so I was lucky enough to get these irons delivered and since it've been delivered there's been one question on my mind about these set of irons why are Wilson not talking about them more get in there now I'm going to be putting them fully to the test today look I've not even had them out the bag I lie right I have taken this off and put it back on I had to look at them at home I just couldn't help myself but I'm going to be putting them fully to the test today and I'm going to see who these irons are fully 100% aimed at because I think there's a little bit of a surprise in here I mean just look how beautiful this is let me go and take this wrapper off this 99 and show you like look that is an absolute thing of beauty look at the brushed area on the back minimalistic logo staff model forged and you know what it's not too thin is it I mean it definitely is on the thin side but we can all agree right here that is a beautiful looking iron and this year I've been looking enough to test the other models within this range and I like them that much I've been using them until now and I think without even hitting any of these shots these could seriously rival them now we're not just going to test them any way at all right we're going to put them fully to the test so if you were to go and purchase these you would know if they're any good let me explain this I'm going to test the long IR off the tea I'm going to use them on par 3es out the roof out the Fairway and I'm also going to tell you how far I carry each and every one of these irons so you literally have a guide now first off what are your thoughts on them I'm also going to address why I think Wilson are being very quiet about these irons compared to the competitors on the market and those competitors would be the titlist MB tailor made MB Callaway Apex okay let's start on 11 here 184 yards to this flag it's a nice way to start this video it really really is 184 yards I'm going to go 69 so let's have a look at this beauty right here I tell you what I'm so fortunate this taking wrappers off like this will never yet old and look at these this is the six9 I tell you what they are so shiny it's almost like you don't want to hit them and what also got me is the materials that I used to make these irons 8620 carbon steel and last time I checked that was one of the softest materials in the market so should provide some really nice feedback plus Precision miled face that shiny looks so good you you know so good okay six signs away 11th hole let's see how far these go and the feedback I get definitely going to hit a couple here for you I didn't get that great that's going to be interesting if it gets the carry oh it's a little short a little heavy first thing in the morning 170 carry I'll be honest I didn't get that at all let's try another one now what sticks out to me is when I place this down behind the ball for a staff MB Blaze style model it's quite a big head there's a little bit of offset and you know what that Top Line isn't too scary well in my opinion let me know what you think okay let's see if I can get this swab that was definitely an early morning swing oh that was ripped absolutely honeyed can't hit a better one get a piece left side of middle okay so it seems as though I fully underestimated how far that was going to carry like I looked at it as a traditional sort of Blade and thought oh you know what I'm not going to be able to get it like I can normally this right here is the first shot where we hit and then the second towards the back the 2011 carry and I have to say one thing it did feel very soft that like really nice very responsive off the face but at the same time it didn't feel very hard work okay I got picture wedge in my hand I probably wouldn't usually use pitching wedge to chip this shot but you know what I'm dying to see and feel what this wedge feels like I have to say the weighting of this club and the head is very very nice and this wedge sh shape is similar to what I would have in let's say a normal wedge and I call it specialist wedge in terms of what I use in my poies it's a very very similar shape oh it played lovely yes it's the wrong Club but again I would say that felt seriously seriously soft off the face now remember we're Tred all these eyesome all different scenarios so look this is where they finished decent shots and I also want to address the point why you don't really hear about Wilson and why they're not shouting about these ions but next up I'm if it's six goes that far I'm dying to see what I could hit for ran now I'm going to use off the tea because on the 12th hole I have been known in the past to hit an iron into this spot right here it's like Prime when dri is not feeling good these trees out here are seriously in play so you know what this is a prime prime scenario to use this for right what's interesting me so far is I'm not feeling that these are like a traditional blade which makes me think who are they actually designed for okay have a look at this four iron as I mentioned on the six iron you've got a tiny little bit of offset it's I'm not going to say chunky but it I've seen thinner top lines there is something in this technology here which is interesting me which we're going to come to but have a look at this down behind the ball again it's not like a traditional blade in my opinion that Top Line isn't super thin don't get me wrong everybody it is thin but you don't stand here personally and think waa that's scary and that's not me being bigheaded that's not me saying I should use them that's just me saying like again who are these aimed at I mean look at that that's beautiful and I think the reason why I'm so intrigued about this 4 iron is how far the six I am went and yeah you need a long ey don't you when drivers not performing hes like this you just need to get the ball in play you need a long ey that performs and well in this set the wrong ey is a four oh I've ripped that look at the flight on it I tell you what it does feel soft it does feel the balls on that face for a long time it almost feel like it's absorbed in there ooh that's interesting I felt like I really got that good now remember and it went 1 194 now remember I hit the 6 iron 2011 on the carry it did have a slightly flatter trajectory so potentially more roll out but isn't that interesting isn't isn't that interesting maybe they aren't maybe they are as forgiving as I thought let's hit some more for iron in again I hit that good coming back finishing right half of the Fairway that was a much well I say much better hit it's exactly the same 204 so a little bit longer but still very very similar to the six iron and you know what I I guess that's the well maybe one of the issues and let me explain what I mean with issues like these are obviously a bladey style club and with blady style clubs what sometimes you feel you get you might not always get right out the middle and then you do sacrific distance don't you we know if we don't get it quite out the middle ball speed is significantly reduced and we definitely saw that there 6 and four going very similar distances let's also talk Lofts now with these being an MB blade style set we definitely do see more sort of traditional Lofts so you can get these in two iron all the way down to Gat wedge but I've got the four iron down to pitching wge so the four iron is 23° the five irons 26 the 6 irons 30° the 7 irons 34 the8 irons 38 the nine irons 42 and the pitching wedge is 46 now that is definitely sort of what I'd call like modern traditional let's talk a little bit of tech because there is some things in this club this staff model from Wilson that does help you but we do have some irons left to hit too now I mentioned at the start of this video that I'd already tried the Wilson Dino Power irons and I was gaming them up until putting these in the bag to try them today now on those you have the sort of husle design what I just showed you a minute ago that black bit now essentially this staff model has an adaptation of what's in the Wilson Dino Power irons now this basically allows Wilson to put more weight towards the toe elevating the overall performance of the iron and what it means by elevating is I'm reading that as makes them a little bit more forgiving than a traditional blade so there is some tech in there which I think is really really smart look where these are finished this is prime we can now test one out the roof and one out the Fairway with the same Club let's see what feedback we get I'll be honest I'm really surprised right now that 4on I thought I'd get it a little further than that based on what I did with the 6 ion Okay so we've got 174 based on what I did on the par three I'm going to go with 79 here which actually then only leaves us two irons left to try on yardages so let's say on average the six iron was 190s just as an overall because we hit one around a 170 Mark which I didn't quite get and then one over two 200 Y and then the four Rines have gone pretty much the same distance and what I mean by that is around the 200 yard Mark so very very similar to the six irons which is interesting okay let's go with seven iron it's got to get a quick this wonder how it performs out the roof we're there the flag is just sort of through here and of course we need to know how far this is going to fly I really like the look of these you know and it's probably the shininess to the dull area where the mil grooves are but I really love the look of these irons I've just been investigating this and looking at it a little closer and look at the attention to detail here like this little bit here looks really really nice and to me that's just a no um bag appeal but everybody likes a bit of bag appeal right we can't deny that by the way that's what I was meaning before this little toe this little heel thing here this huzzle seen it on a few of the ions that I've tried before in Wilson here we go out the roof oh look at that nice and high lovely launch you definitely know when you Struck One well and when you haven't carry 164 which is kind of like big difference compared to the 6on and the 79 maybe I just got an absolute flushed on with the first one that I hit with the six iron and really the six sign goes like 180s who knows we'll never know we will know we'll try a few more but let's try this out the Fairway oh that felt so good that just felt so good like a hot knife through butter like a hot knife through butter 160 again I tell you what I really really enjoyed those 79 like really enjoyed them the feedback the feel of the face felt very premium felt very highend it did feel soft and they give you this right you do know if you don't get them right you do know which you do get that feedback which I guess you've got to expect in a staff model you've got to expect in a blade style model but that one there the second one that I hit went 167 so pretty much the same as I hit it out the roof but the feedback the flight I could hit that all day I could hit that all day now Wilson aren't saying that these are like a super forgiving blade if you're wondering where hit them you can just see on the top of the hill there that's the one I hit out the roof there is our flag and there is the shot that I just hit from the Fairway whilst I get a TEEG to repair those pitch marks cuz I just broke them on the last te let me read this because oh they're all falling out because this is what Wilson say these irons are and I have to say I think they've got it absolutely spot on so Wilson described these IR as Tor proven performance in the hall Mark Wilson sty model blades designed for advanced player looking for the ultimate control the blades feature a soft forged carbon steel and precision mil face I'm definitely getting that feel I'm definitely getting that Vibe precise tow waiting keeps the face open until impact now for most let's say really good players they never want to see the ball go left so essentially having precise toe waiting they're calling it stops the face going left or closing so much therefore reducing those hooky shots and for let's say better players whatever we sort of class that as I actually think that is a really good thing so yeah these irons are really really impressing me but I would also add in the sort of lower end we're going to hit some eight irons now and we're going to hit some nine irons in that lower end you really do feel like you can get hold of them at any level so if you're looking for sort of something that looks really good you could sort of do a bit of a combo set so it's now time to address the big question why aren't Wilson talking about these irons cuz I find it guess frustrating is one of the words but I get it I get it and let me know what you think and what I'm about to say here you might like it you might not like it but I want to know your opinion so I got it wrong we've got N9 I 8 I and five I to get the yardages off so that's our next task but let's get back to this question and as I said let me know what you think on this so for a set of these irons they're around about £850 for four to pitch and wedge we're looking at a set of irons that are high quality Precision M very very soft carbon steel so what I'm saying here is top quality materials with a blade that has let's say some technology in it to help aid the player it's designed for now as I mentioned at the start of this video the competitors are the Callaway Apex the tailor made MB and the tight list MB now the price range of those if I'm just scanning on the market the color Apex are over ,000 for the same the titless MB are over 900 and the tailor made MB are over ,000 so that really does make you think how can Wilson produce something let's say that is the same quality unbelievable feel well I say the same qu we would know if it was or wasn't in the sense of these are really really good irons but for a lot less I've got an idea and my idea is this so if I ask you to name you got the fiveon a player who plays Wilson irons there's probably only one that comes to mind Podrick Harrington now I know he's a major Champion but that's one think how many players are paid by tight list Taylor Maid and Callaway so many so even though the same let's say the same or similar R&D goes in into this iron there isn't a big huge marketing overhead which for being honest definitely inflates the price so my thinking here is the reason why Wilson aren't shouting about these and shouting about any of their irons is simply because they let the tech do the talking also they don't have huge marketing budgets and pay big big players and when you see Brands pay big big players they have to shout about it because they paid the big players and they need to get the money back to make a profit that is my hunch now let me know what you think on this so we've hit the iron so far I'm really liking the sh irons the longer irons are quite hard to hit but you could do a combo maybe okay let's hit five irons let's see how far these go so here we go five irons away now the first time I hit this five ion I was actually surprised how high it went but that could be to do with the fact that they're more traditional lofted now one thing the feedback you get on hitting these irons like I've said all along in this video you know when you've hit it good you know when you've hit it bad and I'm not going to lie this is a little shorter than I currently hit my five now I had to settle this debate I was having in my mind about the six I just needed to hit one more because I wasn't sure if that first one was a little bit of a rogue hit so it turns out it was this six IR right here went 177 yards so a little bit shorter than what we had on the first one into the par three but but more like the average I would expect in terms of gapping with these clubs these are looking good so come on after seeing me hit those five irons seeing the yardage they went and then I just had to hit another six ion just simply because I just thought it was maybe a bit of a jumper I think based on that data that we hit one six9 and we hit on the par three that went over 200 yards I think that could have been a bit of a rogue one okay I've got a out in my hand here 150 from the flag let's see how laser accurate the shorter irons can be I tell you one thing right you know the tech was all about not hitting one left I've not hit one left at all that's above my feet two which usually would go left and I'll be honest my bad shot is a left yardage wise that just went 151 yards which you think about where I had 79 in that 165 Mark gapping seems to have sort of readjusted itself oh that is all over the flag come back 149 gapping those clubs very good we now just need to take a few steps further forward just so I can tell you how far we hit NS now I think I'm close to giving you the full story of exactly who these irons are aimed at 99 is bloody lovely right okay couple of 9 away first CL just turning over softly just turning over softly sat down to ATT tension 139 that hit 139 which really does just make sense in comparison to that eight iron okay final one away that's one of the best of the bunch I've been brave Go Go please get in there get in there now I know we cut that fine with that line but you can see here 139 again very very consistent gapping and that's with the 9 and I just had to hit a few wedges for good measure now one thing I would really comment on the noise is really solid it sounds like it sounds like a really I don't know how to describe it all I can say is satisfying especially when you get out the middle now obviously on those long irons I did see that distance not well I would say stay consistently as high on the offc center hits it wasn't as close to my on sense hits but with these irons you definitely would expect that now just run you through my overall yardages look how beautiful these look in the bag too right that is some serious bag appeal there isn't it serious bag appeal so in the four five and six iron four iron were around about the 200 yard mark five iron around the 190 and six iron if for being brutally honest like realistically around that 180 mark on average and then as we go into the shorter irons we in 165 with the 7 iron 150 roughly with the 8 iron 140 with the 9 and around the 135 Mark with the pitching wedge which honest is a little bit shorter than what I am currently forgetting that I'm using the Wilson Dino Power irons they are a little bit longer but my current set from last year the cobra tons they are a little shorter Now The Lofts are a little weaker that would explain that also there is less technology in them they are more blady but who are these irons are designed for well they're definitely designed for your better player but one thing that I would say if you were looking at a combo set and if they wanted to do this I don't know if you can correct me if I'm wrong I would definitely think like let's say AI 99 and wedge could be sort of a mid- handicappers club if I'm being honest above that which could be the stumbling block for a lot of people the sevene the 6ine the five ey the four IR they're really in my opinion for somebody that is a very low handicap player that wants a very very premium set of irons but at a cheaper price point so thank you so much for watching today's video on how good golf don't forget to subscribe and comment down below what you want me to test next cuz this channel is powered by you the viewers so whatever you comment down below saying you want me to test I will do my very three damn best to give it a try thanks for watching
