hey lovelies welcome back to my channel where i am helping to create hair care confidence one video at a time as you can see my hair is a hot mess so it's time to get my hair washed and styled but before i get into that shower i need to detangle my hair i never ever ever get in the shower to wash my hair before detangling it first because if i do oh my gosh so much shed hair will be all over the place and i just my dreams cannot afford it so i figured this would be the perfect time to review all the detangling brushes that i have because i have been getting so many questions about the detangling brush i've been using recently in my videos and i decided hey why not go ahead and show all of the brushes that i have so you guys can make your decision as to which one is best for you i'm going to first start out with the pattern beauty brush the pros to this brush is it has a nice sturdy heavy handle long bristles to really get into the tangles and help detangle and it also can be used to define curls possibly depending on your hair type con's very very very hard to clean oh my god i have poked my fingernails so many times trying to clean this thing and at 17 it's on the pricey end of the scale now before i detangle each section i always make sure to spray it down with some water that just helps to reactivate the product that's already on my hair and it helps to detangle the curls and as we all know you always start at the bottom of your uh hair you never start combing from the root to the tip to detangle always start at the bottom and work your way up now with this brush it feels very sturdy like it's not going to break it's not going to slip out of my hand because i have had that happen with some other brushes we'll get to that but this one creates enough tension and i can't think of the word but it just really works at the tangles in a way that's going to you know get them untangled in a healthy way that won't break your hair only thing about this brush is look how dirty it gets which i understand you know there's product in my hair there's dirt in my hair all kinds of things and it gets all in the base of the brush but that's very very hard to clean i can't tell you how many times i've reached in to try to clean this thing and one of the bristles slipped up under my fingernail and just created a wave of pain throughout my whole body and i'm like there has had to be a better way or a better brush and i think i might have found both and moving on to the next brush this is a amazon brush without a name it just says detangling brush on amazon the pros for this brush are inexpensive you can get two of these brushes for just 15 on amazon it's super super super easy to clean and it actually makes detangling my hair much easier the cons only have one it may be just a little bit too flexible that little hook thingy in the back comes off pretty easily so while i'm really like working and working at a knot or something or section with a lot of knots it can just come off and just throw the whole rhythm out of whack one of the things that i really love the most about this brush is you can brush in two different directions you can either do horizontally or vertically like i'm brushing right now and when you brush vertically it really helps to get those knots untangled and then once you get that worked out you can go back to using it horizontally i don't even know if that's one of the i don't know perks or whatever they list on the uh benefits of this brush i just kind of figured it out for myself and it just really helps to detangle my hair so much faster i would spend so much time detangling my hair prior to using this brush and it just gets everything done so quickly now i took off that little guard piece in the back and that wasn't the best idea i figured someone might be curious to know like how it works without that it seems to be that little guard piece keeps everything under control so unless you just have like straight hair i really don't see the use and using the brush without that little piece in the back and the other thing i like so much about this brush is it's so easy to clean like i can completely submerge this brush in water and get everything out of it it doesn't hold on to product at the base like the other brushes do it's just so easy to clean and i don't have to worry about poking the skin underneath my nails now moving on to the next brush we have the felicia leatherwood detangling brush the pros for this brush include reasonably priced at 14 or somewhere in the middle i guess it is easy to clean just like the amazon brush and depending on your hair texture it can help to define your curls cons to this brush oh my gosh this thing does not flex at all for me i don't i don't know it's just so stiff and the handle is so uncomfortable i used it to detangle my hair like half of my hair i think and my hand was so sore i wasn't even able to get through my whole head i'm sorry i just it was just so uncomfortable now y'all something interesting about this uh felicia leatherwood brush is i got it at the exact same time as i got the amazon brush i went to the carol's daughter event in new york last month as you all probably saw on my instagram account and this was one of the gifts they gave away in the goody bag but my sister-in-law she came along with me to that event and she gave me the amazon brush because you know she got two in her order and i'm like okay that's fine but this uh felicia leatherwood brush is gonna blow the amazon brush out of the water i keep seeing it all over social media i won't even need the amazon brush this brush was so disappointing to me i'm just being honest it really the way it's made is so uncomfortable to hold and it doesn't flex at all it's funny when you're purchasing hair tools you rarely ever think about the handle until you get one that's really uncomfortable to hold and when you're detangling your hair where you're constantly going over the same section and you have to use a lot of tension you want something comfortable now i did try to use it to define my curls and it didn't really define my curls but it didn't separate them in a bad way either so i really think it depends on how tight your curls are whether or not it will help to define your curls now moving on to the og of all of these brushes the denman brush the one pro that i have for the denman brush is it's a defining brush that you can use to detangle the cons are is very hard to clean not made for detangling hard to find at a good price i keep seeing different prices all over the place some high some low and it does come apart over time and i have to say it comes apart too fast now if you've been natural for a long time then you already know about the denim brush i'm sure you've heard about it a million times and you know how popular it is so you probably also know that a lot of people don't like the denman brush because it rips their hair out or breaks their hair off that's why i included it in this video i know it's technically not a detangling brush but because so many people use it to detangle i felt it important to demonstrate how to use it properly now if you see how i'm using the brush i'm using it vertically to detangle that's the best way to detangle with this brush even though it's not made for detangling i do think that you can still use it in a beneficial way you just have to be careful i also highly highly recommend that if you are going to use the demon brush to detangle you make sure that your hair is very very damp or there's some type of product with plenty of slip because that rubber base will pull your hair out if there's no product on your hair if you're just brushing dry hair i truly believe that this brush is at its best when it can easily glide across your hair and not like stutter step across dry strands because that's what's going to cause the pulling and the breakage and just overall disappointment and frustration with the brush now having said all of that helpful information i don't recommend using the denman brush as your main detangling brush now if you're going out of town and you want to pack light then okay fine you don't want to take two or three brushes just take the one and you know use it carefully or whatever but i would not recommend this as your regular weekly detangling brush because i think all of the work and the tension that is being put through causes that base to loosen up much sooner than it probably should i think i might be on my fifth or sixth denman brush i know one just got completely lost or left at someone's house somewhere along the lines but i've never had to repurchase a hair tool so often it was probably because i was detangling with it more than i should have been all right you guys that is it for this video i hope you all enjoyed it if so give me a big thumbs up let me know which brush is your favorite in the comment section below and if you don't have a favorite which one are you interested in purchasing now i will have everything linked in the description box below so make sure to check that out share
