the Dolphins smack them around they embarrass the bottom of the Barrel in the NFL but when they play to cream a crop all of a sudden it changes it changes the Dolphins aren't comfortable making to a a $ 58 million quarterback 56 whatever if they're not comfortable they have ways out of it that's all I'm saying which means Tua does not have all of the are the Dolphins legit superow contenders is a question of do you think two has another level he can get to for decades the Miami Dolphins have been a source of both hope never disrespect Tua you see Ryan Clark apologize it's Tua season get my quarterback's name out your mouth making the playoff this I didn't say we're winning the division we just got to get through the first part of the Season can the whole AFC East go to the playoffs and heartbreak for their dedicated fan base I am pissed off I am upset despite it storyed history the team has failed to secure a division title in the last 15 years and has not won a playoff game since 2000 and now guess things have been a lot better since Mike McDaniel took over in 2022 and introduced his exciting brand of offense but there are several underlying problems that will mean successes farther away than it seems this is the scary truth about the 2024 Miami Dolphins the 2020 draft class of quarterbacks was absolutely spectacular we are so used to seeing quarterbacks struggle early so for all of Joe burrow tuuga aloa Justin Herbert Jordan love and Jaylen Herz to be in the top 10 conversation is frankly outstanding there is quality in that bunch of players with four of them signing second contracts with their team already the one player who hasn't though to a of aloa and I mean there are several reasons that the Dolphins haven't felt comfortable giving him that money yet to a 53 million uh no because I had you know Tyreek Hill takes up 12% of the cap wad takes up 8% of the cap now that's 20% of the cap if I go and pay Tua you know 35 30% of the cap what do I have left for the rest of my team but I'm I'm down this road I'm I've already gone down the road 80% of my offense comes to these two receivers like I mean ideally he would have received his second contract after his second year but I mean after the 2022 season all of the injuries that he's faced so far up to this point just hasn't made it possible fractured ribs and a fractured finger led him to missing four games in 2021 before the concerning bout of concussion struck in 2022 during this stretch there was good play by Tua but not enough to convince the team that he had the quality or even the durability to earn a second deal he then bulked up for the 2023 season and delivered a fantastic fully healthy season in which his 4,624 yards were the most in the NFL going alongside with a career-high 29 touchdowns and 14 interceptions like I mean it was almost exactly what the Dolphins wanted to see out of him and in all honesty I mean it's probably enough to earn him that second lucrative contract of his however there's still are a good amount of significant concern that Dolphins fans should feel a little nervous about firstly and I think the biggest one besides the concussions is there is a big issue of whether Tua can get the job done in big games a lead but on the good teams y'all can't put up points on these good teams so that's what stood out to me the most and I was sitting there watching the game like these dudes ain't legit I don't care how talented the roster is the three really good football teams it wasn't close it was it wasn't even a fight if you watch the game you may say It's a Fight by the score but if you really watch the game you're like come on man the Dolphins shouldn't even been on the field with those three good teams and don't get me wrong he was pretty awesome pretty good honestly throughout the entire 2023 season but I mean there were significant slip UPS against like better teams in the NFL the six losses on the record were to Philadelphia Kansas City Tennessee Baltimore and buffalo twice yes they are good teams and good teams are hard to beat but that's how you're going to win a championship during the impressive 2023 campaign Miami had a 1 in5 record against playoff teams and a 10-1 record against non-playoff teams oh and by the way that one victory that came against the playoff team was against Dallas of all teams and I mean they're a team that also can't beat any good team so like does that actually mean that that was really a good win of theirs and yes while football is a team sport and every other position on the field does matter we all know that the quarterback position has the biggest influence on the outcome of a game so you're probably wondering Le's going to ask me in the comment section how did he perform against those six playoff teams in the season well he averaged 232 yards one touchdown in one interception per game that's just not great period Point Blank That's not great like you want a quarterback who can put the team on his back and take over against good opponents Tua didn't do any of that in any of those games and unfortunately these struggle sort of materialized in the 2022 season as well after getting off to a strong start Tua ended the season on an abysmal four game losing stretch in which the Dolphins lost to the San Francisco 49ers Los Angeles Chargers Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers during that four gam stretch two it through five interceptions having only thrown three in the nine games he played to start the year and now the other standout concern I mean I know it's going to sound a little bit weird to even call this a concern and it's not even directly just Tua but I mean honestly to that entire Dolphins team and it's the fact that they're recording cold weather games just for the whole team is terrible in games with a temperature below 50° at kickoff the Dolphins have a record of 2- 20 in their last 22 games Tua himself is 0 and3 in such games since the beginning of the 2020 season that is not good news for a team based in the AFC who are likely to have to run through the frigid temperatures of Buffalo Kansas City or Cincinnati if they are to enjoy a deep playoff run anytime soon nobody gave the Miami Dolphins a chance in their Wild Card clash in Kansas City during the 2023 playoffs despite being the third highest scoring team in the NFL going up against a Kansas City team who looked sloppy for most of the year nobody backed them to get it done in what turned out to be the fourth coldest game in NFL history at -13° with a windshell factor of- 48 the Chiefs had the weather on their side that day and it resulted in a putrid seven point showing from the Dolphins as they fell to a 26 to7 defeat that continued their streak of no playoff victories in 23 years unfortunately the perception of MI being a soft team is deserved Tu it can't win big games and the team can't perform in cold weather the consequences of this is no playoff joy since the early 2000s in two seasons most recently that started electric only to fizzle out into a lame ending that everyone saw coming so with all of that bearing in mind what do we do or what should the Dolphins do with tu his contract then like I mean can you really justify dumping all of that money into Tua despite all of those question marks that he has about him I mean if you do end up committing to Tua and end up giving him just whatever number it ends up being with how this insane quarterback Market is what does that mean for the rest of this roster then they have just about solved their salary cap issues this year but they are already projected to be well over the cap next year and that's without to his contract or franchise tag accounted for with a 30-year-old Tyreek Hill also sniffing around for a new contract now that the wide receiver Market has absolutely just gone crazy it is starting to feel like it might be now or never for the Miami Dolphins Super Bowl window but then that begs the question what's the alternative then like I mean do you take a dip into the quarterback Lottery and I mean I think we all can agree that Miami is just too talented and too well coached to be picking near the top of the draft so I mean honestly that seems just out of the picture too and I mean as crazy as it sounds the issue that they have right now is that they still might be missing a final piece in order to finally break this playoff curse and to make matters worse shedding the soft label is going to be even harder without Christian Wilkins clogging up the center of the defensive line Wilkins was arguably Miami's best defender in 2023 offering sturdy defense in the Run game while also posting the second most sacks with 10 with him now lining up for the Raiders as a salary Rec cap casualty Miami's defensive three-man front has quickly flipped from a strength to a major weakness and may now flag up as a very enticing Target for opposing Run games Neville gallamore has been brought in to bolster the interior of the line after four poor years in Dallas along with 30 7-year-old Kus Campbell who In fairness to himself is turning out good Seasons still Zach Sil remains on the line after a solid season in 2023 in which Miami limited opponents to 99.8 yards per game on the ground which was enough for seventh best in the NFL however this jumped up massively to 145 yards per game across their last three showings and this reminds us not only of the struggles they had later in the season in cold weather and against good teams but also of what vulnerabilities there could be in 202 4 now that Christian Wilkins is no longer on the defensive line the other significant loss this off season came on the offensive line with guard Robert hunt earning big money in Carolina now hunt was the team's second best offensive lineman in 2023 and the Dolphins are certainly worse off heading into 2024 as a result of his departure teron Armstead is still offering Pro Bowl quality at left tackle but there are huge question marks surrounding the rest of the offensive line and that doesn't take in account too that armet is so vulnerable to injuries as well which could put even even more pressure on what is looking like a shaky unit head coach Mike McDaniel navigates around these issues by getting to it to release the ball quicker than most quarterbacks in the league but there is no guarantee that the same success can be found with a weakened unit in 2024 there were more losses everywhere else in the defense with Andrew van GLE Brandon Jones xaven Howard Emanuel ogba and Jerome Baker all heading for the door too these headline names reflect a turnover of personnel on defense that could cause major problems for Miami but they did at least bring in some veteran talent that should plug up some gaps Jordan Brooks and Shack beard are great additions to the linebacker room with Kendall Fuller Jordan puer and Syrian Neil all coming in to help out on the secondary and all of these guys have enjoyed good stretches in the NFL but as they enter the later stages of their careers it remains to be seen whether they can get this team over the edge the strength of Miami's defense is really in their Edge Defenders but with jayen Phillips and Bradley chub both coming back from tough injuries 2024 could be be far from smooth sailing Phillips has indicated that he could be ready for week one but Achilles tears are absolutely brutal and there is no guarantee that he will still have that explosiveness that made him so effective up to now in his career for chub a second ACL tear was brutal to take especially as it occurred in week 17 of all weeks his recovery process will likely leak into the 2024 season and even after he does return how effective will he be truly as we all know they did draft chop Robinson as he arrived in the first run of the draft to bolster the unit and he certainly brings an explosive element but being rookie he is a raw Prospect who will need to spend some time developing before he can consistently contribute and honestly I think just all the changes in the personnel and just all of the people recovering from injuries it honestly could see this defensive unit kind of just slow to the gates and just kind of taking a minute to catch up to everybody as everybody's pretty much already up to full strength and I mean if that happens that could be truly extremely concerning considering all the improve movements around the AFC like I mean getting out of the AFC East is already going to be tough enough as is the New York Jets look primed and ready to battle with Aaron Rodgers as their leader and yes the Dolphins did walk over them in 2023 but that was a battered and bruised team with absolutely no hope Rogers is back to lead a top offensive unit supported by arguably the best defense in the NFL so Miami should expect a much stiffer test from them this time around and then I mean you have Buffalo and despite the salary cap induced Personnel changes they have had to endure this off season they have won the division for four years in a row and still have one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL on their side a young offensive nucleus built around Josh Allen James Cook Dalton King Kade and Keon Coleman could very easily spell trouble for the Dolphins who have only beaten the bills in one of their last 12 meets and I mean if we just look at the conference and other spots too the Bengals are completely flying under the radar with a healthy Joe burrow heading into the season for the first time ever and the Houston Texans have absolutely loaded up for a deep playoff run as well and I mean this is on not mentioning the Baltimore Ravens and three Pete hunting Kansas City Chiefs 2o and like I mean the fact of the matter is that the AFC East is a tough Division and I mean the AFC as a whole is absolutely loaded for Miami while they haven't taken huge steps back this off season the major losses of Christian wils on the defensive line and Robert Hut on the offensive line are not ideal for a team competing against such powerhouses in the AFC and don't forget this team also has a proven issue with cold weather and may be about to send a shell load of money in the direction of a quarterback who has struggled against big AFC opponents so I mean I think it's safe to say that there are definitely some scary truths for the Miami Dolphins heading into the 2024 NFL season but I want to know what you guys think let me know in the comment section below what do you guys think that the Miami Dolphins record is going to be for this upcoming season personally for me I think it's going to be more of like a 10 and4 season for them and they're going to if if if my stuff becomes true and the Jets win that division they're probably going to be a third place team it would be like the Jets the bills then the Dolphins is what I think it's going to be and then uh the Patriots will be in last in that division unless May is just the next coming of CJ sh but I guess we'll just have to wait and see but as always let me know in the comment section what you guys think their record is going to be or how good they're going to be maybe they're just going to be completely terrible and who knows maybe Tyreek gets injured and then their offense just falls apart who knows like I said that's why we love the NFL cuz it's so unpredictable also if you have not make sure you join my Discord that's where we're doing all of our NFL stuff this year fantasy pick and pools all of that stuff join that in the description and I will catch you guys in the next one
