The interaction between him and Jack makes me cringe. I feel sorry for the kid

So much for the tent discount code. This guy has the attention span of a brain damaged squirrel with ADHD.

Pure clickbait title. He never answers the question in the video title - why he bought a log. It ensures people watch the whole video and he gets the maximum AdSense revenue.

15 year old Jack easily refutes Cody's bullshit logic about logging being good for the environment.

In the comments, someone noted the resemblance between Cody and Randy Marsh from South Park.

good morning friends on this rainy thursday morning i've got a very exciting video for you today we're buying some big old growth doug fur logs from my friend down at the sawmill and the jack and i are getting ready to go pick those up so we got to put the forks on the yanmar we just loaded up all the fuel cells on the flatbeds we got to pull all that stuff off there and then we'll load up and then head on down there but i think you'll really enjoy it it's very a very interesting sawmill a good friend of mine that i've been wildland firefighter with and been done quite a bit of stuff with he's a log buyer uh and timber crews a really interesting guy jeremy uh and he told me about these they've been coming sitting aside for me they're kind of special so let's get things loaded up and head on down there and see if we can't get those big monsters over here [Music] jack's pulling the truck out we gotta unload the bikes and get the trailer loaded up here [Music] don't grab that side a chance oh yeah two right of course okay hold i wonder if we put it up on one wheel like this it'll roll a little bit better get off that ski [Music] set the two of two and five that's two and five sixteenths all of our trailers are two except for the big one that's two and five we're going to take the snow plow off too put the forks on [Music] i'll put this on you i'll pull the blocks and throw them in the back of the wheel box wait hold the wheel block oh okay oh wheel blocks just such a memory of my granddad he was paranoid about flat tires he would anytime he saw a nail or a screw on the ground he picked up put his pocket i always thought that was strange when i was a boy but trust me i get it now whenever you're carrying a load on a tractor whether it be a bucket of gravel or even a forklift or anything with forks the first thing you want to do as soon as you can clear your pallet racks or whatever is to get that load load right on the ground why because that way you don't have a uh what's it called center of gravity yeah yeah you get a heavy load this is a lot of weight how much is a gallon of fuel away just under eight pounds and there's 100 gallons in there so that's almost half a ton right with the tank and all that so when you have that weight up high that center of gravity is really tippy it's like putting something on top of a little post it's really typical i have to do is just touch it falls over or if it's down on the ground and low it's very stable so the moment you clear your obstruction get it down on the ground and make a lot safer for you transporting especially with tractors with gravel uh yeah what's up okay so what are we doing today what are we trying to accomplish we're going to the lumber mill we're taking up two logs and we're reporting it while we're there and we're bringing it back i've heard of the recording part so we got the trailer hooked up we have trucks all that right what's the next thing that we're gonna need to make sure we have with us uh tie-downs right and so when you're hauling timbers or logs or anything like that typically you're gonna use chains because they're stronger than those green straps so we need chains and binders right one of the things that i'll show you here so grab these handful these chains i just want to grab a handful of chains any way you can so just grab all these typically grab chains by the hooks like that well that's a little short one we don't need these of a short guys but we'll feed the big ones and we're gonna want to take some bites a short one too isn't it one long one let's just one thing with trailers whenever you're hauling take a broom especially been hauling gravel take a broom and sweep it we don't have to do that here because we just have some paper and things on there but never leave anything on your trailer deck i've had a dozen broken windows from unscrupulous truck drivers who didn't sweep their decks as they go along gravel falls off and break some of the windshield so anything that's on here always be sure and check that before you hit the road yep yeah that should be good i think we're good i got the binder yeah let's do it you're ready to get out i think so let's be driving some water all right jack and i have arrived at the mill we're just waiting on my uh buddy to uh come get us and take us to uh our logs look at the size of that fuel tank jack that's must be what they uh uh how they fuel up all the equipment yeah i'll try to get oh there i can see it right now see if you guys can see that they have massive forklifts you can see right there that unloaded an entire log truck in one bite you it's hard to get the scale of these things you're talking like in excess of what what's what's that got away 60 000 [Music] pounds the tugboat that is cool i think it's probably no more than 10 feet long so jeremy put us on the scale here and we'll get the weight before and the way after kind of get an idea of how much wood we have the fact is all of the sawdust that's generated from the mill in this mill is massive um is used to produce all their own power oh so they're what burning it see the saddest piles over there shooting out zoom that up on there you'll see that shoot yep and they're just burning that for power yeah they'll dry that and burn that and create their own power cool so i just talked to the yard guy and uh he's a subscriber of the channel we just i didn't realize the time but his son and jack wrestled against each other last year uh and he asked if i'd be interested in coming down and shooting a video in the mill and i said absolutely so we're gonna try to do that i said just tell me when i'll block off the whole day and we'll come down here and this would be some of the coolest stuff you've ever seen so where'd jeremy go i don't know i bet those are logs right there oh there he is well you're not getting this money down here i didn't bring a hard hat so you want me to stay in here until we get out he's really good at loading so yeah i'll just i'll go get the bind them up off site there so you don't get trouble oh those are nice yeah they got a little bit of that uh we call it spangle which is like that pitch but overall there's plenty of recovery in them i talked to a guy yesterday this kind of where you just stuff this little eyeball [Music] [Music] is [Music] now [Music] yeah that's a big boy over there [Music] oh [Music] so jeremy's just gonna scale these logs so he's gonna check the length here so you check the length and the width and then you scale from the smaller side right yeah so the diameter on the small end's uh 18 inches length is 17 feet so we just go into our handy-dandy little scale book scaling book which doesn't really change over time we're west side scale and there's a look up table in here that simply shows uh diameter and length on scrivener scale so right here we're at uh 18 inches and 17 feet so there's 230 board feet gives you the board feet and so basically by going through the small end what you guys are paying for is is a cylinder of wood at that diameter all the way through so there's a little bit more on the fat side right that's right but that's not included in the in the board foot measurement so the recovery is gained on in the the wood that's outside of the cylinder that's not actually measured by that small end diameter now what happens if you're locking stuff that has real extreme tapers in it the mill does better on it better for the mill worse for the logger is there a different scale for that sort of material or stuff that you get up in higher elevations or well like on the east side of the cascade mountains they they scale on an east side scale which is short log scale so if logs any log over 20 feet gets broken into segments which i think is 24 feet but anyhow so if like for instance a 32 foot log gets skilled as two 16 footers on the west side scale we just feel that is you know if it's an eight-inch log on the small end it's scaled as a eight-inch by thirty-two foot log on the inside they go actual taper and they they measure or estimate the diameter at the middle of a log and so you get a about a 25 to 30 percent higher scale on east side scale than you do on west side that way you break it up and you don't get beat up so bad by that taper exactly got it so what's the diameter of this big one here so it's two foot six inches so it's 30 inch diameter on the small end and it's the same length so we've got a 30 30 and uh 17 700 more feet on that one jeremy's got that big one over there how big would you estimate the diameter that one is that's it's right about uh 49 50 inches on the small end 50 inches so we're gonna try figure out if we can get that thing loaded on a log truck and have it brought up that's an old growth isn't it definitely old growth this log's got a little bit of defect i'll be i'll knock off ten percent of the volume on this log because it's got this this heart check in it's we call it spangle spangle or checking so you also grade the quality so when you're grading these things if it's got uh maybe like a spike nut or a shake or defect like that you you knock off a little for it that's all there is to it and normally in a production scaling program this goes through an electronic program that automatically looks this stuff up but only small log sales we just do it manually that is cool those are good looking logs so we're just for fun we're gonna go back through the scale and see how much weight we have i don't know if i've ever had this much weight on this trailer before i was pretty ambitious to think i was going to get more than two logs out of here those are big well we got one big one and then one smaller one those are perfect jack that's exactly what we wanted so these if you didn't hear back there these are too big to go through the mill they kind of don't like to take anything or can't chuck anything bigger than 32 inch 36 inches and so they'll set these things aside for small log sales and such like the 300 000 mile truck is struggling a bit here in this mud we don't want to stop i'll tell you that look at those black birds up there on top of those logs i wonder why they're up there there must be something up there they like to eat oh they're on ours too look at that what types of birds are those well there's multiple types there and uh with my bird knowledge i'd say that they are in fact birds those are black birds those birds are proof that logging is good for the environment feeding the feeding the forest creatures wouldn't you say you make that argument to some extent yeah i'd say at these this point theos are not forest creatures [Laughter] i would say those are sawmill creatures they're probably the equivalent of a new york pigeon yeah i'm glad i got those 10 flat tires on there probably a 500 horsepower engine in the back of that thing yeah we're good man what you got 500 pounds that's right on it that's i think that's what the trailer just so yeah you know that other load might even be a slight bit lighter but you better be a little light but too heavy that's right so you guys can uh you can pull around by that that ramp or that truck sitting yeah you can do your binders and okay i got i got a run right i'm sorry to keep you waiting no we had like four phone calls right you guys showed up oh no problem i really appreciate it and all uh i was just gonna do uh like 500 bucks per thousand whatever so did you hear that the weight what we were at in this ticket yeah five thousand five hundred and forty five five hundred pounds for two logs all right so we're gonna go down here get out of the mud and jack and i'll throw some binders on there and head on back up the mountain pretty sure at this point it's making a dent in the trailer it's gonna keep itself in there it doesn't look like those three blocks are gonna stop that long [Applause] [Music] okay [Music] all right come over here i'll show you how to do a binder so to orient it right just grab it this is closed and this is open i always grab them and the handle always goes up when you start bring your chain over throw it on make sure it's in a way where it when it closes it's gonna not be under here right and hook it on and change that's a little bit too loose yep grab one more it should beat so it's pretty tight make sure you hit it like that but that's pretty good if you can get another one that's not bad it's only better never put it in the holes right never put it never put a chain in the hole these guys will stick up a little bit and prevent that from going all the way so if you see that so put that down hold the strength of the bag and stay out of the way of this arc yeah that'll flip up there if you lose it it'll break your jaw you should always take something and whack it afterwards you see how that's sitting up there on that chain yep right there whack it get it down there all the way now that's past center and it is unlikely it'll come off [Music] nice a kick that looks good i think we're ready to go all right so this would be a good time for you to learn how to drive a trailer no i really don't think so not with two and a half to almost three tons in the back that is a pretty good load there those tires are bulged out a little bit aren't they a little bit all right hey you want to grab some lunch or just head home where are we going to park to grab lunch what in the world is going on with have you ever been eating blueberries how could you choose i have something very special to show you guys would you like to see what jack and i just brought home what put your shoes on it's pretty amazing come on we'll have to go out the other door she doesn't have any shoes should i go get your shoes oh [Music] how would you bring home can you believe that do you want me to pick you up sweetie and carry you over there mm-hmm that's a big one huh that's a big queen we got more coming we had so that's a 32 i think there's also a 54. whoa is that the one coming is it coming no when it dries up a little bit [Music] those are doug fur wow what are you gonna build me whatever you want i need a table for my office okay we'll sketch it out okay it's done and then help me figure out how we're gonna get that off of there how was it good i need some hot cocoa i bet you do okay [Music]
