you you designed your salvation plan even before creation before adam and eve by establishing your covenants with noah abraham moses and david then you fulfilled all these covenants by giving us your son jesus christ the bringer of the new covenant to redeem all those who calls on you indeed your will is awesome and perfect and so we are moved to worship you every day oh lord you know how stubborn we are and yet your love remains unchanged many times we forget how magnificent splendid and majestic you are and we just keep sinning and disobeying you if you were to confront us as you did jacob asking where were you when i laid the earth foundation oh lord we would be as damn founded as he was so god we ask once again that you forgive our sins those that are exposed and those that are hidden and cleanse us from every thought or action that displeases you help us to control our tongue and our thought so that we can live a life pleasing and acceptable to you oh lord we also want to pray for russia and ukraine we pray for peace between these two nations and we especially pray for those who have suffered because of these attacks may you protect them may you grant them food shelter clothing and lord we pray that you will convict the hearts of these leaders to stop the war and instead understand one another father as we listen to your word grant us a quiet spirit to hear you keep us from distractions and help us to focus on you alone remind us of your covenant with king david when you promised him that your love will never be taken away from him today we assert that you are indeed the eternal promise keeper in the name of jesus christ our redeemer amen and amen please take your seats uh good morning uecp so you might be wondering everyone at home worshipping with us because we are on dry run we want to practice all the registration all the online things that we want you to do before you come here so we're practicing so that next week when we open to our members there will be no problems okay so again before i was about to come up here yo said aya kina so thank you for asking that question so today the title of our message is when god says no to us have you ever experienced that time in your life when you prayed for something or for someone but god said no how did you react or how did you face that no from god and even for christians it's hard when god says no so in 2nd samuel 7 today david [Music] with a pure heart wanted to do something great for god but still god said no god said no so this morning let's learn from david on how he faced god's no and what did god have in store for him see in one of the parables of jesus he told of a rich man who had so much possessions he had nowhere to put them and the rich man said to himself i will tear down my present barns and build bigger barns so that i can store up all my possessions which evidently is what is important to him then jesus said in this parable of the rich man in luke 12 20 he said you fool this very night your life will be demanded from you then who will get what you have prepared for yourself this is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward god now if we think of king david a man who had every reason to be proud of the things that god had done for him and we look at the things that were really of great concern to king david it's obvious that david's interest was not to get more for himself but actually to give more to god so in psalm 132 we can see that david's interest was not to really gain more but it was a desire for god and i think this is the reason that makes david different that he is called a man after god's own heart because even if he had the right to be you know proud to live you know a very comfortable life and etc he still had a desire for god was for god and i'd like to read psalm 132 it says he swore an oath to the lord he made a vow to the mighty one of jacob i will not enter my house or go to my bed i will allow no sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids till i find a place for the lord a dwelling place for the mighty one of jacob my friends in the parable of the rich man the rich man's interests were for himself and his possessions but david's interests were for god many of us today live like that we are the boss of our life but we forget that god is the boss so remember the parable in the bible when jesus healed the ten lepers and only one came back to thank him and sometimes this is us we are a forgetful generation and sometimes we forget to thank god to go back to god and thank him so our passage today in 2nd samuel 7 describes what were possibly the best days in the life of king david he was the king of israel his nation was united and at peace david was enjoying a time of rest and for david these days were a time to meditate and reflect on the blessings and grace of god so as david meditated on the lord and and the law a dream now he had a dream that was born in his heart he wanted to build a permanent dwelling place for god david had a dream and in verse 1 okay it says after the king was settled in his palace and the lord had given him rest from all his enemies around him he said to nathan the prophet here i am living in a house of saddar while the ark of god remains in a tenth and verse 3 nathan replied to the king whatever you have in mind go ahead and do it for the lord is with you is it david's dream what's a great dream actually very pure and very noble david's dream was to build a house for god and this came from a good heart a heart that puts god first in all things that he does it came it comes from a gracious heart a heart that is full of gratitude and thankfulness and and um the prophet sabine go ahead build the house of god but you know sometimes this is our mistake at times you see it it doesn't mean if it's a good idea then it means it's a go from god divine deported individual god so what god wants from us is that in everything that we do we have to commit it to the lord pray and seek god if this is what he wants us to do for him in proverbs 16 verse 3 it says commit to the lord whatever you do and he will establish your plans so what should you do when god says no we're going to look at verse 4 to 16. now what should we do when god says no to us to our dreams how are how should we react how should we react have you ever dreamed of doing something great for god but he said no but sometimes the church we have many dreams have you ever prayed for a child and god said no have you ever prayed for a business opportunity and god said no to you have you ever prayed for young dream job what was your dream job when i was young [Music] 80 pounds ago to get into your dream college well we had that dream college how would you feel you know god says no to you peru heart mo it's good it's gracious it's godly you have the right motive but god still says no and oftentimes we would feel hurt we would feel it's unfair we will feel disheartened so let's look at how david faced this and what did god tell david so in verse 4 it says but that night the word of the lord came to nathan saying go and tell my servant david this is what the lord says are you the one to build me a house to dwell in i have not dwelt in the house from the day i brought the israelites up out of egypt to this day i have been moving from place to place with a tent as my dwelling wherever i have moved with all the israelites did i ever say to any of their rulers whom i commanded to shepherd my people israel why have you not built me a house of cedar so what did god have in store for david after god said no he comforts david with his promises okay so let's look at verse 8 it says now then tell my servant david this is what the lord almighty says i took you from the pasture from tending the flock and appointed you ruler over my people israel so let's stop there it says david is appointed to be a ruler over my people israel now who appointed david to be the ruler the point is god god is sovereign and he is in control the unseen hand of god is behind the experiences of david and it is he who has brought david to the place where he is now the ruler then in verse 9 it said i have been with you wherever you have gone i've cut off all your enemies from before you and now i will make your name great like the names of the greatest men on earth so who was responsible for the victories of david who made the name of david great it's god and david is great because there is someone greater and that is our god in heaven sometimes we forget no um when we're a new christian it's easy you know we rely on god but the longer we become a lot the more we grow sometimes instead of depending on god we depend on ourselves we forget that it's all about god we are here today being able to serve him to worship him because it's about god verse 10 it says and i will provide a place for my people israel and verse 11 the lord declares to you that the lord himself will establish a house for you you see god will not literally provide a house because david already had the house okay but god was actually promising david a dynasty now he was telling david you're gonna have a dynasty i'm gonna promise you this you will have a dynasty a dynasty that involves the raising up of emmanuel the lord jesus christ god with us verse 12 when your days are over and you rest with your ancestors i will raise up your offspring to succeed you your own flesh and blood and i will establish his kingdom verse 13 he is the one who will build a house for my name and i will establish the throne of his kingdom forever so god is saying no it's not going to be you but it's going to be your son solomon verse 14 i will be his father and he will be my son when he does wrong i will punish him with a rod wielded by men with floggings inflicted by human hands so why is this important for us to understand you see god says i will be his father and he will be my son never before in the old testament passages of scripture has it been made clear that the relationship that god will have with solomon will be like a father to a son and that relationship between god and solomon will break out in the pages of the new testament so that we will be called children of god and heirs of god and joint heirs with jesus christ you see there's a glimpse here in this promise in this covenant that god is making with david of such a close relationship with god in verse 15 it says but my love will never be taken away from him as i took it away from soul whom i removed from before you your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me your throne will be established forever so when god is speaking to david here about solomon about his dynasty stretching down he's not just talking to david he's not just talking about king sitting in jerusalem he's thinking about the new covenant he's thinking about you and me he's thinking about his relationship with his people that begins here with david and it's going to stretch forever and ever and forever so everyone today what should we do when god says no to us three things that i want us to trust in okay number one we can trust his heart you see god always has a better plan for us even if we don't understand it david wanted to build a house for god but god had a better plan in mind see when life seems unfair when our dreams are met with a dead end we can trust his heart because god is sovereign and he is in control dubai but we still have to trust his heart because his plans are still better than our plans so when god says no to your dream girl to your dream job your dream car to your dream career it's because god has a better plan so we have to trust his heart second trust in his promises you see god promised david that his house will last forever god promised david that his name will be great god promised that his love will never be taken away i know at times life may seem to be against us life may discourage us but i want to remind all of us today is we can forever put our trust in god's promises we can trust in god's promises because his word is true and alive then lastly what was david's reaction when god said no david trusted and obeyed you see in verse 18 to 22 it's not there in the slides in verse 18 chapter 7 of second somewhat then king david went in and sat before the lord have you ever done that now go to a place and just sit before the lord now i think we've done this now usually if we're in camps we're in retreats we just go to a you know a the nature we sit there we sit before the lord so here it says king david went in and sat before the lord and he said who am i sovereign lord and what is my family that you have brought me this far so what does this show for me it shows that david comes with a childlike attitude and he sits before god and says i'm nothing you are the lord of my life so david with humility accepts god snow that's so difficult right for me i can just imagine i'm here absolutely david no but he accepts it with humility with humility and verse 19 to 22 i'll read for you and as if there were not enough in your side and as if this were not enough in your sight sovereign lord you have also spoken about the future of the house of your servant and this decree sovereign lord is for a mere human what more can david say to you for you know your servant sovereign lord for the sake of your word and according to your will you have done this great thing and made it known to your servant so david was really so humble he calls himself i'm your servant i'm your servant i'm your servant and verse 22 how great you are sovereign lord there is no one like you and there is no god but you as we have heard with our own ears so david with all his humility even when god said no he praises god because he knows that there is no one like his god and there is no one like the god that he has who is in control of all things like to end with this story there was once a family in scotland okay named the clark family their dream was to go to the united states i've talked to people so going back to the story this family the clark family he had a lot of children no man nine nine children and the dream of the parents was to bring his whole family out of scotland and to the united states they they lived a very hard life they saved all they could and one day they got all the paperwork they were able to buy their uh tickets okay there were um they were gonna ride a ship okay you know you know a big ship all the way to the us then a tragedy had struck the family seven days before they were to board the ship the youngest uh child was bitten by a dog have you ever been bitten by a dog okay the bite wasn't serious but the doctor stitched the wound but there was a problem the doctor had to hang a yellow sign on the home of that family the clark family the yellow sign warned everybody to stay away there was a possibility a very small chance that the boy had contracted rabies from the bite of the anundo so the ship was to live in a week but they had to be quarantined for two weeks the clark family had to miss their ship they missed it and their dreams were shattered the father can you imagine how the father felt the father felt anger he felt it was unfair he felt it was unjust that everything he had worked for now allah and the father was angry at god and he cried in pain why why why sabina bucket lord bakken then after a few days after the ship had left the port he got word that on april 15 the very ship that they were supposed to ride and bring them to the united states had been sunk it sank the titanic had gone down it had taken with it the lives of over 1500 passengers so hearing that news mr clark's attitude was transformed he hugged his son he hugged his son now god's no to them didn't mean that you know it was for their bad actually it was for their good so today the message that i want us to learn is when god says no to your dreams it is because he has a better plan for you when god says no to you your son's dreams your family's dreams it's because he has a better plan for you shall we pray lord we know that at times when you say no to us we get discouraged we lose we lose our heart we lose our faith we get self-pity but lord may this message today remind us that you are our god and that you always have a better plan in store for us help us to be like david with a childlike attitude when you say no to us we would come to you sit before you praise you and learn to obey you again we give back all the glory to you in jesus name we pray amen let us continue to reflect as we sing of the goodness of god so [Music] i love you lord for your mercy never [Music] oh i will say of the goodness of god [Music] i love your voice you have led me through the fire in darkest nights you are close like no other i've known you as a father i've known you as a friend and i have lived in the goodness of god oh [Music] of the goodness of god [Music] is [Music] oh [Music] with every breath that i [Music] of the goodness of god oh [Music] oh [Music] of the goodness of god [Music] brothers and sisters who are here with us this morning and who are at home joining our livestream worship let's prepare ourselves as we come before the lord's table the holy communion is not a meaningless ritual christians do it is a powerful symbol that sustains us in our daily pilgrimage through the remembrance of the selfless act of our king with the bread and the wine we are reminded that man does not live by bread alone but by the word that comes from god the word who became flesh gave up his body poured out his blood on the cross that our sins may be forgiven and that we may have new life in him so brothers and sisters as we come before our lord's table this morning let us remember and take time to reflect on the sacrifice of our lord confess our sins ask for forgiveness and rededicate our lives to him let us also put our trust in him knowing that his grace is sufficient for us and is able to sustain us through the hardships of life let's take time to reflect on all careful bahamut after supper jesus took the cup saying this cup is the new covenant in my blood do this whenever you drink it in remembrance of me let's drink of the cup together remembering the blood of jesus that was shed for the forgiveness of our sins oh lord we thank you for the bread and the wine which reminds us of your sacrifice for us your people may we live each day acknowledging that we live by your grace alone which is eternally sufficient for us through your son jesus christ amen let's recite the apostles creed together i believe in god the father almighty maker of heaven and earth and in jesus christ his only son our lord who was conceived by the holy spirit born of the virgin mary suffered under pontius pilate was crucified died and was buried he descended into hades on the third day he rose again from the dead he ascended into the heaven sat down on the right hand of god the father almighty from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead i believe in the holy 14 14-17 says what good is it my brothers if someone says he has faith but not does not have works can that faith save him if a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food and one of you says to them go in peace be warmed and filled without giving them the things needed for the body what good is that so also faith by itself if it does not have works it's dead indeed because of your compassion donations to our charity fund has increased fourfold and as a result uecp is able to give assistance to more needy members we have collected over 1.7 million pesos and these are
