- We're eating Michael Phelps's diet today. - I'm assuming it's going to be an ungodly amount of food. - I feel like to some degree it has to be healthy, right? (electro pop) Oh yummy! - Yeah, I'm into this. - It looks good. - A cheese omelet and some grits, some chocolate chip pancakes, - [Together] Some French toast! - And 300 sandwiches. - Yay! - Cool. - All of these all look amazing, cheers! - Cheers! - Mmm yummy. - Pancakes specifically are like kryptonite for eating a bunch. Like, they're so filling. The idea of eating this every day is a little nuts. - This would be expensive to eat everyday. - And like, his local grocery story, does he come in everyday and everyone's like, "Oh shit. "He's back!" - "He's here again." (laughs) I used to take swimming in college. - Did you eat like this everyday? - No. - There is some irony to that old adage, that "you can't eat, before gettin' in the pool, "because you'll have a stomach cramp." And like the world's greatest swimmer eats 600 tons of food every day of his life. - I could still eat a little more. - Do it! - Okay, I'll eat one more sandwich, just to prove it. - Well I can't let her eat another sandwich and not finish my French toast, so. - I'm still a sandwich ahead of you though. - I'm aware! (laughs) These are better with syrup on them. - I don't think I can go swimming after this. - I will probably never swim again. (laughs) Wanna bite? - Nuh uh. I feel bad for our stomachs to digest all this. - This is what I would have left. - And this is what I would have left. I'm really proud of what we've done so far, I think for regular people we did quite a lot. - Thank you so much. Oh no, we have to eat again soon! I mean, honestly I'll take one. I do drink a ton of energy drinks. I normally go sugar free. - Oh great, I love Monster. Hungry. Just kidding. (electro pop) - So we had a three hour break in between the meals. Because we had our breakfast at our lunch time, we're gonna now have dinner and lunch at dinner time. (electro pop) Oh pasta! - Yeah, I can handle this. There is always room for pizza. - Yeah, I like pizza. - And the mystery section of the meal: yay, more bread. - Mmm, this is good. - I don't think either of us are enthused about the sandwiches. - No, I'm not a particular fan of them. - We had sandwiches earlier, this bread is even more dense than the bread before. We've got some Phelps Facts. So apparently for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, Michael Phelps told ESPN that he was eating 8,000 to 10,000 calories a day, that would be like, what, half of what we just ate? - Right. (laughs) Michael Phelps said his goal was just to eat a ton of calories, which is basically what this is, that was for 2008 Olympics, but over the years he's adjusted his diet so now he's eating less, and getting his calories from nutrient and protein dense food. So this was before he realized he was eating unhealthy. - Michael Phelps used to eat this, and then was like, oh I gotta change my diet. So apparently in 2016 he was still eating healthier than in 2008 when it was like this sort of stuff. He says he's consuming far less carbs than he did in past years. (laughs) He said, So apparently he used to train for five hours a day, six days a week, when he would eat all this stuff, but now he only trains two hours a day, so that would also make sense, if you, like, cut the carbs down. - My chest hurts. - I can't feel my feet. - I did half of everything, I think I can stop myself here. - So we've done a fairly good job, we've made a Phelsian attempt at this. - Like how big is his stomach? - Yeah, there's not a lot of room in there. He's a slender guy. Nothing washes down 16 pounds of food like a giant Monster energy drink. (upbeat music)
