in the south of turkey this is a city that i was most excited to visit over this four-week trip around the country because it's a culinary capital it has an incredible old town and some of the most hospitable people that you will find in the country if you guys can remember a video i made about a year and a half ago in pakistan called why is everything free it showed you the kindness of people on the streets and they wouldn't let me pay for anything and because i've been experiencing something really similar here in gaziantep over the last two days i've decided to make it a sequel and show you that truly nobody will accept my money and i must say that everything in this video you're about to see is a real life situation nothing was planned nothing was staged here we go [Music] we started the day walking through all the incredible stalls and the various markets around town i'm pretty sure that i've never been to a city with more visually appealing food items to try look at this shop this guy has literally every kind of spice that you can imagine he says it's a great decision for you to come here first because it's like the home of food and home of everyone as we approached this guy's shop he started feeding us with samples of his pistachio creations i'm being force-fed i think it's turkish delight covered by pistachio and chocolate inside that's one of the best things i've ever had two minutes later we were offered more delicious treats so we're just standing here at one of the markets and this guy came up to us whoa and gave us a free baklava and to wash it all down they gave us turkish tea what'd you say he's offering chai to you sure we can he's offering beer whatever you want able to offer nothing better than a turkish team they wouldn't accept any payment we're approaching a shop now with so many nuts in these giant tanks look at this hello you have so many nuts in here in so many containers tell me about the culture of why gaziantep has so many nuts this is so popular because they grow it all around gaziantep and they use it in baklava so it's going together i would like to buy some pistachios oh my god he's getting more thank you how much no no no no no no no no i will pay you'll almost avi we just walked in the shop and he just gave us free uh pistachios what a nice guy he is a perfect example of the people in gaziantep that i want to tell you guys are the nicest people in the world he's offering if we have time we can drink tea turkish coffee cold drinks whatever we want he's offering us a dream sure we'll accept your offer so one thing that gaziantep is really well known for are the suites all over the streets you can see people selling all different kinds of sweets and i want to try some exactly drew i will take you to eat something really special and only found in gaziantep which is cut smash cut mesh what is it believably tasty here is the kathmarji's shopki yeah you can see this place has drawn quite the crowd now i will show you how they prepare it then we will eat it welcome to surgery thank you bro now this is the dough you can see and he put some milk cream then he will roll it roll it roll it roll it roll it and make a special shape and cook it in the oven we just sat down in this beautiful courtyard in front of the sweets place and they served us some chai we've got people around us just sitting here enjoying the wonderful day and we're waiting for our sweets i can never remember that name holy crap look at this thing oh my god it's so fresh and crunchy wow man this stuff is scary good to the point where i could eat an obnoxious amount of it it's so flaky like thin crunchy flakes but you can understand how thin it is lots of pistachios so soft it melts in your mug it's amazing the way i can explain it is it's a cousin of baklava it has many of the same ingredients but the the texture is much different the taste is a little bit different and it's just as good he says they're making this dessert in gaziante for maybe a few hundred years abby how much can i offer you for the the food i want to pay you for it it's so good it says be our guest so obvious you don't have to give us free food man no problem he's not accepting money no it's not being nice it's the hospitality in turkey whenever you come you have a place on our head wow and this is the leftover and they gave us a leftover i'm seriously trying to pay him for the food that we just ate and he's not accepting the payment are you sure you don't want any payments in his ass he says do you want anything else do you want to order anything else to us whatever you say it's an order for us he says his mother is making really good gaziantep food and if we want to place to stay he is offering his house to us unbelievable man thank you so much oh and there's tea here again as always always more tea all right we are now going to a kebab place for dinner that was recommended to us and i'm really excited because i know it's going to be delicious i've been eating kebabs all over the country and they change depending on the region you go to it's not always the same so i've heard the one here in gaziantep is going to be fantastic and i'm also really hungry and so i'm excited to try these kebabs so we found mustafa here who's making the kebab and he has this little tiny kitchen in the back with a brick wall and underneath he has the grill where he's cooking these amazing kebabs these grilled meat in these skewers kind of like they have in afghanistan they cook the meat in the same way and man it just looks incredible and i'm getting starving so this is why i came to gaziantep the food look in my hand you see that i just filled the juice everywhere look at this in front of me he made it in like five minutes i'm so impressed how fast i made it but i cannot wait to eat this oh man how many years have you been making kebabs since 1980. look at that dude i think we came to the right place oh the sound of that [Music] one to ten ten is the best [Music] one eleven that's the best one the thing i love about these kebabs in istanbul when you get a donut kebab they make it for you in the pita but here you get to choose each piece you take the pita you choose how much meat you want how much pepper you want how much salad you want in each bite it's better this way what's the bill how much does it cost let me explain something the economy is bad business is bad i want to help you because you're helping us help that was so incredible the kebab was so tasty mustafa is just an amazing person and you saw i tried to pay him and he would not accept my payment unbelievable on our way out we stumbled upon a really amazing shop of men cooking the turkish version of pizza fresh off the press what you're about to see next completely blew us away as we entered our car and began to leave wow that shop was so cool man that bread shop i want to go back yeah come on what's happening what hello unbelievable dude we literally just ate dinner and we stopped by the flatbread shop to look at it and on our way out thank you thank you on our way out it literally just gave us this hot piece of flatbread oh it's amazing thank you i will i will give him your youtube channel so he they can watch themselves in your channel please please that that was so unexpected um we're just sitting here in the car and he brought the bread the bread is so fresh that right now it's on my leg and my leg is super hot because the bread is like baking my leg my leg look at this man the crunchiness we can't finish the bread it's too much so we're gonna give it to him i would like you to have this bread please take it all right guys i am so full i am so happy this video was such a special thing to make i just want to tell you once again and you have my buddy anno to prove it this was not staged we did not tell anybody to give us free food we just went into the restaurants like normal people and we talked to them we ate normally and then they offered no payment it's amazing it's so amazing and i just want to say that people in this part of the world in the middle east in turkey in in this part where europe meets asia are the friendliest in the world and i've always said that the arab world is is number one for me the people are just incredibly hospitable i'm convinced i could have zero dollars and walk around on the street and have a place to sleep have food easily live here four months easily because generosity and hospitality are in their blood yes it's so deeply ingrained in their heart and it's just so incredible so anyways guys i hope you enjoyed the video thank you for watching have a great day and i'll see you tomorrow for more stories from turkey bye bye [Music] he says all turkish people are so nice okay it's not only for them but wherever you go it doesn't matter if you're jewish who is christian or muslim or whatever you are in sun everyone is human there is only good good people or better yeah so they see everyone good people tell them i'm jewish but i i love muslim people for him you are only the good person great moment here with eunice on the streets of gaziantep turkey talking about how all humans are the same thing i'm gonna count for three one two three and you say welcome to godzilla okay practice one two three one two three
