if they ever decide to leave their home World perhaps they are much like the chis who also reside in the unknown regions and do not leave their Planet unless they deem it absolutely necessary a second reason though is all also possible that Yoda doesn't reveal his Homeworld to the Jedi because he secretly doesn't want his people to be constantly badgered by the Jedi and doing so in order to surrender their young to the order it seems that every one of the members of Yoda's species besides grogu joined the order by choice much later in their lives and we know that Yoda trained with a strange Jedi Master on a deserted swamp world as a young man before ever deciding to seek out the Jedi and Yoda likely wants to keep it this way but if this theory is correct it makes it all the more mysterious as to why grogu was at the Jedi Temple perhaps in a tragic sense Yoda may have decided it was time he tested the waters to see how it would affect a member of his species to grow up in the temple meaning that grogu may have been a bit of an experiment for Yoda to see if he could trust the order with the information about his race and his home world but as we know this would ultimately be cut short by the rise of the empire and by Order 66 it will be highly unlikely that groku will really even act like his b besides exhibiting some very Basic Instincts since groku is growing up away from his Homeworld he will sadly wander the Galaxy never knowing what he truly is or where he truly came from the only concrete information we know about Yoda's species as a society comes from an unreleased Trading Card which was discontinued before it was ever produced to the public all we have is a single screenshot of it this depicts five presumably male members of Yoda species all gathered around some sort of altar bearing a statue of their species the one in the very center is glowing and levitating off of the ground with a staff in his hand as the other members seem to be looking upon him with astonishment or perhaps even reverence it appears to be some sort of religious ceremony in a temple but because the trading card was banned by lucasfilm from ever releasing we don't have any information regarding the context of this image it is also a curious thing that we have never seen two members of Yoda species ever interact with one another directly whether it be on screen or in text Yoda and yaddle have notably not interacted at all leading to a rather strange question of are they purposefully avoiding speaking to each other in public in order to maintain the secrecy of their Planet this is admittedly quite the stretch but it is very interesting while they may be in the same room with one another at various points in time they never directly interact that we know of could this be another level of security to maintain the absolute secrecy of their people perhaps they're avoiding speaking in their native language perhaps interestingly none of the members of Yoda species either passed or present ever say anything about their people even in Legends continuity neither vandar to care otek Mitch or yaddle ever mention anything of them at all which now leads us to believe that it may not be entirely Yoda's exclusive decision to keep them a secret but perhaps it is a vow that members of Yoda species must take whenever they decide to leave their home world this would make an incredible amount of sense and this would also mean that their people are reclusive and don't leave their world very often but any who do must take upon them an oath to swear secrecy perhaps it wasn't Yoda's decision but rather whatever ruling powers that may reside on his home world but anyway my friends in acolytes what do you think of this and what is your personal Theory as to why Yoda species chooses to remain so secretive and secluded why is it that we know even when the Jedi Council inquires about Yoda's species he outright refuses to speak of them perhaps Yoda species were Servants of the mysterious Celestial race at the
