Why Spider-Man Can't Beat Carnage Alone

ever since spider-man 3 fans have been clamoring for another big screen crossover between venom and peter parker so thanks for the hot tip after the massive success of spidey in the mcu and venom in sony's marvel universe crossover rumors have sparked four months now but if spider-man does enter the world and multiverse of venom there's no way the webbed wonder could take on carnage all by himself holy cow you will not believe what's been going on do you remember when we were in space let's dive deep into the comics and see some potential stories for venom 2 to learn exactly why spider-man can't handle the symbiote carnage on his own and how peter parker's destiny may be teaming up with venom after all you are making us look bad i know why i'm not [Music] in 2020 tom hardy's venom is scheduled to return to the big screen and square off against his symbiote offspring carnage while venom's brutality and power is often more than spider-man can handle carnage is a new level of savagery and strength with sony and marvel sharing custody of the spider-man properties the potential exists that venom could call in some help from the friendly neighborhood spider-man but will that be enough to understand why that might not be enough we have to go back to the comic book roots these movies are based off of eddie brock and venom may have gotten their own origin story together on the big screen but peter parker was an integral part of the original comic book story and there's still plenty of room for him to fit into it on the big screen after the iconic red and blue spidey suit got destroyed parker uses a machine he thinks is a fabric replicator don's a new black suit with white details and only some time later does he find that the suit is actually an alien life form the symbiote we all know as venom in retrospect it seems obvious that things go terribly wrong when donning a suit like this who goes into a strange science lab on a mysterious battle planet and lets a thing scan you to give you a suit that responds to your thoughts of course that's going to be a rogue member of an alien race of symbiotes genetically altered by the kree and then abandoned by its people who would then become obsessed with the person it bonded with it's a tale as old as time when the symbiote was separated from peter and found a spider-man-hating duo act with eddie brock one of spider-man's deadliest foes venom was born but since this was a comic book in the late 80s and 90s a giant monster version of spider-man wasn't hardcore enough so venom had an offspring that bonded with a serial killer named cletus cassidy giving rise to carnage on the surface carnage just seems like an alternate costume version of venom venom retains that cool black and white look of the symbiote spider-man outfit while carnage does a red and blue color scheme like spider-man's traditional look but carnage is so much more than a costume alternate look for venom the hows and whys of that mean that carnage is not something that spider-man can handle on his own or venom for that matter even with his own film franchise here's why carnage ends up being too much for spider-man to handle symbiotes aren't really born with a personality they get that by bonding with a host taking on that host's obsessions this is why despite all of venom's brutality what he really wants is to be a hero he just has no idea how to go about it and doesn't have any of the moral benchmarks that humans have about killing and causing harm it's not just that he'll eat bad guys but if he ends up killing some of the people he's trying to defend it doesn't phase him it does however faze eddie brock this keeps venom more or less in check and has on occasion made venom an anti-hero but carnage bonded with a serial killer who has no qualms about killing and is in fact a big fan this is one of the big things that separates carnage from spider-man's rogue's gallery including venom for the most part even though destroy the spider-man is on top of most of the foe's to-do list they have other plans too like conquering worlds making money and increasing their power but carnage doesn't have other items on his list it's just the one written in his own blood and big letters kill everyone but in the cinematic world why bring up spider-man at all the relationship between sony and marvel is vague at best spider-man can appear in mcu movies free of sony outside the producer credits but the movies that are spider-man movies bear the sony logo but whether or not these stories exist in the same world as spider-man and by extension the avengers is another question that even the producers can't seem to agree on with the tom holland spider-man going strong spider-man far from home just became the first billion dollar spider-man film and the venom movie clearing the financial success hurdle to earn a sequel the two companies might find themselves enjoying a more symbiotic relationship could this mean spider-man is making his way into a venom movie to face carnage there are ways to make it happen and there's evidence in the comics to suggest that venom or spider-man alone are not enough to face the big c man in the comics carnage's unique relationship with executing as many people as possible and as publicly as possible leads to him trying to kill who else but jay jonah jameson in front of a gathered crowd at madison square garden to defeat carnage spider-man had to implore venom to help him by playing on venom's desire to be a hero pointing out that if his offspring was harming innocent people for the sake of violence even the help of venom was not enough peter had already called in some help from the fantastic four and wanted to call the avengers but venom vetoed that idea outright venom and spider-man were able to beat carnage in the most metal way possible literally the crowd at madison square garden was there for a heavy metal concert and while venom occupied carnage spider-man was able to turn it up to 11 and stun carnage using the fantastic four's sonic gun to subdue venom when he turns on spider-man after taking out the sea monster this is with a venom that's had some time with both spider-man and eddie brock a venom who's grown into his role but he still needs a small army and a fair bit of luck to beat carnage at the end of maximum carnage it's only after carnage is blasted with the stark industry's love cannon that is to say a cannon that makes the people in its wake feel love and empathy that venom is able to throw a disoriented carnage onto an electric generator the cinematic venom bonds with brock over the both of them being losers venom even spends most of the final battle telling brock how outmatched they are against riot like a regular villain riot had a plan to bring the symbiotes to earth and take over the earthlings it's during the execution of this plan that venom is able to defeat ryan not head on just as if carnage was facing spider-man venom is going to need some help what is and isn't in the mcu varies even within the halls of marvel marvel entertainment and marvel studios had become two separate entities within the company one dealing with television and the other with movies so while the shows have made nods to the movies the defenders is said in the wake of the battle of new york and the various boroughs and each other the movies however seem to care little about what happens on tv and their place in the continuity is hotly contested this is maybe the most comic book thing a shared universe can do and the mcu seems to be angling towards a very comic book solution the multiverse while quentin beck may have been fibbing about the multiverse the heroes involved in the time tripping reality altering showdown with thanos know a little bit better and the multiverse is set to be an even bigger factor going forward with doctor strange the madness of the multiverse the holes in realities could find a peter parker slipping away from his emerging legal trouble in earth 19999 also known as the mcu to a reality with eddie brock where spider-man and venom could end up teaming up to beat carnage the first rule of team-ups is that the heroes must fight each other and this would be the most fitting if tom hall and spider-man found himself in a venom movie it would also give the venom symbiote a chance to get in on that sweet sweet peter parker morality and sense of justice this could help eddie brock push venom towards the role of anti-hero a little bit easier but venom would have to return to brock to fight off someone like carnage so they could team up with spider-man neither venom nor spider-man by themselves are enough to beat carnage on this big screen or in the comics but could spider-man be enough what do you have to call and help we already know that calling in the avengers isn't an easy thing after spider-man far from home many of the anti-carnage team from maximum carnage are already in the mcu but captain america is retired morbius however is said to be part of sony's expanding side universe of marvel titles it still holds the rights to and could appear to help save the day and set up its own movie audiences shouldn't expect the rest of the team to show up though special stark tech may play a factor maybe not the love gun though even edith would have been a tough call since the new reality won't have her network in fact this will end up being spider-man's biggest hurdle if he's slipped from one reality to another he won't have the access to edith or stark industries and all that sweet tech that can be 3d printing new suits on the flight from the netherlands to london even if there's an ant-may it won't be peter's aunt may not to mention peter would be reluctant as anyone would to consider venom a good guy it will end up being the savagery of carnage to get the two natural enemies to team up the cinematic venom has already established a preference for earth over the clitarians but spider-man didn't see that movie yet not that venom has to be a good guy to end up on carnage's hit list though everyone is on carnage's hit list tom hardy's venom movie does end with him adopting the anti-hero life with his lethal protector mode by way overreacting to an attempted liquor store robbery before carnage gets into his villainous ways eddie and venom are gonna have to work on their relationship a little bit more since this is a venom movie and not a spider-man movie we can expect that to be the main focus of the film at a certain point though tom holland in a venom movie starts to make it a spider-man movie instead of a venom movie so if spider-man trips the multiverse fantastic he might have only brief interactions with venom maybe even showing up at the last second to help save the day or early on to give venom the edge he needs we'll have to wait until venom 2 hits theaters to see if it even involves spider-man or how it will affect the mcu multiverse with rumors that a live-action adaptation of the spider-verse is being considered spider-man tripping through the multiverse to be part of the story of a villain so intimately tied to him would help set that up either way spider-man and venom might need some help taking down carnage that's why spider-man can't handle carnage on his own
