today i don't know what's going on with stream labs um i apologize or stream elements we thought we had this ironed out last week uh we did a couple of uh we did a couple of tests and uh you know i i hoped we had it figured out uh i'm going to go back in delete this other stream so that people don't get confused about it and it's gone now and so we'll come back to this one there we go cool okay so if we get a uh if we could get a 5x5 out in the chat that would be great and we will get started here bob carpenter has joined us bob is going to be our moderator for the day thank you again bob uh for keeping things in line uh we got some new um stuff here let me get things arranged um so the chat here's the way it works uh we went away from a uh a live scrolling chat on screen so i can pick for example like this so david grishko thank you for that for letting me know there was a double stream again so i can just pop that right up on the screen next to me now and when i uh when i want to highlight a chat and uh same way with the uh uh the tipping and so forth and new subscribers that'll all appear on the screen automatically as before but we just thought this was a better way to set up the stream uh for the chats on screen and give give people a little more notice and it allows me to pick and choose what chat i want to highlight on the screen so let's uh let me switch over here and we'll talk about the weather let me hit the old transition button there we go so it's 78 degrees outside right now we had a beautiful week last week we had uh we had our typical fall morning weather which is usually foggy here in october and i love that foggy morning weather cleared off by the day but you can see we're going to be in the mid to upper 80s all week we've got some chances of rain next week which is good and then it looks like on thursday we're going to have a definite cool down and i'm all for that i'm all for cooler weather uh today i've got a lot planned outside well i've got at least a repair planned for outside so uh hopefully hopefully i'll get all that stuff done uh let's see here so let's say hello to everybody out in the chat so william wilkinson uh when i did the live stream i talked to you about the wave xlr i purchased and uh the microphone was a gift from a client actually uh they didn't have any need for it anymore so they said hey have you got a use for it so i said sure and i bought a mic arm and put it on the wall so that i don't i can bang on my desktop without me making a bunch of noise so uh let's see yes uh william wilkinson writes it's much easier to highlight too yeah that way i can you know i can focus on a chat and bring it forward so good uh and yes brian forever thanks to uh he who shall not be named for that uh who is captain radar he helped me get all that set up uh and i told him i wanted to get a bigger i want i want a big head big head in the in the shot uh and i wanted to be able to bring the chat up and highlight it so the one who gave me the idea for the uh for the chat to come on screen is tony it's morality over at quick tech solutions this is the same system tony uses so i reached out to him and i said hey how do you do this through obs and he was kind enough to uh share that information with me so kudos out to tony at quick tech solutions uh for sharing that with me so we could we could utilize that here so now today's going to be an interesting version we're going to do we're going to kind of kick some new ideas around and one of those new ideas is going to be i'm going to do some real work while i'm on the live stream because i've got a client that is uh hey good morning captain radar good to see you here man here we go uh as a prime example of his hard work uh there you go um so as i was saying so what i've decided to do is kind of mix a day in the life of an i.t guy an episode with you i've got a problem with a laptop and a client that that we're going to try and resolve today uh while we have uh well we have a captive audience so uh but let's go over the pool status so the pump yeah the pump is still not repaired um i had to i had to fix the pump and get the ants out of there and all dead and then i'm going to need to go out there and disconnect the pump from the filter bring it inside so i can fix it's probably just going to need a capacitor we're gonna go ahead and buy a second pump and i'm not gonna buy a variable speed pump like this one is i just think they're more trouble than they're worth um the idea behind a variable speed pump is you can put it on a low speed and run it typically i run the pump about four hours a day but the idea with the lows with the multi-speed pump is you can run on low speed for eight hours and it uses less electricity but that has not been my that has not been what i have experienced so i just you know i've gotten in the habit of running my pump about four hours a day for the pool during the uh summer uh it hasn't been run in a couple of weeks so you can imagine it's kind of the pool is getting kind of gunky again but i'll get that pulled off and brought in here the reason i'm doing that is because you know the supply chain uh part parts are hard to get and prices are through the roof so i'm just going to try and fix that darn thing myself and then we'll get a second uh single speed pump just in case we have we have it go out again i'm hoping it's just the capacitor in there the run capacitor has gone out in the pool pump and we'll figure it out uh i've spent the last couple of days playing around with my mac mini uh thanks to uh thanks to captain radar who put the bug in my ear oh about three weeks ago i was complaining that i couldn't run big sur on the mac mini that i have because of the video card that's in there and he pointed me to uh to a guy who had a solution for me or who documented what he did to get his running so i've been working on that the last couple of days and i'm i i'll have a video coming up coming out about that and um let's see here i'm just reading over my notes here all right so let's go back to the chat and let's see what's going on with folks and let's see uh where your chat feature up on my screen thanks so much i was telling everybody earlier shouting out and saying thank you for sharing that with me we were able to get it to work uh and it's working very well i'm very happy with it it's even more better late than never stephen moore good to see you uh steven where what writes what year is the mini it's a mid 2011 with that amd uh i think it's a 5000 series video card the uh um the mobile version of that that has the problem with strobing when you use it with uh big sur but um so anyway i don't want to reveal too much here but i got i got the uh i got it working okay so bob is posting the uh the rules here for the new covers for the party game uh keep in mind super chats are on so if you're so inclined uh andy paquin greetings to you good to see you here okay so um i guess the the next thing i want to do is i want to take you over to this customer's computer so let me transition over to that so you can see it i don't want to reveal any information about the client but um they really don't care they've given me authorization to do this so this is an actual laptop that the client is using and the problem with this laptop is that as you can see we're out of space this has got one of those crazy dual ssds spinning hard drive creations all right and the problem is is that they're running out of space on the c drive and they're constantly running out of space on the c drive they're also office 365 users so the first thing i'm going to do on this laptop is i'm going to run uh i'm going to come down here to uh start and type in disk cleanup i'm going to run this app on the c drive and i'm gonna go to i'm gonna go here to clean up system files and it takes a minute to come up um i have run into this problem with this customer it's it's like every month or two we're running into this problem where they're running out of space part of the problem is is that one of the uh the the client's son uses this as his gaming machine and i've told them hey you need to reinstall your games on the d drive not the c drive so i've i've had to clean this unit up before but today i'm trying to just get him to where i can get it to run and i was hoping they might have some windows update files in here that i can get rid of but it looks like that is not going to be the case so you can see there's not a lot of disk space that i could recover this way um the other thing we can do is come out right click on this pc go to properties and go to advanced i think it's under advanced system settings and go to user profiles so a lot of times what happens is this machine gets shared with with a lot of different uh people so we could go out and delete some of the profiles but what i'm going to do is try to determine where all this disk space is in use so i like to use a program called winderstat i'm going to choose it to run on the c drive and i'm going to tell it okay and we're going to let this run in the background and it takes a few minutes to run and it's going to tell us hopefully my transition button is not working now hopefully it's going to tell us [Music] where most of the uh drive uh storage space is being gobbled up on uh and uh then we'll go from there and see what we can clean up uh let's see here okay so come back to the chat quick tech rights awesome just sing the chat overlay gra glad you got it monkey for the right amount of money uh the strongest i can drink is half calf coffee well i have full calf coffee and um with with uh heavy cream in it because i don't drink sugar anymore yeah right well i don't i don't it's just heavy cream and i love my coffee i do i do i love my coffee yes i do and this is my third cup of the morning so yum can't go bad with coffee let's see you said it you said it bob sshd is they're an abomination three points of failure the low rpm spinning rust the small ssd and the controller that goes between them yes yes so the goal is to today is to is to clear some space off there so he can use it and then i'm going to order a just replacement ssd a one terabyte ssd for it we'll put up we'll put a good quality samsung ssd in there and we'll be done with it but in the meantime they need to be up and running so so yes john we are gonna we are going to uh replace that uh andy paquin writes is winder stat better than tree size i have no idea because i have never used tree size i don't i've never even heard of it until this very moment so it could be i'm just trying to tell you one of the tools i use so um now the other thing i wanted to share with you is a video i did um well let's talk about the elephant in the room let's talk about windows 11. i've been doing a lot of videos on windows 11 and i'm not a fanboy of any operating system whether it be linux or windows or os 10 or any of those i'm just not i'm i'm a fan of whatever works for you to get your job done and if that happens to be windows great but i need to keep up and up to speed on windows and and so i don't really have a dog in the hunt i'm not so when i review windows 11 i especially since it's new i know there's going to be trouble with problems with it just like there was with windows 10 and windows 8 and 8.1 and etc so but people just seem to like to about operating systems new ones when they come out and they go it's never it's horrible it's never going to work so i get a lot of negative feedback about windows 11. uh you know people just seem to come out of the woodworks and love to hate on it and that's fine if they get that gives you something to do uh but it works i've got it on my bench machine behind me and i've i've got it on my gaming machine behind me as well i've upgraded both of these now there is an issue right now or has been with performance on amd processors i have personally not seen it but i'm not a big gamer they claim it's 15 however amd came out the other day with an update to their chipset or to their windows 11 drivers and uh so what i've done is i've actually installed it on the bench machine behind me and so what i'm going to do is kind of share that video with you now so let me cue that up and uh we'll get it we'll get it started and y'all can watch it while i am doing some other stuff in the background just let me get it let me get it all cued up here here we go and we'll let it roll and i'll stop talking so there's word that there are new amd drivers out for windows 11 and uh for my particular chipset which would be a b450 so i'm gonna go out i'm gonna look for amd b450 drivers and see if that is indeed the case so windows 11 64-bit i see the 10-21 well yes i do see them i'm an idiot the user version um 3.1.3.10.0 and these are supposed to support the fix for uef5c cppc2 preferred core that was causing the slowdowns now this is just an initial fix so don't this may not be the holy grail that people are looking for uh it says the manual system restart required a non-english os uh windows installer pop-up message may appear sometimes custom install fails to upgrade let's uh let's get it downloaded and we'll install it on this bench machine that's what it's there for so i've downloaded it now and i'm going to go ahead and go out here and install it try to make this as easy as possible and once i do it on this one then i can do it on the uh the gaming unit let's see we'll call that the gaming unit behind me gaming and ripping unit here we go so a little first it'll see if we're compatible that would be a good thing huh delicious coffee there's nothing that makes me happier than a cup of delicious coffee and i'm spurled i still cannot get a percolator to or drip to taste as good as a keurig i just i've kind of given up so it's going to put in effect the amd ryzen power plan the pci device driver all these drivers they're all they're all white check marked so i don't know if i don't know what that means i guess we'll get a green one after they're installed so i'm just going to go ahead and blind faith trust this now we may lose connection with this machine now this machine also has an amd video card in it and i have never loaded the amd drivers the current ones that are up on their website i don't even think they have one for windows 11 yet or they didn't as of a few days ago and i'm not looking to overclock or anything i want stability you know me i'm not an overclocker why uh what use could i possibly have for that so i want what i want a system stability so okay it says it was a successful so i'm going to restart it we survived a reboot and here we are back at the machine and uh i'm assuming it installed the drivers without any issues uh looks good and you notice i have synology drive client is running well maybe you don't but i do i'll show you that too while i'm here so yeah i have my synology drive running here so here's all my documents it's i've loaded it on this machine as well this is the uh i forget which version this is let's go ahead and look real quick so this is the 3.0.1-12674 version seems to be working fine on windows 11. so there you go that's how that's how hard it was to back up the or to install new drivers for amd i'll do the uh i'll do the gaming machine next no need to record it though now just a little fyi there were some updates after that and now that i've done those there's this cumulative update for windows 11 and it's got a red exclamation pointer information point next to it so i'm going to go ahead and download and install that as well that's kb 567 46 so just be aware i'll let that install all right so i'm back so yeah it was trivial there was no trouble getting that set up getting that to work i haven't experienced any problems with that machine since i've done it so i'm probably not a good judge of whether that fix the problem with with the 15 percent speed uh hit under amd with gaming i still have to do my gaming unit which is right behind me which i will probably do either either later today or tomorrow i'm not going to film that but uh we'll let you uh we'll let you see the results of it and i'll let you know if i do if i play some more games if i notice any any uh speed increases on there so um hang on a second i'm going to go back and check our check our laptop and it looks like stat has finally finished running so let me uh let me bring you back here here we go so as you can see it gives tries to give you a graphical representation of the file usage but what i'm interested in is where the most storage is taking place and it looks like windows installer uh yeah and there it is and it's what i thought uh i asked him to ask his kid to move these games now this is a small amount of space here this is only five gig uh actually or is it 7.6 gig so is this a combination of all these sub directories under here yeah that's got to be what that is and then um let's see where else is it being piggish so i thought maybe it was the user file but it's actually not um let's see here so 7 8 9 10 11 yeah some so i don't even think i'm going to waste time uh trying to free up space other than maybe the user folders uh let's go look and see how much space they're occupying uh let's go under users yeah we're not talking about a huge amount of hard drive space uh program files in uh that would be autocad and office so you can see how useful this little winder stat program is it gives you an idea of what is what is occupying occupying space on the drive so i think probably my best my best option is to just order a new one terabyte drive do a clean load on this and just be done with it and then his son can reinstall whatever games on there he wants but um yeah that'll keep it from from being my problem any longer so all right so let's come back to the chat let's see vote for tree size uh so he says he's even purchased a license himself so that's good all right so uh i want to apologize for last sunday we had a gaming live stream scheduled uh and we got going uh we were on it and then the guy who was hosting it captain radar had a kind of an emergency with the family and had to go so i apologize for that for any of you that were watching on that we did have a good time we just carried on um jamie and i did and uh played played quite a few games it was uh it was very relaxing for me it got me uh it got me it gave me the ability to get my head clear and and just have some fun and i really suck at first-person shooters i really do because i have i'm just i got old hands man i don't have dick stereo i don't have the uh but i like playing them uh and you know toward toward the middle to the end of the game i was i wasn't doing half bad uh i think we played overwatch i'm not a big fan of that i thought i would be but i'm just not i call of duty was fun though i enjoyed that and then there was another one we played but uh we're going to do that again i'm going to try to make it maybe a a bi-monthly or bi-weekly thing uh to where we we just get all get together and you can hang out and we can watch a live stream of a game because then it's a lot of fun and captain radar has been on my rear end to get on twitch and maybe start doing some live streams on there so we'll see again this is all this is all in in what is the word i'm looking for this is all fluid right now with how i'm how i'm doing my live streams and how i'm doing my videos so uh let's see uh discord server is doing well i see you all are out there and taking advantage of it and that's good uh we are uh we're enjoying the hell out of it uh i am i like the interaction with people and we out we also um usually in the afternoon we'll get into a a public video chat so if you want to come join us some afternoon if you've got nothing better to do if we're out there a lot of times three or four of us get out there we just kind of shoot the breeze you know and have a good time um so you know i showed you the windows 11 and i've shown you the amd updates on it and i just wanted to report i've still had zero problems with the gaming machine behind me in fact i upgraded that what a couple of weeks ago now we did gaming on it last week i'm still ripping my dvds and blu-rays on there and running them through the blu-rays through handbrake now i've had zero trouble seems to be running just fine i'm not a big fan of the new uh windows menu it's not very customizable but it will be given time um and i think windows 11 is now stable enough to where you can depend on it for a daily driver but again that depends on your your individual circumstance because you know a lot of you run software that i don't run so but the the sooner you get it if you've got a spare machine the sooner you get windows 11 loaded and up and running uh the the the quicker you'll be able to tell it's going to be a good uh fit for you so let's see yeah and john writes they still haven't click fix that right click menu problem um i thought they had john um oh he's saying in explore i thought they had i haven't had any more trouble with that but i could be wrong um but you know and i think he's talking about an explorer for the most part i i'm not i don't know if i like the new explorer window either they did compromise they did move some stuff on explorer to the top of the menu bar like up where file and everything is so they put some shortcuts up there and uh so far so good i like that but uh you know time will tell and i don't know why what this obsession microsoft has with the start menu why don't they just make it like the dock on os 10. you agree or disagree with that because you know i frankly just leave it alone or let us customize it to our little heart's content so you know uh let's see something weird with audio no i'm not having any trouble on my end uh was that during the video when it was playing um because uh so far so good on this end uh brian forever right super quiet yeah that was probably when the video was running when i was talking about the windows 11 driver update uh so gepstra writes oh welcome to the livestream in the chat and he writes it uh the latest amd chipset graphics update uh broke cody on windows 11 for some people yeah i'm not a kodi user so i wouldn't know and all i did was a chipset driver i didn't do the graphics update yet i have not downloaded there last i looked they only had amd drivers video drivers for my i think i have an rx 570 or 560 video card in there uh but they only had still had the windows 10 drivers but it's been a couple of weeks so i could be wrong uh let's see okay william uh i would recommend that you use you've got a greasy laptop mouse cursor mr clean magic eraser or something else i would use uh a paper towel and windex because that'll clean anything because it's got ammonia in it and i've never had it i've never had it damaged plastics you have to i don't i'm not sure i want to know why you're you have a greasy laptop mouse oh you're talking about the cursor in the middle like on an ibm you know what or lenovo ask ask bob bob maybe bob will chime in here brian froeber says try a damp towel or a damn towel and then he corrected it and said damp uh here we go bob chimed in microfiber cloth damp chemicals and coatings on laptops can often not go together very well good i agree uh william writes that keurigs are great coffee machines yes they are i just keep buying them when they break because they make such a wonderful coffee and there's i get the uh i buy i drink so much coffee i buy a 96 of those cured cups at one time from walmart with their french roast it's about 25 for that box and that box will last me about a month maybe 40 days if i'm really frugal because i drink a lot of coffee but yeah i just i just love the coffee so stream in the chat i did a storage pool with resiliency but it broke when i added a third drive now we're gonna use it again okay was that a windows 10 windows server i would recommend you go use a product called drive bender made by uh but if bob can put the link in there that would be great for drive bender um i think you'd be very happy with it allows you to pool drives together and then you can mirror them based on like directories you can mirror the directories instead of the whole drive so it gives you a lot more flexibility uh you don't i don't think you'll experience any slowdowns or anything like that i never have i've used it on windows server i've used it on windows 10 now let me go out and see if they have released a patch for windows 11. it's made by a company called division m it's an australian company and let me go see if they have got a if they have posted an update yet and it does not look like they have they were hopefully going to have that out by the 22nd is what they had told me i've been in correspondence with them um but go out and give it a try it'll run free i think for seven days and then it's uh i think it's you can you can buy it for i think it's like 50 bucks i was just there uh let me go look let me go look again let's see what the price is on it so for a single machine it's 39.95 they give you a 30-day money-back guarantee so if you're not happy drive is correct that kind of thing very simple to use i've got a plethora of videos on how to use drive bender they are not a paid uh sponsor uh i bought and paid for my licenses with them but they're just a great great group of people or great company to deal with so if you want to give them a try i don't think you'll be dissatisfied so william wilkinson writes i'm going to start using a physical mouse hook it into my usb so i don't have to keep cleaning that pad i don't blame you i can't use those track pads on they're wasted on me on a laptop they work well for me on a on a macbook because they're so big but i just don't like them on a regular windows laptop because frankly i just prefer a mouse i'm old school i'm an old guy y'all forget don't forget that uh cam radar right buy uh lsi controllers that have been flashed into it mode and that kind of thing and he's a great source of knowledge when it comes to hba adapters using them on these enterprise level machines so instead of just increasing drive space okay well when i get done with this live stream today i'm going to go out there and check it out i'll run it on this laptop so frederico writes you may give a try to windows 11 with a virtual machine works flawlessly yes i've done a couple of videos on running uh windows 11 under hyper-v uh and next week i'm going to be trying it under uh i'm well i don't want to release too much i'll be trying it on an alternative hypervisor as well but i'm not going to tell you what that is so turbo5546 writes most of my project machines don't support windows 11 including my late main laptop yeah but there are workarounds for that including workarounds from microsoft that will allow you to run it on a machine that is not compliant and they've even announced now that they're going to be allowing updates on those machines as well i think you're going to see microsoft's stance on that tpm uh i don't think you're going to see secure boot go away because it's you know it makes sense but i think on the tpm you're going to see that kind of that requirement kind of go away as they realize that they have a pro that they have a lot of people out there that aren't familiar with uh the tpm they're going to need they're going to need a lot of help upgrading from windows 10 to 11 because then you know they just don't understand it so uh john writes i don't see my universal plug and play devices in explorer anymore in windows 11. can you be a little more descriptive john i mean that's a plethora of devices could be universal plug and play are you are you talking about a mouse a camera keyboard what uh garrett writes audio all good now good good to see that up chat jumped you know what that means all right so let's go back to the notes okay so i've made a decision i've done some videos on the tp-link gear i like the tp-link gear it's good solid gear but i just don't have a use case for it here at hunky joe's playhouse if you look right up there that's a unify access point all of my all of my network rack equipment is unified i've got a 10 gig switch i've got a 24 port gigabit switch i've got a uh an old uh power over ethernet uh what are they called what did they call those i forgot what they called they weigh a ton they're like a 8 or a 10 port switch with poe on them i forgot the name of them i've got back on the workbench i've got an eight port poe switch well it's actually four poes and four regular ports and uh i have another one in the in the uh living area of the home so i'm not going to if i were to go with tp link i'd have to switch out all my equipment i don't want to do that i'm quite happy with my unified gear so i'm gonna keep that so what i am gonna do is i've got one of these so it's a tp-link tr tl-r i'm to push more people to the cloud and onedrive surprise you know my i did a video on synology for that very reason i'm not a big fan of onedrive now look i'll be honest with you my clients all use office 365 and they love it uh and they like onedrive being part of that but they they use uh sharepoint more than they use onedrive but they're all tied together but me i've i've been doing videos on the uh synology synology alternative to it and i prefer synology drive and i even got it running on windows that windows 11 machine uh i just i like having the control it gives me and so you know my goal in doing these synology videos is to migrate my business over to using completely synology applications rather than depending on office 365. the one application that just keeps pulling you back into microsoft is outlook and when you've used outlook for nearly 30 years like i have there's a reason why you just you know you know this old dog didn't want to learn new tricks and there's just so many of the features i use in outlook that are hard to replicate in other email pro programs but i am i am going to figure it out so yeah bob keeps trying to turn me on to a french press but i find that the keurig is very french press-like without the press so that's why i haven't done it yet but bob it is on my list of things to do is to buy a french press and give it a try because i really do love a good cup of coffee and you know who has really good coffee is uh dunkin donuts their breakfast blend is pretty pretty good but i could go on about coffee for the rest of my life we're gonna need to uh get this livestream wrapped up here at some point so uh so william wilkinson writes uh what is the end date for windows 10 uh yeah i think it's 2025 and of life why don't we just ask the googles october 14th 2025 will be the end date for microsoft support unless you have buckets of cash you can throw at them to get them to continue to support it oh let's see here and bob has posted example prometheus i like to show off prometheus so let's show off prometheus prometheus i will log in here and bring it up on screen for you i toyed around with i i'd always wanted to get unraid running right and use that as my daily driver but i just decided to create my own windows version of of unraid right so let me go over here so this is prometheus prometheus is running a 10th gen core i5 it's got 32 gig of ram and you can see i got a plethora of hard drives in here now this unit runs my blue iris security uh for my surveillance cameras but it's also running dry bender as you can see here it's also running mb and it's also my plex server and it works really well and i have i think i have let's find out i have four uh four terabyte drives in here and you can see that drive vendor is happily reading and writing to those drives but the beauty one of the beautiful things about drive better is right here is the smart reporting you can figure out uh what temperature your drives are running at it'll even tell you how long they've been powered up so it usually this sells drive vendor right here i said it again drink uh but yeah it runs just fine i've had zero trouble with drive bender and then um but for my nas units i have i run synology so that's prometheus that thing has been right here hang on a second because you know the other thing people like to tell me is you know you have to reboot windows all the time not if you know what you're doing i want you to look down here where it says uptime so this machine's been out for 43 days 20 hours 12 minutes and three seconds now so say what you will about windows but it's you know it's stable once you get it up and running and it's nice having all those cores in use isn't that what we spent all these money on these cores for and you can see even though i'm running nine cameras i'm running nine cameras so there's my nine cameras i'm running on prometheus and i can even go to my uh clips here and give you an idea of how fast i can scrub through data on my surveillance and then the other thing i can do with my surveillance video notice i have a a bench camera and i have an office camera here so i can actually use these as cameras in obs and then transmit him over so i'm always very fond of prometheus and i'm very proud of the fact that i got prometheus to do all this stuff on one server because that's been my holy grail for a long time is getting all that to work together and i've got quite a few videos out there on on how i did it so let's see if i can find out oh that's good to know so it was like seventy dollars and i was like why and i looked and i i realized i bought the loathed aluminum copper clad aluminum cable so don't be like hunky joe pay attention to the ad don't just pay attention to the price pay attention to specifications so all of these cables that i've run outside over the past few months and under the house are all copper clad aluminum and one of these days hopefully after i'm long dead it's going to come bite me in the ass for running that cable it's working fine it's working well but i'm going to uh i'm not going to run i need to run another cable to the other side of the house and i'm not going to do that until i have some true copper cables so don't don't be like hunky joe don't buy the wrong cable uh let me see here so frederico federico i'm going to stick i have nothing against unify i'm just going to keep using them my whole stack is unified so why complicate my life um the the only thing i have left to update is that unify access point up there that thing is about oh good god it's six six seven years old now so yeah and you know it's 99 bucks for a new access point why wouldn't i do that david grisco writes i need at least a 24-port poe switch for my new house what do you guys all recommend i am lean unifies already have unify access points but also netgear well if you're on unifi and you like unified david get unified um if you don't care about having basically that unify interface allows you to organize and label stuff it's really kind of neat and it's very simple the way it does vlans but that being said they're poe stuff get expensive so this switch wide right here is an eight port netgear poe switch i think i paid less it was 119 i bought it a year ago when i had my roof done and um this thing is works like a charm you just plug it in and forget it so this is going to go back on the bench here in the next couple of weeks and then the the unifi eight port four port poe 4 port regular switch is going to go over here on my desktop on my main rig but if you like the unify david and you get something out of it which i like because i can label everything uh i would just get i would stick with unify that's just my opinion uh let's see i'm gonna skip some of these chats so so tall beast writes he's using an amd ace a8 6600k is his main pc and an amd a10 5800k as a server not the latest and greatest but it have asked me about onedrive i don't like cloud service especially um you can disable that you know if you right-click in fact let me show you let me uh let me get some stuff arranged here and i'll show you what i'm talking about so if you right click on the start and go to task manager right here under startup you can tell it what you do and do not want to enable on startup and onedrive would be one of those and you see mine is disabled even though i have one drive and it's working i disable a little pop up here and there are even ways to to remove that just do a google search on on removing one drive completely from your system i may do that uh as i move forward with my uh synology videos i may actually show you how to remove uh one drive and there are there are other programs out there that allow you to clean up windows 10. all right let me get past these chats and then we're going to wrap it up let me see let me get my monitor cued up here okay here we go oh and that
