What's Inside a Police Vehicle?

[Music] hi guys my name is officer Vasquez today I'm going to be taking you inside it's a unit so that you can see all the tools we use everything that is inside of a standard patrol police officer come on let's take a look okay so we're here in the driver's seat of our new slick top unit I'm sure all you guys want to see our control panel that's where we control all the lights and everything that we use to go to calls or only code three with all our lights and sirens so if we're gonna go to a call what we call code three meeting with all of our lights and sirens on we just go all the way to the right and make sure so this panel controls all of our lights from the light bar to our spotlights to our rear lights that is primarily what all of these buttons are for the next thing I'm gonna show you guys is our radio which is gonna be right below it right here so this is the radio that we use to communicate all day every single day we have various channels on our radio they are all used for different things this controls the volume anytime we just want to speak on the radio we just hit this button right here speak and then let it go now I'm gonna show you our MDT which is our computer that we use to receive calls to view calls and also to read our reports while we're out in the field all right guys so this is what it looks like when I log on to our system to review our calls for service and get dispatched to calls first thing I'll check when I log on is be calls pending for service so we also have our body worn cameras anytime I activate my camera that I'm wearing it's going to also activate the camera that's in my unit so if I'm out of my unit and I'm talking to somebody and I activate my camera it's also going to activate the camera that's in my unit if I roll code three remember that means with lights and sirens it's also gonna activate my camera in the vehicle so now I'm going to show you a few of our firearms that we carry in every unit we carry three firearms in each unit one is going to be our ar-15 which is right here we carry a shotgun and then we also carry a less lethal beanbag gun that's gonna be in the trunks of each unit I'll show you that here it's gonna be the trunk of the vehicle in the trunk of the vehicle we carry a lot of different tools the beanbag is going to be one of the tools that we carry so moving on to other things that we carry in the trunk I'm gonna explain them to you and give you a brief little explanation of what we use them for these items right here are called flares if we have a traffic accident or if we need to shut down traffic for any reason we're going to use these I'm sure many of you are familiar with this see it all over the news and or even driving around you see police that they need to create a crime scene or also to shut down traffic we're going to use our take the bike racks go and either the front of the unit or in the back of the unit it just depends which unit the officer is driving that day the next item I'm going to go over is our fire extinguisher it's pretty self-explanatory anytime there's a fire that we go to it's a small fire we can try to extinguish it ourselves if we arrive prior to the fire department next thing we're going to go over is our medical bag so anytime we're going to a call where somebody may not be breathing and they need CPR performed on them we're gonna take this bag inside with us which has all of our tools and equipment such as bandages and Ambu bag which is used to perform CPR and other various medical equipment that we may need responding to a call such as that way okay guys we've gone over all of the equipment and each unit all of the electrical equipment that we use computer the white bar system and our radio last thing I'm sure you're all dying C is the KH portion of each unit anytime anybody goes into the back of each unit we always seatbelt them seatbelts are a little bit different than they are in a normal vehicle you would unbuckle it from right there and then we buckle them in just like a normal seat belt all right so we've covered pretty much everything and the unit got over all the equipment we you the tools that we have in each unit I hope that you guys enjoyed learning a little bit about what's in our office I'm gonna go code three to a call with lights and sirens we turn it all the way on and make sure that this is on well they're very helpful this is how I have to get short people problem
