hey everybody it's l from lra gaming and in today's Warhammer 40K Rog Trader video I'm going to give you 10 tips for beginners and I'll be honest with you some of these tips that I put together it took me a while to stumble upon them when I was first starting because they're hiding in plain sight but they're major elements of the game also stick around to the end because I get a bonus tip at the end of the video that is so simple yet so powerful that you're going to want to make sure you hear it especially if you're going to be playing on a higher difficulties now remember if you found this video helpful make sure to drop a like if you want to help with the algorithm drop a comment and if you have any other questions about the game and how it functions make sure to leave that as well I'll do my best to read those over and answer them I'll also probably have additional videos of more tips coming soon as well so we're going to go ahead and jump right into this without an even having an official intro swap because I want to show you how to Respec in a game as my first tip because again I don't know how to do this for the longest time and here's how you do it so once you get access to your Void ship and your Void ship Bridge which is relatively early in the game you're going to want to go to this gentleman here High effect fact totem generous denrock and again he's right here pretty close to the center and you're going to want to talk to him and again it's not super obvious but you need to talk to him and say my Ru and I are in need of training when you go ahead and do that you can select you can respect yourself any of your allies as well as your ship so when you do that it will resettle progress do note if you have selected multiple archetypes it does not let you repick them you also do not get to pick your origin or your home world it's only your level up progress so do keep that in mind all right tip number two has to do with leveling and that has to do with not always going for the recommended options and a lot of games like this they will generally point you in the right direction when making choices but the reality is there are so many features in this game and the game will never recommend any of your specialty talents that are related to your home world for example or your origin so if all you do is every time you level up pick one of the ones with the big thumbs up well you're not going to have a very good build not to say that these aren't useful because a lot of times they will highlight very universally useful either traits or abilities but there's just so much more that you can pick here or if you want to unlock certain things like heavy armor proficiency or access to different weapons that you don't normally have access to all of this is going to be in this middle section it's never going to populate as a recommendation so use this as a decent beginner guide for some initial thoughts but you're going to definitely want to review your different options and make sure you're picking stuff that focuses on the F the direction of your build now tip number three also has to do with your characters and the tip is that you want to specialize your main character as well as your companions because Jack of all trades are not good in this game the reality is that especially later on in the game the checks you're getting to make whether it's persuasion checks or low checks Etc are going to become really really difficult and if you have a bunch of different skills that are moderate in scores you're just going to be failing all the time so pick just a couple of different skills per character and really focus in on those you notice here with this character I'm pumping a bunch of awareness a bunch of persuasion here is another example this character I really focused on logic and Tech use with him so that's what you want to do you want to have everybody specialize in just a couple areas and have a well balanced team where whenever you go out whether it's in combat or out in the world where there's different checks you want to have the majority of these skills covered across the team that you're going to have all right next I want to talk about the reputation vendors that are also one of the main sources of getting specialized gear you're going to run into these vendors and R across the world as you play and each one the reputation the Duan ex uh explorator Etc are going to have unique NPCs you can talk to and get access to not only increasing the reputations but also buying from them however I did not know this for a long time you can again go to high uh factotum generous here and as a reminder he's right in the middle of your ship and what you can do is go talk to him and say I would like to order the shipping and transportation of some some goods and here are all the ones you have access to at any given point you can click on them and you can both increase the reputation as well as trade the items so you can do this from your ship anytime you do not have to hunt these NPCs down in the world now my next tip has to do with medits now medits early game are going to be really helpful for keeping yourself not only healthy in combat but also getting rid of injuries but just naturally find him in the world is not that common early on however you can kind of Target Focus certain reputations and get them really really early so for example you'll notice this reputation here the drusian tier zero you can actually get access to bed kits here right off the bat and as long as you have 14 uh profit Factor you can right off the bat get five of them here and the different sections here the different reputations will give you access to different kits so for example this one here the cas Bala Mission if you can get to tier two you can get a variety of large Med kits now you do need 46 profit Factor we'll talk about it in a different video but just keep that in mind look at the reputations getting a bunch of Med Pats packs early on can make the game a lot easier so you can quite literally kind of Target Farm the early reputations um get those meta packs for free early on and just make your life a lot easier next I want to talk about Cargo in inventory so you're going to be using cargo dominantly to up those reputations that we just talked about in the other section now do note there are events out in the universe that will require certain types of cargo and if you have it you're able to get a positive outcome of that situation if you don't have them then you're going to fail and without spoiling anything I had situations where we needed to get uh weap to arm certain civilians to be able to fight for themselves and it required range Weaponry armor I believe melee Weaponry Etc or you may have a situation where you run into a event with a colony and if you're able to provide them with uh fuel or other items you can get a positive effect so do keep that in mind but the other thing about cargo is the fact that the game doesn't quite explain in a very easy way that you can sacrifice any of your items that you're not going to use and turn them into this cargo so in fact if you click on cargo list and you drag these over let's say I don't need these sniper rifles it's going to go into its own category and similar to how you can just pick up generic items for cargo you can actually transform these and they will count toward s your cargo that you can trade in and again here's a bunch of axes I don't need 39 axes boom I put them in that filled out two and a half more of these now do note you can always if you need to as long as you don't sell them you can go back and you can transfer back over just as easily just like that but again because there are no traditional vendors in this game where you just sell anything for money it's all for reputation here you can very easily just transfer it over again I wish I had known this earlier all right next tip let's talk about setting up a good formation for your party the game again doesn't really go over this very much but if you hit Escape you have a formation box here and I actually like using a custom setup that looks roughly like this um you can use the other ones but what you want to do is because the game constantly has different checks when you're running around whether there's awareness checks uh or utilizing different skills in the background you want to make sure that you have characters properly spaced you don't want them too far apart either when you're moving so you'll notice here I have my two tanks that are right up in front here on the basically Wings here I have versatile characters that have are still decently defensive but maybe more ranged if you have like an officer or support character I like to have them centralized and snipers in the back yes it's common sense for the most part but this is a good way to move around if you spread it out too much the pathing can get a little wonky and when you get jumped in combat for example you're going to be misplaced also you may not identify traps for example if your awareness characters are too far back as well now the next tip I want to give you is something that again the game doesn't teach you and it has to do with combat so normally you walk into combat and you do the setup Etc but the game does not teach you is that you can completely jump the enemy so if you have especially a sniper or an AOE Caster here's the enemy you know you're going to be fighting him well why walk up and let them get a jump on you go ahead make sure you're doing a ranged attack bam there we go sometimes you can even kill somebody before you get started and you are right into combat just like that but now you have an advantage because one guy is dead and you didn't have to waste any of your actions on that all right the next tip I want to give you guys has to do with in combat utilization of the turn order track the game gives you a little bit of a tutorial on this but I feel like it doesn't really emphasize just how powerful this is so often times you're going to have these crazy battles where you got you know maybe a dozen enemies or so well at the left hand side you're going to see the order of whenever everybody goes and you may want to strategically Focus fire certain enemies before they can get a jump on you and so first thing to note here is just you can move Mouse over these enemies and not only see what kind of Buffs or debuffs they may have impacting them but you can also click on him and you'll know who they are so This Guy's in the back I'm not too worried about him he's far away but you can go look at these and see who's the biggest threat and you can kind of identify who's going when and if for example one of these guys up front here was going really really early and in this case this one is you may say okay can I do anything to either nullify that or make sure that we're positioned that they're not able to get to us and do too much damage before we go we know Cassie is going first and then arenta is going to go next so I may want to set her up when we're doing initial setups in a way where I can make sure she's taking him out rather early for example so again make sure whenever you have combat keep track of when your characters are going and who's especially going right before them so if you can potentially eliminate them so you can always stay one step ahead that can help out a lot all right guys here comes the penultimate tip and this has to do with a major element of this game when you're traversing hostile territory and that's about dealing with traps and what you need to know as far as which skills are involved the most so right off the bat you're going to want to make sure you have at least one character in your group at all time times that has a high awareness awareness is going to be the primary skill that's going to let you identify traps but then here's the kicker there are multiple skills that will actually deal with disabling trap depending on what kind of traps they are and that's not initially explained unless you actually read the tool tips so de uh demolition is actually the one that's the most obvious so explosive traps mechanical traps for the most part you're going to use demolition to disable that so you want to make sure you have at least one character that has really high demolition uh arenta naturally has high demolition so if you have somebody to find a traps of awareness and demolition that's initially good but you're also going to find more primitive traps that are basically set up by zenos or aliens and for that you actually need L zenos and it does say it at the bottom here but I think most people don't read that far down so you're gonna also want to have at least one character with high L xenos and uh urot I don't know how to pronounce that if you have her in your group she will naturally have high lower xenos and you can lean into that but again if you want to maximize dealing with traps you want to make sure you at all times you have somebody that has high low zenos High Demolition and at least one person with high awareness all right final tip guys and um I didn't have quite a a setup here that I had injuries shown but in a nutshell when you take damage in combat minor damage will turn into minor injuries and if you don't heal them during combat fast enough they'll turn into Old injuries that just lower your max Health by a little bit but that's not the bigger problem the bigger problem is if you get injured really far and get knocked down for example after combat you will stand up but you're going to have major injuries they're going to be permanent as they say and these are very very strong you might get like minus 20 uh to a certain stats like strength and toughness or ballistic skills Etc and it can really your character so so here's the tip this is the bonus 11th tip and it's so simple that I know way I didn't think of it sooner but at any given time as long as you're not kind of an event that traps you like an ambush event where you can't leave a map you can always just go back to your Void ship if you're clearing out a big map like this that has multiple fighting events and you get injured don't keep fighting just go back to your Void ship it will instantly kill you up you don't have to do anything and then come right back and all of a sudden you're continuing on your mission don't make this game more difficult than it needs to be all right guys those are technically 11 tips to get you started and Rogue Trader I hope you found them helpful let me know your thoughts below if you have other tips to share let me know I'll probably making another video in a near future of even more tips cuz I had quite a bit more but I thought these were like super important yet obvious tips that you can miss or stuff that's going to make your initial experience in combat uh a little easier a low Advantage can always help out so remember guys if you did enjoy this content make sure to drop a like subscribe to
