so your 30 FPS isn't going to cut it you want [Music] fine frame gen frame interpolation fluid motion fruits there are a ton of jargon thrown around out there that make you feel like you need a PhD to understand it but not today cuz today I'm going to help you figure out what all of this Mumble jumbo actually means and even better than that I'll show you how to implement each one in each section without doing a whole Ted Talk on it right before we get started though you should know a couple of things like I tested these methods on a few different pieces of Hardware like the Lenovo Legion go GPD wi mini R Ally and my desktop all of these methods will introduce some latency but all should work for ryen based handhelds though some of these methods will also require you to do some extra work like on the steam deck and maybe even Intel Arc or Nvidia gpus cuz we love ai ai ai ai ai ai right so there's one more catch not everything you see here will work righted out of the box and some might even need some extra Hardware like an external monitor or you might have to pay for a mod or an app so get ready to leave me an angry comment about that first up is FSR 3 frame generation I made a video about this before but now it's been improved significantly and for the better and because this is implemented at the game level basically that means it needs to be set up by a modder or game developer for each game but the good news here is that it will typically result in much better implementation or usability but of course it doesn't work for every game so if you've heard of D lss3 or deep learning super sampling this is nvidia's version of frame interpolation in the form of dlss 3 don't confuse this with dlss 3.5 that's a whole different can of worms basically though it works the same way as FSR 3 frame gen as they both put in an AI generated frame in between two let's call them real frames so now there are mods like this one by luk FC that even use the dlss pipeline with FSR meaning that an AMD based handheld for example can take advantage of the dlss 3 frame generation personally I've also had the most success with this mod and I think this solution also looks and plays the best like in cyberpunk 2077 with Luke FC's mod which is working almost flawlessly and it also works in a handful of other games so now let's get it working for you here's what you need the patreon mod which is payal first go and check out this spreadsheet that's Linked In the description below and make sure the game you want is supported then all you need to do is go to Luke FC's patreon Page open up your wallet and then once that's done go to mods. lfz doxyz log in select the version generally it's best to use the newest one then select the game from the drop- down menu and then download the accompanying files you'll also be greeted with a little table on that page which shows you what kind of in-game settings you need to use or have selected for it to work after you've noted those settings you'll just drag and drop those downloaded files into the game folder if you don't know where to find the game folder just right click on the game title from your steam library and then select browse local files after that folder opens up just drag and drop or copy pasta those files you just downloaded corresponding folders do note though that some games like cyberpunk and Hogwarts Legacy for example won't work if you just drop the files into the folders that opened up from Steam as you'll need to unzip them into a specific folder kind of like this once the files are all there and you try to boot up the game from that folder or from Steam you should see this popup terminal or console window to let you know that it's working and if there's no popup that means that you messed something up so make sure you have the right game settings selected as well from that table that I mentioned earlier or I'll laugh at you for not paying attention now you can enjoy all the generated frames so let's move over to fluid motion arm flapping fluid motion frames another kind of frame generation or frame interpolation that AMD insists on Reinventing terms for like your math teacher that told you you're wrong for saying takeaway instead of subtract basically though this refers to the driver level implementation of frame generation what the hell does that that mean that means that basically any directex 11 or directex 12 game should work when you click this little switch so that you can enjoy some extra AI created frames no I didn't make those frames someone else did but they'll both boost your FPS the big difference here is that you'll probably already notice is that this implementation will be significantly less useful at the game level since this type of generation or FMF doesn't have access to vector or motion data in games meaning what's actually moving on screen or what shouldn't be moving on screen and a specific Advantage here is that it's not reliant on the game to have a specific version of FSR or need a specific game per se so how do we get this done first you need to have an AMD GPU so any of the windows handhelds that are typically featured on this channel will work there's probably a way to also get it working on Steam deck as well but I haven't delved into that for this video so let me know in the comments if you've pulled this off with some space magic so here's what you need to do with the newly released driver 24 1.1 or a newer version if you're coming from the future make sure you go into your AMD software or AMD adrenaline then with the game open just click the enable fluid motion frames toggle go back to your game and Bam that's it what if it didn't work well you'll see if it's working or not on the driver page right there what if you don't have the driver well then update it you dummy I'm kidding if you're on a handheld like the legion go or the r Ally and the official driver is not yet available you can force install it by First downloading the driver from AMD then running that install which will give you an error after that open up the device manager right click on properties on the AMD Graphics select the update driver and then browse my computer and then let me pick and then from here you have to click have dis what the hell is a disc then navigate to this location select thein driver click next and then the driver will install if the screen flickers black for a little bit that's normal if it blows up that's not normal then you'll get a message saying that it's finished installing after that that I suggest you restart your device and then you're done if for whatever reason the AMD software application doesn't open now you have to go back into that same folder that you see on screen and then once you install that you'll have your AMD software back and if you don't want to force install then why are you even listening to me wait for an official release you dummy and now on to the next one lsfg what the hell is that lazily scripted fog generator wow that was bad almost like an AI wrote the script or something okay so what this is is frame generation from app called lossless scaling which is an app that's available in the steam store this is not limited by a GPU meaning that you should be able to get it to work on any device that is supported by windows or one that will boot this app from Steam so integrated GPU or not it should work though I'll tell you this your mileage may vary greatly as there are a couple things that you need to ensure at least as of the making of this video and that is something like having a resolution of 1080P or lower and that's also limiting your game frame rate to half of what the screen's maximum refresh rate is so say your handheld has a 120 HZ refresh rate like the Ali that means you need to set the in-game cap to 60 in order for it to work how this works though is similar to fluid motion frames in that it captures the information coming into the windows display and then like magic creates a new frame or something at least that's how I think it works in its current state it didn't really work all that well for me in the games that I tested it but I'm including it because I figured somebody would ask but some people are really claiming that it really does work so you have been warned and here's how you get it to work bu the app lless scaling from Steam don't worry no one's paying me for this plug and no one's paying me period why am I even doing this man I'm getting scammed once you've purchased lless scaling install it then run the app with this window open then go and boot up your game after that alt tab or whatever you need to do to get back to lossless scaling you can mess around with all of these settings that you want like not use scaling or use scaling once again your mileage will greatly vary once you're done selecting the settings that you want make sure to hit the scale button and then switch back to the game as the countdown will then show you when it triggers before I wrap up for today if you need some accessories for your handhelds make sure to check out Robbie's Etsy store Comfort grips where you can get cool connectors for your go or grips for your ally or some awesome little 3D printed items like these no this is not sponsored but he did send these cool things over to me and I think they are definitely nice enough quality to match your handhelds whether they're retro or modern oh and the first person to find all the Easter eggs in this video will get their comment pinned wait what you want a hint now all right fine there are a bunch of non-h handheld items scattered throughout this video which come directly from Robbie's shop three in particular good luck and before you ask yes you can mix and match these generated frame Technologies though it's really and I mean really not recommended cuz you've basically got as many fake frames as you do real ones which is probably going to feel really weird also remember that these Technologies while great aren't going to make any game that was unplayable suddenly playable so there's that but when used properly in certain use cases it should prove quite good especially as the technology evolves so enjoy your fake frames oh wait there's a bonus mention as of this video extra SS which is Intel's version of this generated stuff isn't out yet so maybe the M claw will have something like that so be sure to check back if you're interested and don't forget to check this review next
