Why I Hate Wallflower Blush.

okay it's finally time I've been pushed to the edge I'm making a video essay about why I hate Wallflower blush for those of you unfamiliar with the character wur blush is an animated character who makes her debut in the equestra girl special forgotten friendship equester girls follows the series exclusive character Sunset Shimmer who was previously the antagonist of the franchise's first movie after she is defeated Sunset is Redeemed by Twilight Sparkle and her human world friends and takes over the mantle of the group's leader the rest of the film's go on to show Sunset working hard to be a better version of herself than the person she was before she met Twilight and the rest of her friends and this special in particular reiterates just how horrible a person Sunset used to be and also highlights her growth from who she once was the plot of the special is that Sunset and her friends are trying to put together the end of your year book and upon arriving at a meet up organized to take a group photo for the book Sunset finds that all of her friends's memories have been erased or rather all of their good memories of her not only them though Sunset soon comes to learn that everyone has had their memory of her Redemption erased the only memories they know have of her are her being mean cruel and vindictive speeding through the villain of the special is revealed to be none other than waffl blush a timid and socially awkward girl who has been helping out with the yearbook now you would think wa's motivation would be that Sunset had wronged her in some way that she'd been mean to her in the past forgotten about it and paid her no mind after being Redeemed by her friends and forgiven by the rest of the student body you would think that that would make sense Mor's motivation for erasing all of sunet hard work is actually that she is jealous of her popular Sunset is which isn't a bad thing in and of itself it's actually an incredibly interesting angle to go for except the followup just Falls completely flat wlur admits that no one notices her and that she has been using the same magic artifact to erase the memories of anyone who has ever seen her mess up or that she has just been embarrassed in front of just completely creating her own problem the reason no one remembers her is because she's literally been erasing their memories of her and instead of working on herself growing her confidence in stepping out of her comfort zone she lashes out at sunset for her rotten luck and the thing is is that anxiety and social awkwardness has been done right before one of the main characters both in Milo Pony and Equestria Girls continuously struggles with overcoming her anxiety to achieve her goals and after all said and done Sunset confronts wura explaining to her that she understands how it feels to be alone and that when she was a bully she may have been popular but she was all alone but again waffler refuses this branch and lashes out again instead looking to hurt sunet friends is collateral but after all of that Sunset is still the one who apologizes to walllow for not paying attention to someone that she didn't know for not being mean to her but for not being nice to her either I'm sorry now here's where I'm just going to be an absolute hater I'm not mean I think the idea of lashing out as someone and envy and learning how to deal with that would have been such an amazing lesson to portray in the special but I feel like it was just executed in such a weird way that it just makes me absolutely hate this character like no I don't feel sorry for her I can't empathize with someone who only apologizes after their insane magic Relic is destroyed and they physically can't hurt people anymore I don't think that she was sorry for what she did I think she was only sorry that she couldn't do it again I don't think she deserve to be forgiven by sunset or by her friends I can understand anxiety and I can understand being envious of someone else lashing out and being remorseful but just because you say sorry doesn't mean that you should automatically be forgiven and I don't think Sunset would would have been any less empathetic for not forgiving her Sunset tried to level with her be empathetic and express as she understood loneliness she tried to reach out that hand and wlur refused it again and again one very specific interaction that annoys me most of all is that Sunset says that she doesn't even know Wallflower and so she doesn't understand why she's acting this way and wlur just says exactly what did I do to you honestly I don't even know know you exactly what what are you talking about and again this whole point of I think it would have been such an interesting take if Sunset had wronged Wallflower out R in some way previously because she says you may have everyone else fooled but I know the real you you had everyone fooled but now they know you're still the biggest meanie so it's like the groundwork was there they just didn't follow through with it because I feel like a character being not only envious but resentful of the protagonist for the hurt that they inflicted onto others specifically thems it's just such an interesting way to take a story WL appropriates that pain and that suffering that Sunset had caused directly to other people mainly the people that she know calls her closest friends and takes it for herself basically implying that even though Sunset didn't hurt her directly she is just as much entitled to her resentment as every one else which I think is just completely nonsensical people are absolutely alluded to Lake wall flower blush these are my opinions and this is just Why I personally don't like the character and again like reiterating they have made characters before in the past who suffer with social anxiety and have done it really really well which is why specifically in this instance I just think she was completely unwarranted with her reactions to everything and I know I'm going to get a lot of responses to this video trying to come to her defense but I'll let you know that I have heard all I've heard other people trying to defend this character I just personally don't like her and you can't change my mind about it I'm really really sorry but you can't I can't find empathy and sympathy for a character who sees someone work so hard to turn their entire life around and become a better version of themsel and instead of being inspired by that and reflecting inwardly you lash out at them and try to not only hurt them but the people closest to them as collateral damage but these are just my opinions you're entitled to your own just like I'm entitled to Maine this is sunset sing off
